00:00Tonight on The Proof is Out There.
00:03Did the Apollo 16 astronauts spot a UFO over the moon
00:07and catch it on film?
00:09People were convinced that NASA has been withholding evidence
00:12of alien life.
00:14Fifty years ago, did something come out of the sky
00:17and leave this man with stomach burns?
00:19As he got closer, he smelled sulfur
00:22and saw some really bright lights.
00:24His clothing and some of the soil out there
00:26were both found to be radioactive.
00:28Did a lost civilization harness a mysterious power
00:31in these stone spheres?
00:33The ancients knew those particular shapes
00:36were going to amplify the energy.
00:39Is this photo proof that a guardian angel
00:41helped a sick girl make a miraculous recovery?
00:44The bottom line is miracles can happen.
00:47And is this what it sounds like to go camping with Bigfoot?
00:53I think if these kinds of animals were out to get us,
00:55there'd be very few of us left.
00:58Around the globe are videos,
01:05photos,
01:07and sounds that defy explanation.
01:15We don't know where they come from,
01:17who made them, or how they operate.
01:18What are they?
01:19Some sort of bizarre mutation.
01:21What's exciting is nobody really knows.
01:23Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof.
01:28I'm Tony Harris.
01:30And as a journalist for more than 30 years,
01:32I've followed the facts where they take me.
01:34Now I'm bringing that spirit of investigation
01:36to the world's strangest sounds and images.
01:39It's coming towards us.
01:41We'll analyze each one with top experts.
01:43It's a credible case.
01:45It's a credible video.
01:46And pass a verdict on what it is.
01:49This video is clearly fake.
01:51The proof starts now.
02:02Good evening and welcome to The Proof Is Out There.
02:05Apollo 16 was NASA's fifth successful moon landing mission.
02:09One of its primary objectives?
02:11To inspect, survey, and collect rock in soil samples
02:15from the lunar surface.
02:17But did this moon mission encounter
02:19extraterrestrial life as well?
02:21And did NASA bury the truth?
02:26April 25, 1972.
02:28The Apollo 16 command module, Casper,
02:31has spent a total of five days in lunar orbit,
02:34circling the moon a total of 64 times.
02:37But due to issues with the service module engine,
02:41the crew re-docs with the command module
02:43and departs for Earth one day earlier than planned.
02:47As the men pull away from the moon,
02:50they film a truly unexpected sight through the window.
02:57A disk-shaped structure appears to be moving
02:59in an unusual trajectory above the lunar surface.
03:03It appears to have a dome in its center
03:06and a horizontal line or bar sticking out.
03:09The camera looks away, but shifts back once more
03:12in time to catch a final glimpse of the object.
03:16This video has long drawn the attention of UFO enthusiasts.
03:21It's understandable that people would see this
03:23and think it is a UFO.
03:24This kind of has that classic circular
03:27or disk-like shape that UFOs typically have,
03:30but also it's at the moon.
03:32We don't know a lot about the moon.
03:33It's a very alien environment.
03:35And people who are convinced that NASA
03:37has been withholding evidence of aliens
03:39would point to this as evidence that NASA missed hiding.
03:43Hang on.
03:45Could NASA really be hiding signs of extraterrestrial life?
03:49Well, one of history's most esteemed astronauts said yes.
03:53Ed Mitchell was an Apollo astronaut.
03:56He was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 14,
03:58which meant he walked on the surface of the moon.
04:01And he maintained throughout his life
04:03that NASA had evidence of alien life.
04:06He was sure that there were some extraterrestrials out there
04:10that they had engaged with.
04:12Plus, at least one expert has analyzed the footage.
04:19In 2003, Japanese engineer Hiroshi Nakamura wrote an article
04:23hypothesizing that this disk could only be an extraterrestrial object.
04:28He said that it is the only explanation consistent with mission data.
04:32According to Nakamura's analysis, the object's wobbly movement
04:36is indicative of something three-dimensional.
04:38And its width, estimated by comparing it to the craters on the moon,
04:42could be as big as 70 miles.
