00:00Yeah, it's just something that is sort of in my belly,
00:04and it's not just this time.
00:05I know that Shams had the whole thing about Giannis yesterday,
00:10and any time there is a big name in the NBA,
00:14and they're going upstairs to have a talk with the boss about their future,
00:18and whether that's Giannis or whether it's the Mavericks stink
00:21and they're going to move on from Anthony Davis
00:23or the 18th time that Joel Embiid and the Sixers are having this conversation,
00:29whatever it is, if you have a pulse and an NBA team,
00:34you immediately start thinking about that player on your team.
00:37So I'm not here to throw water on any idea of Giannis coming,
00:42because like you said, I'm not in his head.
00:45Like we get to Greg Cosell this one.
00:48I'm not in Giannis' head.
00:49I don't know what he wants.
00:52But I would be really surprised if what he wants is here.
00:57And my number one reason for saying that is like,
01:01yeah, he's got a great relationship with Steph,
01:04but if anybody out there thinks that a current NBA star in his prime
01:10is looking at the landscape of the league
01:14and thinking to himself,
01:17okay, where can I pair up and win?
01:20If you think that's here,
01:24you're a fan.
01:27You are a fan.
01:29And I'm a fan.
01:31But even I don't think that.
01:33This is not what I would pick
01:36if I were 30, 31 years old
01:40and I'm thinking,
01:42all right, where am I going to boogie
01:43for the next six, seven years of my career?
01:46Where can I make this happen?
01:47I would not circle the Warriors.
01:51Well, you could talk about where would you circle,
01:53but let's look at the teams that you might circle
01:56that aren't going to be in the Giannis business.
01:59Like you would circle OKC.
02:01Well, OKC is not going to break up what they have
02:03to bring you in.
02:05And you could circle Minnesota.
02:07And I think you could look at that and say the same thing.
02:09They probably won't break up what they have.
02:12So you can go team by team
02:13and look at the teams that look to be on the cusp
02:16of being really great,
02:18whether it's the Lakers,
02:19like Luka and LeBron.
02:20You're not going to part with either one of them.
02:22So they're off the table.
02:24And so as you go through it,
02:25you're looking at not only this year,
02:28but yeah, six or seven years down the road, sure.
02:31And if you're looking at the Warriors,
02:32you're thinking about this as a now.
02:34Because if the Warriors were to make this happen,
02:37they'd have to gut their future draft picks.
02:39And so if you're Giannis, you're thinking,
02:41all right, it's this year and or next year.
02:44And then probably that might be it.
02:47But even that, dibs.
02:48But even that.
02:49Even that.
02:50Even that to me is more appetizing
02:53than what you have in Milwaukee.
02:54Yes.
02:55Yes, I'll give you that.
02:56Milwaukee's terrible.
02:57So if it's Steph, Draymond, and Giannis, and JK,
03:01or it's Steph, Jimmy, and Giannis,
03:05no Draymond, no JK,
03:07like, you would feel like you've at least got a shot.
03:11You got a shot.
03:12Yes, you would feel like,
03:13I don't think that somebody in his position
03:16is going to go to the agent and to management
03:20and say, I would like out,
03:22and what I would like you to do for me
03:24is, you know, give me a shot
03:26over the next 18 months.
03:29Send me to Washington.
03:30That's not where, no.
03:32You want teams that I would actually be interested in
03:35if I were Giannis and my only,
03:36and again, I'm not in his head,
03:38but if my thought is, how do I win?
03:40How do I pair up?
03:42You want to know the names that come through my mind?
03:44Cade Cunningham comes through my mind.
03:47Victor Wembinyama comes through my mind.
03:51And maybe Jalen Brunson
03:54and a bevy of very good B-plus players in New York,
04:00like Carl Anthony Towns would be a part of the deal.
04:02That's where I'm thinking I could go,
04:07I could win, and it would last for a while.
04:09It would last for more than 18 months.
04:13Why would I join people who are 37 and 38 years old?
04:20I don't care what their name is.
04:22I know he's the most wonderful thing we've ever seen.
04:25But I just, I think that we see it through the glasses that we have,
04:31and I understand that.
04:32Yeah, but you also have to see it through the ESPN trade machine.
04:36And so if you want to go to Detroit,
04:39Tobias Harris makes 26,
04:40Duncan Robinson makes 16,
04:43Isaiah Stewart makes 15.
04:44All right, now you're getting close.
04:46And all your picks.
04:47And all your picks.
04:47So those three guys in Milwaukee's thinking,
04:50and no, I mean, yeah, maybe,
04:53and probably not in all your picks.
04:56Remember.
04:56Fine.
