00:00I'm Coralia Saban. I'm 13 in 8th grade. I pitch for Hewlett Softball Varsity, and I have 200 plus strikeouts
00:06this year.
00:07Hopefully I get to above 600 by my senior year.
00:10I feel like my goals moving forward are obviously more strikeouts and to get on base more, steal more bases,
00:14and just be more aggressive as a player.
00:17Obviously get more velocity pitching-wise, learn other pitches, and I feel like just also mental training
00:23to be able to mentally prepare for these better teams and these higher conferences.
00:28What's it like when you strike out a really tough senior on a opposing team?
00:32It's a great feeling because I know that they're a good hitter and I know they're a good player,
00:35especially if they're committed to college for softball, and I feel like when I strike them out,
00:39it also gives me more confidence knowing I can strike out someone else on their team too.
00:43What's your batting average right now?
00:45Right now it's 473. They think that, oh, just because you're a pitcher you're not going to hit,
00:49or she's probably just a good pitcher she can't, and then I feel like they don't throw me as many
00:53movement pitches,
00:54and I feel like I get on base the first time, then they try to mix it up,
00:58and I still feel that I can hit the ball and I'm like, well.
01:01How many strikeouts did you have last year?
01:03125 last year.
01:04And how old were you then?
01:0512.
01:06How did that feel?
01:07That was, I feel like, a big accomplishment for me, especially as a 7th grader playing varsity,
01:12and I just knew I wanted to continue pitching for this team and continue getting strikeouts.
01:17So obviously they all have a lot of confidence in me.
01:20Like, my teammates, if they see I'm down, they always bring me up or my coach,
01:23and I feel like that's very helpful to me.
