00:05:51Live from the BBC, this is Strictly Come Dancing.
00:06:21A huge thank you to our couples for that amazing opening number, choreographed by Matt Flint.
00:06:51Oh brilliant, tonight the West End takes over the ballroom as our couples pay tribute to some of the biggest musicals of all time, plus we have a performance from Tom Fletcher and one very famous bear.
00:07:03But first, time for a big song and dance. Please welcome the judges.
00:07:08Craig Rebel-Horward and Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Dubek.
00:07:17Too bad.
00:07:18One night only, one night only, it's all I have to say.
00:07:24One night only, it's all I have to say.
00:07:28One night only, it's all I can again.
00:07:32One night only, one night only, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
00:07:45Thank you, Jussie.
00:07:48Magnificent.
00:07:50Five couples are left in the competition and having made it through last week's Instant Dance,
00:07:55they are now just one performance away from a place in this year's semi-final.
00:08:00So please welcome...
00:08:02Our Strictly Stars!
00:08:06George Clarke and his partner Alexis Moore.
00:08:09Balfinda Sopar and her partner Julian Cale.
00:08:17Karen Carney and her partner Carlos Gould.
00:08:23Lewis Cope and his partner Katya Jones.
00:08:27And finally, Amber Davis and her partner Nikita Kozma.
00:08:39I bet you can't stop the rhythm of the arts we'd love to stay.
00:08:44You can't stop the beat.
00:08:55Welcome everyone, you look fantastic.
00:08:58After two perfect scores last weekend, expectations are high tonight.
00:09:02So let's get started.
00:09:04First up, with an Argentine tango, it's George and Alexis.
00:09:07We are at His Majesty's Theatre where they perform Phantom of the Opera.
00:09:18Hi guys, welcome. I'm Dean. I play the Phantom.
00:09:20And I'm Lily. I play Christine.
00:09:22We are dancing Phantom of the Opera this week and we are doing an Argentine tango to it.
00:09:27So I would love your tips on just channeling the character.
00:09:31I think for you, George, what's really important to remember is everything about him is so precise.
00:09:35Everything comes from the soul and you'll feel that.
00:09:38I like that.
00:09:39Yeah. So he does everything with breath.
00:09:42And all these movements are specific.
00:09:44I feel like it makes a lot of sense with the Argentine tango.
00:09:47It was interesting to see how, even though they're not dancing, there is a sort of element of dance about it.
00:09:52He gets as close as he can and then I was told a lot about being nice and deliberate with movements.
00:09:58Bring back the piece with your hand.
00:10:01I understand the character more. I understand what we're trying to portray.
00:10:06Just a little gift from us.
00:10:07Oh, well, thank you very much. That's really cool.
00:10:09There's a Phantom mask.
00:10:10So today was such a special experience and I feel like we've learned so much about the characters.
00:10:15And now I want to take all of that and let's put it in the training room now.
00:10:21The Argentine tango, I think it's a very precise done.
00:10:24If you're not precise, you're going to go away with a lot of bruises on your shins.
00:10:28I give a nice, like, shoom, down. You're taking what you want.
00:10:32I think the advice that we got earlier in the week definitely has helped.
00:10:36Eye contact, not to the touch.
00:10:37I feel like there's definitely moments where I just lock in and I just try and become the Phantom.
00:10:41This is tension. That's like our first, like, real eye contact.
00:10:45The Phantom of the Opera is one of the most sort of iconic musicals.
00:10:50It feels like there's big shoes to fill there. So hopefully I can do that.
00:10:54That was good.
00:10:58You have come here in pursuit of your deepest urge.
00:11:15In pursuit of that wish which till now has been silent, silent.
00:11:26Give us the point of no return.
00:11:32No backward glances.
00:11:35The games we play till now at an end.
00:11:43God's raging fire, just love and soar.
00:11:48God's rich desire unlocks its door.
00:11:52But sweet seduction lies before us.
00:12:00To pass, the point of no return.
00:12:01As the point of no return.
00:12:05To find fresh art,
00:12:10What love and smoke and secrets will be learned?
00:12:16We are the point of no return
00:12:46We are the point of no return
00:13:16We are very first time up in the show. Yeah, I could see we're really in the zone then. Yeah
00:13:26I think you make an excellent phantom. What do you think?
00:13:34Well, first of all, I have to say well done to all the couples that opening was absolutely sensational
00:13:39It was and I feel like that it set the tone. I mean, this year for me is the year of dancing and you opening the show like that with such a conviction with the sensitive part in the beginning of the dance. And I just have to give Alexis a compliment. Girl, you were flying in the air. You were flying in the air.
00:14:01You were flying in the air. And I think that, you know, you could only do such type of movements if you trust your partner. If you have someone with such strong partnering skills that is there and you know I can let go. Plus the characterization that you, I think the mask helped you a little bit today. You're like, I'm behind the mask. I can do it all. So it was a lot of fun. I love the energy in that. Well done guys. Thank you very much.