04:57Remember, Milwaukee does not have the power here.
05:00This is the NBA.
05:01Milwaukee has time.
05:03They've got the clock.
05:05Not necessarily.
05:05They don't have to do it now.
05:06They could do it in the offseason.
05:08They could.
05:08They could do it in next year's trade deadline.
05:10And by the way, right now Giannis is damaged goods.
05:13We have.
05:15Very temporarily.
05:16And I don't even know.
05:17Caps are tricky.
05:18Yeah, who knows.
05:19Like this could be a Jawan Jennings calf.
05:22Okay.
05:22It very much could be.
05:24He was pretty banged up.
05:24Oh, I'm sure.
05:26I take him at his word.
05:27Yeah, and I don't.
05:28I believe wide receivers.
05:30Anyway, do you think Jawan Jennings was telling the whole truth?
05:34I don't know.
05:34I don't know Jawan.
05:35Neither do I, but I don't.
05:38Anyway, I guess my point is,
05:42is if I'm Giannis and I'm looking at this whole thing,
05:47I'm in control.
05:49Anthony Davis got to the Lakers because he told New Orleans at the time,
05:53we're going to the Lakers.
05:55That's what we're doing.
05:57Now, sometimes, depending on the star you are
06:00and where you are in your career,
06:01like, for instance, Dame Lillard, you waited too long.
06:05Dame Lillard finally asked out when he was not kind of at his highest power.
06:10So when he goes, send me to Miami, they're like,
06:13well, all we heard was the letter M, so now you're in Wisconsin.
06:17We're going to go to Milwaukee, not Miami.
06:19And they had a little bit of juice in this whole thing.
06:23Milwaukee will have no juice.
06:25Nobody acquires Giannis unless an extension is signed,
06:28and Giannis can simply say that's the team where I will sign an extension.
06:33And if you don't deal me, then you get left with nothing,
06:37and I will not help your rebuild when the time comes.
06:40He is going to have all of the juice.
06:44Giannis goes, well, that's fine, but I don't know how waiting helps you.
06:49Well, you wait, and he doesn't play,
06:51and then now you are at the top of the lottery because you stink.
06:54And, I mean, if he has a calf, I mean, you're 10-13.
06:59Right now you're very much in the mix in the East, like everyone is.
07:02I don't know if I'd call them in the mix.
07:03Everyone in the East is in the mix.
07:05Yeah, they're hanging on to the bottom of the play-in tournament in a bad conference.
07:09Right, and if he doesn't want to play, if his calf lingers, and if it flares up,
07:13then you have the opportunity to wait and, you know, use lottery picks
07:17and then go ahead and, you know, try again next year or try in the offseason.
07:21Oh, I get it.
07:21You're not under the gun because he has one more year under contract.
07:24I know, but you know that this is not usually the way it works.
07:27When you've got franchise legends and they can start really messing with things,
07:32like you're – don't make the mistake of thinking that if Milwaukee waits
07:36that Giannis will necessarily just sit there and make that comfortable
07:39if that's not what he wants.
07:41He's got Shams.
07:42He's got social media.
07:44He's never shown himself to be that guy.
07:46No, he hasn't, but challenge him.
07:49Go ahead and don't do what he's asking you to do and let's see what happens.
07:52And I just don't think that the Bucs will do that.
07:55Like, I don't think – they've cowered to this guy at every single stage.
07:59Dame Lillard, Miles Turner, and beyond.
08:02And, like, that's what usually happens when an NBA star starts to buck.
08:08Like, it's very rare that the Miami Heat situation will happen
08:11where they're like, oh, you're not happy?
08:13Go home.
08:14But that's Pat Riley, and there aren't really any Pat Rileys out there anymore.
08:18Not in Milwaukee.
08:19Not in Milwaukee.
08:20So if he says, get me to the Spurs, well, then two minutes later,
08:25the Bucs are going to call the Spurs.
08:27Right.
08:27Right.
08:28I mean, it's easy to make that call, but then you look at San Antonio's roster
08:31and you think, okay, what can the Spurs part with that they want to part with
08:36that's going to actually match the money?
08:38And that's where it becomes tougher than –
08:40Yeah, it's always tough.
08:40They want to be a Knick.
08:41Okay.
08:42Well, the Knicks have the Kitty Cat making 53.
08:45They like him.
08:46They've got Ananobi making 40.
08:48They like him.
08:49They've got Brunson making 35.
08:50They like him.
08:51They've got Bridges making 25.
08:52They like him.
08:53Yeah, but you give someone you like up.
08:54Cat's in that deal.
08:56For sure.
08:56I mean, if you're Milwaukee, you don't want Cat.