04:45There are a lot of questions about this footage
04:47and plenty of unknowns, which kind of explains
04:50why this clip of the footage is so popular among UFO circles.
04:54According to NASA, people have now taken more than 4 million photos in space.
05:04Does this footage stand out among the rest
05:07as proof that something or someone is out there?
05:11Before making one giant leap to conclusions,
05:14we check with our experts.
05:20First, a theory promoted by debunkers over the years
05:23this was just a glimpse of Earth.
05:26The reason why this could not be the Earth
05:28is because the Earth should be larger than what we've seen here.
05:32It specifically has two circular bands.
05:36Unless there was a hurricane that was going around the Earth
05:38at a high rate of speed, there is no way
05:40that this particular object could be the Earth.
05:44Some believe the object wasn't even really there,
05:47that it was a reflection from the window.
05:49But there's an easy way to tell.
05:51Camera reflections would be either an internal reflection
05:55or a lens flare, and they have a characteristic look to them.
05:59We would actually see the brightest spot,
06:01and it would look like a fuzzy thing over here
06:03on the opposite side of the field.
06:05It wouldn't be right next to it here.
06:07It would be across the center of the frame.
06:10It looks to me like we're seeing a physical object.
06:13Could it truly be some sort of spacecraft like a UFO,
06:17as Nakamura suggested?
06:19Well, we see one big problem with Nakamura's analysis.
06:22He presumed that the object was as far away as the moon,
06:25and therefore huge.
06:27But our analysis puts this object closer to the camera,
06:30and therefore smaller.
06:31When the camera moves around,
06:33the object doesn't change position at all,
06:36relative to the command module.
06:37So what that's telling me is that this object
06:40is probably literally right outside the command module.
06:44It's not very far away at all.
06:46And that's not all the camera movement reveals.
06:49The fact that the camera moved towards the object
06:52and then moved back,
06:53I do not believe the astronaut thought
06:55that that object was that important.
06:57And none of the astronauts have came out
06:59and said that they saw extraterrestrials on their mission.
07:02My feeling is that this is a spotlight fixture
07:06on the command module.
07:07This here is the stock with the wire.
07:10This thing right here looks to me
07:13like a funnel-shaped light shield
07:17to help increase the brightness.
07:19And then that thing we see in the middle
07:21could be a light bulb.
07:22But why would a spaceship need a spotlight?
07:25On Apollo 16,
07:28they had to actually go outside the command module
07:31and do what's called an EVA,
07:33an extra-vehicular activity.
07:35And when they did the EVA or the spacewalk,
07:37they had to use additional lighting.
07:39So it was the EVA floodlight housing and mount
07:44on the command module of the Apollo 16.
07:46We agree with D'Antonio.
07:53This is an EVA floodlight.
07:55NASA's Artemis program is scheduled to land astronauts
07:58on the moon's south pole as early as 2027.
08:02If they spot anything strange,
08:04we'll be sure to let you know.
08:08We want to talk about another kind of UFO encounter now,
08:11ones in which the eyewitness is allegedly injured.
08:14Unfortunately, there are many accounts of such events,
08:18like this one,
08:19which has become one of the most famous
08:21Canadian UFO incidents of all time.
08:24It's May 20, 1967.
08:27After a relaxing weekend prospecting
08:29along Manitoba's Falcon Lake,
08:31amateur geologist and World War II veteran
08:34Stefan Mihalik returns to his hometown of Winnipeg,
08:39where he immediately goes through the emergency room.
08:42Stefan is vomiting, repeatedly fighting to remain conscious.
08:46That's when his shirt is open to reveal a gruesome sight.
08:52A series of dark, circular burns protrude from Stefan's torso
08:57in a precise, grid-like pattern.
08:59He was prospecting for silver and quartz.
09:03When he saw two red glowing crafts in the sky.
09:08One of them took off and then one of them landed.
09:11So he decided to go get a closer look.
09:14As he got closer, he smelled sulfur
09:16and saw some really bright lights.
