00:00:00Ho, ho, ho. Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho.
00:00:04Santa Cated!
00:00:05You are not little petite Bobby anymore.
00:00:08No, I'm a big boy. You know what I want for this Christmas, Mikey?
00:00:11I want to have a great Wake Up Barstool Friday, okay?
00:00:15We got the team back. We got Dana, Megan, Mikey.
00:00:18We got Chris Felica stopping by.
00:00:20We also talked to Vandy, head coach Clark Lee,
00:00:22plus college football championship week and a Thursday night football recap.
00:00:26And it all starts now on FS1.
00:00:30Bang! What's happening, guys? Let's go!
00:00:55It's Friday and the boys are back in town.
00:00:58We got Michael Koenig, Dana Beers, Megan making money,
00:01:02as always, in the produce chair here on Friday.
00:01:05We got the money corner coming up.
00:01:07Didn't even get to that in the cold open.
00:01:08How's everyone doing today, guys? Are you feeling good?
00:01:10Good. So good. I'm so happy to be back.
00:01:13I missed, like, the last two weeks.
00:01:15Yeah. Yeah, it's been sad.
00:01:16I've missed the crew.
00:01:18It's always been great. It's always great.
00:01:19And Chief did a great job of filling in, but it's definitely nice
00:01:23when we have the full big boys crew here for the show.
00:01:28All right. So, obviously, massive weekend for you, Mikey.
00:01:31Yes.
00:01:32Championship week.
00:01:33Yes.
00:01:33Indiana.
00:01:33Yes.
00:01:34Ohio State.
00:01:34First time, I believe, we had number one and number two
00:01:37in the conference championships is 2006, guys.
00:01:40So, again, don't.
00:01:43I know we'll have the conversation about the stakes.
00:01:47Are there stakes? Are there not stakes?
00:01:49But don't take this thing for granted, okay?
00:01:51These are two undefeated superpowers,
00:01:53teams that statistically have been the best in all of college football
00:01:58throughout the entirety of the year,
00:02:00and now they're squaring up for a Big Ten championship.
00:02:04I guess we're here.
00:02:05I didn't mean to leave you this, but I guess we're here, Mikey.
00:02:07So, let's get an early temperature check
00:02:09before we go too in-depth in this game
00:02:11because we're going to go to the crawler corner,
00:02:12come to the next, break down some film on these two teams.
00:02:15But where's your head at?
00:02:17Well, those...
00:02:17Because, generally, I thought I was sensing nervousness recently,
00:02:20but I'm actually getting a little bit of confidence from you.
00:02:22No, I'm happy.
00:02:22I'm feeling confident from you.
00:02:23Like, those words that you just said to describe this game
00:02:26have never been said about Indiana.
00:02:28It's true.
00:02:28So, just that alone makes me happy.
00:02:32Okay.
00:02:32Because my whole career, I wanted to build to the point that we are now.
00:02:37Yeah.
00:02:37So, it's so happy to see all the boys playing so well.
00:02:42I mean, I'm just so excited to get down there.
00:02:44I'm leaving today.
00:02:45I'm going down to Indy, staying at a friend's house,
00:02:47and then hanging out with all the older boys that I came in with
00:02:50when I early enrolled.
00:02:52So, I'm really excited for that tomorrow.
00:02:55And, yeah.
00:02:55I'm so excited for you.
00:02:57I am, too.
00:02:58Okay, so we'll get into the game more in depth in a bit.
00:03:01But as we kind of alluded to, that was not, that is not an elimination game.
00:03:05What was an elimination game, for all intents and purposes, last night
00:03:09was Thursday night football.
00:03:11Yeah.
00:03:11Cowboys at Lions.
00:03:13And, unfortunately for them boys, it looks like another season that's going to end in disappointment.
00:03:20As the group that we have celebrated as being turned around post-Quinnon Williams,
00:03:25the Cowboys' defense lets them down when they needed it the most.
00:03:31But, look, every show is going to start with the Cowboys here, and we'll definitely get into them.
00:03:34But let's celebrate the Lions a little bit.
00:03:37They have not lost two games in a row in over three years.
00:03:42Incredible.
00:03:42Like, you want to talk about culture, stats, like a single thing you can point to to talk about the culture that you built,
00:03:49a winning culture.
00:03:50Shout out to Dan Campbell and the Lions for every single time they lose,
00:03:54finding a way to get off the mat, mitigate the damage, and come back with a big win the next week.
00:03:59Bounce back Kings.
00:04:00Kings.
00:04:01Kings.
00:04:01Never seen anything like it.
00:04:02We've kind of been waiting for them to turn the corner a little bit.
00:04:05I feel like last night might have been that game for them.
00:04:08I mean, it looked like they could do whatever they wanted on offense.
00:04:11Yeah.
00:04:12Granted, this Dallas defense isn't great.
00:04:15They've actually been really bad.
00:04:17But it's kind of like we've been just waiting for these Lions to show up.
00:04:20The offensive juggernaut that we've seen in years past,
00:04:24the team that last year felt like they could do whatever they want on offense,
00:04:27we saw it last night.
00:04:28And if you're a Lions fan, I think you've got to have a little bit of faith
00:04:31that this was kind of like that game that gives you the momentum to keep going,
00:04:36to keep going.
00:04:37They still are alive in the NFC North if they just keep winning.
00:04:40But, yeah, that's the game we've been waiting to see out of these Detroit Lions.
00:04:45The Lions are just so odd to me because you see a game like last night
00:04:48with J-Mo and Jameer Gibbs, and they look so dominant.
00:04:53Dave Montgomery getting involved as well.
00:04:55And you're like, oh, man, okay, okay, yeah, they're back.
00:04:57They're back, but they keep doing that this year where they have one of these
00:05:00and then they misstep.
00:05:01Be interested to see if they can keep going going forward.
00:05:04One thing that definitely stood out to me last night, as I said,
00:05:07a lot made of the Quinn and Williams addition to the Cowboys,
00:05:10that Lions offensive line was fantastic.
00:05:13Tate Ratlidge, the rookie on the right side, where in 69 continues to be a massive game changer.
00:05:21Yeah, coming out of UGA, mullet it up, where in 69 him and Panay Sewell are just a couple of monsters.
00:05:27I think that's a guy we could hang out with.
00:05:29Yeah, 100%.
00:05:30That's a guy we could hang out with.
00:05:31Easily.
00:05:32The weapons that this offense has is actually absurd.
00:05:34Yeah.
00:05:35I mean, you have probably one of the best backfields, not only running north and south,
00:05:41but out of the backfield catching passes.
00:05:43I mean, Jameer Gibbs is basically as much a receiver as running back.
00:05:47It's crazy how you can spread him out.
00:05:49The way that he can make people miss in the open field, out of the backfield,
00:05:52catching balls from Goff, it's incredible, dude.
00:05:55Look at that play.
00:05:56You want to talk about blocking.
00:05:57Gibbs didn't even have to run on that one.
00:05:59They do still need to win, I believe, three out of the last four to really solidify themselves in the playoffs.
00:06:05So it's not, like, they're definitely not set right now, but that game last night,
00:06:10that was pretty much a loser goes home.
00:06:12Well, you know, we were talking, and by the way, as far as, like, ESPNs,
00:06:16like, playoff percentages and whatnot, I believe the Cowboys are down, like, 6%, Lions at 54%.
00:06:22So, yeah, the Lions are coin flip right now, keeping their hopes alive.
00:06:25Cowboys basically X-nade.
00:06:26We were talking, though, before the show, and it's just crazy in the NFC right now, man.
00:06:33The playoff bar is so high.
00:06:35Like, look at the Bears.
00:06:37They're the one seed, right, at 9-3.
00:06:39They're playing the Packers, 8-3-1.
00:06:41I can't believe that.
00:06:42I can't believe that.
00:06:44If you lose, though, you could go all the way down to the 7th seed.
00:06:49Yep.
00:06:49Like, if the Bears lose and the Niners, Packers, Seahawks all win,
00:06:52you're suddenly going to find yourself from 1-7.
00:06:55How are those two teams in the hunt?
00:06:55How?
00:06:56They're not.
00:06:57We talked about this on yesterday's show.
00:06:58We are officially, for all intents and purposes, on Wake Up Barstool,
00:07:01canceling the Falcons and Vikings.
00:07:03Come on.
00:07:04Get them out of here.
00:07:04They are not.
00:07:06Cowboys are out, too, now.
00:07:08The Panthers barely hanging on.
00:07:10Shout out to Carolina Panthers.
00:07:11Yeah, I know.
00:07:12They're fucked.
00:07:12Every week.
00:07:12Like, that is incredible.
00:07:14I keep looking at their records.
00:07:16How many wins did they have last year?
00:07:16They're 7-6.
00:07:17I don't even know.
00:07:18Two?
00:07:19But I keep looking at them every week, and I say,
00:07:21how do they have that many wins?
00:07:22And it keeps going up.
00:07:23That's honestly incredible.
00:07:24Wait, so, um, yeah, wait, can I do this?
00:07:27Let me see something real quick.
00:07:28iPad boy.
00:07:29We're doing a live?
00:07:31Well, I've screwed this all up.
00:07:33The timing is terrible.
00:07:34We're iPad guys.
00:07:34This is all I was going to do.
00:07:35I broke my iPad.
00:07:36Yeah, sorry about it, cowgirls, later.
00:07:41Wait, you.
00:07:41Oh.
00:07:42Yeah, it's cracked.
00:07:43I sat on it.
00:07:44You just sat on it?
00:07:47I sat on it.
00:07:48That's a promo for the...
00:07:49Was it on a cushion?
00:07:51It was on the couch, and I sat on it by accident.
00:07:53It's broken.
00:07:53I mean, yeah, you can kind of see.
00:07:55That's a promo for the Big Boys Club, if I've ever heard one.
00:07:57Yeah.
00:07:58Yeah, by the way, Big Boys Club, we're going to be releasing episodes Wednesdays at 9 a.m.
00:08:02now, so be on the lookout for that.
00:08:03Yeah, you know, I've been eating a lot lately.
00:08:07I have too, dude.
00:08:08Same.
00:08:08Getting fat.
00:08:09I've been in the...
00:08:10You need to lock in.
00:08:10For a couple weeks, I was doing like, okay, I'm going to eat healthy.
00:08:13No, it's nothing until New Year.
00:08:15So, I keep telling myself I need to lock in as well, but I'm wondering.
00:08:20It's very cold outside.
00:08:22It's the Christmas season.
00:08:23You're hibernating?
00:08:24Maybe we don't lock in for a little bit.
00:08:25You're hibernating.
00:08:25Yeah.
00:08:25I had a stuffed pepper last night.
00:08:27Ever heard of that?
00:08:28No, huh?
00:08:28Oh, it's a big stuffed bell pepper with like brown beans.
00:08:31Some beef and rice in it?
00:08:33Yeah.
00:08:33Sounds fantastic.
00:08:34Then you put cheese and like tomato sauce.
00:08:36I had two, actually.
00:08:37I don't know why I said one.
00:08:38I had two.
00:08:38Yeah, my mom sat me down and said I need to make some lifestyle changes.
00:08:42So...
00:08:42You didn't need to solve me in the salad.
00:08:45Can you tell us the story?
00:08:46How did this go down?
00:08:47Well, I got home from Thanksgiving...
00:08:48Or I got home for Thanksgiving break, and my mom, she's like, honey...
00:08:54I'm like, Michael, I think you need to start maybe taking more care of yourself.
00:08:59I'm like, Mom, like, I know.
00:09:02Like, I understand.
00:09:03Like, this job is hard to lose later.
00:09:05This job is tough when there's just food everywhere.
00:09:08And I'm a snacker, man.
00:09:11She's like, yeah, Michael, like, seriously.
00:09:14I love your impression of your mom.
00:09:15Mom, thank you.
00:09:16You think she's watching right now?
00:09:17Yes, 100%.
00:09:18Love you, Mom.
00:09:18I got a question.
00:09:19We love you so much.
00:09:20Can we pull up the Lions schedule remaining?
00:09:22Yeah, let's pull up the Lions schedule.
00:09:24I want to see who they got.
00:09:25I believe they're playing...
00:09:26And then we'll get to some Cowboys, guys.
00:09:27Don't worry, audience.
00:09:28I know you love your Cowboys.
00:09:31Cowgirls.
00:09:31Okay.
00:09:32Rams, Steelers, Vikings, Bears.
00:09:33That's not the easiest schedule.
00:09:35No.
00:09:36But they can probably take that game against the Vikings.
00:09:39And then, I don't know, maybe that last Week 18 game is, like, one of those high stakes.
00:09:48That would be awesome.
00:09:49It could absolutely be a winning game.
00:09:50I feel like the Lions always play their best ball, like, at the end.
