00:00Previously, on Project Runway Canada, the future is here.
00:04Welcome to your avant-garde challenge.
00:08This week, you're working in...
00:10Teams.
00:11And two designers from the losing team will be out.
00:15I would love to get that win this week.
00:17I gotta finish the shorts, finish the busts, finish the boots.
00:20Future, avant-garde, awkward pieces.
00:24Awkward pieces.
00:27Foster.
00:28Charles.
00:29And Leland.
00:30Top book tonight was innovative, conceptual, and inventive.
00:33The winner of this challenge is...
00:35Charles.
00:36Neymar Delarumic.
00:38I'm sorry, but you're both out.
00:41At stake for the winner.
00:44From TD, a career-launching investment of $100,000.
00:48And a feature in Elle Canada magazine.
00:51With global supermodel Coco Rocha.
00:54Fashion designer, Spencer Badu.
00:57Creative director, Aurora James.
01:00And legendary fashion journalist, Jeanne Beckert.
01:03This is Project Runway Canada.
01:06Watch me do my thing.
01:16Ooh.
01:17There's the box.
01:19Ooh.
01:20Joe Fresh.
01:21I wonder what it is.
01:23It's like Christmas.
01:24I like Joe Fresh.
01:25I like Joe Fresh.
01:26The box says Joe Fresh, but I have no idea what's inside.
01:29I'm excited.
01:30Look.
01:31I'm ready.
01:32Oh.
01:33Hey.
01:34Hello, designers.
01:35Hello.
01:36See you found some surprises.
01:37No peeking just yet.
01:38Life loves to keep things interesting.
01:39For me, that means one minute I'm walking the dog.
01:40The next, I'm walking a runway.
01:41And my wardrobe has to keep up.
01:42That's why I rely on strong foundation pieces.
01:43But I still like to keep things fresh.
01:44Let me show you.
01:45Ooh.
01:46Hello, models.
01:47Hey.
01:48So chic.
01:49Yes, girl.
01:50Every look you see here is from Joe Fresh.
01:51Each styled around one versatile wardrobe stage.
01:53And it's really interesting.
01:54It's really interesting.
01:55For me, that means one minute I'm walking the dog.
01:57The next, I'm walking a runway.
01:59And my wardrobe has to keep up.
02:00That's why I rely on strong foundation pieces.
02:03But I still like to keep things fresh.
02:05Let me show you.
02:06Ooh.
02:07Hello, models.
02:08Hey.
02:09So chic.
02:10Yes, girl.
02:11Every look you see here is from Joe Fresh.
02:13Each styled around one versatile wardrobe staple.
02:16Designed right here in Canada.
02:18These go-to's are at the core of endless ensembles.
02:22Easy to dress up, dress down, or make your own.
02:25No matter what's on your schedule.
02:28For this challenge, you'll be creating one look that transforms
02:32in real time from one life moment to the next.
02:37A reveal.
02:38And it has to happen flawlessly on the runway.
02:42I really feel sick.
02:43My head is just spinning like this is a two-in-one look.
02:46Wild.
02:47That's right.
02:48You're designing two looks in one.
02:51The star of both looks must be your Joe Fresh wardrobe staple.
02:56You cannot alter the staple in any way.
03:00And be sure the transition is effortless.
03:03Because you will also be judged on technical execution.
03:07I've never made a transformative look for a runway before.
03:10This is going to be super hard.
03:12Wondering which classic you'll be working with?
03:15Open those boxes.
03:16Ooh.
03:17A white shirt.
03:18It's so soft.
03:19Wow.
03:20It's so flueless.
03:21Ooh.
03:22Animal.
03:23Meow.
03:24Wow.
03:25Okay, burgundy jacket.
03:26The model you see wearing the piece in your box.
03:33That's your model.
03:34That's your match.
03:35This is a two-day challenge.
03:37You have 40 minutes to sketch your design before you join Aurora at the fabric store.
03:42Make your story clear.
03:44All the best designers get sketching.
03:48Are you ready?
03:49Yeah.
03:50Let's do this.
03:51Ooh.
03:52Okay, I would wear the hell out of this sweater.
03:53We both got sweaters.
03:54This crew neck sweater has to be the star of the show.
03:55It adds a level of difficulty because the essential piece does not fit into my aesthetic.
04:11What did you get?
04:13A little school girl vest.
04:14Oh, that's going to be so much fun to work with.
04:17It's giving private school girl vibes, and I love that for me because I already know
04:22what I'm going to do.
04:23It's going to have a little asymmetrical plaid overlay on top of the skirt, which is going
04:28to flip up into a corset.
