00:34We got 14 brand new girls that we are going to get to know and love over these next few months.
00:40And we've got some special surprises right here at page six with the Queen.

01:01But I'm so excited because the Meet the Queens just dropped the cast announcement.
01:06So we finally get to know who these 14 girls are, which is so exciting.

01:15You know, the theme was let there be light in a world that's shady.

01:20You know, literally RuPaul is now the voice of God.

01:30So it's a lot of like gold, rose gold, bronze hues.
01:34It was giving kind of like All Stars 3 promo where they did the gold.
01:38A little bit of like All Stars 6 where they did like the fire looks.
01:41Even was giving a little orange bracket, dare I say, of like, you know, All Stars 10.
01:45I love the silhouettes in the beginning too with their runway looks.
01:48It was just very cool to see that some of these, you know, looks really shined with the outline.

01:55Promos are always a very exciting time.
01:57I think, you know, it's the first introduction of these girls.

02:02They've been doing a lot of like colors recently for themes.
02:05You know, well, last season 17 was water, which was amazing.
02:08One of my favorite promos of recent years.
02:11This one, I think it was okay.
02:14I think it was, you know, I love when they used to do like themes.
02:17Like they used to do, I forget what season it was, but like it was Bob season where they did like 1950s and it was like a strict theme.
02:24Like now it's just like light, like interpret that as you want.

02:33We had the girls illuminated.
02:34So we will go through, let's go through every single girl.
02:37We're going to go through their looks, their meet the queen.
02:40So we know what to expect from all of these girls.

02:45You don't have to say who, but do you already have like a favorite or one to watch just from the meet the queen?

02:49I think I have like one or two, which we can share at the end, which means you have to watch to the end.
02:56So the first queen we meet is Athena Dion from Miami, Florida.

03:01She is the mother of Miami and that she is.
03:03I've been to Miami a couple of times and the Dion family is well known.
03:08It is the matriarch family of Miami.
03:10In fact, her granddaughter is on this season.

03:13Juicy is on the show and her daughter was Morphine Love Dion who we had on a previous season as well.
03:19So we've seen the Dion's before.
03:21We're going to see some more of them.
03:22I love the bumblebee gold wings on this look.
03:26I mean, I think she's, she's, she's giving veteran energy.

03:30Like she knows herself.

03:32She was about to take flight in these wings.
03:33It was Athena Airways, a hundred percent.
03:35But I think, I think she's great.
03:38I love when these seasoned queens, I love when mothers of the houses come to compete because, you know, we get legacy, we get experience.
03:46We love our young queens, but I love a girl that's been in the game.
03:50I love a girl that's seen some .

03:54So I think that'll be great.
03:55She's been doing drag for 16 years.
03:57Like I said, she is a well-known hostess in Miami.
04:00Also, apparently she's the drag mother of Plain Jane.

04:06I guess planes fly from Boston to Miami.

04:11They met on a JetBlue flight.
04:12She did say in her Meet the Queens that she is a very fertile mother.
04:15So I guess, you know, her offspring spreads far and wide.
04:20But very excited for Athena.
04:22Thought this was a great look, you know, to kick things off.
04:25And then we had Briar Blush from Boston, Massachusetts.
04:30Speaking of Plain Jane, I was like, Briar is bringing the plain, dare I say, .
04:36Yes, I mean.
04:37There was some saltiness here.
04:38I was like, this is so Boston.
04:39Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:40I mean, she is like stamped.
04:43I think she is like the mug of the season, dare I say.
04:46Her makeup is incredible.
04:47She's known for like this jet black hair that we saw in the promo look that she wears a lot.
04:52She went for pink in this outfit, which I don't have a problem with this one so much.
04:58There's another person in this lineup, which we'll get to where it's just hard because they're all wearing.

05:04They were told light and light can be interpreted in very different hues.
05:08But like when you see the cast altogether, some of these pink outfits were staring out like sore thumbs.

05:16Also, she spent half her interview thirsting over Nosferatu.
05:20I was like, this girl is loose.
05:22But did you see Nosferatu in the most recent one?
05:24She said the original Nosferatu.
05:26Never mind.
05:27She was like, there's something about that mustachioed slouched over vampire.
05:32I was like, I was like, is this, is this how you want to spend your time on the show?
05:36And she was, I was also a little confused because she had said that she considers herself not, not an alt girl.
05:42And she has a lot of like gothic horror inspirations a la Nosferatu.
05:47But this outfit is giving the complete opposite of that.
05:49She's in this bubblegum pink, like quinceanera dress.
05:52And you know, I don't know.
05:54So I'm interested to see in the season, will we see this more dark edgy side of her?
05:59Because right now I'm just getting like bubblegum real.
06:02As a New Yorker, I am openly shady about Boston.
06:05Good luck finding a drag show in Boston and good luck finding a good time in Boston.

06:13But yeah, excited to see what Little Miss Briar is going to be bringing this season.
06:19So then next we had Sierra Mist from Indianapolis, Indiana.
06:23What were your thoughts?
06:24Oh my God. Immediately I was like, okay, early fave.
06:27Yeah. Just so cool.
06:28I mean, I, I thought I was giving like, it was giving Aunt Gladys a little bit.
06:33Yeah. Right with the lips.