09:19And when he reached out to touch the craft,
09:21the craft began to spin.
09:23And he was actually knocked down by a burst of air
09:26that set his clothes on fire.
09:28A lot of people thought that this was a UFO,
09:32but Mihalik actually believed it was a secret military craft.
09:38Mihalik's youngest son, Stan,
09:40vividly remembers the day his dad went to the ER.
09:43My dad, who didn't want to get into it with this doctor,
09:47tells him it was an aircraft accident.
09:49He was scared.
09:50Here's a man who's been through the Second War.
09:52Here's a man who's been through the concentration camps.
09:55And he was terrified.
09:56According to Stan, the doctors treat his father's burns,
10:00but he continued to suffer from periodic blackouts,
10:03swelling, diarrhea, and nausea,
10:05all symptoms of radiation sickness.
10:08The Canadian government grabbed some of his clothing
10:11and some of the soil out there,
10:13which were both found to be radioactive.
10:15There was also radioactive metal embedded in rocks
10:18and a 15-foot diameter circle
10:20that was newly devoid of any vegetation or moss.
10:24The case became so big that even the U.S. government
10:27pitched in to assist the investigation.
10:29And some see similarities to another infamous case,
10:33the 1980 Rendlesham Forest incident,
10:36where two U.S. servicemen claimed to have encountered a UFO
10:40deep within the woods near a U.S. Air Force base in England.
10:44All the radios of all the cops were kind of going nuts
10:47that something was in the forest
10:50right outside of the joint U.K. and United States base
10:54known as Bentwaters.
10:56These two police officers for the Air Force
10:58Penniston and Burroughs actually go out into the forest
11:03to try to locate the downed UFO,
11:06and lo and behold, they find it.
11:09Both witnesses report not only a brilliant bright light,
11:13but feeling this static charge in the air as they got close.
11:18Burroughs indicated to me that injuries that he sustained
11:22created havoc to his health, heart complications,
11:26and a loss of vision.
11:27All of those are very consistent with radiation poisoning.
11:32In 2015, Burroughs received disability benefits for his condition,
11:37which suggests that something did indeed happen to him.
11:41But what about those burns on Mahalik's stomach?
11:44Let's turn to our experts.
11:46First, did Stefan Mahalik's symptoms conform to radiation poisoning?
11:55His reports say that these symptoms lasted for weeks.
11:59You're really going to see those acute symptoms for two days.
12:02Then you have a latent period, and we would have seen abnormalities in his blood work,
12:07almost akin to people who undergo radiation or chemo.
12:10But the reports that I reviewed showed that he had normal blood work.
12:14And as far as these peculiar marks being radiation burns?
12:17With radiation burns, usually the zone of damage is going to be bigger.
12:22It's not just going to be a small pattern.
12:25To me, this looks like something made contact with just that area of skin as opposed to a blast.
12:31It's almost like somebody took an item like this and pressed it against his chest.
12:35However, not everyone is as skeptical.
12:39This story matches so many other encounters like this,
12:44where you have physical evidence and evidence of burn injuries to a human body.
12:49If this is actually an injury from ionizing radiation,
12:53that would imply some sort of very collimated beams of radiation.
12:58Unlike radiation from microwaves or radio waves,
13:02ionizing radiation contains enough energy to damage living tissue.
13:07You can have ionizing radiation from radioisotopes used perhaps as fuel
13:12for some sort of black ops, exotic aircraft or spacecraft.
13:18Then there are the findings from the site investigation.
13:21When the area of the sighting was studied,
13:24radiation was found not only in the soil,
13:28but pieces of metal found in the crust vegetation.
13:33In my opinion, this is an unexplainable story.
13:37Over 50 years later, this remains one of Canada's greatest UFO mysteries.
13:42The incident happened. We have the evidence.
13:45We just don't know what it was.
13:47Our verdict? This infamous case still remains an unexplained incident.
13:57Unfortunately, we may never get to the bottom of this story.
14:00But hopefully, continued research will shed more light on the alleged injury sustained during UAP encounters.