00:14:31Well, I like this side of you. This is seriousness, the precision of leading, of being able to hold with the right and the left and understanding where two body weights meet together. And I agree with Motsi, you being able to do what you did, Alexis is down to the fact that he is totally in control of what he's doing.
00:14:54And I love the whole ambiance of it. Just the character. It was seamless. I really enjoyed it. What a great start to the night. Thank you. And you've been working so hard on that precision. We know that. Anton.
00:15:07I was taken aback by your intensity at the beginning. I love this. This is the George I really enjoy. I like it when you're laughing and having a lovely time. But when you're here and you were on the balcony there and you're all serious, you didn't look... I thought, yes, come on, George. This is great. I want this.
00:15:24All I did and you came down. I love this about you. But it transferred into the dance. And so you had an intensity of your partnering. I've complimented your partner through the whole series. This has been your greatest skill. It's your quality of partnering. It's a sort of a natural thing. Which has enabled Alexis to do some wonderful lifts and tricks. Brilliant. All because of you, as the girl said. But the intensity was the thing that struck me. I loved it. I want more of this. Please. Thank you, George.
00:15:54Well done. Thank you. What about you, Craig? I thought the footwork was a little untidy. I've got to be honest. It was a little bit sticky from step to step. I felt like you were shuffling sometimes into the lifts to gain purchase.
00:16:12I would like to have seen a little bit more of an A-frame like the Argentine tango in it. It's difficult music. I get that. I think you handled the music particularly well, particularly the slow bit and then finding the rhythm within the dance. But the lifts were absolutely excellent. You had power, control and proper drama.
00:16:31Thank you so much. Well, the judges think you're a great leading man, George. Congratulations. Go get your scores. Thank you.
00:16:40Well done. George and Alexis, first time opening the show. Nerve-wracking or charming? Nerve-wracking, definitely.
00:17:01Yeah. It's scary going first, but now you can enjoy everybody else. Yeah, no, exactly.
00:17:06It was all about the power this week, wasn't it? How happy are you then? The judges said you had it.
00:17:11Yeah, no, it's good. I mean, the power's a challenge because it's supposed to be obviously very strong, but she weighs nothing, so too strong she's in the wrong marquee.
00:17:18So I need to harness it. You were like, oops. You were excited about the makeover? Talk me through that.
00:17:24Yeah, no, it's nice to show less face on television. It's more comfortable.
00:17:29Alexis, it's your favourite musical. You always wanted to do this number.
00:17:33It is. When I first got the call that I was a pro on Strictly, literally the next day I went online in the States and I booked a ticket to see the family opera for the first time when I came here.
00:17:44And it's, yeah, it's a dream. And also this song. I've always wanted to do an Argentine Tango to this song and it's one of my favourites.
00:17:51It's just so, it gets me so giddy and I love it.
00:17:55Well, you did brilliantly. And just for you, we have a message from the king of musicals himself. Have a look at this.
00:18:04Good evening, George. I have a message from the Phantom of the Opera.
00:18:11God is greetings, Monsieur George. I congratulate you on choosing the music of my legend tonight.
00:18:19I trust that your conversion to musicals is now complete, lest a disaster should occur beyond your imagination.
00:18:29Your obedient servant, the opera ghost. Good luck, George.
00:18:36Oh! Thank you so much, Lord Lloyd Webber.
00:18:41Thank you. Isn't it wonderful? It is incredible. Thanks, Andy.
00:18:44Well, congratulations. Your scores are it.
00:18:48Ladies and gentlemen, the judges have their scores. Craig Revelhall, eight.
00:18:54Motsi Mabuse. Nine.
00:19:00Shirley Ballard. Nine.
00:19:03And Anton Dubek. Nine.
00:19:07Well done. If you think George and Alexis deserve a place in the semi-final, then please vote for them at the end of tonight's show.
00:19:18To get ready to vote, please sign in or register for your BBC account.
00:19:22All you have to do is head to bbc.co.uk, forward so strictly, or scan the QR code on your screen using your mobile or...
00:19:30Tablets!
00:19:32I love it.
00:19:33Tess. Thank you.
00:19:34Our next star earned her first perfect 40 last weekend for a flawless couple's choice with a place in the semi-final at stake.
00:19:42Tonight, she's hoping to deliver another show-stopping routine with a samba inspired by sweet charity.
00:19:48It is Karen and Carlos.
00:19:53On Saturday night, I felt very emotional.
00:19:55I immediately thought about my mum and blew her a kiss and that was a little bit of a challenge for me to hold it together.
00:20:02I never thought we would have got 40.
00:20:04Hey!
00:20:05It is your first ever 40 for both of you.
00:20:08Thank you so much!
00:20:10If there's anything that could humble a 40 and a couple's choice, it's doing an innocent dance to a cha-cha and finishing last.
00:20:17In sixth place, Karen and Carlos.
00:20:22My cha-cha was terrible, so at least I own it.