04:30Wow, that's a perfect thing for you.
04:33Yeah, it felt a little baggy on her though, but...
04:36It's a really nice color.
04:38I'm on top of the world.
04:40I got leopard?
04:41Leopard?
04:42I can't believe you got that dress, Leland.
04:44Oh my gosh, it's fun.
04:45It's fate.
04:46I feel like I live in leopard, like live, laugh leopard is my life motto.
04:52Is that girl wearing a skirt as a top right now?
04:55Yes, that's the skirt.
04:56It's a skirt as a top.
04:57My theme is 8am to 8pm.
04:59So I'm making a big track suit that's going to reveal into an evening dress.
05:04I'm really going to sell the reveal of it.
05:07I know how to do some really crazy drag reveals.
05:09I'm like, this is the one that's getting it.
05:12I'm so excited.
05:13My essential item is a black and white t-shirt.
05:16This was fate.
05:17This is so me.
05:18It is.
05:19I love it.
05:20Black and white is a DNA of my work.
05:23The universe is saying, this is your challenge.
05:26I think the best way to approach this is something that's not gimmicky.
05:31I'm going to make a jacket that's completely reversible.
05:34I'm also making sort of a utility belt that has pockets.
05:37It's really easy to go extreme here.
05:40The statement I'm trying to make is one that's more subtle.
05:43It's practical.
05:44I want these pieces to look like they live in one person's wardrobe.
05:49I really like a nice clean white shirt because I wear this shirt every day.
05:54This week, I need to prove that I can do something great because I was twice in the bottom.
06:02Look.
06:03Beautiful.
06:04Absolutely.
06:05I do a lot of two-in-one garments.
06:09I always love to like reveal.
06:11So I'm going to do this.
06:12I want to show me.
06:13So I'm making a jacket and a jeans with a corset belt with like fringe.
06:19I'm just happy to do this this week.
06:21We're happy to also just have you here still.
06:23Crazy, huh?
06:25It was an emotional runway last week.
06:28You know.
06:29If I can't make it with this, I just need to go home.
06:34So what are you planning?
06:40Oh.
06:42I'm not a vest person.
06:43Vests are very Aladdin.
06:47However, I need to stick with something that I know I'm good at which is jackets.
06:52So I am making a skirt that turns into a jacket.
06:58So she's going from work to a hockey game.
07:02Sweet.
07:03Right?
07:04This is going to be good.
07:05I'm getting like antsy now.
07:07I just want to get to the fabric store.
07:09You're already ready for the store?
07:13Hello, designers.
07:15Hi.
07:16I hope you're ready to make some fresh moments happen.
07:19You're going to have 30 minutes and $350 to get your materials together.
07:26Okay, go.
07:29I want to.
07:31Spicy already.
07:33This was the one that I wanted.
07:35Oh, wow.
07:36I knew what I wanted.
07:37You knew what you wanted.
07:38Yes.
07:39The girl with a plan.
07:40I am looking for a very bold plaid.
07:42Maybe mustard.
07:43Maybe red.
07:44Maybe blue.
07:45This being a first for me.
07:47I'm worried because the stakes are high.
07:49I got this two-net sweater.
07:51So I'm thinking of office wear.
07:53Going from office to a cocktail party.
07:56So I'm going to be making a vest with denim pants to transform into a skirt.
08:01I think I have what I need.
08:04Do you think this is too classy to make this a sheer skirt?
08:07You're walking a line, I will say.
08:08Yeah.
08:09But you could walk the right side of it.
08:11Yeah.
08:12This is your item.
08:13This is my item.
08:14Okay.
08:15This is like a maybe.
08:16So more animal prints.
08:17I think it might be too much.
08:18So I might go over the next.
08:19It might be too much.
08:20Yeah.
08:21Don't make it like Lion King.
08:22You know what I mean?
08:23You're right.
08:24Lion King's not the vibe.
08:25Not the vibe.
08:26Oh, no.
08:27I've got a roll of fabric that I love.
08:30This is all that's left?
08:32There's not enough.
08:33Are you able to check for me if you have this in the back?
08:35And I panic.
08:37These are my two picks.
08:38Uh-huh.
08:39Um.
08:40Well, none of them work, right?
08:41It's a bit tricky.
08:42And I think a solid might not work.
08:43Smaller print.
08:44Yeah, find something else.
08:45So this one, I'm going to take a yard and a half.
08:47Five minutes left.
08:49Maybe let me try this.
08:50Who hasn't cashed out yet?
08:52Foster?