14:08When you think about the world's great archaeological destinations,
14:15you may picture the Egyptian pyramids or the Greek Parthenon.
14:19But what if I told you there were potentially even greater wonders hiding in a little-known Balkan forest?
14:27March 2016, near the city of Zavidovici, Bosnia,
14:32Dr. Samir Osmanagic, sometimes called the Bosnian Indiana Jones,
14:36is exploring a forest outside the town when he spots a strange object that immediately grabs his attention.
14:42An enormous, seemingly sculpted sphere is wedged into the ground,
14:47standing in stark contrast to the natural wilderness surrounding it.
14:52It appears to show some weathering with chips and lines on the surface,
14:56but for the most part, it is smoothly curved.
14:59Its seemingly perfect shape has Dr. Osmanagic wondering if something unnatural is at play.
15:05You start thinking, hey, who are the people who are building all this?
15:10It had to be much more advanced civilizations.
15:14Today, you would need huge pieces of equipment to shape it, to move it.
15:20We took precise measurements.
15:22It is more than three and a half meter radius.
15:26It is 37.4 tons.
15:30This is by far the most massive stone sphere on the planet.
15:37This Bosnian sphere isn't traceable to any known civilization.
15:41However, there are some wild theories.
15:44Some people say this sphere would be evidence of a super advanced human civilization living in the area.
15:49Years ago that we have no idea about.
15:52There were stone spheres discovered in Costa Rica in the 1930s.
15:55They were hand carved by the disk culture between 600 and 1000 AD.
16:00But they're significantly smaller than the spheres found in Bosnia, which are twice as heavy.
16:04Could an ancient civilization in the Balkans have created this mysterious sphere?
16:10In 2018, researchers discovered that the Great Pyramid of Giza can concentrate electromagnetic energy at its base.
16:18Osman Nagic claims that an advanced ancient civilization did the same thing here, creating the sphere to harness energy.
16:26The ancients knew that if they placed such structures in those particular shapes, that they were going to amplify the energy.
16:39Dr. Osman Nagic once claimed that he'd found an ancient pyramidal complex, just like the one in Giza, in the Balkan hills.
16:48Again, he said that this structure was the work of an advanced civilization and capable of amplifying energy.
16:55Osman Nagic's claims have received support from the Bosnian government.
16:59But can we believe his claims about this mystery sphere?
17:03Let's ask our experts.
17:05First, we look into the idea that these Bosnian spheres are advanced tech wielding powerful energy.
17:15This one itself, in the picture, you can see that there's a big missing piece of the sphere and there's this crack here.
17:24For me, they're too random to be specifically carved to be a shape that can produce energy.
17:32I would think that they would be perfect.
17:36However, when you really look at the sphere, none of them are perfectly round.
17:41It turns out geology, and not an advanced civilization, is the true force behind this massive stone.
17:48The Bosnian sphere is one of a number of examples of a global phenomena called concretions.
17:56These are stones, sometimes they'll start around a walnut or a stick.
18:03But as they roll through rivers of certain pitch that are made of mostly limestone, all that particulate sticks to the ball.
18:13And it rolls over time and it becomes kind of a snowball.
18:17The geologic process of how these balls form is very well known.
18:25It's very well documented and it's not debated.
18:28There are some on the coast of Japan.
18:30There are some in Oregon.
18:32There are a few that are on the coast of New Zealand.
18:36There are a number of natural examples in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the United States.
18:43When you put those into the perspective, the process is very common.
18:49What's uncommon is them getting to very large size like the ones in Bosnia.
18:58Our verdict? We're going to go with concretion.
19:01What makes these Bosnian concretions so huge is still a mystery.
19:06Normandy, France is known as the site of the Great D-Day invasion of World War II.
19:14We know the Allied forces landed there.
19:17But do these photos prove a UFO did too?
19:21October 1989, Normandy, France.
19:25In the early morning hours, a man is trying to comfort his upset dog.
19:30When suddenly, he sees a large blue beam of light shoot up toward the sky in a nearby field.