00:20:26One.
00:20:27It's musical week and we are dancing the samba to my favourite musical.
00:20:34So close.
00:20:36Sweet charity.
00:20:37It's 60s, it's hippies, it's going to be amazing.
00:20:42Samba is very challenging for me.
00:20:44It's got this weird kind of buff and rhythm.
00:20:46It's a bit strange.
00:20:47And eight.
00:20:49Samba has a most complex rhythm, so different steps has a different timing, different footwork.
00:20:54But I have a faith and confidence in her.
00:20:57And a five.
00:21:01The look of this dance is as important as dance itself.
00:21:05And I really need Karen to take these elements of fun and colours into our dancing.
00:21:14What is going on?
00:21:15This theme is about freedom.
00:21:17It's about colours.
00:21:18It's a time for a fashion show.
00:21:21Carlos is in his element.
00:21:23He loves his song.
00:21:24He loves the dress-up.
00:21:25He loves the vibe.
00:21:26This one's not bad.
00:21:28You've just got to get into the groove and enjoy it.
00:21:31This is it.
00:21:33Fantastic.
00:21:34Now I've had my full makeover on Saturday.
00:21:39I will give absolutely everything.
00:21:42Everything.
00:21:43Dancing with Sandra, Karen Connie, and Carlos Gui.
00:21:49And Carlos Gui.
00:22:02Daddy started out in San Francisco.
00:22:04Tootin' on his comfort loud.
00:22:06And he said,
00:22:07The voice said,
00:22:08Go fuck daddy.
00:22:09Spread the picture round a wider street.
00:22:11And the voice said,
00:22:12Daddy, there's a million pigeons waiting to be hooked on new religions.
00:22:16Take the road, daddy.
00:22:17Leave your covers all blank.
00:22:18Spread the resilience of the rhythm of life.
00:22:21And the rhythm of life is a powerful beat.
00:22:23It's a tingle in your fingers and a tingle in your feet.
00:22:26Rhythm in your bed and rhythm in the street.
00:22:28Yes, the rhythm of life is a powerful beat.
00:22:30And the rhythm of life is a powerful beat.
00:22:33It's a tingle to your fingers and your traveling feet.
00:22:35Rhythm in your bed and rhythm in the street.
00:22:37Yes, the rhythm of life is a powerful beat.
00:22:41Dip your wings and fly to daddy
00:22:44Lift your wings and fly to daddy
00:22:47Fly, fly, fly to daddy
00:22:51Take a dive and swim to daddy
00:24:03I mean...
00:24:04Come on!
00:24:07I think they like it!
00:24:10Look at you!
00:24:12Front and centre and a full ensemble and loving every moment.
00:24:16Oh, yeah, just give it everything we got.
00:24:17You give it everything and that's why we love you for that.
00:24:20You look gorgeous.
00:24:21Thank you, Carla.
00:24:22Always bring in the rhythm to life.
00:24:24Yes.
00:24:25It's our brilliant Dave Arch, his band and our fantastic live singer.
00:24:28Woo!
00:24:29Thank you, Tommy Glaze.
00:24:31It was so amazing.
00:24:32You're right, Carla.
00:24:33And the samba is a tough dance.
00:24:37I know.
00:24:38It's the quarter-finals, Shirley.
00:24:40What do you think?
00:24:41Well, I personally love the whole production of it.
00:24:43I want to say that first of all.
00:24:44Do you want to point out some things to you?
00:24:46But a lot of ladies come through this competition.
00:24:49But your sense of balance, for me, is absolutely off the chart.
00:24:54Let me explain.
00:24:56In this third section here, you had a right or a left underarm turn.
00:25:00You actually missed the turn, but you didn't miss the balance.
00:25:03That's impressive for me, I have to say.
00:25:05Your spins, your chemistry together, syncopated,
00:25:08a quarter-jacket, you didn't even just do what was playing in the book.
00:25:11You upped it another level.
00:25:13You had the bounce when it came to the Croissatus walks and locks.
00:25:16You attempted the shadow role.
00:25:18I thought, all in all, you are quite the force to be reckoned with in my opinion.
00:25:22Oh, thank you so much.
00:25:24You're good.
00:25:27No, Ryan, it's fine.
00:25:29Anton, this is the samba you enjoyed.
00:25:31I could see your face.
00:25:33I feel like if you're going to do a samba, this is exactly the samba.
00:25:37You want to choose Musicals Week and throw everything at it.
00:25:41Have a thousand people, have streamers, have stuff going off all over the place.
00:25:46You missed his hand on the spin, but you spun anyway.
00:25:50I got there. I'm balanced.
00:25:51It turns out I don't need you, I'll keep spinning.
00:25:54I'm fine.
00:25:56I've realised now you're sort of in the way.
00:25:58I'm just going to spin.
00:25:59Don't touch me.
00:26:00Don't touch me.
00:26:01It's great.
00:26:02I'm all right. Thank you very much.