08:53Is there any chiffon like this with a small print this color?
08:56Oh.
08:57Yes.
08:58Can I get through it?
08:59Get cutting.
09:00One yard of the rim.
09:02Let's go!
09:03Charles!
09:04Get it!
09:05Run!
09:06Run!
09:18So how's your draping going, Rome?
09:20It's going good.
09:21How about you?
09:22It's going good, too.
09:23I have this adorable blood orange cardigan.
09:26It's got a little crop and three buttons on the front.
09:28And I'm trying to include multiple transformative elements.
09:32My biggest piece is the skirt I'll be doing.
09:34It starts as a bubble skirt and then unties into a floor-length pleated skirt with a drop-waist detail.
09:39I'll be making a white tank top with a removable collar and removable cuff.
09:43It's going to be so much choreography involved this week.
09:46I'm going to want to practice with my model, like, many times.
09:50Who's, like, six foot?
09:54I am.
09:55Can I measure your crotch?
09:57My what?
09:58Buy me a drink first.
10:01I am very excited to see what you all are wearing.
10:08I am very curious about this fabric.
10:12What is your essential item?
10:14So my essential item is this pinstripe shirt over here.
10:18And I'm thinking to have a swimsuit.
10:21Oh, wow, a swimsuit.
10:22Yes.
10:23My inspiration is the digital nomad going from work from home straight to their beach day.
10:29Whole skirt hides underneath the pants?
10:31Yeah, but I'll show you the fabric.
10:32I don't think it will be too hard to hide.
10:34It just feels, like, gothic to me, not beachy.
10:37Well, she's going to have a white swimsuit.
10:39I feel like white and black go well together.
10:42Sometimes the judges love it and sometimes they don't.
10:45But I'm hopeful that I'll be able to pull this off.
10:53Kat.
10:54Hey.
10:55What's happening this week?
10:56Um, something fun.
10:58Tell me where your model is starting and where are they going?
11:00She's working in marketing.
11:02That night she's going to see a country show.
11:05And then how does it swap?
11:06When she goes like that, schlock, it's fringe and snakeskin motifs.
11:12Oh, wow.
11:13I'm a city girl.
11:14But two years ago when I went to Virginia to work with horses, it was the most wonderful
11:22experience of my life.
11:24And I brought my sewing machine there.
11:26Everything that I did was really Western vibe.
11:29It really came to me and I really embraced it.
11:33And I just found myself.
11:35I want them to see me this week.
11:36I want that too.
11:37I have mixed feelings about my piece because it covers most of the body.
11:46I have to think outside the box.
11:48So look one is a blazer over a long skirt.
11:52Look two is a blazer over a bralette and a pair of pants.
11:56The reveal is the skirt comes off the dress.
11:58I feel good from last week and I just wanted to continue celebrating.
12:03Charles, Foster, Leland, you are our top designers of the week.
12:09Thank you so much.
12:10Best combination ever, cardio and sewing.
12:16So this is a coat that starts as a dress?
12:18Yes.
12:19She's coming from work and then she's going to a hockey game.
12:22They feel like the tie around the waist is actually more casual.
12:26Yeah, I don't know where anyone goes with a vest. I'm sorry.
12:29Kat's wearing a vest right now.
12:32People wear them.
12:34You know?
12:35It's really my go-to basic.
12:38And that's the challenge.
12:39Yeah, that's why I was trying to cover it up.
12:41I know, but it has to be a focal piece of the look.
12:45Heather.
12:46I'm more worried about the transformation than I am about working the essential.
12:51I do feel confident. I think I'm doing something completely different from everyone else.
12:58Most people are doing a day to night look, but oh my God, turning this bikini bottom inside out 4,000 times to make sure that all the straps are at the right length is very difficult.
13:09And I'm definitely most nervous about the tear away element. I don't know if these magnets are going to work how I'm expecting.
13:16I'm just hoping I have time to test some different things out because there's no room for mistakes here.
13:20Looks awesome.
13:24It looks beautiful.
13:25And this is the reveal. So it's going to be like that with the snaps. And then...
13:30But I think I'll put more things.
13:34I really hope it's going to be dramatic. With snaps, you have to have like a really good movement. So it's really, it's not stuck.
13:43And under the arm, it needs to be a magnet. And when she will arrive, she will like unsnap and the legs too.
13:53I wasn't sure how this was going to like fall down, but I feel like it's like actually like perfect. If I just put a zipper right there.
13:57Yeah, it looks good this way.
13:58Right?
13:59Yeah.
14:00I'm very worried because all the transitions seem to be going pretty well and I'm now realizing that the pants just not working out.