00:09:53Like, Dan Campbell is, like, the fourth quarter mindset.
00:09:56Wait, but I agree.
00:09:58And that's the culture and everything.
00:09:59But I do love what you're setting up here, Dana.
00:10:01A potential Lions-Bears winner gets in.
00:10:06Lions being viewed as dome merchants, right?
00:10:08They can't play outside.
00:10:09All of a sudden, they could be in Chicago, in the snow, for the final game.
00:10:14Playoffs on the line.
00:10:15Ben Johnson looking for revenge.
00:10:17How fun would that be?
00:10:19After the Lions dominated them earlier this year.
00:10:22Man.
00:10:22All right.
00:10:23All right.
00:10:23Let's not get too ahead of ourselves.
00:10:25So, the Dallas Cowgirls, we probably won't talk about them that much going forward, given
00:10:29that they are now eliminated.
00:10:30So, it's probably time to have those conversations now.
00:10:32They couldn't protect Dak last night.
00:10:33Shout out to Al-Kadeem Muhammad.
00:10:34He comes up with a career-high three sacks.
00:10:36He's actually sacked Dak five times in total.
00:10:40CD ends up getting concussed.
00:10:42Have you all seen the drama with George Pickens?
00:10:44Yeah.
00:10:45A little bit.
00:10:45Yeah.
00:10:46A lot of people saying that George Pickens, by the end of the game especially, was uninterested.
00:10:51Yeah.
00:10:51Did not care.
00:10:51He sure looked like it.
00:10:53Yeah.
00:10:53I mean, like, I don't know if that's, like, a hot take, but it seemed like he was completely
00:10:58out.
00:10:59There was a play at the end of the game that...
00:11:02You can't watch...
00:11:03It was pretty much...
00:11:04That's not as bad.
00:11:04But, yeah, we got the play at the end of the game coming up.
00:11:06Oh, yeah.
00:11:07It was a deep ball, and it kind of just looked like he gave up on it a little bit.
00:11:09Yeah.
00:11:10This right here.
00:11:10So, I mean, I think he's just one of those receivers that if he's not having a good game,
00:11:14he checks out.
00:11:15Yeah.
00:11:15And that kind of seems like what was going on here last night.
00:11:19I think that, and this is where you maybe see the cultures diverge a little bit in some
00:11:27ways.
00:11:27We talk about how resilient the Lions can be.
00:11:30When the Cowboys had some momentum, right, because they were down 27-9, they have some
00:11:34momentum, they're coming back, they get the big touchdown, they get the two-point conversion,
00:11:37all of a sudden it's 30-27.
00:11:40What happens next?
00:11:41The Lions march down the field with absolutely no resistance.
00:11:44They go back up by 10, and to me it just felt like Dallas' spirit was broken after
00:11:48that.
00:11:48I think that's when Pickens checked out.
00:11:50I think it's one of those things that it's so hard mid-game to get on your boy for that,
00:11:56because obviously the receivers are very emotional when they're playing, and you can't really
00:12:02get in their head.
00:12:04And if you try to correct them, or you try to be a leader and get after their butt a little
00:12:10bit, they just fully give up.
00:12:14It's horrible.
00:12:16Production wants to know, is it just receivers in your view, or any player?
00:12:19No, it's any player, but you can't.
00:12:21But receivers are more dramatic, to be fair.
00:12:23Yes, but unless it's my boys, like the O-line that I'm a leader of, I'm not going to step
00:12:27out of my way to...
00:12:29Because that's on their...
00:12:30The quarterback, only the quarterback or a coach can do that.
00:12:33Yeah, exactly.
00:12:34Me and Kadek have talked before about when kickers miss kicks, and sometimes you'll see
00:12:40the offensive lineman, like give him a pat on the helmet.
00:12:42Yeah.
00:12:43I love...
00:12:43Anytime I see a miss now, Kadek, it's like...
00:12:46Never.
00:12:46Never.
00:12:48Miss or make, I never...
00:12:49He's mad.
00:12:50I got one job.
00:12:51You got one job.
00:12:52P.A.T. and T-Bob, I think you know this, like P.A.T. and field goal is one of the worst
00:12:57plays ever.
00:12:58Oh, it sucks, dude.
00:12:58You're just getting...
00:12:59Your face ran over.
00:13:01You're just a sacrifice.
00:13:02And then they want us to go give a little nudge to the kicker?
00:13:05No, I'm heading off and getting water.
00:13:08Just make the kick, dude.
00:13:09Yeah.
00:13:09Make the kick.
00:13:10I was always blessed, though.
00:13:11I always...
00:13:12I actually lived with kickers, and showed up my guys, Crutch, Josh Jasper, and they were
00:13:16always really good.
00:13:17So we never...
00:13:18I never had any, like, bad kicker moments.
00:13:19Were you on P.A.T. field goal?
00:13:21Yeah, oh yeah.
00:13:21I was in the position specifically where you just got run over.
00:13:25Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:13:25And, like, if you got run over, it wasn't bad.
00:13:27You just had to get away.
00:13:28Were you the Iron Cross?
00:13:28Were you...
00:13:29Step in in the post-down and then come back and get the...
00:13:33Yeah, so you're the...
00:13:33Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:13:34Yeah, the fattened calf.
00:13:35Yeah, we called it the Iron Cross.
00:13:37The Iron Cross.
00:13:38That's a way more badass name.
00:13:40Yeah, yes, exactly.
00:13:43All right, anything else on that game last night?
00:13:46I think we pretty much covered it all.
00:13:48Sorry, Dallas.
00:13:50Sorry, Dallas.
00:13:50Your toughness failed you when you needed it the most.
00:13:53Let's do this.
00:13:54Let's go ahead and go to break.
00:13:58And then when we get back, we'll dive more into Ohio State.
00:14:02Yes!
00:14:03Indiana.
00:14:03We're going to the crawler corner.
00:14:05We still got to preview all of Championship Week in the college football slate coming up.
00:14:10We got Felica.
00:14:11We got Clark Lee.
00:14:12We got a ton.
00:14:12We got the money corner.
00:14:13We got Dana teaching ball.
00:14:15So don't go anywhere.
00:14:16It's all going to be this morning on Wake Up Boston.
00:14:20Welcome back to Week Up Fest here on FS1.
00:14:26T-Bob, Meg, Dana, Mikey, hanging out with you today.
00:14:30Hey, hey.
00:14:31Here we go.
00:14:33To Cabo.
00:14:33Turn on to the left.
00:14:34I get it.
00:14:36This is Dax.
00:14:36How's that?
00:14:36Here we go.
00:14:37That good?
00:14:38Yeah.
00:14:38No?
00:14:39And y'all's ass is going to Cabo, cowgirls.
00:14:42Sorry about it.
00:14:43It was a fun few weeks, though.
00:14:43You really hate the Cowboys.
00:14:45It was the only team that I was raised to hate in my household.
00:14:47Okay.
00:14:48My father had no real animus for any other NFL team, but he loathes the Dallas Cowgirls.
00:14:56That's how Notre Dame was in my house.
00:14:58You say animus?
00:14:59Yes.
00:15:00Dude, that's the whole thing with Zach Martin, who played at Notre Dame and the Cowboys.
00:15:05Everyone, he just played for the two most hated fans.
00:15:08Yeah.
00:15:08Oh, yeah.
00:15:09Absolutely.
00:15:09Easily.
00:15:09Let's go back to animus.
00:15:11Wait.
00:15:11Say that again?
00:15:12Animus.
00:15:12He has no real animus for any other NFL team.
00:15:16That's a word that has never crossed my desk once.
00:15:20It doesn't need to be said.
00:15:21You know who you're sitting with.
00:15:23Does it mean hostility?
00:15:24Yes.
00:15:24Yes.
00:15:25No, look.
00:15:25I said have no vocabulary whatsoever.
00:15:29Animus.
00:15:29Look at you, Dana.
00:15:30What did you just say?
00:15:31Hostility.
00:15:32Animus.
00:15:33Hostility or ill feeling.
00:15:35Okay.
00:15:35There you go, dude.
00:15:36Why don't you say it?
00:15:37Did you read dictionaries or something?
00:15:40No.
00:15:41I don't know.
00:15:42I've read a lot.
00:15:42I just like reading a lot.
00:15:44But I think you can read anything.
00:15:45You don't have to read, like, I think even if you're reading comic books, it's good.
00:15:50I'm not saying it's a bad thing.
00:15:53It's just we can't let animus go by.
00:15:57Yeah.
00:15:58Why?
00:15:59It's a bit that we do in the big boy and sit here and act.
00:16:01You just know who you're sitting with.
00:16:02Me and you can't sit here and act like we know what he was saying when he said animus.
00:16:06Honestly, I was already.
00:16:07You did, though, no.
00:16:07You did.
00:16:07You did.
00:16:08But I don't want to sit here and act like I've heard that word.
00:16:10Yeah, like, I was already thinking about what I'm going to say next, so that kind of went
00:16:13in one ear out the other.
00:16:14Look, guys, his name is T-Bob.
00:16:16He's from Louisiana.
00:16:17He's got to come off as well-read.
00:16:19He can't just come off as an ass.
00:16:20Yeah, I'm fighting stereotypes here, then.
00:16:22Let's see the guy from Waterboy.
00:16:23Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:16:24Bobby Boucher.
00:16:25Look, we understand you a lot better.
00:16:27It is.
00:16:27Animus?
00:16:28Guys, this is an entire bit that we do in the big boys club.
00:16:31We have a vocab.
00:16:32Which comes out Wednesdays now, 9 a.m. Central.
00:16:34So.
00:16:35Take a look on YouTube.
00:16:36Subscribe on YouTube.
00:16:37I did, though.
00:16:39I did.
00:16:40When we started doing SAT vocab prep, I just, like, genuinely enjoyed it.
00:16:45Yeah.
00:16:45I genuinely love it.
00:16:46Words are cool.
00:16:47I learned to love the feel of good words.
00:16:49Big words are cool.
00:16:50I just don't have that in my repertoire.
00:16:52Huh?
00:16:52Repertory.
00:16:53Look at you.
00:16:54Look at that.
00:16:54All right.
00:16:55Let's get into the other thing I have in my bag besides words is college football.
00:17:00Yeah.
00:17:00It's all I really care about.
00:17:01Absolutely.
00:17:02And so, let's talk coaches, because we promised you all season long this was going to be the
00:17:07most insane coaching carousel that we've ever seen.
00:17:10It is not disappointed, right?
00:17:12Too many jobs held firm last season, meaning the forest was ripe for a burning.
00:17:18The latest, well, the team that's kind of taking center stage right now is Penn State.
00:17:21We'll get to all the hires in a second, but Penn State, man, what an absurd season this
00:17:28has been.
00:17:28Horrible offseason for the boys.
00:17:29National championship favorites coming into the year.
00:17:33Wow.
00:17:33Immediate and brutal disappointment losing to Oregon in the wideout game, but it's so good.
00:17:39It makes me so happy.
00:17:40Then the spiral happens.
00:17:42Then they fire James Franklin.
00:17:44A bit of a controversial firing in many ways, but everybody's saying, okay, well, they're first
00:17:48to the party, though.
00:17:49You know, in a day and age where a lot of teams are going to be looking for a head coach,
00:17:54Penn State's there first, so they have a head starter in everybody.
00:17:57Well, why in the hell, then, is Penn State the only team still without a coach?
00:18:01Honestly, that's on the athletic department.
00:18:03That is on the AD.
00:18:05Yeah.
00:18:06He has to be working day and night, especially a program like that.
00:18:10Like, Penn State really doesn't have many other good sports.
00:18:13Like, you've got to focus on everything on football, and him just not having any urgency
00:18:18to get a coach is mind-boggling.
00:18:20And now it appears like Matt Campbell of Iowa State has entered as the kind of latest target.
00:18:27And this is no disrespect to Campbell, because I think Campbell's a very good coach, and I've
00:18:30doubted Campbell in the past, and he comes back, and he proves me wrong every few years.
00:18:34Like, he is really, really solid.
00:18:36But unfortunately for Penn State fans, whoever they hire is going to be deemed unsatisfactory.
00:18:43Yeah.
00:18:43Like, the idea of winning the narrative or winning the press conference, that went out the window
00:18:47a long time ago, does not matter who they hire now.
00:18:51Maybe if you could, like, back into, like, a Kalen DeBoer.
00:18:54That would be your golden ticket, kind of Hail Mary.
00:18:59You know, maybe they get, like, dominated by Georgia or something.
00:19:03Playoff committee decides they keep him out.
00:19:05No, I know, I know.
00:19:06I'm just saying that's the only thing I could think of that would make fans happy.
00:19:09What's going to be crazy is if Matt Campbell, is it your turn on the town bicycle?
00:19:15You get a ride, too?