19:36The following day, the owner of that field investigates and finds this.
19:42More than 50 feet of the field appears destroyed.
19:46The vegetation replaced by dark, spongy soil sunken about six inches below the surrounding grass.
19:53French UFO researcher Baptiste Freescore says the strange sight becomes known as Le True Normand, which means the Norman Hole.
20:05People at the time considered it mysterious because suddenly after a huge light, a patch of grass was burned.
20:15So many thought it was a trace on the ground of a UFO landing.
20:20It's easy to see why the theory caught on, considering the French Space Agency, CNES, had already investigated a similar case years earlier across the country in a town called Trans-en-Provence.
20:33One of the most intriguing events in French UFO cases happened January 8, 1981 at 5 p.m.
20:42The witness hears a whistling.
20:45A craft rushes through the trees, lands 200 feet in front of him.
20:52Then the craft shoots up and circular traces are found on the ground.
21:02A few days later, the Space Agency collected soil samples at the site, which suggested something heavy and perhaps very hot hit the ground there.
21:11So did a UFO land and take off? And did the same thing happen years later?
21:19In 2007, France became the first country to release all of its UFO files.
21:24This digital archive contains more than a thousand UFO cases, including this one.
21:30Does that mean this is a true UFO? Not until our experts say so.
21:35First, could that flash of blue light that the eyewitness saw have come from a fire?
21:44Turns out there's a type of fire that can cause a pattern like this.
21:48If you have very thick layers of organic material, let's say like in peat bogs or in areas where you have a lot of decked vegetation,
21:57you can get these things called zombie fires.
21:59Peat is a kind of soil containing partially decomposed plant material, making it rich in carbon and highly flammable.
22:07The fires start and literally burn along the bottom.
22:10And then it finally comes to a spot where it can open up to the surface and burn outwards.
22:16But there's one problem with that theory.
22:18Zombie fires can smolder for months or even years and would have still been burning when people found it.
22:24So was it a fire that started in a different way?
22:27Upon further investigation, there was a chemical analysis done of the soil and of the grasses in here.
22:34And guess what they found?
22:36They found a chemical signature of kerosene.
22:39And many aircraft at the time actually used kerosene as fuel.
22:43So it's possible that blue glow might have been aircraft dumping fuel.
22:48But that kerosene signature could also be attributed to some local history.
22:54This is really near the Normandy beachhead.
22:59And during World War II, there were a lot of tanks and vehicles driving in that area.
23:03So it would not surprise me to find a kerosene signature in the soil.
23:08Our verdict? We're going with a kerosene fire, though the source of that kerosene is still up for debate.
23:18However, the Trons-en-Provence case continues to be unexplained, even by France's space agency.
23:25And we've only begun to scratch the surface of France's UFO files.
23:29Who knows what we'll find next?
23:34Map-making during the age of exploration was a feat of human ingenuity,
23:39tracing the known world just as the world was becoming known.
23:43But this map that we're about to show you is unlike any other.
23:47It could be hundreds of years ahead of its time and perhaps not even human in origin.
23:531929, Istanbul, Turkey.
23:57A German theologian named Gustav Deismann is cataloging antiquities at the Topkapi Palace Library.
24:04While making his way through the material, he sees this.
24:08It's a faded map filled with detailed illustrations of Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
24:15At the bottom, there appears to be a landmass depicting Antarctica.
24:20But there's a problem.
24:21While Antarctica was first spotted by explorers in the 19th century,
24:26according to this text, this antique map is dated 1513.
24:32What's up with that?
24:34Deismann found this map, or the fragment of the map,
24:38and being able to read the script on it, he saw the name Piri Reis.
24:43Peter Reis was an important figure in Turkish naval history at that time
24:48because he had written a book called The Book of the Sea.
24:52He had written two different versions of it that are in different archives around the world.
24:57The possibility that Reis mapped Antarctica some 300 years ahead of its reported discovery is already surprising.
25:05But one missing detail makes this depiction even more interesting.
25:10There are some who believe the map depicts Antarctica without an ice cap.