14:08Definitely bit off more than I could chew.
14:11Transforming a denim pants into a skirt. I haven't quite figured it out yet.
14:15How is she going to pull it up? Where am I going to tie it? How am I going to hide the denim completely?
14:21Worst case scenario is I'm unable to figure out the transition.
14:30How are you?
14:31I'm trying to take away.
14:32This is a real challenge. Not only do we have to show off an essential item from Joe Fresh,
14:45we have to have two distinct looks and one very clean transition. And so the stress is on.
14:51It looks like you have made progress here. So I got rid of the jacket. Okay. And now I'm going with a cape and then it converts into a dress.
15:08I like the cape idea. Make sure it flows nicely into a dress. This is going to give Blair Waldorf Upper East Side New York. I'm not nervous at all.
15:29Hey. Hey. How are you? Good. Okay. So I'm worried about the essential item getting lost in this.
15:39Oh, I hope not. The outfit will be open and you will be able to see it.
15:43I think I'd like to do at least three to four different changes of this outfit. And the last one is basically presenting the dress.
15:50According to the brief, the essential item has to be a feature in both looks. Totally. I need to highlight the item. It's sticking out the front. How much more can I highlight it?
16:03Hey, Charles. Hi, Aurora. Progress on the jacket. Yeah. This piece itself is completely reversible. Fun. It turns into this.
16:12My concern is that the judges are going to look at this and be like, Charles wanted to make this look and just suck the t-shirt behind it. So if you can find some way to integrate white into other parts of the outfit, it will bring it together so much better.
16:31I use a lot of lines in my work, which is my signature. So I really want to incorporate white ribbon on the sleeves. And I think it can just be a tiny little detail that pulls everything together.
16:42Hey, Rome. Hi. This is a skirt and a pant that transforms. So I changed my idea. Okay. So I chose to do a pencil denim skirt that is going to go into this cocktail skirt. This is an A-line skirt? Yeah. Is it going to be fitting properly if there's another skirt? It is going to be fitting properly if there's another skirt. I can't.
17:11Fit it in properly. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I really want to see how the mechanics of this whole thing are working out. I have to figure this bottom out. There's no room for malfunction. So I got to get it right. I'm just worried about time. Yeah. Transitions take rehearsal. We're going to need a second with these models and run through it. I've got your models. Come on in. Ooh. Yay. So fresh. Yay.
17:41How is my friend? Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Designers, you have 30 minutes with your models. Oh, wow. It was good.
17:54Oh, my God. I want to win this week. Ah. That was chic. Mine's the best. It's going to be good. I'm so excited. Fingers crossed.
18:04Turn for me, please.
18:07Yeah. These models are going in front of Coco Rocha. It's one smooth transition. That's all she gets.
18:13Remember, the collar stays up when you do it, and the collar stays down when you're the other way.
18:18Some people have all these crazy reveals, all of these magnets. And for me, I'm not going in that direction.
18:24I'm going clean. I'm going polished. I'm going Charles Lou.
18:26Do you feel like the shirt, the essential piece, is shining?
18:35I think so. I think once this layer comes off, it's going to be all shirt.
18:39All the lines are sort of throwing me.
18:41I feel like the patterns are working together, to be honest. So we'll see what the judges think.
18:46I like the combination. There's no other fabric to use. So the judges will like it.
18:52So the skirt itself is going to be cut much shorter. When she gets to the end of the runway, then she opens it.
19:01She's, like, unclipping it. Still a lot of work to do in the skirt.
19:05Yeah. Yep. Okay.
19:06But keep thinking about it.
19:07I will.
19:07All right. Thanks, Rome.
19:09Models, thank you. We'll see you tomorrow.
19:12Bye. I'll see you tomorrow, okay? Bye.
19:15Bye.
19:17You're not going to get to practice with your models again until tomorrow.
19:20And there's a lot of work left to do in these transitions, okay?
19:26Get to work.
19:29The drape has to lay properly in order for it to look good.
19:32And so I keep having to fix the interior.
19:36I'm fighting for my life.
19:38I'm cracking under the pressure.
19:40Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day.
19:42Bye.
19:42Bye.
19:50It's a little quiet.
19:53I think the impending doom of the transitions is kind of slowly creeping in on us.
19:59I have my skirt part done.
20:02It's just, like, the mechanicals of the transformation is going to take the most time.
20:05Oh, I agree.
20:07Really just what everybody's, I think, trying to figure out.
20:10Yeah.
20:10Has to be a good reveal in the runway.
20:13Oh, 100%.