00:19:15They're going to get you paid, as well?
00:19:18I mean, they got Kalani Satake paid.
00:19:19They got Matt Rule paid.
00:19:21It just feels like people are just using and abusing this poor Penn State program.
00:19:26Oh, and they had three signees in their signing class.
00:19:31If you were to give a top three candidate list for Penn State right now.
00:19:36Doesn't matter.
00:19:36In terms of realistic, like, an actual coach that could end up there.
00:19:41I mean, dude, honestly.
00:19:42Harry Smith?
00:19:43Megan, who do you think?
00:19:45There's somebody that we've talked about a lot.
00:19:47I'm not saying, nope, I'm not saying any names.
00:19:50Brian Kelly?
00:19:51Right?
00:19:52Why wouldn't you hire Brian Kelly?
00:19:53I don't think he deserves a job.
00:19:55The fact that, I will say this.
00:19:58The fact that Brian Kelly to Penn State is not being talked about more, I think tells
00:20:03us that it's not just fans viewing him as losing his fastball, but maybe the football intelligentsia
00:20:10as well.
00:20:11You got to free his boy, you know?
00:20:13Free the boy.
00:20:13Wait, wait, wait, wait.
00:20:15Free the boy.
00:20:16All right, all right.
00:20:16What's that one?
00:20:17All right, all right.
00:20:17Say it one more time.
00:20:18It doesn't matter.
00:20:19Intelligent.
00:20:20All right.
00:20:20Throw a name out there?
00:20:21Can I throw a name out there?
00:20:22Yeah, yeah.
00:20:22Throw a name out there.
00:20:23Jeff Brom.
00:20:24Sure.
00:20:25But see, this is kind of my point.
00:20:26Matt Campbell, Jeff Brom, it's all the same guy, which is fine.
00:20:31It's not bad.
00:20:32They're good coaches.
00:20:32Do Penn State fans have any type of just, I don't know what the word is, but any hope
00:20:41here of landing somebody that will truly be a difference player?
00:20:45No.
00:20:45That's what I'm saying.
00:20:46Well, okay, to be clear, I think hiring is, we all love to say lines like, hire the
00:20:54best guy, do this or that, like, uh, hello, it's not that easy, right?
00:20:59Draft the best quarterback.
00:21:00Okay.
00:21:01Teams commit millions and millions of dollars into figuring out who the best quarterback
00:21:04is, only for one guy to boom, one guy to bust.
00:21:07Like, we don't know.
00:21:08We don't know.
00:21:08So, Campbell could go there, and maybe he gets him across the finish line.
00:21:11Right.
00:21:12Maybe Brom does, but they're not going to be able to hire anyone, I don't think, that
00:21:17will make people excited from the jump.
00:21:19Like, that coach is going to be starting behind the narrative, and he's going to have to win
00:21:22the fan zone.
00:21:23They've got to find, like, a Sean McVay.
00:21:25Just a young...
00:21:26Yeah, the Vunderkin.
00:21:27A guy...
00:21:27I have a question.
00:21:28Yes.
00:21:28An upcomer.
00:21:29So, obviously, like, I'm not super locked into Penn State football.
00:21:33Yeah.
00:21:33Why would I be?
00:21:35Why is it not a wanted job?
00:21:38Like, why are they just kind of sitting there, like...
00:21:41I kind of maybe go back to a bit of what Kadic said.
00:21:47I put this on the administration in a lot of ways.
00:21:52Well, they were ranked number one coming in.
00:21:54Like, obviously, it is a good job in terms.
00:21:57Like, so it's like, why has no one kind of drifted towards...
00:22:01It didn't seem like they had much of a plan post-Franklin.
00:22:05Like, what was their plan?
00:22:06Matt Rule?
00:22:07Like, honestly, Penn State should have had a mega package, like, lined up for maybe,
00:22:13like, a Lincoln Riley if they wanted something like that.
00:22:15Or Kalen DeBoer.
00:22:16Like, they just...
00:22:18They...
00:22:19I guess just with all the jobs available, that seems like one of the, like, you know,
00:22:24higher jobs, higher-end jobs.
00:22:26Like, one of...
00:22:27Like, a big coach would want to go there.
00:22:29No, you're right.
00:22:29It is a high-end job, but it's also a high-pressure job.
00:22:34Like, it's...
00:22:35The fan base is such a culty fan base that if you don't get 10 wins, they will hate you.
00:22:41Yeah.
00:22:41Like, they will hate you.
00:22:42And, like, so a lot of coaches don't want to put their neck on the line to get eight,
00:22:46nine wins, and then you're still not good enough.
00:22:49Right.
00:22:49Again, I think, too, so many of these coaches' hires come from the administration making
00:22:55the coach feel comfortable in their vision and their belief.
00:22:58Right now, Penn State feels like an administration that is chaotic.
00:23:02Right.
00:23:02And all over the place, and discombobulated, and so guys are just using them for more money.
00:23:07There was a team in the bayou that seemed like that just a month back.
00:23:10Look where we're at now.
00:23:11I mean, look, LSU appeared to be a massive dumpster fire, but for better or worse,
00:23:20when the governor starts to take the lead and then, like, everybody below him was put
00:23:25in place by that guy, if nothing else, you have a coherent vision, right?
00:23:30Like, it's the old saying, I'd rather have 11 guys doing the same wrong thing than 10
00:23:37guys doing the right thing and one guy doing the wrong thing.
00:23:39Like, do the wrong thing on the same page, at least.
00:23:41Yeah.
00:23:42All right.
00:23:43Let's get...
00:23:43Okay, so, sorry.
00:23:44We ended up going way too long on Penn State.
00:23:46We'll still get our championship games, get other coaches, but for now, it's time for
00:23:49our favorite Friday game, guys.
00:23:51It's time for a little smash or pass.
00:23:53Let's go.
00:23:54Come on, baby.
00:23:54And I believe this is maybe holiday adjacent edition, but maybe I'm wrong there.
00:23:59Ooh.
00:24:01Oh, smash.
00:24:02Smash.
00:24:02Ziki.
00:24:03Smash.
00:24:04Absolute double smash.
00:24:05It's so good.
00:24:06Here's some...
00:24:07I will have it, but I don't love it.
00:24:11You know, it's not sawed out.
00:24:13I love it.
00:24:14If it's there and it's...
00:24:17But that's not a smash.
00:24:18That's not a smash, though.
00:24:18It's part of the dish, and it's...
00:24:20Maybe I'll dip a pita in there, but I don't love it.
00:24:24Is it cucumber-based?
00:24:25It kind of tastes like cucumber.
00:24:26Yeah, it's cucumber, dill, yogurt.
00:24:28Oh, it's so good.
00:24:29It's fantastic.
00:24:30Cucumber doesn't have the best...
00:24:31Well, olive oil...
00:24:31I won't have a gyro without tzatziki.
00:24:34Agree.
00:24:35You have to have a little bit of, like, lube to get the food down your throat.
00:24:38I love...
00:24:39Yeah.
00:24:40Wait, what?
00:24:41You're coming at me.
00:24:42Did you see her?
00:24:42No.
00:24:43You've got to have food lube to, like, get it down your throat.
00:24:45Like mayonnaise.
00:24:47Like condiments.
00:24:48Condiments are food lube.
00:24:49See, guys, that's why we're going to get the ratings on Friday.
00:24:52That's what I'm talking about, man.
00:24:54Good point.
00:24:54There's going to be some sick guys out there.
00:24:57Don't be sick.
00:24:57It's just...
00:24:58It is what it is.
00:24:59Yeah, it's just food lube.
00:25:00Get it down your throat.
00:25:01Get down my throat.
00:25:02God.
00:25:03Oh, my God.
00:25:04Yeah, I love Greek food.
00:25:05All right, spam.
00:25:06I'll pass.
00:25:07This is on my list of things to try.
00:25:09Smash.
00:25:10Try it.
00:25:10Never had it.
00:25:11I will smash.
00:25:12Just put that in the pan.
00:25:13What exactly is it?
00:25:14It's like bologna.
00:25:15I think so.
00:25:16I just don't like the smell of it.
00:25:18I think it's in the same vein as, like, potted meat.
00:25:22Yeah.
00:25:23Which was, like, old school.
00:25:24Just, like, all the leftover pieces just kind of scrap.
00:25:27Yeah, like, I don't think, you know.
00:25:29And it's traditionally, like, a cheaper food.
00:25:31Like, when I was growing up, spam was, like, a pop culture joke.
00:25:35Like, with fruitcake and everything else.
00:25:36Like, nobody likes it.
00:25:37But my grandpa used to make a fire-ass spam.
00:25:40My dad loved it.
00:25:41It's so much.
00:25:42Yeah, I like it.
00:25:42It's very popular in, like, Japanese culture.
00:25:44Yeah.
00:25:44And Hawaii.
00:25:45Hawaii's bad.
00:25:46They do spam, right?
00:25:47And sushi.
00:25:48So, yeah, I'm a smash spam guy.
00:25:50I'm a smash.
00:25:50Never had it, but I'm sure I'd smash.
00:25:52I'll pass on it.
00:25:53All right.
00:25:53What's next?
00:25:54What do we got?
00:25:55Gingerbread.
00:25:56Smash.
00:25:57I'm going to say pass.
00:25:58Really?
00:25:58Smash.
00:25:59I don't really like ginger, like, flavor.
00:26:01It's okay.
00:26:01They're okay, yeah.
00:26:02It's okay.
00:26:03But, like, the problem with gingerbread is not that it's not impressive.
00:26:07They're like a really good team that just has a couple of superpowers in the conference
00:26:12that are just much better.
00:26:14Yeah.
00:26:14Yeah.
00:26:14Like a chocolate chip cookie.
00:26:16Yeah.
00:26:16Traditional Christmas sugar cookie.
00:26:18It's not gingerbread's fault.
00:26:19If you put out ten different cookies, you're not going to reach for dinner.
00:26:21No.
00:26:22I also, I feel bad eating that little guy.
00:26:24He looks so cute.
00:26:25I don't.
00:26:26I'm going for the head first.
00:26:28All right.
00:26:29What do we got next?
00:26:32Baked brie.
00:26:33Oh, yes.
00:26:33Smash.
00:26:34I love cheese.
00:26:34Could I smash it?
00:26:35Any heart?
00:26:35Oh, God.
00:26:37Oh, Dana, you would love a baked brie.
00:26:39Some bacon and some, like, maple jelly.
00:26:42It's like a very creamy cheese.
00:26:43Wait, you're telling me.
00:26:45It's hard, and the inside's very creamy.
00:26:47You know what I've been doing lately?
00:26:48What is it, K-Dick?
00:26:49Creamy.
00:26:49Creamy.
00:26:50Just the nachos that you make at home, and you just dump cheese on top.
00:26:54Yeah.
00:26:54Microwave nachos.
00:26:55I've been doing that a lot lately.
00:26:56Microwave nachos?
00:26:57Yeah, man.
00:26:57Sometimes it's just needed.
00:26:59Sometimes it's just needed.
00:27:00It's lazy.
00:27:01It tastes great.
00:27:02But, no, I mean, given that your first viral moment on WUB was your soliloquy about cheese.
00:27:09Never had brie.
00:27:10Stumbling into an FC cheese violation.
00:27:13You need to have some bacon.
00:27:15You guys should see the bag of cheese I have in my fridge.
00:27:18Just a massive bag?
00:27:18It's bigger than my torso.
00:27:20Every time I reach in to grab a pinch of cheese out of the bag, I think about you.
00:27:25Yeah, you too.
00:27:26I took a nap on the couch yesterday, and I woke up, and the whole bag of cheese was eaten by my kids.
00:27:32All three of them just went to town.
00:27:34They're like that.
00:27:34We've got to stop talking about cheese, because I'm going to swear again.
00:27:37Bro, you need some baked brie.
00:27:38All right, what's next?
00:27:41Smash during the holiday season.
00:27:43Can I say I don't...
00:27:44Once, one, maybe two.
00:27:46One, maybe two.
00:27:47Maybe I've had this, like, once in my life.
00:27:48You toss a little liquor in there.
00:27:51Exactly.
00:27:52Woo!
00:27:52Yeah.
00:27:53Okay, I'll try.
00:27:53Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
00:27:54Like, it's a great way, if you're having some drinks, it's a great starter drink.
00:27:58Something maybe a little tasty, a little holiday.
00:28:00Can't have more than...
00:28:00Can't have more than...
00:28:01Apple cider.
00:28:02No, can't have more than...
00:28:02It was just never in my family's, like, fridge drink.
00:28:06Cannot have more than two.
00:28:07Wait, Meg, what?
00:28:08I like, like, an apple cider with a little spike, or, like, a hot chocolate with, like,
00:28:13the peppermint schnapps in it.