06:35I was like, this is on trend. It's part of the moment.
06:38I thought she seemed really cool.
06:39Yeah. So she describes herself as a shape shifting superstar.
06:43I mean, she's undoubtedly the alternative queen of the season.
06:47Uh, I loved this promo look.
06:49I thought, you know, it was, it was different.
06:51Those boots, those like star metallic boots.
06:54She was definitely going for like this, like sci-fi inspired, like, you know, look, which I thought was beautiful.
07:01Like you said, her mug is very distinct.
07:03I love a girl like that who, you know, you could put that face up against a makeup wipe and you know who that queen is.
07:09So, you know, Sierra is absolutely bringing that.
07:12Another really cool thing about her is she's a prosthetic makeup artist by trade.
07:16Oh my God. I had no idea.
07:17So yeah, she's been like, she's had work on, you know, big movie productions.
07:22I, you couldn't really see in this promo look, but she had a couple prosthetic elements like on her face and like on her breast area.
07:27But like, I'm excited to see if we can see that translate into the show.
07:31I know the girls are only given like an hour to prepare for main stage, but like if we can see some of those, you know, uh, SFX, you know, talents.

08:19She's in this bubblegum pink outfit, which it's fine, but like, we'll put the cast photo up and she sticks out like a sore thumb.

12:50Like she's, she came in as half Pegasus, half diva.

12:54And the, you know, the wing is off the side, which I guess is more like a Pegasus.

14:24Just like her mom, she brought her own set of wings, but hers were a little, a little smaller.
14:30She kind of gave like, she reminded me of like the, the wired ribbon that my mom uses at like Christmas to wrap presents.
14:36She just kind of had these like protruding elements.
14:39Um, juicy is small.
14:41Juicy is like George's like stature.
14:43She is a small queen.
14:45These are things we need to know because sometimes television, it, the eye tricks you.
14:49No, juicy is a Polly pocket size and she is a dancing diva.
14:54This girl, if you see her perform in Miami, she is splitting, twirling, whirling everywhere.

15:39Kenya was giving me all the feels because she was like, I'm here for all the kids that look
15:44like me growing up in the South.

15:46That, you know, get dragged to church.

15:49Dragged to these, you know, kind of conservative spaces when you really just want to be a drag queen.

15:54And I thought, I think she's one to watch.

15:57I think Kenya's strong.
15:58And I immediately was like, she's got Lizzo's mug.

16:02And then she said, I'm Barry White meets Lizzo.

16:24I feel like the producers had to pull some budget when they knew that Kenya was going to be on this, but I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous.

16:33I think that they looked so beautiful on, you know, her skin tone, this beautiful, like cocoa fabric.
16:38I mean, she just looked amazing and she has the personality.
16:42I think she was definitely the one out of all the meet the Queens that like we saw who Kenya is.
16:49Like Kenya is going to be the narrator of the season with that voice.

18:52But Mia, I think it's, it's, it's okay because she's been doing drag for 17 years.
18:57Granted, she's been on a 14 year hiatus, but she's been in it for a while.

19:06I mean, yes, we, we know Juicy can bring it, but Mia's like the on a resume dancer.

22:42You know, she knew that she was going to be the one who, you know, stood out in this silhouette.

22:48And the mug was Alyssa Edwards.

23:09So I think Nini will be someone to watch also.

23:16you know, still have some great personality.

23:30We've got her pre-professionals, uh, who love to do drag on the side.
23:35Uh, so excited for Nini.
23:37And then last but not least, we had Vita Von Teese star.

23:43Oh my goodness.
23:45This is a drag queen.

23:49She's a pageant girl.
23:50She holds titles.
23:52Um, I love this.
23:54She says, there isn't a big scene in Montgomery, Alabama.

24:04She clearly brought the entire bolt of fabric for her train on this look.

24:19And I love that.
24:20Like I said, we need more, we need more seasoned queens.
24:23We need girls, you know, who have been through the rough patches of drag, the pre social media drag.
24:30And I think that Vita is definitely that queen.
24:34I know a lot of the queens.
24:35I think one of them mentioned like, I kind of started doing drag during the pandemic on Instagram.
24:39Yeah.
24:40That's a different, there's a different journey than this one.

24:43Um, also the second star of the season.
24:45Uh, we had, you know, like I said, we had Mia star and Vita.
24:48I don't think they're related.
24:49They both spell it with two Rs.
24:51Uh, but I don't think Montgomery and West Palm Beach, Florida, uh, have that much of a crossover.

24:58Uh, but definitely, you know, we've got a couple, a couple, a couple stars, a couple Dion's.
25:04And I also love Vita kind of revealed that she was a former emo kid.

25:09And it does, you would never think that looking at this, you know, glamazon look.
25:13So those were our 14 queens.
25:16I kind of already said the ones that, you know, like I said, based on the looks of the Meet the Queens, my two favorites were Mikey and Nene.
25:25I think these looks were gorgeous.
25:27Um, I think they had a really clear perspective and I mean, they had personality.
25:33The girls were, you know, I really saw it in this and that's what Meet the Queens is all about.

25:40I've got my eyes and not, this is not just based on the looks, but I have my eyes, of course, on Didi Fuego, New York represent.

26:07Our first challenge, uh, for, you know, the premiere is going to be a design challenge.
26:12They're doing, uh, what they did in the UK where they're gonna have old materials from past drag race seasons.
26:18And the girls are gonna have to construct their own show-stopping looks.
26:22So these girls who were designing their own outfits and who are seamstresses might have an upper hand when we see them on January 2nd.
26:30So we're gonna have to stay tuned because season 18 is premiering January 2nd, 8 PM on MTV.
26:37RuPaul's Drag Race is old enough to vote.