20:14No malfunctions.
20:14Happy runway day.
20:24Woo!
20:25Hey!
20:26Let's do it.
20:29It's the day of all days.
20:31Today, I'm just hoping that we stay on schedule.
20:34This bikini is taking a lot longer than I was expecting, and I have to finish sewing in all
20:40these magnets.
20:41So I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.
20:43I still have to figure out the top for my second look, and I have a lot of details to
20:52make.
20:52It's time to get on the floor and get the hammer out.
21:03Happy runway day.
21:06Your models are back.
21:08You're really serious?
21:10You have 40 minutes for your fittings.
21:14Get practicing.
21:16I am not finished yet.
21:17Okay.
21:18It's just, uh, I thought you were gonna come a little bit later.
21:23I didn't finish the pants.
21:24I needed to put the grommets in so she can, like, reveal.
21:28Oh, this is so stupid.
21:30And it's killing me that it's not done yet.
21:32It just looks weird, but time to put the grommets, and then you to practice, you know?
21:36Yeah, it's gonna practice.
21:37It's just like we don't have a lot of time.
21:39Okay.
21:45Yeah, I think this looks great.
21:49It's looking cute.
21:50And this still pops in the first look.
21:53Oh, my God.
21:53Yeah, yeah, yeah.
21:54It is the shirt of it.
21:55How many transitions are there?
21:57Currently four to five.
21:59That's a lot.
22:00Am I extra?
22:03I think that brief was, like, one.
22:06So five is sort of more of a performance than a transition?
22:10Um, this is what I do.
22:13It could have been even more over the top.
22:15Want to do these again?
22:16Yes.
22:16Let's do it.
22:22Hi.
22:23I see we're still sewing.
22:25Still sewing.
22:26Have we been able to practice any of the transitions yet?
22:29Not yet.
22:29Just need to tailor it a bit more.
22:31I'm concerned a little bit.
22:33Not gonna lie to you.
22:35This fitting is not going well at all.
22:37I still have things to finish,
22:39and I need to have something going down the runway.
22:42Just want to see it on your hip, sort of.
22:46All right, designers, when you're ready,
22:48take your models to the L'Oreal Paris Glam Room.
22:55Looks so beautiful.
22:58It's nice.
22:58The eye makeup is just gorgeous.
23:02Like, I love it.
23:04So she's a private schoolgirl, gone bad,
23:07and I really just want, like, a Movi neutral matte lip on her.
23:10The perfect one.
23:11It's L'Oreal Paris Infallible Lack Resistance in Breakfast in Bed.
23:15It's gonna be smudge-proof, and it's gonna last the whole time.
23:18The hoops that I've jumped through for a 30-second transformation, it's not easy.
23:32Freaking hell.
23:34There's so much to do.
23:36I'm wondering if I should just let her unzip the back.
23:39This clip is falling out.
23:40Okay, so let's just fix your snaps first.
23:43Delaine is helping me put the metallic clips on,
23:47because I cannot see where it needs to go.
23:49I'm frantic at this point, and I usually ask for help.
23:52Just add, like, an extra snap.
23:53Rome, I can tell he's stressed.
23:56Come on, come on.
23:57No, it's not the time.
23:58Try not to be flustered.
23:59Just calm.
23:59It's okay.
24:00Yeah.
24:01I know that it's a competition, but I would want someone to help me.
24:07I just feel like giving up.
24:08Thank you, Delaine.
24:09Thank you so much.
24:11But I cannot go home.
24:12I came here for a reason, and it is to prove that I'm a great designer.
24:16Time for the runway!
24:18Ah!
24:19Ah!
24:20No!
24:21No!
24:21So, it's just weird.
24:24So, okay, we'll leave it like that.
24:26Where were we sewing this?
24:28Right here, eh?
24:28The tape, I don't want it to come undone.
24:31My model looks fine.
24:33I'm gonna leave you for a second.
24:34Right now, my priority is Rome.
24:36He's my friend, and I'm gonna help him.
24:39Like, this will be connected to her.
24:41Yeah.
24:41Like this?
24:42Yeah.
24:42I feel disappointed in myself, because I usually have it together.
24:45But, I'm a strong man.
24:47Time to hit the runway!
24:48Let's do this!
24:49You guys know.
24:50This isn't the end.
24:52All right, let's go.
24:53Let's do it.
24:54Woo-hoo!
25:14Hi, designers!
25:16Hello!
25:16Hello!
25:16This week, your challenge was to create a two-in-one look that tells a story using a Joe Fresh staple as the centerpiece.