00:28:15That was, like, the first drink my parents gave me for, like, before I could actually...
00:28:19I've never had alcohol with hot chocolate, and I've never really had much apple cider,
00:28:24actually.
00:28:25Wait, have you never had, like, a mudslide?
00:28:27What's a mudslide?
00:28:28Oh, sounds hot.
00:28:29It's like a chocolate, like, daiquiri, like, rum, it's got a bunch of chocolate in it.
00:28:33No, I don't know.
00:28:33It's like a chocolate milkshake just powdered with liquor.
00:28:36Oh, okay.
00:28:37Yeah, I mean, that sounds great.
00:28:38Do you ever used to do that thing when you would sit down and someone would pour, like,
00:28:43a shot in your mouth and then pour a chocolate sauce?
00:28:46Like an upside-down...
00:28:47Oh, no.
00:28:47They call it a haircut, right?
00:28:48Yeah.
00:28:48The haircut?
00:28:49That's a fun one.
00:28:50I'll do that with you this Christmas.
00:28:51All right, please.
00:28:51We used to call it an upside-down margarita, where you would pour the mix and the tequila just
00:28:55straight in the mouth like that.
00:28:57Smash or pass?
00:28:58Fruitcake.
00:28:59Never had it.
00:29:00Never had it.
00:29:00I'm gonna pass.
00:29:02I'm gonna say pass as well.
00:29:03I don't think I've ever had it.
00:29:04Does it taste like fruit?
00:29:05I don't know.
00:29:06Maybe we need a day to try.
00:29:07It does taste like fruit.
00:29:08Pass.
00:29:09It always tries.
00:29:10It tastes like K-Dick.
00:29:12All right.
00:29:13Come on, Max.
00:29:14Let's close out.
00:29:15Hour number one.
00:29:16We still got the money corner.
00:29:18We're closing out.
00:29:18We got Chris Felica coming up, as well as Clark Lee.
00:29:21Don't go anywhere.
00:29:22Wake up Barstool.
00:29:24Happy Friday, guys.
00:29:26Happy Friday, guys.
00:29:26Woo!
00:29:34Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:29:36It's time.
00:29:37We do it every Friday into hour number one.
00:29:39Our girl, Megan, making money in the money corner.
00:29:42Meg, what's it, guys, girl?
00:29:43It rip, it rip, it rip, it rip, it rip, it rip.
00:29:44Ooh, I like that.
00:29:45You like that graphic?
00:29:47It's nice.
00:29:47It's good to be back, everyone.
00:29:49Happy championship weekend.
00:29:51First on the docket, we have Tulane, North Texas.
00:29:55I kind of wanted to take Tulane here.
00:29:57Obviously, if they win this game, they are the representative of the group of five.
00:30:02However, North Texas is a tough team, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to bet on
00:30:06Brett Slough, which is Tulane's quarterback.
00:30:08He's great through the air, but better through the ground.
00:30:10He is leading this team in rushing yards and has 14 touchdowns.
00:30:15We're going to take him over 34 rushing yards in that game.
00:30:19Let's go.
00:30:20Shout out.
00:30:20Oy vey.
00:30:21Yes, sir.
00:30:22Up next, I'm going to go with Boise.
00:30:24They have a very potent attack with a running game that's one of the best in the country,
00:30:27and they're almost as good through the air as they are on the ground.
00:30:31UNLV has won one of the worst run defenses in the country, and their secondary really isn't
00:30:36much better.
00:30:37Though they've won four straight, we're still going to stick with Boise here, minus the
00:30:40four and a half.
00:30:41There's a name.
00:30:42Dan Mullen.
00:30:44UNLV's offense is awesome.
00:30:45True.
00:30:46If I was Penn State, I'd be kicking those tires.
00:30:48All right, go ahead.
00:30:49Up next, thick line delay.
00:30:51Texas Tech minus 12 and a half.
00:30:53Obviously, these teams saw each other back November 8th, and Texas Tech scored in every
00:30:58single quarter.
00:30:59Final score is 29-7.
00:31:01I understand this is a Big 12 championship.
00:31:03BYU should probably put up more points, but with that balanced offense between Morton
00:31:08and Dickey, in addition to the defense that rakes third just behind Ohio State and the
00:31:15Hoosias, I love this spread.
00:31:19And not to mention Jerry World, going to be packed with a bunch of Red Raider fans.
00:31:23I know.
00:31:24It's like, I love BYU, and I actually think BYU should be ahead.
00:31:27A lot of the big names that are ahead of them.
00:31:28But damn, they shut down L.J. Martin first time around and did the Red Raiders.
00:31:33I'm actually going to be there.
00:31:34Are you really?
00:31:35I'm going to be there, yeah.
00:31:36Oh, nice.
00:31:36Randomly.
00:31:37Very random.
00:31:37Sick.
00:31:38You and Big F's going as well.
00:31:39Yeah, I'll be there.
00:31:40Hell yeah, dude.
00:31:41Very excited to see that game.
00:31:43Last two picks.
00:31:44I'll be quick.
00:31:45In Georgia-Bama, we're going to go with the under 47 and a half.
00:31:49Okay.
00:31:49I think these are...
00:31:50Interesting.
00:31:51Yeah, I think it's going to be a lot of maintaining clock, trying to eat the ground.
00:31:55You don't want to put the ball in either one of those quarterbacks' hands.
00:31:58So, I think it's going to be a conservative game.
00:32:00I think it's going to be awesome, but conservative.
00:32:03Under 47 and a half.
00:32:04And last up, we're going to go with the...
00:32:08Who, who, who?
00:32:09Who's this?
00:32:10I'm just saying that I like Mendoza better than Julian saying.
00:32:15Why is that?
00:32:16I, you know, just...
00:32:18You may or may not be your cousin.
00:32:19Maybe.
00:32:20I don't know.
00:32:20I understand Ohio State.
00:32:22Is there bias involved here?
00:32:23Look, Ohio State has the pedigree.
00:32:26And I understand.
00:32:27We really haven't talked a lot about them because they've been leaps and bounds better than the entire field.
00:32:31But one thing...
00:32:32Well, two things that you can't teach is heart and mommy and this Indiana team.
00:32:38Yeah, go ahead now.
00:32:39They get punched in the mouth and come back swinging.
00:32:41We're going to take the Hoosiers plus the four.
00:32:44We're going to hope that they win outright.
00:32:46And one last time.
00:32:47Who, who, who?
00:32:48Hoosiers!
00:32:49Let's go!
00:32:50I mean, real talk.
00:32:51Ohio State hasn't been punched in the mouth yet.
00:32:53No.
00:32:53So we go see Chris Felica, the bear, coming up next.
00:33:07Welcome back, guys.
00:33:09This is Wake Up Barstool on FS1.
00:33:11We hope you're having a great Friday.
00:33:13And right now, we love doing this every Friday.
00:33:15Our best friend of the show, it's Chris Felica, the bear.
00:33:20Joining us live from Indy, massive Big Ten Championship, coming up tomorrow.
00:33:25Really excited to watch him on Big Noon.
00:33:28Bear, what's happening, man?
00:33:29How are we doing this Friday?
00:33:30We're doing great.
00:33:31Always good to start the weekend amongst friends here.
00:33:34Yeah.
00:33:34And loved.
00:33:35So, yeah, the feeling is mutual.
00:33:37What's going on?
00:33:38Okay, so before we get into the games themselves, a lot of coaching hires going down, unless you're Penn State.
00:33:43Then you're just involved in just a quagmire of disaster.
00:33:48Two thoughts from you.
00:33:51Two thoughts from you.
00:33:52Quagmire of disaster.
00:33:53How do you feel about the Lane Kiffin hire?
00:33:57Was that a home run?
00:33:58And if it is, is there another home run in this coaching cycle for you?
00:34:03Oh, it's absolutely a home run hire.
00:34:05I mean, you can see already with the recruiting and the direction that the program – and look, this is about to get real for LSU in terms of – we thought the IL budget and the recruiting and the talent level was there already.
00:34:20It's about to go up another level.
00:34:21And I know it's talking to Mark Ingram in Alabama.
00:34:23I mean, he's quite concerned about what's about to go on in Baton Rouge.
00:34:27Yeah.
00:34:28Oh, I love that bear.
00:34:29Whether that translates to a national title, we'll see.
00:34:34But, yeah, it's a home run hire.
00:34:36I mean, Lane is a lightning rod for the sport.
00:34:38I love Lane.
00:34:39Of course, it was going to end ugly when you're dealing with two rivals like that, but it's a great hire for LSU.
00:34:46And I am happy that Lane and Ole Miss both kind of came to their senses a little bit in letting Charlie Weiss Jr.
00:34:54Yes.
00:34:54Go to the playoff.
00:34:55It's the best result for both schools.
00:34:58The other home run?
00:34:59Yeah.
00:35:00I would say James Franklin is a home run for Virginia Tech.
00:35:04Very true.
00:35:05You've already seen Virginia Tech basically get Penn State's entire recruiting class, and he's getting four and five stars in there that Virginia Tech certainly wouldn't have had access to with Brent Prye and whoever else, Justin Fuente and that.
00:35:20So we'll see what happens on the field.
00:35:22We made the argument when Penn State fired him about, okay, there are probably 120 schools out there that would love to be in the situation that Penn State's been in with James Franklin, winning 10 or 11 games a year, going 10-2, 11-2 or whatever, and being in the college football playoff mix and competing for titles and finishing in the top 10 every year.
00:35:41And that wasn't good enough for Penn State.
00:35:43They moved on, and we've seen that coaching vacancy.
00:35:47While it was one of the first ones open, it is one of the last ones open, too.
00:35:51Yeah, I mean, first to the party, can't find anybody to dance with, though.
00:35:55Sad, sad state of affairs.
00:35:57All right, getting into some championship games this week, and let's start with where Big Noon's going to be, the Big Ten championship.
00:36:02First time since 06, this old Florida-Alabama battles bear that we have a 1v2 in the conference championship.
00:36:10And it's an odd game because the playoff stakes are not that high.
00:36:16And I think that's causing people to maybe papoo it a bit, but again, you're talking about two 12-0 teams that have clearly been the most dominant in the entire country.
00:36:26How excited are you?
00:36:27Where's your head at?
00:36:28Do the stakes take away from you at all here in tomorrow's game?
00:36:31No, not at all because I'm really curious from both ends.
00:36:35I mean, of the spectrum here, it's the biggest game in Indiana history.
00:36:39When is Indiana again going to have, and they'll probably tell you we're going to expect to do this every year, but it's not going to happen,
00:36:46to be 13-0, win the Big Ten title, and be the number one team in the country going into the college football playoff?
00:36:52It's a massive opportunity for the Hoosiers.
00:36:55And at the same time, you have to wonder a little bit where Ohio State is on the mental aspect and how much they have left in the tank for this one
00:37:05because it's a terrible sandwich spot for them.
00:37:09You put everything and invest everything in beating Michigan and ending that losing streak, and you do that last week.
00:37:15Now you know you're going to the playoff, and you're going to have a first-round bye regardless of what happens tomorrow here in Indy to defend your national title.
00:37:26And I know Ohio State hasn't won a Big Ten title in quite some time, but it's clear the game, I would think, means a little bit more,
00:37:33and Indiana will be a little bit ramped up.
00:37:35But I still can't.
00:37:37I'm sorry, Megan.
00:37:38I can't do it.
00:37:40I'm on the other side here with Ohio State.
00:37:41I just think they are better.
00:37:43And in some of these big games that Indiana has had this year, they have really had a lot of trouble running the ball.
00:37:50And against that Ohio State defense, which is great up front, haven't allowed more than 16 points in a game all year,
00:37:56I do think Ohio State does win the game by a round of touchdown.
00:38:01So like you said, my keys for Indiana to win is obviously to establish a run.
00:38:06And like you said, it's going to be hard to do that against the Ohio State front.
00:38:10What are some other keys to victory you see on both sides, Indiana and Ohio State, just to kind of give them the nudge?
00:38:18Well, it'll be interesting to see how Mendoza plays.
00:38:21I mean, you look at the Iowa game, you look at the Penn State game.
00:38:25Even last week, they blew him out.
00:38:27He hasn't necessarily been fantastic.
00:38:29He had the signature moment against Penn State with that drive, which was fantastic, obviously.
00:38:35And then after throwing the pick six against Oregon, he came back and led them right back down the field.
00:38:40So I think his play, obviously, is key.
00:38:45And then on the other side, with Ohio State, can they continue the elevation of their running game?
00:38:50We had a lot of questions about their running game entering last week.
00:38:55And then they went ahead and did it.
00:38:56I heard you guys talking about the game and break, about them really not being punched in the mouth this season.
00:39:02And I think they were a little bit.
00:39:04Last week, there was a little bit of like, oh, no, not again.