25:14And if that's the case, that means it could be based on references that are at least 6,000 years old,
25:19when the ice cap of Antarctica was 160 miles away from where it currently is.
25:24If that's the case, it would also mean that it predates the oldest known map, the Omega Mundi, by thousands of years.
25:31That's why some have suggested the map's true author wasn't Piri Reis at all, pointing to a design element of the map as evidence.
25:39Some people think that this map is an example of the Mercator projection,
25:42a cartography technique that wouldn't actually be invented until later on in the 16th century.
25:47Mercator projection gives modern maps their lines of longitude and latitude.
25:52The radial lines seen on the Piri Reis map are, for some, the fingerprints of the true map maker.
26:00Someone ahead of their time and possibly out of this world.
26:04Some people have taken that theory and run with it, posing that the Ottomans were actually in contact with aliens
26:10who gave them the details that they would need to create the map.
26:14Because, according to them, it's just too advanced for people of the 16th century to have created.
26:26For years, the Vinland map was heralded as the earliest depiction of the New World, dating from the 15th century.
26:33But a recent analysis revealed it to be a fake, drawn up with 20th century ink.
26:39It's enough to have us asking if the Piri Reis map is everything that theorists claim.
26:45Let's ask our experts.
26:51First, we tackle the question of whether the true author of the map is extraterrestrial.
26:56If this was something an alien had seen from above the air and was able to document it,
27:02I think it would be more accurately depicted.
27:05And what you see here is such a tiny fraction of what the whole of Antarctica looks like.
27:10There are other things about it that aren't correct, like North America.
27:14The Caribbean isn't exactly correct.
27:16I don't believe that this knowledge comes from anything extraterrestrial.
27:21If aliens didn't have a hand in this map, what about its allegedly advanced use of Mercator projection?
27:27That's not Mercator. It looks a bit like it, but this is instead what we call a Portolan map.
27:34Portolan means a port map.
27:36And the radial patterns we see are from a fixed point where boats would navigate to hit various ports.
27:45But the appearance of Antarctica is at the dead center of all the questions about the Piri Reis map.
27:52So, what is it that we're looking at here?
27:55Starting sometime in the 15th, 16th century, 17th century, there was more and more talk that there must be some other continent to the south of us.
28:06They called it Terra Australis.
28:09It was actually a concept that came all the way back from the Greeks.
28:13The Greeks also thought there must be some sort of continent down there.
28:17But enough people talked about it where people were putting it theoretically on maps.
28:22The Terra Australis explanation also sheds light on why there's no ice cap on this map's Antarctica.
28:30Some people suggested that it was a picture of Antarctica before it was iced over.
28:37And that's an interesting possibility, but we now have the technology to look under the ice and see where the actual landforms are.
28:46It is nothing like what's portrayed in this map.
28:50Our verdict? We're looking at Terra Australis.
28:58This isn't the work of aliens, just an example of a skilled cartographer attempting to map out the unknown.
29:05And speaking of the unknown, what on earth is this thing right here?
29:10A dinosaur? A mythical sea creature?
29:13Maybe that's a mystery for another time.
29:15In a 2007 survey, 57% of Catholics, 66% of Evangelicals, and 10% of Jews reported having a personal experience with a guardian angel.
29:29Could this next story be proof they really do exist?
29:33November 2008, Charlotte, North Carolina.
29:37Colleen Banton is at the bedside of her chronically ill 14-year-old daughter, Chelsea.
29:42Chelsea is battling severe pneumonia, and she's attached to a ventilator.
29:46Doctors have told Colleen they are running out of options.
29:49As Colleen prays, a nurse calls her attention to a nearby security monitor.
29:54And that's when Colleen sees something extraordinary on the screen.
29:58She takes out her camera and photographs the monitor, capturing this.
30:03A bright spot is flaring in front of the doors to the pediatric ICU.
30:07It resembles a human figure with wings.
30:10I said, it looks like an angel, but I've never seen anything like this.
30:17I looked down the hall.