00:26:03You did a thing at the end here as well, and you were on the same foot.
00:26:07Now, I'm sure that you're supposed to be in opposite feet, but I sort of didn't mind
00:26:11because it went so well.
00:26:13Beautifully timed.
00:26:14I mean, your execution is as it always is.
00:26:17It's absolutely bang on.
00:26:19Your energy is off the charts, but it's all placed in the right place.
00:26:23I just loved, loved, loved it.
00:26:30Great.
00:26:31Well, I'll start with the positive.
00:26:32I think that will relieve everyone of their winter blues, darling.
00:26:35Number one, the bounce was fantastic.
00:26:38Your spinning is out of this world.
00:26:41For me, it was a little bit frenetic and too busy,
00:26:44and I felt like you were trying to keep up with it.
00:26:46You're also a little bit stiff in the body just through the midsection.
00:26:53But what a fantastic dance.
00:26:58Not good.
00:26:59I mean, if we are going to speak about your wonderful spins,
00:27:04then I'm just going to add one spin here.
00:27:06It was absolutely sensational.
00:27:08You went into a spin into prominent runs.
00:27:11That is so difficult, and you pulled it off like,
00:27:15Neil, you'll get a partner next year,
00:27:18and I'll be careful which numbers I'll be pulling.
00:27:24Only my noise from you.
00:27:26You really attacked that dance, because the conviction of you
00:27:31doing every single rhythm in there,
00:27:34there were multiple different rhythm changes
00:27:36that were really, really difficult.
00:27:38Your solo spots were so, so strong.
00:27:41I would have left a little bit more of the hips moving,
00:27:44but you were convincing.
00:27:48Thank you so much.
00:27:50Great comments.
00:27:51Shirley said it.
00:27:52You are a force to be reckoned with.
00:27:54Thank you so much.
00:27:55I know you want to be in the semi-final.
00:27:56Really good luck with your scores.
00:27:57Thank you so much.
00:27:59Thank you very much.
00:28:00I love you.
00:28:13I love you, Kaz.
00:28:14You were really worried about the Samba, weren't you?
00:28:16Yeah.
00:28:17I mean, I haven't got the hips,
00:28:18but I was trying to shake what my mama gave me,
00:28:21so I literally, my aim was,
00:28:24it might not be my strongest, but I gave everything.
00:28:27I literally attacked it.
00:28:28You did.
00:28:29You did.
00:28:30I'm never having a regret on anything.
00:28:31I went for it, so I'm happy with that.
00:28:33Yeah, good girl.
00:28:34It was an exhausting routine.
00:28:37Am I wrong?
00:28:38Yeah, this one, I was pretty gassed at the end
00:28:41and I have to really, really push and dig deep
00:28:44and he's really challenged me
00:28:46and that was pretty hard aerobically for me,
00:28:48but like I said, I'd give it everything.
00:28:50Yeah, you really did.
00:28:51Carlos, it was so much more than just the steps this week.
00:28:54Oh, 100%.
00:28:55It was not, it was not only the dance itself,
00:28:58it's the character, it's the costume, it's the,
00:29:00it's the faucet, it's everything that music's about
00:29:03and she, she really absolutely gave it everything.
00:29:06Like, the way she looked at me, I was like,
00:29:08Kat, just look at me, having fun.
00:29:09Come on, Kat, but you got it, but you got it.
00:29:11I was like, give me everything.
00:29:12And she did.
00:29:13Okay.
00:29:14You have no idea how to cry.
00:29:15Almost prefer it when you cry.
00:29:16Oh, no.
00:29:17I'm joking.
00:29:18We have a video from a huge fan of yours.
00:29:21Have a look.
00:29:23Oh, my gosh.
00:29:24Kaz Carney.
00:29:25I don't know what to say.
00:29:26Mild-mannered Kaz Carney turns into dancer extraordinaire,
00:29:29one of the best dancers I've ever seen on that show.

00:30:29It's not terseness.
00:30:30Next tonight, we are heading to a grand theatre
00:30:33for a performance inspired by The Greatest Showman.
00:30:36Now, I hope everyone's going to behave themselves
00:30:39because there's nothing worse at the theatre
00:30:41than some unruly audience members making a scene.
00:30:43Oh, come on.
00:30:44Stop.
00:30:45Oh, come on.
00:30:46Oh, come on.
00:30:47OK.
00:30:48Don't see.
00:30:49Oh, sorry, Seth.
00:30:50Sorry.
00:30:51Come on, Anton.
00:30:52Come on.
00:30:53Sorry.
00:30:54See what I mean?
00:30:55Sorry.
00:30:56Keep...
00:30:57Tess, which way is the loo?
00:30:58That way.
00:30:59Excellent.
00:31:01With a Viennese waltz, it's Valvinda and Julian.
00:31:04It's Musicals Week.
00:31:05Valvinda and I have won five dance-offs to get here.