00:39:08When Michigan got up, 6-0 in the game.
00:39:11But it felt like once Ohio State kind of normalized and balanced out and got that first touchdown, they were good.
00:39:18So I think they're confident.
00:39:20I think, Mike, I like to think, like, what is different about last year's Indiana-Ohio State game and this year's Indiana-Ohio State game?
00:39:29You know, I think Mendoza's better than Rourke, but I think Ohio State, with the level that Smith and Tate are playing, I think it's ultimately going to be too much.
00:39:38Probably another difference is that the center will actually be able to hear the snap count this year.
00:39:42So, yeah, I was going to say, like, the O-line for sure has got to play better than last year.
00:39:47They can't have, like, a special teams debacle.
00:39:49And then, Bear, the one statistical difference I could find, Indiana plus 17 in the turnover department, Ohio State plus 5.
00:39:57And if you're going to affect an upset, obviously turnover is kind of key.
00:40:01So we'll see.
00:40:02All right, let's go to the SEC championship.
00:40:04Imagine this, Bear.
00:40:06It's Alabama and Georgia.
00:40:08Wow, a little figure.
00:40:09What have we seen that before?
00:40:11The more things change, the more they remain the same.
00:40:15It's a credit to both these programs once you get back in this spot.
00:40:18Now, we have the source, Stu Feiner, on every Wednesday.
00:40:22And I don't know if this has changed in the interim intervening 48 hours, but Stu told us that the Sharps were hammering Alabama here early on in terms of the –
00:40:34even though the public is all betting Georgia, the total number bets, the money is all on Bama.
00:40:40What's the read on this one?
00:40:41That doesn't surprise me.
00:40:43I mean, the numbers with Kirby Smart, rather, against Alabama, what is it, 1-7, and DeBoer has won a couple of meetings.
00:40:50And that tracks with what we've seen in these conference championship games.
00:40:56If you go back in conference title game history, favorites of three points or fewer are 14-24 outright.
00:41:04So, typically, these underdogs, oh, well, they just got to win by a field goal in order for us to cover.
00:41:09They typically not only don't cover, they typically lose the game outright.
00:41:12You look last year, you had a couple of games.
00:41:15Texas was a 2.5-point favorite against Georgia.
00:41:17They lost.
00:41:18SMU was a 0.5-favorite against Clemson.
00:41:20They lost.
00:41:21Iowa State was a 0.5-favorite against Arizona State.
00:41:24Lost.
00:41:25Louisville, short-favorite against a short-handed Florida State team.
00:41:28Lost in 2023.
00:41:29So, typically, you see minus 2.5, and you kind of get attracted to laying it.
00:41:35Kind of counterintuitive.
00:41:36You might want to take it.
00:41:37So, yeah, I think Bama is super alive here to win this game.
00:41:42I like the first half under as the bet here.
00:41:46I found under 24.5 on FanDuel as a bet yesterday, a little extra juice.
00:41:51But you look at the second half of that first meeting between the Hedges there and Athens,
00:41:56Georgia really figured Alabama's offense out, completely shut them down.
00:42:01Georgia's defense has gotten better throughout the year.
00:42:04Ty Simpson, his level has dropped dramatically, as has the Alabama offense.
00:42:09Put up Ryan Williams' face on the side of a milk carton with how he's been absent essentially all year.
00:42:16And then last week, look at Georgia's offense when Drew Bubba went out the center.
00:42:20Yeah.
00:42:21Didn't do it.
00:42:21Hell, barely had 250 yards in that game against a Georgia Tech defense.
00:42:25It couldn't stop anybody leading up to that.
00:42:28So, I think they're going to have trouble blocking Tim Keenan.
00:42:30I think it's a first half, a little bit of a feeling out period where both teams really don't want to make a mistake.
00:42:37So, under 24.5 was the play that I had in this game.
00:42:40I love that play.
00:42:41I'm glad you mentioned Drew Bubba.
00:42:42Bear, can you confirm or deny something that I heard many, many years ago, and I've just parroted it as truth,
00:42:48is that nothing makes a line move, like, you know, outside a quarterback, like the starting center being out?
00:42:55Have you ever heard that?
00:42:57Is that true?
00:42:58I haven't, but it should be true.
00:43:00I mean, the center is responsible, obviously, for the snap and the protection coverage, right,
00:43:06and signaling down the line.
00:43:08Like, that tracks with me.
00:43:10What, is this a shot at me or something?
00:43:12I don't know.
00:43:13No, I don't know why they just showed you.
00:43:15All right, Danny, go ahead.
00:43:16Is the production truck a shot at you?
00:43:17I think they were.
00:43:19Hey, you're looking at someone that was quite the quality center in high school and never played it down at college.
00:43:25You want quality center play, then you're talking to the right guy here.
00:43:30So, the Big 12 championship down in Dallas this weekend, BYU-Texas Tech, this number 12 and a half, seems a little big.
00:43:38It seems a little scary to me.
00:43:40I'll be in the house.
00:43:41I'm just going to be rooting for points.
00:43:43Tell me if I'm crazy for that.
00:43:44I know the last time it was kind of just a blowout.
00:43:47It should have been a bigger win by Texas Tech the last time these two played.
00:43:52What are your thoughts on this Big 12 championship with the points and that big number you see?
00:43:57I would lay it.
00:43:58I have no problem laying it.
00:44:00I don't know what changes from a BYU point of view from game one in the regular season to this one,
00:44:07especially if Chase Roberts, their best wide receiver, doesn't play or isn't healthy.
00:44:11Remember, he got hurt a couple weeks back against UC, didn't play last week against UCF.
00:44:17I'm assuming they held him out in hopes that he was able to play.
00:44:20But without him, I just don't know how they're able to move the ball on a tech front.
00:44:26That's really, really good.
00:44:27And you alluded to it.
00:44:28It was 29-7 that first meeting.
00:44:30But it could have been much, much worse.
00:44:33I think they had six drives inside the 30 and like three very short field goals.
00:44:37So we were looking at 41-42-7 or so in actuality.
00:44:43I just don't look.
00:44:44I love that Kalani Satake is staying with BYU.
00:44:46And I think maybe you're seeing a little bit of a public bump here.
00:44:50The motivation factor of BYU win or pull the upset or you stay close.
00:44:55And maybe they're in that mix to get an at-large into the college football playoff.
00:44:59But I just can't see this.
00:45:01If you go back, I mean, double-digit favorites in Power 5 Conference Championship games, they've lost 26 straight times.
00:45:08You've got to go back to the Florida State-Virginia Tech game in 2005 to find the last double-digit favorite that won.
00:45:16Tech has been a money-making machine this year.
00:45:18What, 11-1 against the number?
00:45:19So, yeah, I'm on the Red Raiders here.
00:45:22I can't really see an avenue to have this game be close.
00:45:25Yeah, it's so crazy.
00:45:26First game, too, they kind of beat BYU at their own game.
00:45:29Like, they didn't run it super efficiently, but they ran it 40-plus times, 160 yards.
00:45:35I think L.J. Martin was like 20-something carries for six-something yards.
00:45:38Just a rough go.
00:45:39Bear, before we get into some playoff talk, real quick, what is your favorite playoff championship weekend?
00:45:45I think it is the first-half play.
00:45:50Okay, yeah, it's a great play.
00:45:51It's a derivative market.
00:45:53I mean, it's those things, well, do you want to segue into the playoff discussion?
00:45:58Yeah.
00:45:59Because my favorite, favorite, favorite play of the weekend is just Miami to make the playoff.
00:46:05I think you can get right around plus 430, somewhere around there it's down to right now.
00:46:09But it is my belief that when BYU loses, if BYU loses, you're going to have Notre Dame and Miami right next to each other on that board in the committee room.
00:46:19And all the ex-coaches and the administrators that are in there are ultimately going to say, okay, at this point, it's too hard to overlook.
00:46:26They won the head-to-head battle.
00:46:29Every other metric, they're incredibly close.
00:46:34Every time in college football playoff ranking history, you've had two teams with identical records and Team A beat Team B.
00:46:42Team A was ranked ahead of Team B in the final college football playoff stand game.
00:46:46Right now, Miami and Notre Dame, it's the exception.
00:46:50And I don't know if the committee wants to go down that road of having a team that lost the head-to-head battle be ranked ahead of the other one.
00:46:59No, it's crazy.
00:47:00Notre Dame's case is based on we have quality losses, and one of those quality losses was the head-to-head game against Miami, and we're better now.
00:47:11Okay, well, Miami's better now, too.
00:47:14In that game, Miami had eight new defensive starters.
00:47:17It was Corey Heatherman's first game as defensive coordinator.
00:47:20Malachi Tony played his first college game, and now he has emerged as one of the best all-around weapons in college football.
00:47:26And Gerard Pringle, their running back, who is now their go-to guy in that field, he didn't play it down in the game.
00:47:32So Miami's playing better now, too.
00:47:34The committee said they wanted to see more balance and consistency out of Miami.
00:47:39And I would say balance and consistency in blowing out their last four opponents, and certainly in a better fashion than Notre Dame did against NC State and Pitt.
00:47:48I think they answered those questions.
00:47:50So I hope I'm right.
00:47:51I expect to be right.
00:47:52And so you can get a nice plus price on Miami right now.
00:47:55People have been saying, well, Notre Dame's such a big favorite to get in.
00:48:00And think back a couple of years ago, and I know this as a fact because I bet it and remember the lines.
00:48:06Like Sunday morning in 2023, Florida State was a massive favorite to make the college football playoff.
00:48:13And those who could kind of see the forest through the trees and the people pounding the table that if you're taking Texas, you've got to take Alabama.
00:48:22Or I've taken Alabama, who's the SEC champ.
00:48:24You've got to take Texas, who beat them head-to-head.
00:48:26And Florida State doesn't have Jordan Travis, and they're not the same team.
00:48:30The committee had it out.
00:48:31And I think the same thing here with the committee and having the head-to-head out will ultimately be the strongest difference maker there.
00:48:39And I think ultimately it will flip come Sunday.
00:48:42You sold me, Bear.
00:48:43I'm going to put in a big boy.
00:48:44I'm getting my nut back, boys.
00:48:46Let's go.
00:48:46It's been a bad few months, but Bear's about to bring me back to life.
00:48:51Bear, thank you so much, man.
00:48:53Kick ass on tomorrow's call.
00:48:55Thank you for joining us, as always.
00:48:56You know we love you.
00:48:57And the fact that you make time for us every Friday here on Wake Up Barstool means everything.
00:49:01My pleasure.
00:49:01So have a great day.
00:49:02I love doing this.
00:49:03Yeah, hell yeah.
00:49:04Let's go, Bear.
00:49:04Happy holidays.
00:49:05Walking ball.
00:49:06Hell yeah.
00:49:07We love you, man.
00:49:08We love you.
00:49:09All right, Bear, take it easy, brother.
00:49:10Have a good one.
00:49:11Coming up next, speaking of playoffs, let's talk to a potential playoff head coach as
00:49:17Vanderbilt's Clark Lee will join the show.
00:49:19And it's all on Wake Up Barstool next on FS1.
00:49:29Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool on FS1.
00:49:31Look, I say it every day, but it's because we have an incredible production team, incredible
00:49:36guest bookers.
00:49:36We get to talk to coaches and players that I'd never get to talk to in the past.
00:49:41And right now, add them to the list.
00:49:43I'm so excited to talk to Vanderbilt head coach, Clark Lee.
00:49:46Coach Lee, what's going on, babe?
00:49:48How are we doing today?
00:49:49I'm good, man.
00:49:50I'm better because I'm with you guys.
00:49:51Hell yeah.
00:49:52Hell yeah.
00:49:52So I want to talk to you about something that goes back a few years when you got the Vanderbilt
00:49:59job.
00:49:59And then we'll get into all the recent drama and how y'all are getting screwed over and
00:50:02it pisses me off and everything like that.
00:50:04But when you got this job, you made headlines when you talked about, no, like I, you know,
00:50:10we're going to make this place into a national championship contender.
00:50:14And, and, and all of us, I was doing local Baton Rouge radio at the time.
00:50:18You know, we all sit around, we kind of smirk.
00:50:20We're like, look, we love Clark, you know, fullback.
00:50:21He's like, he's got the right energy, but like, that's never going to happen.
00:50:25And well, joke's on me because here you sit 10 and two as good as anybody in the country,
00:50:30what I believe should be the Heisman favorite under center coach.
00:50:34How, um, I guess, what has that journey been like?
00:50:38Did you really believe it?
00:50:40Did you really believe it when you said it and now you've made it happen?
00:50:45I did.
00:50:46I mean, I, I wouldn't say it unless I believed it.
00:50:48And, and I, you know, I, I think to be fair to everyone who, who judged me in that moment,
00:50:53which, you know, that's part of it too.