25:25Will your design be a fresh take, or will you tell a stale tale?
25:30Time to say hello to your judges.
25:32Time to say hello to your judges.
25:34Fashion designer, Spencer Baddow.
25:36Hi, Spencer Baddow.
25:37Hi, Spencer Baddow.
25:38Hi, designers.
25:39Fashion journalist, Jeannie Becker.
25:41Hi, everybody.
25:43And, meet Canadian model, designer, and entrepreneur, the one and only, Lauren Chan.
25:51Hi, designers!
25:52Hi!
25:53Oh, my goodness.
25:54Lauren is just one of the best models.
25:58They got giddy.
25:59I'm giddy.
26:00All right, let's start the show.
26:03First look, I think it's very wearable.
26:13The vest is really looking great with the skirt.
26:15The second look, she puts those straps up so flawlessly.
26:18She's just looking like the private little school girl that I really wanted.
26:22I'm really proud of it.
26:24Oh, she's stunning.
26:37I think I did a good job.
26:39My look is fresh.
26:41It's transformative.
26:42And the cardigan is really highlighted through this effortless everyday transitional piece.
26:47This outfit represents me.
27:05It looks ageless, timeless, looks like you could buy this.
27:09The part where it converts, it is super basic, but it's elegant.
27:16I want everything to look perfect.
27:27I don't want any mistake on that runway.
27:36She's rocking it.
27:37It's western, urban, and ecchi.
27:42Here I am.
27:43I'm really proud of this look.
27:51I feel I've really achieved my vision.
27:53I think the silk chiffon skirt was draped beautifully.
27:57Ooh.
27:58I love the vegan leather.
28:01And I feel these pants could not exist in a world without this blazer.
28:06I'm just hoping that I've impressed the judges with this transformation.
28:17Seeing my look come down the runway, I'm feeling underwhelmed.
28:20I don't love the fit of the skirt.
28:23I wanted it to be a bit more seamless.
28:25The challenge called for a two-in-one look.
28:28And I think the judges will probably notice how simple of a transformation it is.
28:33And I'm not happy with that.
28:35Oh, I'm so happy.
28:42She looks adorable.
28:44I think what I love most about my look is that it's such a shock when the shorts come off and the skirt falls down perfectly.
28:52It's just such a reveal.
28:54Okay.
28:55I think that I have absolutely delivered on two completely separate looks.
29:01And I'm really excited to hear what the judges think.
29:15Even though it's a subtle transition, these pieces would work in real life.
29:18And that was my goal the entire time.
29:20Couldn't be happier.
29:21Whew, that color combo.
29:36You got this, you got this.
29:38Yes!
29:39I'm so happy to see that leopard print dress just fly out of the tearaway pants.
29:44It literally looks perfect.
29:46Perfect.
29:53Designers, please step up to the runway.
30:00We saw some fresh takes tonight.
30:02But only one of you can be the winner.
30:04And one of you will be out.
30:09When I call your name, please step forward.
30:11The three of you are in and can leave the runway.
30:24Congratulations.
30:26Hey, I'm happy now.
30:27That was a tough one.
30:28It was tough.
30:29You know?
30:30We'd like to hear more about each of your designs.
30:31Let's bring out the first model.
30:32Rom, tell us more about this look.
30:33Daytime she's at work is scheduled Friday.
30:34So it's just a simple denim skirt.
30:35And then I wanted it to transform into this snake leather thing.
30:40Why do you keep looking at us like you're a little unsure of that story?
30:46Because I was just in my head a whole lot this week and I've kept having to tell myself do not crack, do not crack, keep going, keep going.
30:55This doesn't feel like you.
30:56The skirt for me is not an attractive fit.
31:12You know, the padding in the back almost looked like you were toting a little sleeping bag.
31:17When she came down, I thought, oh, well, if it's so bulky in the back, it's going to turn into a gown.
31:23I'm not sure if the application of the russian was necessary.
31:27But the drape I did gasp because to go from such casual denim into a patent snake draped skirt is a feat.
31:36Thank you, Rom.
31:38Oh, yikes.
31:41Poor Rom.
31:42Let's bring out the next look.
31:44Leland, what story are you trying to tell here?
31:51This is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
31:53I really want to kind of like juxtapose two different like timelines.
31:57And when I was given the leopard skirt, I decided to make it a dress moment.
32:03I enjoyed the first look.
32:05It looked great.
32:06But to the brief, sadly, it didn't really feature the leopard enough.
32:11I loved that tracksuit.
32:14I thought she looked great.
32:15But it really bothered me that the leopard was not there.