30:18I don't see it there.
30:19You could only see it in the TV monitor that was in there.
30:24So I was blown away.
30:26It stayed there for probably an hour or so.
30:30Again, it's only visible on the computer screen, not the wall itself.
30:35Colleen calls what happened next with her daughter a miracle.
30:39And when they took her off with the machine, all of her stats were perfect.
30:44She was fine.
30:45She didn't have to go back on the ventilator or anything.
30:48Even the doctor said, that's from that angel.
30:51That angel healed her.
30:53And not just an angel, a guardian angel.
30:56The idea that every person has their own specific guardian angel is a common Christian belief.
31:02The idea that there is one angel perhaps assigned to them to look out for them in times of need.
31:07In the Christian tradition and the Jewish tradition, and even in the Islamic tradition in the Hadith, we see angels being created from light.
31:17Stories within these religious traditions support Colleen's belief that a divine healing power saved her daughter.
31:24We see stories of Jesus curing those people who are crippled, those people who are blind, and restoring them back to health.
31:32We see numerous stories of angels exhibiting their healing powers.
31:37For example, in the Gospel of John, we see the stirring of the Pool of Bethesda.
31:41So, healing miracles are prominent in the Bible.
31:45We have as many as 36 million hospital admissions a year, 140 million emergency room admissions.
31:52So, it's not surprising that people of faith would assume that there would be angelic events happening in a hospital itself.
32:01In a previous episode, we brought you the story of an alleged angel that saved a driver from a potentially horrific SUV crash.
32:10In that case, our experts were stumped.
32:12But what's going on here?
32:14Since this is an image of an image, is it possible that the light we're seeing is simply the flash from Colleen's camera?
32:26It's definitely not.
32:27It's embedded within the display.
32:30You can see the lines of the monitor within that image.
32:32So, this is definitely not a flash.
32:34There is something occurring within that space.
32:37There is something that the camera is seeing.
32:39The big question is whether the source of this light is divine or not.
32:44I can't confirm or deny what the source of that light is, but these doors appear to be ajar.
32:49Could they have influenced the light within that region to reflect or refract information up onto that corner to demonstrate the shape of something?
32:58There's a number of components that can result in error or create artifacts, and we see this a lot in surveillance technology.
33:04Some surveillance cameras and digital sensors can see beyond the spectrum of light visible to the human eye.
33:10So, it's possible that whatever's beaming into this space when the doors open might go unseen by people at the hospital.
33:17The source of the light remains unknown, but what's undeniable is the miraculous timing of Chelsea's recovery.
33:23It's remarkable that so many things happened at exactly the right time.
33:27The fact that she didn't die, she came back.
33:31So, the bottom line is miracles can happen.
33:35They are rare.
33:36That's why they're called miracles.
33:38I think after everything is said and done, there's simply not enough data to make a definitive conclusion.
33:44Our verdict, unexplained phenomenon.
33:52We may not have definitive proof about the source of that image, but we do have a story of miraculous recovery.
33:59Chelsea was able to make it home weeks after her mom took the picture, just in time for Christmas.
34:05She brought absolute joy to her family.
34:08But unfortunately, in the following years, her health issues got worse.
34:13And she passed away in 2015 at the age of 21.
34:20Did you know that our National Forest Service manages a whopping 193 million acres of land?
34:28That's almost 9% of the country.
34:30So, is it really so hard to believe that Bigfoot could be living somewhere in there?
34:35April 28th, 2009.
34:38We're in North Carolina's Uari National Forest.
34:41Bigfoot researcher Mike Green has set up thermal imaging cameras to record through the evening.
34:47He says he's encountered Bigfoot in this forest before, and he's determined to capture it on film.
34:53After leaving the cameras unattended for a few hours, he returns to see that they've recorded this.
34:59The thermal imagery makes it hard to identify, but if we push in and enhance the footage, we can clearly see a large humanoid figure skulking between the trees.
35:10Green estimated the figure to be over seven and a half feet tall.