00:50:54Like I'm not a whole lot different than my quarterback.
00:50:57There's a huge chip on the shoulder.
00:50:58And the more people that doubt you kind of the, the hotter the fire burns to, to prove
00:51:03them all wrong.
00:51:03And so, um, at the time I said it, I knew we were going to do it.
00:51:07I just, I don't know that I actually understood what the path through was going to be.
00:51:11It took, it took some time to understand a little more about the, the, you know, what
00:51:15the journey was going to actually entail and where we needed to pivot and grow and where
00:51:20I needed to change and understand a little more about what my role is and how to do it
00:51:23effectively, but, you know, smart people figure things out.
00:51:27And I just, we kept at it.
00:51:28We believe in the bones of this place, man.
00:51:30This is a top 20 school in Nashville, Tennessee playing in the sec.
00:51:34And for the first time in the program's history, I've got a chancellor and athletic director
00:51:39that are so aligned in the vision that I have for this program success.
00:51:43And when, when the people above you are clear in the path for, for you to achieve and accomplish,
00:51:49it's going to help and it's going to allow for it to go eventually.
00:51:52And so that's, that's what's happened here.
00:51:54And again, it's not without change and growth and, and, you know, me evolving and us pivoting,
00:52:00but, um, it feels really good to be at this point.
00:52:03Well, and, and all of a sudden coach it's, it's now, now certainly anytime you transition
00:52:08from a quarterback, that's always going to be a, um, you know, that's, that's a, that's
00:52:12a big test.
00:52:13It's kind of a big moment.
00:52:14And how do you handle that?
00:52:15But you can see now the plan in place.
00:52:19They're like, Oh wait, no Vanderbilt can't sustain this.
00:52:22And one of the reasons why is in this new era, I don't know if it's combined with the
00:52:26city of Nashville exploding, maybe the cool factor of Pavia.
00:52:30I mean, you just flipped the number one quarterback in the entire country.
00:52:34Uh, it, it, it seems as if, cause you said the alignment, the investment celebrities
00:52:40on the sideline, like y'all can, y'all have completely changed, uh, how the, how the country
00:52:46views the brand of Vanderbilt football.
00:52:48You know, it feels like it happened overnight.
00:52:50And the truth is this has been a slugfest over five years, I think.
00:52:55And that that's, that's typically how these things go, right.
00:52:57Is, is what, what you see on the surface happens really quickly, but what happened under
00:53:02the earth took a lot of time, you know, without,
00:53:04without Diego Pavia, I don't think we move as fast as we've moved this past season.
00:53:08You know, this was a two year journey here for him.
00:53:10He's left an incredible, uh, legacy in this program.
00:53:14He'll leave one when, when he, you know, takes the final snap and, um, and, and that's been
00:53:19helpful.
00:53:19I think too, you know, we, we, in this city, which is such a great sports city, you know,
00:53:24we're, we're kind of ascending where our pro sports teams have, have been a little
00:53:28middling.
00:53:29And so, um, Diego has become probably the most popular sports figure in our city.
00:53:34Um, and, and that has shown the potential here.
00:53:37It's really, it's kind of revealed what this can be for players that want to play on, um,
00:53:42kind of professional stages with the kind of attention you get when you're playing for
00:53:47the Titans or you're playing for the Packers or whatever the case may be.
00:53:50So he, he's, he's kind of revealed what this looks like, um, at the highest of levels.
00:53:54And it's been fun to get the Nashville community, which has got a lot of talented artists and
00:54:00a lot of talented people here.
00:54:02It's been fun to get them engaged with it too.
00:54:04And like you said, I mean, this is the part where we have to fight for sustainability and
00:54:09it's not success is never linear.
00:54:12So this isn't about, you know, something that's going to be easy from, from this season to next
00:54:17season, but we feel like we have the ingredients on this roster.
00:54:20If we retain the right people, if we can grow it again in this recruiting class, which we
00:54:24have and in the portal, a hall, which will happen in January that, you know, this is something
00:54:29where we can, um, pick up where, you know, team five, uh, leaves off and, and keep this
00:54:35thing rolling, pull the momentum forward.
00:54:36Yeah.
00:54:37And it's, it's, it's crazy to me coach that you sit here and, and I always think back,
00:54:42maybe this was like Oh three that are the year when Auburn went like 13 and Oh, and
00:54:47the SC didn't get a chance to play for national championship this year's Vanderbilt team feels
00:54:52the most like that in terms of, I just took it as an understood self-evident truth that
00:55:00if you would go 10 and two in the sec, you would make a 12 team playoff.
00:55:04Y'all had four ranked wins during the season.
00:55:07Y'all finished the season on an absolute tear.
00:55:10What an exclamation mark dominating Tennessee in Knoxville in front of that crowd.
00:55:16And yet it just doesn't seem like the committee has a lot of respect for the resume.
00:55:22I hate that.
00:55:22We don't let the actual football decide.
00:55:24We talked to coach Sataki about this as well.
00:55:27Um, where, where do y'all find, what is the committee telling you?
00:55:30Like where, where, where is the problem with what Vanderbilt's done this year?
00:55:34Well, you, you hear the same messages I hear, which is just, it seems like every week the
00:55:38goalpost moves and, and the, uh, process changes, you know, look, I obviously what, what we are
00:55:45living through right now is the evolution of a flawed system.
00:55:49And we're on the wrong side of that.
00:55:51And I'm frustrated by it.
00:55:53And I'm going to turn my attention to help change it and progress it as we go into the
00:55:58off season.
00:55:59Like you said, I mean, this was kind of my, my thought in, in general is a 10 and two sec
00:56:04team should be in the playoff.
00:56:07And if you look at what we've done, we're undefeated at home.
00:56:10Yep.
00:56:10Our two road losses come at Alabama, at Texas, both games that we were in, in the fourth quarter
00:56:16in different ways.
00:56:17But, um, it's also about a team that's evolved through the year too.
00:56:20Like I'd love to play those games again, you know, because we changed and evolved.
00:56:24We pivoted this season and, and it showed up late after that Texas game, we erased a deficit
00:56:30against Auburn.
00:56:32We win that game, uh, in overtime by close margin.
00:56:35And then we just, we locked three phases into place and closed our home schedule out with
00:56:39two dominant performances, one on the road against rival Tennessee.
00:56:42And, you know, you can, I mean, it's just, what game do you want to play here?
00:56:46It's like, how did Texas perform against Kentucky versus how we performed against Kentucky?
00:56:50How did Oklahoma perform against Tennessee versus how we perform against Tennessee?
00:56:54But if you want to discount the teams that we beat, because every time we beat them,
00:56:58you move them out of the top 25, then you're going to make it impossible for us to get in.
00:57:03So, uh, ultimately this team deserves to be in it.
00:57:07This team deserves a chance to win a national championship.
00:57:09I will tell you college football deserves to see Diego Pavia and this offense on the biggest
00:57:15stage under the brightest of lights.
00:57:17And it is a shame that we have a system that's going to reward, um, automatic bids to conference
00:57:24champions who have no business other than the system allowing for it, um, to, to be in this,
00:57:31in this playoff.
00:57:32And again, that is not to be disrespectful to anyone, but at the end of the day, how can you
00:57:37look at a 10 and two SEC team and take a 10 and two team from a group of five league and say
00:57:43that we're comparing apples to apples?
00:57:45It just, it doesn't make any sense.
00:57:47There's nothing I can do about that.
00:57:49I'm frustrated with the committee because they had opportunities to fight for this program.
00:57:53And I believe that if it were blind resumes, and I also believe if we didn't have this week
00:57:58to week release of the, the, the top CFP top 25, if we just did it all at the end and say,
00:58:05Hey, let's get in a room and figure this out.
00:58:06I think we'd have a way better chance, but the blind resume part of it has got to be factored in
00:58:12because again, because of our logo, we're somehow discounted.
00:58:17We're somehow held back when we win a game, somehow the team that was favored in the game,
00:58:22we were the underdog, they were favored.
00:58:24Somehow they drop out of the top 25.
00:58:26It's just, it's, it's not right.
00:58:28It'll get fixed.
00:58:29But, you know, obviously I'm really frustrated about it as I sit here this season.
00:58:33Coach, you're wearing the hat right now, the Heisman hat.
00:58:36Obviously Diego Pavia has just been one of those players that has resonated with the entire
00:58:42country.
00:58:43He's one of those players like Johnny football that will be remembered for more than just
00:58:47football.
00:58:48He's just one of the guys that has changed the culture for your team.
00:58:51And just from a staff perspective has been awesome, has played a tough schedule and has
00:58:57just, you know, really, really shown that he can be a serious Heisman contender.
00:59:01Why don't you give your case for why, uh, why he should be the winner at the end of the
00:59:05day?
00:59:05Well, he, he's the best, you know, he's the best player in the country.
00:59:10There's no doubt about that.
00:59:11I've been joking.
00:59:12It's like, um, you know, we need some extra cargo space on the trip up to New York.
00:59:17Cause I got a thousand extra yards that I'm toting up there.
00:59:20Do we want to go by ground or do we want to go by air?
00:59:23Cause he's the best in both.
00:59:24You know, it's like, um, I just, I don't know how you can look at it.
00:59:28I mean, if you talk about how he's impacted a winning program, you know, a 10 and two
00:59:33program first 10, one season in program history on the back of his effort as he's galvanized
00:59:39an offense.
00:59:39Now, look, he'll be the first to tell you that this is a team effort.
00:59:42He'll be the first to tell you about his offensive line and his offensive skill.
00:59:46And that also is what makes him, uh, the Heisman winner.
00:59:49He is so humble in his process.
00:59:51He's grateful for the people around him.
00:59:53He is a great teammate and he's made our team better.
00:59:56And so if this is go, if this award goes to the best, um, football player in the country,
01:00:01football player in the country, it is Diego Pavia.
01:00:05And there is no argument.
01:00:06There is no case otherwise that I can listen to because I've watched this guy transform
01:00:12a locker room, transform a, uh, you know, player driven leadership here, transform our
01:00:17performance on the field.
01:00:18And on top of that, statistically, he has all the numbers that you need.
01:00:24He, he is at the top of the list in all those categories.
01:00:27And so which way do you want to look at it?
01:00:29Is it, is it again, as a competitor and the mindset and the toughness and how he's impacted
01:00:34the team?
01:00:34He has it.
01:00:35Is it the numbers passing, rushing touchdowns accounted for?
01:00:38He has it.
01:00:39And so to me, it's not close.
01:00:41And I hope everyone who's, who loves this game and has paid attention, um, recognizes this
01:00:47and honors him with this award.
01:00:48Yeah, I mean, I'm, I, I completely agree.
01:00:50I've been saying it for weeks now.
01:00:52Pavia is the Heisman choice.
01:00:53I don't know what will end up happening, but he's the best player, uh, coach.
01:00:58So I hope that because it's so ridiculous that in college football, second biggest sport
01:01:02in America, that we just inject all this subjectivity into it.
01:01:06Right.
01:01:07And I know Pavia from talking to him the other day.
01:01:09I know from some news that we're going to do with y'all recently, like that man would
01:01:13play anybody anywhere.
01:01:15Where he's down, like, let's just settle it on the field and maybe one day we can get
01:01:19that where like this same weekend, three and six and four and five in the conference would
01:01:24be playing for a spots and the buys matter.
01:01:27Uh, but there were rumors recently that y'all were seeking out a 13th game to, to kind of
01:01:33make a statement here.
01:01:35Uh, can you, can you give us any insight into that?
01:01:39Well, it's true.
01:01:40I mean, I, and I told the players on Tuesday when we met, I just said, you know, have, have
01:01:44your bags packed and be ready.
01:01:46And this could, this call could come at any point in time.
01:01:49And I've said publicly, I mean, anybody that they want us to play and we'll, we'll go
01:01:52there.
01:01:53We'll go to Utah.
01:01:54We'll go to Miami.
01:01:55We'll go to Notre Dame.
01:01:56Um, cause we, we believe in our team, you know, and, and again, if, if it gives us an
01:02:02opportunity to fight for the, I mean, just here's the thing.
01:02:06Every team in the country wants to win the national championship.
01:02:09That's what we set the course to do.
01:02:11January 7th, 2025, we got together for the first time as a team and said, this is our
01:02:16goal.
01:02:17And now we sit here having done the things that we felt like we needed to do to position
01:02:22ourselves, to have a chance to fight for it.
01:02:25And, um, you know, we're being held off by, by subjectivity and moving goalposts with respect
01:02:31to what, what hurdles need to be cleared for an SEC team to get into the tournament.
01:02:34So, um, to me, if you gave me a chance to play, I'm going to go play.
01:02:40I bet on my team.
01:02:41I believe in this group.