00:31:08Making it to the quarterfinals is a bonus upon a bonus,
00:31:11a bonus, a bonus, a bonus.
00:31:13It's extraordinary.
00:31:14I don't feel like the woman that I used to be.
00:31:17So we are doing a song from The Greatest Showman.
00:31:21Never enough.
00:31:22I, of course, will be Hugh Jackman.
00:31:23My mum always said that I look like Hugh Jackman.
00:31:24Maybe he'll see this and, like, he'll be like,
00:31:25that's the new me.
00:31:26And I could be his understudy.
00:31:27Yeah, maybe, Jules.
00:31:28I wanna raise it up.
00:31:29I'm challenging Val in terms of the rotation of the steps.
00:31:30One, two.
00:31:31Stop!
00:31:32I'm not quite getting the natural and pivot combination
00:31:34that travel is like a bonus.
00:31:35It's a bonus.
00:31:36It's a bonus.
00:31:37It's a bonus.
00:31:38It's a bonus.
00:31:39It's a bonus.
00:31:40It's a bonus.
00:31:41It's a bonus.
00:31:42It's a bonus.
00:31:43It's a bonus.
00:31:44It's a bonus.
00:31:45It's a bonus.
00:31:46It's a bonus.
00:31:47It's a bonus.
00:31:48It's the natural and pivot combination
00:31:50that travels us around the room.
00:31:52It's just kind of repeating that motion
00:31:54and then not kind of getting tangled within your feet.
00:31:57The Greatest Showman is a wonderful musical
00:32:01and I wanna get it right.
00:32:06Now, in order to take our routine to the next level,
00:32:08we are at Come Alive, The Greatest Showman.
00:32:11Hello, Val Vinder and Julian.
00:32:13Welcome to the circus.
00:32:17how's everything going yeah we're kind of cracking it and it's fun how do you
00:32:21want your audience to feel when they've watched I think that this is a number
00:32:26for us to come out and show you like you know we're here we're proud to be
00:32:30here and truthfully it's been a dream to do the show for 21 years I can't wait
00:32:34to see it you want to do the switch yes please can we do it you can have the
00:32:39whole thing strictly really is the place where dreams are made exactly
00:32:45the song never enough I think is really poignant for our journey I want the
00:32:50audience to come on this journey with us and for them to realize that we are
00:32:54enough dancing the Viennese was Valvinda Sopal and Julian Cale
00:33:15I'm trying to hold my breath let it stay this way
00:33:28can't let this moment end
00:33:34all the stars we still from the sky
00:33:43will never be
00:33:47never be
00:33:50enough
00:33:52thousands of gold will still do
00:33:56these eyes could hold the world but it'll never be
00:34:02enough
00:34:04never be
00:34:06enough
00:34:08enough
00:34:09never
00:34:11enough
00:34:13never
00:34:15enough
00:34:17never
00:34:18enough
00:34:19for me
00:34:21for me
00:34:23for me
00:34:25for me
00:34:27for me
00:34:48for me
00:34:52for me
00:35:13this is for you
00:35:15this is for you
00:35:17I'm so proud of you
00:35:24you deserve that I love your story telling you move me every time thank you what do you think
00:35:44our greatest showman Anton
00:35:46I think I love you now more than ever now
00:35:51thank you
00:35:53I have to tell you this I firstly congratulations because this was epic this was an epic performance
00:36:01I
00:36:03it's all when you're when you're going into the theatre or you're walking onto stage doing a music
00:36:08you want to make an entrance making entrance is everything and as you walked on you look absolutely stunning you walked on and you held your position there and you started the number and the whole room just went straight into you you brought everybody in it was an exquisite beginning this is a huge song sung beautifully by the way this is a huge song sung beautifully by the way this is a huge song
00:36:36and I would have been enormously disappointed if you crept around the floor and wasted this song and you didn't you bombed around the floor you swept across the floor you had enormous shift you danced in a free with a freedom that I've only seen in your instant dance performance you were magnificent I absolutely
00:37:01thank you
00:37:03thank you
00:37:04thank you
00:37:05thank you
00:37:06great
00:37:07I had a problem with your arms they need to extend from the body not just the shoulder
00:37:13you have a tendency on the right arm to do it beautifully but the left arm seems to be left behind I don't know why
00:37:20your left shoulder sometimes was raising up only twice or three times that happened
00:37:26I'm being really particular because we're you know we're getting on in the competition here you're still a little bit turned in on occasion I can see that you corrected it on the final lift where the one toe should remain on the floor at all times which is absolutely correct you were just a little bit sickled if you had have just turned that out sorry
00:37:45when you're in a ball gown darling the only thing we can see is your ankle and your foot so it's really important what the feet and the hands are doing that's all but it had flow it had feeling it had emotion you are a fighter thank you
00:38:00thank you
00:38:01thank you
00:38:02thank you
00:38:03thank you
00:38:04thank you
00:38:05well Linda honestly we were just holding hands with Shirley throughout that dance really from the very minute you started and your dance partner his name is Julian came over
00:38:17just reminding my perimenopause brain you know I have to get going so when he came in and you went completely soft and you went completely who was that
00:38:29you were you were so sensitive to each other you were in a different type of feeling and I felt like whatever you wanted to say for the last weeks came out through that dance it must be really demoralizing what you have been through in this competition but at the same time for me
00:38:54oh
00:38:55oh now I have to go with that I'm going to give her a laugh
00:38:58come on Monty
00:38:59come on Monty

00:39:19we all are
00:39:20Shirley
00:39:21Well, first of all, I just want to say that you are always so put together.