35:14The technique of putting out a recorder or a camera and then leaving the area, it frankly makes a lot of sense.
35:21Sasquatches are paranoid enough, and if there's a person lurking around, they're going to be acting differently than they would if they were alone.
35:29Then, nearly 10 years later, in 2018, another Bigfoot researcher, Matt Hooper of the Carolina Cryptid Field Research Team, set up audio equipment in the same forest.
35:41I started hearing the stories of what other people were encountering out there, so I went out there for five days with a friend.
35:47I had my recorders going as usual.
35:50And when Matt checks them the following morning, he captured a howl in the distance.
35:54Then, another roar that seems to overlap with other howls.
36:05It's hard to hear, so we'll pump up the volume.
36:15You can see it, the spikes on the waveform, and it's moving through the tree line.
36:25Hooper wouldn't tell us where in the forest he recorded the sound, which is standard practice among Bigfoot researchers.
36:32I don't share my best spots for the same reason I don't share my best fishing spots.
36:36I don't want people going in there and planting evidence and trying to hoax me.
36:41Do these overlapping howls suggest multiple creatures possibly staking claim to their territory?
36:47Stories from the past suggest that Sasquatch are indeed territorial.
36:51Take the case of Portlock, Alaska.
36:54The prime peninsula that was chock full of valuable game and shellfish was found mysteriously abandoned by the local natives,
37:01who told stories about people being torn apart by the Nantinok, or hairy man.
37:07An attempt made in the 1920s to industrialize the area failed,
37:12after continued disappearances and strange animal attacks prompted all the townsfolk to flee,
37:18leaving the area deserted to this very day.
37:22Seeing one of these things must be horrifying, especially if it's chasing you out of an area.
37:28But I argue that these kinds of animals are not overtly aggressive,
37:32because I think if they were out to get us, there'd be very few of us left.
37:36Going back to that footage from 2009, Mike Green, the man who collected it,
37:45said whatever was in the video stole two things from his camp,
37:49a Zagnut candy bar and a squeaky toy that belonged to his grandchildren.
37:53This is why many people now call this the squeaky thermal.
37:58Could these recordings be proof that beasts are lurking somewhere within the Uwari National Forest?
38:04Let's talk to the experts.
38:10Let's start by taking a closer look at Mike Green's thermal video.
38:14I am impressed by the shape of the head.
38:16It has a kind of receding brow to a high point posteriorly.
38:21That is a characteristic of hominoids.
38:24Lacking a large brain, they don't have the prominent forehead that a human skull would have.
38:28Still, the image is too ambiguous to be convincing proof by itself.
38:33What about the audio recording?
38:35There does not seem to be any edits or any discrepancies that would lead me to believe that there was anything tampered in the recording.
38:48It appears to be an authentic recording.
38:51Many people thought these could just be coyotes.
38:54So we compare the sounds.
38:55It's not a coyote.
39:07Next, we compare the recording to the so-called Ohio Howls, recorded in Columbiana County, Ohio in 1994.
39:15Some Bigfoot researchers consider it to be the genuine sound of a Bigfoot howling and disturbing local dogs.
39:22The Ohio Howls have this change of frequency.
39:38The sounds from the Huari recording have a very constant frequency there from different sources.
39:44So if that's not a match, then what are we hearing?
39:48Although the exact location of the recording is unknown, one clue might be an important landmark just several miles outside of the Huari forest.
39:58That's the North Carolina Zoo.
40:00One of the questions would be, how far away from the zoo could it be if there isn't much wind?
40:06Probably we could hear a zoo animal perhaps up to half a mile away.
40:10So we don't have a way of knowing exactly what the sound source is here.
40:14This would be from some other origin, something worthy of investigation.
40:22Our verdict? We're calling this one an unexplained sound.
40:26Both the video and audio recording weren't enough for our experts to come to a conclusion.
40:32So if there is a monster lurking in the Huari National Forest, it will remain anonymous until further investigation.
40:40And that's our show for tonight.
40:42Thank you so kindly for watching.
40:44And keep those cameras rolling.