01:02:42I want to give them every opportunity.
01:02:44And the cool thing has been, you know, that, that could certainly be a coach's mindset, but
01:02:50this is our chancellor's mindset.
01:02:51This is our athletic director's mindset.
01:02:54And look, we, we've, we've done all we could to find, you know, what is the location allows
01:03:00us to get a 13th game exempt and all those things and gone through the logistics of it.
01:03:05It's not going to happen, but it's not because we haven't tried to make it happen.
01:03:09And that's just because we believe in who we are and we believe in what we can do.
01:03:13And, um, man, there's nothing that excites me more as a competitor than putting the ball
01:03:18down and playing the game.
01:03:20And I swear to you, like, how cool would it be to fly two teams to Puerto Rico, put the
01:03:26ball down and whatever.
01:03:27Like that, that to me is what it's all about.
01:03:32And, and, you know, my hope and the effort I'll put into this all season, there's so
01:03:36many competing interests here in terms of, you know, how do we determine the schedule?
01:03:44How do we determine the playoff format?
01:03:46You know, what we have to do is get rid of these systems that, um, that somehow provide
01:03:51safety or, you know, guarantees.
01:03:54He's it's like, no, there should be the 12 or 16 most deserving teams in the playoff.
01:04:00That should not be subjective.
01:04:02We have to develop systems and engage systems that make it very objective.
01:04:06Yep.
01:04:07And, and, um, I'm excited to be a part of those conversations this off season.
01:04:11I hate that it's come at the expense of this team because this team deserves the chance to
01:04:16play for a national title.
01:04:17But, um, but we have to move this thing forward so that a year from now, hopefully, or two
01:04:22years from now, this weekend, we'll be putting the ball down.
01:04:26Now, maybe, maybe it doesn't have to be in parking lots, you know, um, or back alleys.
01:04:31We can do it in stadiums that are full and, and in front of fans that care a lot about,
01:04:35um, you know, their teams.
01:04:37But I, that, that's the goal.
01:04:38And man, when we get to that point, I think there'll be nothing better for the sport.
01:04:42Uh, real quick here, coach, just cause we've kept you long and I can't thank you enough
01:04:45for the insight, how open you've been with all this.
01:04:47Uh, would you say that the game not being played was more of a logistical hurdle or more
01:04:53of a, not finding a willing partner?
01:04:56Well, I, I want to be respectful because, you know, there are teams that obviously aren't
01:05:01on the outside looking in right now that, that have, have a chance for dominoes to fall
01:05:06that would have more at stake in that game or more to lose, I guess, you know, we, we
01:05:10have everything to gain.
01:05:11And so, um, to be respectful of that, the logistics are challenging, you know, it's, it's, it's
01:05:16way, it's very easy.
01:05:19Look, I'm a football coach, so I can find a plane, I can find a field and I'll have my
01:05:24team there ready to go.
01:05:25Um, you know, but obviously there, there, there are tons of layers to that with respect to,
01:05:30um, conference, you know, approval and, and NCAA approval and, and, and to, to, you know,
01:05:37to try to change a system in, in the week that you're trying to play is just, it, you
01:05:42know, that's a, that's a high bar to try to clear.
01:05:45So look, I don't, you know, I'm not offended by the fact that it, you know, we couldn't
01:05:49get it done.
01:05:50I, what I love is from top down, again, from our, our chancellor's been working on this,
01:05:55our athletic director has been working on this.
01:05:56So sometimes as a coach, man, you come in and it's like, I want to do it.
01:06:00And, and, you know, you may want to do it, but you're, you know, Hey, wait a second,
01:06:04pump the brakes.
01:06:05I'll walk in, uh, to my office the other day and out in the, in the little lobby there.
01:06:11Um, I've got our director of compliance sitting in there working.
01:06:14This is on Tuesday, you know, working on a plan to get us to a game in Puerto Rico.
01:06:20What an unbelievable statement that is about the attitude of this department, the attitude
01:06:25of this program, the attitude of this university.
01:06:28We want to be disruptors.
01:06:29And when has Vanderbilt become the young, hungry, scrappy, punchy place?
01:06:34Well, that's what we are, man.
01:06:35And I love that.
01:06:36We'll take that wherever they tell us to go.
01:06:38Um, I'll hold out hope for the playoff, but you know, if it's not to be, then we're going
01:06:42to go put our best game on film, uh, in whatever bowl game they send us to.
01:06:46Uh, Vanderbilt head coach, Clark Lee, uh, the absolute fire me up, fire me up.
01:06:51Fullback attitude never dies.
01:06:53Even if the position has died in some ways.
01:06:55I'm sorry, coach.
01:06:56That's right.
01:06:58Uh, for the benefit of the game too, by the way.
01:07:02Coach Lee, uh, cannot thank you enough, man.
01:07:04Best of luck with everything.
01:07:05Hopefully Diego gets to lift that trophy and, uh, thank you again.
01:07:09Hey, appreciate you guys.
01:07:10Y'all be well.
01:07:11Yes, sir.
01:07:11Vanderbilt head coach, Clark Lee.
01:07:13God, what a guy.
01:07:14Just put the freaking ball down, dude.
01:07:17Spot the ball, man.
01:07:17Spot the ball.
01:07:19Spot the ball, you nerds.
01:07:21That was a pretty respectful way of handling it, basically saying that, no, these other
01:07:24teams didn't want to do it.
01:07:26But I think, I get it.
01:07:27I get it.
01:07:28Uh, all right.
01:07:28When we get back, Dana's going to take us to the classroom.
01:07:32Let's go.
01:07:33He's going to edumacate us a little bit.
01:07:35We're going to talk a little hoop.
01:07:36Coming up next here on Wake Up Barstool.
01:07:38Association.
01:07:39Association.
01:07:39It's time for another Wake Up Barstool around the office.
01:07:46And tis the season.
01:07:48Therefore, real tree or fake Christmas tree?
01:07:52Let's find out.
01:07:53Double Danny's here.
01:07:54All right, boys.
01:07:54Christmas is here.
01:07:55Are we real tree or fake tree, people?
01:07:57Real tree.
01:07:58And if you can, cut it down yourself.
01:08:00That's always fun.
01:08:01Hell yeah.
01:08:01Give me that fake stuff all day, every day.
01:08:04I don't want my house smelling like pine salt.
01:08:05I've got to clean up everywhere after.
01:08:07This isn't the wilderness, Lance.
01:08:08It's your living room.
01:08:09What's your best cut down a tree memory?
01:08:12Uh, the first time as a kid when you make it fall.
01:08:14You're using a little bow saw.
01:08:15And it takes forever, especially when you're a young kid.
01:08:16And then the tree finally falls.
01:08:18Christmas magic, you know?
01:08:19Grow up, Danny.
01:08:21You piece of s***.
01:08:22I had way more fun lugging it from Home Depot into my house.
01:08:26That's how real men are built.
01:08:27It takes more to carry it than to chop it down.
01:08:29I've been a fake tree guy my whole life, but I'm going real tree this year and fake tree
01:08:34and pine scented candle for the fake tree.
01:08:38So it smells like a Christmas tree where you put the fake tree.
01:08:41I'm here with Cam Newton.
01:08:42Cam, Christmas is upon us.
01:08:44Real tree or fake tree?
01:08:45So I grew up in a fake tree household because I had a cat in the house.
01:08:49And I don't know if the other animals would, but the cat would eat the tree.
01:08:53And that would cause irreparable bowel movements on a real tree.
01:08:57So we were a fake tree household growing up my whole life.
01:09:00I get the appeal of a real tree, though.
01:09:02I like the smell.
01:09:03You're saying the real tree was just s*** everywhere?
01:09:05I think the real tree would cause the cat to have issues.
01:09:10Okay, okay, okay.
01:09:11So we were a fake tree household.
01:09:12Real tree or fake tree?
01:09:14Real tree.
01:09:14Fake trees are just tacky.
01:09:16If you're going to do it, do it right.
01:09:17That's my opinion.
01:09:18What's your best memory of chopping down a real tree?
01:09:20One year, unfortunately, we stole one because we got there after hours and there was no one there.
01:09:24So my dad said he left a $100 bill as a donation, and I don't think he actually did.
01:09:28And it's been haunting me my entire life.
01:09:30I was probably like 10.
01:09:33That's perfect.
01:09:34Shout out White Sox Dave.
01:09:36Turns out, though, almost everybody in this office is fake tree.
01:09:40I'm a real tree guy.
01:09:41Me too.
01:09:41He used to work on a tree lot.
01:09:42Yeah, that's such a grind.
01:09:44That had to be brutal.
01:09:46Hey, guys, PSA.
01:09:47Hey, tip the tree lot, guys, okay?
01:09:50Now they're grinding in the freezing cold.
01:09:52All right, now it's time for some hoops.
01:09:55Woo!
01:09:56Professor Dana Beers.
01:09:57Professor Beers is going to take us into the lab.
01:10:01Dana, teach us about this wonderful sport of basketball.
01:10:03Boys, I just want to say this, all right?
01:10:06You can like any sport you want.
01:10:08You can enjoy any sport you want.
01:10:10I like them all.
01:10:11Yeah.
01:10:11However, if I were to choose one, it would be basketball.
01:10:14I'm sorry.
01:10:15No, it's fine.
01:10:15I know I'm in a room of football guys and gals.
01:10:17That's my favorite sport growing up.
01:10:18I love the NFL.
01:10:19I love college football.
01:10:20But if it came down to it, I'm a basketball guy.
01:10:22That's how I was born.
01:10:24Now, I hate to tell you this as well.
01:10:26There's going to be a day soon, in a couple months, where we wake up and there's no football.
01:10:33I know.
01:10:33I hate to tell you that.
01:10:34I know.
01:10:34It's true.
01:10:35So, I'm here to prime you a little bit early to make sure that you are prepared for that day.
01:10:40Okay.
01:10:40And to know what's going on just a little bit.
01:10:43Yeah.
01:10:43So, when that day comes, that you're ready to talk a little bit of hoops.
01:10:46But, Professor Peters, I don't want that day to come.
01:10:49What is that?
01:10:53Nobody wants the day to come when there's no football.
01:10:54I don't want the day to come.
01:10:56What?
01:10:56I'm just trying to get you guys ready for it.
01:10:58All right.
01:10:59You look like a stud in that picture.
01:11:00God, I do look hot.
01:11:01I look hot.
01:11:02Wait, I got to get out of my way.
01:11:03Yeah, don't cover yourself, Dana.
01:11:04No, I don't cover that.
01:11:05So, let's start with the number one story of the NBA right now.
01:11:09Put it up on the screen.
01:11:10The Oklahoma City Thunder.
01:11:12Did you know this?
01:11:13They're a historically great team right now.
01:11:15Did they win it last year?
01:11:16They won last year, the NBA Finals, when Tyrese Halliburton got hurt.
01:11:20We don't know if they would have won without or when Halliburton was in the game or not.
01:11:24Right now, I believe they're 22-1.
01:11:26Damn.
01:11:27And blowing teams out.
01:11:29And they didn't have their second best player for, I think, 17 of those games.
01:11:33Is it Holmgren, the second best player?
01:11:35Who's the second best player?
01:11:35Jalen Williams has been hurt.
01:11:37And he's back now.
01:11:39But they have been at a historic pace.
01:11:41They are blowing teams out.
01:11:42And they're going to be really good for a long time because they have a lot of draft picks.
01:11:47Well, and as I understand the Thunder, and Sam Presti's probably been the best GM in the NBA forever now.
01:11:53But they've been the youngest team in the NBA for a while now.
01:11:57They were making – it's been like the journey, right?
01:11:59Yes.
01:11:59They climb.
01:12:00So are they now challenging the 73-9 Warriors?
01:12:05What was it?
01:12:06What do the Bulls do?
01:12:07Do you think they're going to get to that level?
01:12:10Well, they – if they keep going how they're going, they can win 74 games.
01:12:15Damn.
01:12:16And they are only getting better.
01:12:17They have the Clippers draft pick, and the Clippers are bad.
01:12:20Yeah.
01:12:20For the next two years.
01:12:21So this team, these Thunder, that's the number one story right now.
01:12:24Okay.
01:12:25Historically great team and only getting better.
01:12:28Number two, we got some – the Eastern Conference stinks.
01:12:32Always, dude.
01:12:32Always.
01:12:33It's been my entire adult life.
01:12:35The Western Conference is extremely competitive.
01:12:37If the Thunder didn't exist, it'd be the Nuggets – it'd be the Nuggets, the best team in the league.
01:12:43Yeah.
01:12:43The Eastern Conference is pretty wide open.
01:12:45You have injuries with Jason Tatum and Tyrese Halliburton.
01:12:48We don't know what's going on with Giannis.