32:19That's the whoopsie.
32:20A look in the morning should be maybe a bit more toned down.
32:24I think there's a lot going on.
32:25Okay.
32:26I don't want you to tone it down.
32:28Instead of toning down, perhaps editing your design process earlier.
32:32Thank you, Leland.
32:33Here's the next look.
32:34I thought this was fun.
32:35It's very fun.
32:36So she's a fashion marketing girlie who needs to go to work, but it's Friday, and she has
32:50tickets to her favorite Western festival.
32:52Well done.
32:53The surprise, the fringes were just absolutely fabulous.
32:56It was a hooray for Kat moment.
32:59This is from corporate to cowgirl.
33:02Kat, I'm so proud of you.
33:03You know, I feel like with this look, I was really able to see who you are as a designer.
33:08Thanks.
33:09I really liked the reveal on this, but something like the pressing on the shirt stopped my eye.
33:15She worked all day.
33:16She worked.
33:17I believe that's called method modeling.
33:19Yeah.
33:20I was not expecting that.
33:23And that's the point of a transitional moment.
33:25But I loved the experience of watching it versus some.
33:28I was like, eat.
33:29Good job, Kat.
33:34So the lifestyle I was building for was mom on the go to mom on the town.
33:38She just wants to feel a little bit more elevated.
33:41It was just a soft and subtle change.
33:44I love it.
33:46I love the way a simple striped t-shirt really dictated the whole graphic aesthetic of this outfit.
33:52I thought it was pretty sensational.
33:55You didn't just take the shirt and use it as like a background piece.
33:58I loved how you incorporated the lines.
34:01And I think obviously that's probably something that you use within your work.
34:04I thought that this was ready to sell.
34:07Charles, thank you so much.
34:09Thank you so much.
34:11Let's bring out the next look.
34:16So my idea was to go from work from home by day to beach party by night.
34:22Okay.
34:23When your look came out, I thought immediately, oh, I think I know what this designer has to say.
34:30And then the look transitioned and I had no idea what you were trying to say.
34:35I loved Maya's look.
34:39I mean, I'm all for juxtaposition, but you know, a striped cotton shirt with that fabric just didn't jive for me.
34:47When I saw the model first come down, I was like, is it a school girl? Is it pajamas?
34:52And then I think when I saw the second look, I was like, oh, maybe it's like pajamas to lingerie.
34:57The shirt covers the swimsuit. So for me, there was just a bit of confusion when it comes to the story.
35:03I know your storytelling is like clever. This to me seemed mediocre.
35:09Thank you, Maya.
35:11I fiercely disagree with the judges.
35:14Little Feather, tell us about your look.
35:19So basically she owns a law firm, but she does like to have fun.
35:24So her cape transforms into a skirt.
35:27So she's ready to go to a concert.
35:30I loved this piece up here.
35:33I thought it was gorgeous.
35:34But once it came off, it felt like, you know, a middle school girl just putting her sweater around her waist.
35:39So the reveal felt flat.
35:41You're really talented.
35:43When I saw that cape, I was like, oh, my goodness.
35:45Like, I'm getting to see Little Feather shine.
35:47I just wish she would have maybe just been a bit more daring.
35:50Not crazy about the way it transformed just because you've got this thing sticking out in the front that's just not necessarily that attractive.
36:00But Jeannie whispered to me while this came down the runway, I would wear that.
36:05And I just want to commend you on having a Canadian fashion legend say that about something that you made.
36:11In and of itself, total win.
36:14Thank you, Little Feather.
36:17Thank you, designers.
36:19You can leave the runway.
36:27Oh, Maya.
36:29You believed in me, didn't you?
36:31I loved it.
36:33My mouth was on the floor.
36:35What a show, right?
36:37First of all, I'm just proud of them.
36:39Last runway, we gave them a pep talk.
36:43They did better.
36:44Let's talk about our tops.
36:46Honestly, I'm torn.
36:48You know, I think these were two amazing looks.
36:51Charles, as soon as that look came out, I was really impressed.
36:55It felt like it was all part of the same capsule.
36:57I thought the whole graphic effect was really interesting.
37:00Executed beautifully.
37:02He's really talented.
37:03But I think Kat had a more theatrical reveal.
37:06I was like Joe Fresh to Joe Fringe.
37:09Loved it.
37:10When I was getting like cowgirl.
37:11I thought it was very directional, which I appreciate.
37:14It was a great concept.
37:16She really proved herself this week.
37:18Who do you think had the best execution?
37:20Well, in that case, I think it would be clear as day.