00:39:26And for me, long after this competition, you will always be a hero for me
00:39:30because, again, like she said, going through what you go through
00:39:35and coming back to dance, that kind of performance, I had chills.
00:39:38Anton and I and Motsi, we were just...
00:39:40It was sensitivity, grace, charm, beauty, determination,
00:39:45sensitivity of finish, particularly in all the areas where you're connected.
00:39:50I didn't see the left hand, I saw the right, I saw the left,
00:39:53I saw the feeling, I saw the touch, I just loved it.
00:39:56You were great. Well done.
00:39:57Thank you. Thank you, Daphne.
00:40:00Thank you, Daphne.
00:40:01Just calling.

00:40:32It's a lot, right? It's a lot.
00:40:35And then Motsi got out and cuddled you, but you never complain,
00:40:40you get back in there, you're also doing a full-time job and you work so incredibly hard.
00:40:46How did you find that?
00:40:47That was extraordinary and I have waited all competition for that feeling and I'm so grateful.
00:40:56I'm actually really grateful for what I've heard tonight and it's just, it's blown my heart.
00:41:00It's gorgeous.
00:41:01Thank you, you're amazing.
00:41:03Jules, it was really important for you to, for Val to love this and to do justice to that song.
00:41:09Yeah, I mean, you're, boss words, you are such an incredible woman and I just,
00:41:14when I was putting the piece together, I wanted her to finish on her own.
00:41:18Just because we're always together and we always speak about, you know, our strength as a partnership.
00:41:22But I wanted her to, sorry, I wanted her to finish, stood there and saying,
00:41:27I am Valvinda Sopal.
00:41:29I am proud of my journey.
00:41:31I deserve to be here.
00:41:32And I am, and you are more than enough.

00:43:28We all love a theme week on Strictly but nobody has been more excited about tonight than our next star.
00:43:42She is a massive musical theatre fan and her love of musicals is something that very much runs in the family.
00:43:48It is Amber and Nikita.
00:43:50Last weekend was unbelievable.
00:43:57Five, two, eight.
00:43:59I'm in the policy club.
00:44:01I'm going to put that on my bio on Instagram.
00:44:06I'm incredibly proud of Amber.
00:44:09We love it.
00:44:11I'm doing a Charleston.
00:44:13Yeah.
00:44:14I'm doing a swivel.
00:44:15I am so happy that I've made it to musicals week.
00:44:17Life's a musical.
00:44:18I live, eat and breathe musicals.
00:44:20They're the best things since sliced bread.
00:44:23In this Charleston we have to hit the same precise lines that are very, very fast.
00:44:29Up.
00:44:30I'm struggling with this bottom swivel.
00:44:32A swivel is a little bit like this.
00:44:35And you know, it has to be so clean.
00:44:39It's a hard routine but I think Amber's love for musicals is giving us a lot of great energy.
00:44:45Where is your love for musical theatre that came from?
00:44:49It was my older sister.
00:44:51I had to call her.
00:44:56Hi!
00:44:57Hi girl!
00:44:58Are you okay?
00:44:59Jade's in Shanghai at the minute on tour with Les Mis.
00:45:03That's incredible.
00:45:04So how is the Charleston going?
00:45:07I do love it.
00:45:08Just keep doing what you're doing.
00:45:10You know, this is your forte.
00:45:12You know how to embody a character.
00:45:14There's no explanation to how proud I am.
00:45:17So.
00:45:18Aww.
00:45:19I owe every thanks and gratitude to my older sister because it was you that brought this world into our household.
00:45:29I want to wish you all the love and luck in the world for this weekend.
00:45:33After speaking to my sister, I am so ready to go out there. I am going to give it my all.
00:45:40I dreamed last night I got on the boat to heaven and by some chance I had brought my dice along and there I stood and I hollered someone save me.
00:46:05But the passengers they knew right from wrong.
00:46:13For the people all said sit down, sit down, you're rockin' the boat.
00:46:17The people all said sit down, sit down, you're rockin' the boat.
00:46:21And the devil will drag you under by the sharp of the pound of your checkered coat.
00:46:25Sit down, sit down, sit down, sit down, sit down, sit down, you're rockin' the boat.
00:46:30Sit down, you're rockin' the boat.
00:46:32Sit down, you're rockin' the boat.