01:12:50The Knicks are like, okay.
01:12:52It's pretty wide open in the East, but it's all about the Western Conference.
01:12:56Dominant, dominant teams over there.
01:12:58Don't you forget that, Mikey.
01:12:59Okay.
01:12:59Don't you forget that.
01:13:00Put the Pelicans in the East.
01:13:02The Pelicans are horrendous.
01:13:03Why are we in the West, guys?
01:13:05Less good.
01:13:06We're in New Orleans.
01:13:07West good, East bad.
01:13:08Remember that in March.
01:13:09Okay.
01:13:10Yeah, that's good water cooler talk.
01:13:12Who was the best player in the world?
01:13:13All right.
01:13:14Kadic.
01:13:14I want to give you, if you were to guess, give me the top three players in the NBA right
01:13:18now.
01:13:18I can't wait.
01:13:19Yeah.
01:13:20SGA.
01:13:20Yeah.
01:13:21Oh.
01:13:22We want more.
01:13:22Look at this guy.
01:13:26And –
01:13:26Lakers.
01:13:29LeBron James?
01:13:30No, no, no, no, no.
01:13:32Big story.
01:13:32Oh, Luka.
01:13:33There we go, Megan.
01:13:34All right.
01:13:34So what do you notice about all three of those guys?
01:13:36Let me throw another guy, Giannis and Victor Wemignano.
01:13:40They can do it all.
01:13:41All five of those guys.
01:13:42What do you notice?
01:13:42They can drive the basket and shoot.
01:13:44T-Bob.
01:13:45International.
01:13:45International players.
01:13:46Oh.
01:13:47Do we have – do we have an American player who's going to step up and be the face of the
01:13:51league?
01:13:51What about – what about Lomelo Ball?
01:13:52Who's it going to be, boys?
01:13:54Look at that.
01:13:55Who is going to be the face of the league as an American?
01:13:57Right now –
01:13:57Zion Williamson.
01:13:58Anthony Edwards?
01:13:59Zion.
01:14:00Yeah, yeah.
01:14:00Zion doesn't play.
01:14:01Lomelo Ball.
01:14:01Well, Lomelo Ball also doesn't really play.
01:14:05A lot of players don't really play, unfortunately.
01:14:07Jason Tatum when he's back.
01:14:08Andrew Nembhard.
01:14:09But you think about that, Kadic.
01:14:10Isn't that like a little bit – a little bit sad?
01:14:12Yeah, I don't like that.
01:14:13Yeah, SJ's a Canadian.
01:14:15We got five of our best players –
01:14:17It's like hockey.
01:14:18Aren't even from –
01:14:19All the Canadians that are good.
01:14:20So, something to keep an eye on is if we –
01:14:22It's got to be Ant, though, right?
01:14:24It's got to be Ant.
01:14:24I'm with you.
01:14:25He's got that Jordan in him.
01:14:26Yeah, but he's – well, maybe literally.
01:14:28All right, number five.
01:14:30Let's see what we got.
01:14:31What is Giannis' future in Milwaukee?
01:14:33It's crazy.
01:14:34He – I don't know if you saw the highlight the other night.
01:14:36He just, like, kind of hurt his calf.
01:14:38Yeah.
01:14:39And just got out of the game.
01:14:40Very, very strange timing when he just basically asked for a trade a few days ago.
01:14:46Boys, the NBA, the association, give it a chance.
01:14:50Okay, how about this?
01:14:51Give it a chance.
01:14:51Should – are the Bucs still paying –
01:14:55and maybe this is Giannis wanted this, so I don't know.
01:14:57Maybe it's his own bed.
01:14:59But, like, the Bucs should have never fired Budenholzer, right?
01:15:02They don't – they went to – they won the NBA finals in 2021,
01:15:06and they fired their coach the next year.
01:15:07I'll never understand that.
01:15:08And now they've just been chasing their tail.
01:15:11I mean, Doc Rivers?
01:15:12Yeah.
01:15:13Professor Beers, I have a question.
01:15:14Or not really a question.
01:15:16You know what I really don't like about the association?
01:15:18What's that?
01:15:19These players, it's all a fashion statement on the sidelines.
01:15:23It is all a fashion statement.
01:15:23Like, every other – no, every other sport, if you're out with an injury,
01:15:28you wear what everyone else is wearing.
01:15:30Yeah.
01:15:30These guys are wearing, like, pink suits on the sideline and, like,
01:15:33wearing fur coats.
01:15:35You're right.
01:15:35Wear your team-issued gear.
01:15:37You're right.
01:15:37All right.
01:15:37I don't like that about the NBA.
01:15:39Don't give him – you're right.
01:15:40This is the most Pittsburgh, Midwest, old-school white guy take I've ever heard in my life.
01:15:44NFL.
01:15:45I'm not just saying NFL, but, like, everyone wears the team-issued gear.
01:15:48Tuck your damn shirt in!
01:15:50All right.
01:15:50And let's do some –
01:15:51Better not be painting your nails.
01:15:52Let's do some quick college basketball.
01:15:54Oh, yeah.
01:15:54See, now, this is a blind spot for me.
01:15:56I love the association.
01:15:57Freshman class is absolutely loaded.
01:15:59We have Cam Boozer, who's on Duke.
01:16:01Oh, yeah.
01:16:01We have Adrian DeBancis, Boston kid from BYU.
01:16:05Oh, yeah.
01:16:05We have a bunch of guys.
01:16:06Caleb Wilson at UNC.
01:16:08Co-op Pete, Arizona.
01:16:09These guys are awesome.
01:16:10Darren Peterson at Kansas.
01:16:12Keep your eye on them.
01:16:14Dominating right now.
01:16:15And then, right now, the number one team in the nation, everyone is saying, is Purdue.
01:16:19Purdue, is that going to last?
01:16:20Nope.
01:16:21Oh, Mikey, Purdue, how does that make you feel?
01:16:23Stinky butts.
01:16:24There's a couple teams that can challenge them.
01:16:25They've never won a national championship.
01:16:27They look really good.
01:16:28With all these freshmen everywhere, Purdue is more of a – they're led by a senior.
01:16:34They are older.
01:16:36You know.
01:16:36Professor Beers.
01:16:37Yes.
01:16:38Is Indiana a basketball or a football school?
01:16:40Currently, on this day, it's a football school.
01:16:43Yep.
01:16:43I agree.
01:16:43Oh, wow.
01:16:44And Purdue, you know, they could be number one preseason, but they've never won a national
01:16:48championship.
01:16:48So, we'll see.
01:16:49We'll see what happens at the end of the year.
01:16:50Boys.
01:16:51Professor Beers.
01:16:52Yes.
01:16:52If I enjoyed this, which I absolutely did, and I wanted to listen to more excellent basketball
01:16:57talk, maybe even specifically college basketball talk, where can I go?
01:17:01You can see those three handsome men right below you.
01:17:03Oh, look at that.
01:17:04Oh, my God.
01:17:05Right below me.
01:17:06Mark Titus.
01:17:06Oh, my gosh.
01:17:07Dana B. and Tate, and also White Boy Rick.
01:17:09Shout out Cody on the booth.
01:17:11Mostly hoops Monday mornings.
01:17:12I was about to say, you guys could look like brothers until you mention White Boy Rick.
01:17:15Yeah, true.
01:17:16God, he's so massive.
01:17:17I actually really enjoyed this.
01:17:18Thank you, Dana.
01:17:18Yeah, so, I mean, I just want you guys to get ready, because there is going to be a sad
01:17:22day.
01:17:23You wake up in February, and there's no football.
01:17:25Yeah.
01:17:25Okay?
01:17:26And we're going to have to swing it to the association.
01:17:29Okay.
01:17:29Okay.
01:17:29I want you guys to be ready.
01:17:31Okay.
01:17:31Go Pelicans.
01:17:32Go Celts.
01:17:33Not really.
01:17:33Go Tigers.
01:17:34I don't know.
01:17:35Any questions, Megan?
01:17:36Uh, no, sir.
01:17:37Not yet, Mr. Beers, sir.
01:17:38All right.
01:17:38Professor Beers.
01:17:39Professor Beers, sir.
01:17:40Professor Beers.
01:17:41Mr. Professor Beers, sir.
01:17:42Okay.
01:17:43Let's go.
01:17:44Shout out Beersy, man.
01:17:46Wrapping up the show.
01:17:47Heading into the weekend with a little skillet special parlay.
01:17:50Yummy, yummy, yummy.
01:17:51In my tummy.
01:17:53Uh, let's wrap it up, guys.
01:17:55No?
01:17:55Wrap it up.
01:17:55I kind of just said what I was going to say, so let's just go to break.
01:17:58Uh, skillet special parlay on the other side.
01:18:06Uh, welcome back.
01:18:09What's going on?
01:18:10Barstool Sports.
01:18:11So, uh, on my radio show, I would have probably talked about a story like this.
01:18:16So I'm just going to do it here because I can.
01:18:18Um, because this just blows my mind.
01:18:19Apparently, Netflix is acquiring Warner Brothers at a deal valued at $82 billion.
01:18:25B?
01:18:26Billion.
01:18:27How do you even, what even, where is that kind of money?
01:18:31What is, where is it?
01:18:33Late stage go.
01:18:34Late stage capitalism, baby.
01:18:36Where does it go?
01:18:36Out in the nether or something.
01:18:37Where does that money, what, how do I get a piece of that?
01:18:40Just one B.
01:18:41You guys remember?
01:18:41I don't want a B, I want a T.
01:18:43Whenever you had to do it.
01:18:44A thousand.
01:18:45Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:18:46It's like a trillion.
01:18:47Do you guys remember when you had to, like, physically go to the Netflix, like, box
01:18:52and, like, get the movies?
01:18:54Boxing, yes.
01:18:54I feel like I probably gave them at least, like, $1,000.
01:18:58Cadex's too young for that.
01:18:59I went to Blockbuster.
01:19:00Really?
01:19:00Oh, you did it.
01:19:01Yes, I used to love sitting in there.
01:19:02That's stolen ballard.
01:19:03Bro, the Blockbuster, they would always play.
01:19:05What was the, um, the little kid, the-
01:19:07What year were you born?
01:19:08Alfalfa.
01:19:09What was that?
01:19:09Yeah, Little Rascal.
01:19:10Little Rascals.
01:19:11They would be playing it up in the thing, and I would just sit there with my mom.
01:19:13With grocery shop, we'd be sitting in Blockbuster, watching the movie, and picking on a movie.
01:19:17Was there still the back room in Blockbuster when you went?
01:19:21I don't know.
01:19:21This is some kind of-
01:19:22You talking about the porn room?
01:19:23Yeah.
01:19:24Yeah, yeah.
01:19:25No, I was like, generally, I don't remember that at Blockbuster as much as, like, local video
01:19:30stores definitely used to have a porter.
01:19:31Dude, it was in the grocery store.
01:19:32My mom would go and shop, and we'd sit in Blockbuster.
01:19:34Oh, you see this, guys?
01:19:36That's called passive-aggressive television production.
01:19:39Yeah, they just wanted to move on.
01:19:40Speaking of that, they gave me three and a half.
01:19:43It's four and a half.
01:19:44Hey, yeah, come on, guys.
01:19:46Come on.
01:19:47Here it is, guys.
01:19:48Your skill and special parlay, plus 1,300 in this bad boy.
01:19:51Hook it.
01:19:52Megan's got Kentucky basketball, plus four and a half.
01:19:54Oh, well, I meant four and a half.
01:19:56Yep.
01:19:56Dana, what do you got?
01:19:58Celtics tonight against the Lakers.
01:20:00I believe Luka's not playing, so let's go with the Cs.
01:20:03Wait, Meg, when does Kentucky play?
01:20:05Saturday.
01:20:06Okay, I think because every other play here is Friday.
01:20:08Saturday?
01:20:09No, Saturday.
01:20:09A lot of points in the JMU-Troy game tonight.
01:20:12Woo, book it.
01:20:13Woo.
01:20:13All right, and then, look, Bear, I was already wanting to play this pick.
01:20:17Probably a bit biased by me, so beware, but Bear did just tell us that the underdogs
01:20:22in these conference championships, you know, if they're getting less than three,
01:20:25if it's the closer, they're winning almost double the amount they're losing.
01:20:29Give me the green wave at John Sumrall on the way out.
01:20:32Fun thing about why Sumrall and Morris both got new jobs is because, think about it,
01:20:37both their old quarterbacks from last year, Red Slough and Chandler Morris,
01:20:41both played in the conference championship, and yet here their teams are still in there.
01:20:45Have a great weekend, guys.
01:20:46We love you.
01:20:46Go Hoosiers!
01:20:47Who, who, who, who, who, who, who, who, who, who?
01:20:50Hoosiers!
01:20:52Hoosiers!