37:22But who should be going home this week?
37:24All right, Little Feather.
37:25She said, like, I'm going to make a jacket.
37:27Something that I'm very good at.
37:29That wasn't the brief.
37:30To me, this wasn't a skirt.
37:32It was just an afterthought.
37:33I wasn't really clear on what the story was.
37:37I didn't really see enough effort or imagination put into the look as a whole.
37:42And I didn't think Rome did a great job either.
37:45It was one awkward skirt to another awkward skirt.
37:49I understand ruching requires a lot of work.
37:52However, to me, it looked like a sleeping bag stuck to her butt.
37:57Now we have Maya and Leland.
37:59Leland.
38:00I was like, what are we supposed to showcase?
38:02Oh, a leopard skirt.
38:04And when I saw that the skirt was just pulled up into a dress,
38:06I was disappointed.
38:07I think there was a lot going on.
38:09Yeah.
38:10And there wasn't really continuity in terms of the first look and the second look.
38:14It was like wah, wah.
38:16And then Maya.
38:17I was confused.
38:19I got pajamas to, like, lingerie.
38:21I was not expecting bathing suit sheer cover up.
38:24It seemed like more of a striptease than a transformation.
38:28And we couldn't see the showcase Joe Fresh piece.
38:31Where does that leave us?
38:32Let's bring the designers back out.
38:44When I call your name, please step forward.
38:46Cat.
38:47Cat.
38:50Charles.
38:54You both took your two and ones to another level.
38:58They didn't just show a moment.
39:00They were the moment.
39:01Excellent work.
39:02You are the top two of the night.
39:04Thank you so much.
39:06But there can only be one winner.
39:11The winning look wowed us with its imagination, playfulness, and it showed us exactly who the
39:18designer is.
39:21Tonight's winner is...
39:28Cat.
39:29Thank you, Joe.
39:30Thank you so much.
39:31To celebrate your win, Joe Fresh is rewarding you with $5,000.
39:36Oh, my God.
39:37Yeah.
39:38Congratulations.
39:39I got this name.
39:40I'm so happy.
39:41Charles, you are still in.
39:43Yes.
39:44Yes.
39:45And the two of you can lead the runway.
39:48Bye.
39:49Thank you so much.
39:51Wow.
39:52Woo!
39:53Yes!
39:54Winner!
39:55Yes!
39:56From the bottom to the top.
39:58Yes!
39:59Yes!
40:00I'm so happy, guys.
40:01Being in the bottom twice in a row, you really feel at some point that maybe you're just
40:07not on the same level as the others.
40:10and you're just next in line to go, but to win, you're like, oh, no, never mind.
40:16I really, really, really need it.
40:19Yeah.
40:20I'm happy you got it.
40:21Truly.
40:24Leland.
40:26Maya.
40:31We're giving you both another shot.
40:33You're both in and can lead the runway.
40:37Thanks, guys.
40:40Roam.
40:43The fit of that skirt was off.
40:47Little Feather.
40:49Your cape's transformation into a skirt was lackluster.
40:54This was an incredibly difficult decision.
41:00Little Feather.
41:01I'm sorry, but you're out.
41:05Roam.
41:07You're still in.
41:08You can leave the runway.
41:17Thanks, guys.
41:21Little Feather, you always just, you walk in a room and it's always just joy.
41:25This isn't the end at all by any means.
41:27Thank you so much for being here with us.
41:29Thank you for sharing your story and your journey and also just your smile.
41:34I feel good.
41:35I feel good.
41:36This competition has reminded me how blessed I am.
41:40How hard I've worked.
41:42Also that I can keep going.
41:45Bye, guys.
41:46So happy to meet you.
41:47Good luck.
41:48Good luck.
41:49Bye.
41:50I'm so, so blessed and happy to meet all of you guys.
41:56We're really proud of you.
41:58Can we give you a hug?
41:59Yes.
42:01I wanted to be proud.
42:03I want all of the Anishinaabe people to be like, there's a native designer and she made a nice garment.
42:14And Jeannie Becker wants to wear it.
42:21Next time on Project Runway Canada.
42:23This is a Paris challenge.
42:26You and your partner will create two distinct runway looks using only bathroom tissue.
42:32Bathroom tissue?
42:33Oh, my God.
42:35Help.
42:36How is everybody stabilizing this material?
42:38What is happening in the back?
42:40This is all ripping.
42:44It just disintegrated.
42:45The seams fell apart.
42:46I'm starting over.
42:47Damn.
42:48Is this what's drying?
42:49Don't worry about it.
42:50I'm a little worried.