00:46:34Sit down, you're rockin' the boat.
00:46:36Sit down, you're rockin' the boat.
00:46:38Sit down, do-do-do-do-do.

00:49:45That was absolutely astonishingly good, but turns out no you were saving yourself for later this
00:49:50Was so brilliant. I don't think I've seen anything like this. I mean we say this a lot over the years
00:49:55Oh, well, I've never seen a dance better. I would be
00:49:57Very difficult to find a dance better than this ever

00:53:19West Side Story it has things of rivalry
00:53:22passion and revenge
00:53:24And he's hoping to channel all of that with tonight's performance guys that's actually quite distracting
00:53:31Sorry
00:53:33Sorry darling
00:53:34With a salsa
00:53:35It's Lewis and Katya
00:53:36What are you like?
00:53:37What are you like?
00:53:38What are you like?
00:53:43For our musical we are doing West Side Story
00:53:46Iconic
00:53:47Iconic
00:53:48Isn't it the one about the yellow brick road?
00:53:50No
00:53:51No
00:53:52So it's the sharks and the jets trying to figure out how they're going to live together
00:53:57Basically
00:53:58On the streets of New York City
00:54:00The dance at the gym is where we try to sort the conflict for dance
00:54:05I love how choreography is created like to show that challenging each other's side
00:54:10Yeah
00:54:11That's us in purple
00:54:14Anita and Bernardo
00:54:16He's got rhythm
00:54:17He's really showcasing it there
00:54:19Could I play a different character then?
00:54:21They are claiming their territory
00:54:24Let's try and claim our place in the semi-final shall we?
00:54:27One
00:54:29Two
00:54:30Salsa
00:54:31Now
00:54:32Our salsa is an action-packed routine
00:54:35Cha-cha-boom-pa-da-da-da-da
00:54:37It is very quick
00:54:38You know there's a lot of different tempo changes and energy changes within the dance
00:54:42So I need to get me head around all of that
00:54:45Don't rush seven eight
00:54:47My hips man
00:54:48Need a bit of lard
00:54:50Craig said last week
00:54:52The hips I thought lacked a little bit of fluidity
00:54:55That is something I'm gonna try and take on board and put into this dance
00:54:59Oh wait
00:55:00That big?
00:55:01Yeah
00:55:03Bernardo is the leader of the Sharks
00:55:06He has to be assertive
00:55:08And this dance has to get me through to the semi-final
00:55:12So I'm gonna give it my absolute hug
00:55:14Shake it
00:55:15Saka-saka-saka
00:55:16Yeah!
00:55:18My head nearly fell off
00:55:20Dancing the Salsa
00:55:25Lewis Cope
00:55:26And Katya Jones
00:55:28Oye Javi
00:55:30Ponle fuego
00:55:31Vamos
00:55:32Go!
00:55:33Go!
00:55:34Go!
00:55:35Go!
00:55:36Go!
00:55:37Go!
00:55:38Go!
00:55:39One more, one more, go!
00:56:09Mambo!
00:56:39One more, one more, go!
00:57:09One more, go!
00:57:39Oh my goodness, you threw everything into that.
00:57:47Thank you, you're so humble.
00:57:49The effort you put into every routine, it's just something to behold.
00:57:53Something magical happens.
00:57:54That's right.
00:57:55What do you think of that salsa, Matsi?
00:57:56Wow!
00:57:57Wow!
00:57:58I think, actually, it's the first time I see you after a dance actually breathing.
00:58:02You always cut them out of the dance and you're just like so chilled, but this time, this
00:58:07really, you pushed it physically.
00:58:09There was so much content in this dance and I was really trying to follow you.
00:58:13Where is he?
00:58:14Where is he?
00:58:15You're always the star within the dance.
00:58:17That is something absolutely sensational with so many great dancers next to you.
00:58:21You did a great job.
00:58:24Sally.
00:58:25I kind of agree in certain places that it was okay, but it wasn't your best dance for
00:58:33me, by far.
00:58:34That's okay.
00:58:35Please, let me explain.
00:58:36So, there was areas where you were running and you couldn't quite get where you were going.
00:58:40There was missed connections on all these hustle things.
00:58:42I know them very well.
00:58:44You looked a little bit tight and, as you said at the end, you're breathing while you're
00:58:48facing, but while you were dancing, it really needed to exhale and go.
00:58:52But was the dance fantastic?
00:58:53Yes.
00:58:54Was it your best?
00:58:55Not in my opinion, but still there was a lot to like.
00:59:01Anton.
00:59:02You're, you have this incredible physicality as a dancer.
00:59:07You come out and it's all sort of going, ooh, and it's all sparkly and, ooh, masculine
00:59:12and, ooh, touch me now and all that.
00:59:15It's all that and then, ooh, I'm a little bit sweaty and I quite like it.
00:59:18It's all of that.
00:59:19And it's perfect for this dance and it was perfect.
00:59:22The characterisation was amazing.