09:00If you're Milwaukee, the only damn thing you can hope for here is picks.
09:03You want an expiring contract.
09:05You don't want Cat for 57 and then a player-op for 61.
09:09Sure you do.
09:09That's only a couple years.
09:10This is not going to be a quick fix in Milwaukee.
09:14Like, I mean, the player matching in a situation like this is kind of whatever.
09:19Like, you're going to have somebody to match,
09:22and then the only thing you can hope for is either, and maybe both if you're lucky,
09:26which is a pick haul, and then is there a young player who could develop?
09:33You know what I mean?
09:34And that's why if the Warriors were going to do it, absolutely.
09:38Rather than Jimmy Butler, they would say, give me Draymond and Kaminga.
09:42For sure they would.
09:43Not because they want Draymond.
09:45They want Kaminga.
09:46Like, give me the young asset that might pop.
09:49Give me all of your picks.
09:50Jimmy Butler does us nothing, and it covers all the salary.
09:53So that's for sure what they would do.
09:54And as they're throwing, can I have pods?
09:56Can I have Moody?
09:57That would all happen.
09:59So, I mean, think about when the, I think it was the Hornets at the time,
10:03when they sent out Anthony Davis.
10:05They wanted Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle, and they got all of these people.
10:10Now, none of them ever really did much there.
10:12But, like, that's the ideal.
10:15And then you hope that it can develop, like, you can be good while those players are still there.
10:20Didn't work for New Orleans.
10:22Right.
10:22But they were okay.
10:23And if you're going to trade with a good team, you're anticipating that the picks you get back are not going to be lottery picks.
10:29So I understand that you want to accommodate Giannis, but as an organization, it's up to you to make a trade that's actually going to help you.
10:37When you get picks back, you're going to get picks from a team that's not very good.
10:41Right, but...
10:42And Giannis doesn't have a no trade.
10:43No, but the thought is, is that anybody that Giannis joins is going to get better.
10:48So, like, that pick is automatically going to get worse.
10:51But if you send them to New York, and New York's already going to be a top eight team, and now they're a top four team, so now you're picking 28th?
10:59Yeah.
10:59Like, what's the point of getting a pick?
11:01And you're giving Giannis to a team that's going to be good for seven years, so now you get seven years' worth of staggered picks.
11:07Again.
11:08And they're all going to be bottom of the first round?
11:10You don't have a choice.
11:11You do have a choice.
11:11I don't think you do.
11:13Yeah, this is where you and I differ.
11:14We disagree.
11:15You're just going to keep Giannis and get nothing?
11:17You've got time.
11:18You've got time on your side.
11:20Giannis is under contract this year and next year, and he hasn't bucked.
11:24We've seen one report of...
11:26Pun intended?
11:27Yeah, pun intended.
11:28All right, thank you.
11:29And in the offseason, it was, you know, I want to go to New York.
11:32That's the only place I would go.
11:33Okay, fine.
11:34And then now we have a Shams report, and now Milwaukee's going to tremble and panic?
11:38No, it's a pre-buck.
11:39And whatever's going on behind the scenes is a hell of a lot more than what's going on
11:42on Twitter.
11:43Right, and now we have a calf injury, so now you can't trade a guy who's injured.
11:47Or is the calf injury a little message?
11:51Well, I mean, the message is I'm a hurt player.
11:54So go ahead and get less back for me because I'm too injured.
11:57That message might be I'm not playing for you anymore.
12:00Oh, the message actually might be, oh boy, it's a calf.
12:03My Achilles could be one jumper away from exploding.
12:06Yep, it could be.
12:07Yep.
12:08It could be.
12:08So if I'm the Bucs, I'm in no rush.
12:10Engagement is everything on the court and in live vote in our engaging Dubnation poll
12:14on 95.7 The Game's Twitter page.
12:16Before every game, presented by Shane Coe, your friend and jeweler.
12:19So, as we've been asking, a little movement in the honest talk.
12:23So if it were to cost the Warriors four first-round picks to get them, would you do it?
12:2880.7% say yes, which is not surprising.
12:34Well, I mean, and the question is, we don't talk about what it would cost and what it would
12:40mean.
12:41I don't even think it matters.
12:42I don't care who the players are.
12:43Well, it actually does matter to me, but it's fine.
12:45No, but I think you and I actually agree here.
12:47I don't trade four first-round picks from a team whose stars are 37 years old.
12:52I put the poll on YouTube as well.
12:54It's tracking 61% yes, 39%.
12:57What's up, YouTube?
12:58Y'all are smart today.
13:00Look at not all of you, but four tenths of you are smart.
13:02Look at you smarty pantses.