00:59:23Come down there, wham, and you give it all that, dun, dun, dun.
00:59:26Come on, girl.
00:59:27And all of that.
00:59:28And it was, so the side-by-side stuff, the musical theatre stuff, was strong.
00:59:31Yeah.
00:59:32Ooh.
00:59:33And ooh, nice.
00:59:34The partnering stuff wasn't, it needed to be a bit more subtle.
00:59:38Okay.
00:59:39Needed a bit more nuance and that suffered because of it.
00:59:41But, all in all, I mean, ooh.
00:59:44I mean, yes.
00:59:46I'd rather liked it, I have to say.
00:59:49Well done.
00:59:52Lewis, I know you've been working on those hits for a certain someone.
00:59:56Yes.
00:59:57Well, the basic salsa, I thought, was just a little bit square.
01:00:00I can see that you've worked on your hips, but there wasn't any type of figure eight rotation in there, which softens it off and makes it melty.
01:00:08You know.
01:00:09Um, the footwork was slightly turned in at times as well, which doesn't help it.
01:00:15Uh, things weren't finished in this.
01:00:18Yeah.
01:00:19Bizarrely, like the double arm wrap.
01:00:21You didn't come to a complete end on it.
01:00:24I didn't know where the picture was meant to be.
01:00:26And I'm sort of on the side of Shelley.
01:00:28I don't think it actually is your best dance.
01:00:30We have seen you dance better.
01:00:32I mean, I love your energy.
01:00:34The turns in second, I mean, hello, are incredible.
01:00:36I mean, there's not many people can do that.
01:00:38You have a tag, power, darling, and a lot of punch.
01:00:42So, congratulations.
01:00:44Well, we know that you always listen to what the judges say.
01:00:47You always take it on board.
01:00:49And we know you want to be in the semi-final.
01:00:50So, good luck with those scores, Lewis.
01:00:53We loved it.
01:00:55Well done, Lewis.
01:01:07You loved this dance, didn't you?
01:01:09I didn't tell them comments.
01:01:11No, no, no.
01:01:12I'm only joking.
01:01:13Yeah, I did.
01:01:14I thought it was really fun.
01:01:15I was enjoying the sort of playfulness and trying to recreate the scenes from the film.
01:01:19Yeah, I really enjoyed it, yeah.
01:01:20I know you're incredibly grateful for the extra dancers as well, aren't you?
01:01:24Yeah.
01:01:25You're so lovely.
01:01:26And you just enjoy being out there, a whole gang of you.
01:01:28I love just being there with a big groove.
01:01:30It's like being at home with my brothers, I think.
01:01:32Yeah.
01:01:33You know, that sort of energy that they bring, it just lifts me to, like, a new level.
01:01:37So, yeah, I couldn't have done it without them.
01:01:38Thank you, though.
01:01:39Yeah.
01:01:40Tell me your motto of the week.
01:01:41And also, is it your motto for life?
01:01:43It's motto for life.
01:01:45More is more.
01:01:46Everybody knows.
01:01:47I've just been looking for a partner who can match me.
01:01:49Yeah.
01:01:50And finally, a fun one.
01:01:51Yeah.
01:01:52I've been told less, Katia.
01:01:53Less.
01:01:54Never.
01:01:55More is more.
01:01:56There it is.
01:01:57We have a very special video for you.
01:02:00Aw, stop.
01:02:01Have a look at this.
01:02:02Good luck, Lucy, Katia.

01:02:07I can't help it.
01:02:09Oh, thank you.
01:02:10Donnie, Jotty and Nelson.
01:02:11They are adorable.
01:02:13Good luck.
01:02:15We adored it.
01:02:16The scores are in.
01:02:18The judges have their scores.
01:02:20Craig Revelholt.
01:02:21Eight.
01:02:23That's good.
01:02:24Motsi Mabuse.
01:02:25Nine.
01:02:26Yay.
01:02:28Shirley Ballast.
01:02:29Nine.
01:02:30Yes.
01:02:36To show Lewis and Katia you love themselves, so please support them.
01:02:40You can do that at the end of the show after an exclusive performance from a brand new musical.

01:03:40So close, pretty soon my life won't ever be the same.
01:03:47Nobody guessed that an explorer and a bear could be the perfect pair.
01:03:57So close, I can almost see him open up the door.
01:04:04This hat tells him I'm the one that he's been waiting for.
01:04:09And he'll share all his stories until his throat is hoarse.
01:04:16So I'll make him a sandwich.
01:04:19Marmalade, of course.

01:04:33And when the two of us combine, all the stars will shine.
01:04:40You won't ever find a pair that compares to the explorer and the bear.
01:04:52I don't know where he's hiding.
01:04:55But I know that I'll find him.
01:04:58And then we'll be just like a family.
01:05:04You say, let's stay together.
01:05:07All day, always, whatever the weather.
01:05:11This way forever and ever.
01:05:16Please welcome Paddington.
