00:00Can I read you some texts from the Boxer and Gerson work injury attorney's text line?
00:05Yeah, sure.
00:07Hang on, let's see.
00:09Because a lot of them just came through on this.
00:13And then we'll go to the phones.
00:14I do like this one, 415.
00:16Not getting Giannis would be like the Niners not getting Tom Brady
00:19because they thought they were good enough.
00:22Foolish.
00:23Okay.
00:24I don't necessarily agree with the comp, but I like the effort.
00:29I was on the wrong side of the fence at that at the time.
00:31I didn't think that Brady would go anywhere and win a Super Bowl, and he did.
00:35So I was wrong.
00:36And the Niners were coming off of losing a close Super Bowl.
00:40So the idea that they were right there is not crazy.
00:45They were.
00:45They were right there.
00:49But I think that's a fun kind of comp to throw in there.
00:56Let's see.
00:58408.
00:58Willard, you're crazy not to want Giannis.
01:01What can Jimmy do that Giannis can't do better?
01:04Boy, that to me covers only about 10% of the story.
01:08This is not a Jimmy for Giannis swap.
01:10Nope.
01:10That doesn't work.
01:11Trade machine.
01:12It doesn't work.
01:13So the Warriors are throwing in more.
01:14And oh, by the way, don't forget, probably at least three first-round draft picks.
01:21If it's Jimmy and Kaminga, you've got to take some stuff back, and you're going to give up,
01:26yeah, three firsts.
01:27If it's Jimmy and Kaminga, it's three firsts.
01:30If it's Jimmy and something lesser, then it's going to be four firsts.
01:34So, I mean, there goes a lot of your draft capital for the future.
01:37707, you must stop this sports talk nonsense.
01:43If you can get Giannis, you get him.
01:46Imagine the gravity with Steph.
01:49I get that there's an allure to that, but I guess my immediate answer to that is,
01:57because I can't tell you that it wouldn't be the most amazing thing ever,
02:01but I do think that even if it was, it would take some time.
02:04And I know we've got this comp of like Jimmy came in, you washed your hands, poof, and it worked.
02:10Most of the time in the NBA, when you have that much gravity on the floor,
02:15when you have people that are that ball-dominant, it takes a minute.
02:19It takes a minute to be at a high, high, high level.
02:24You know what I mean?
02:24LeBron goes to the Heat.
02:25They didn't win the first year.
02:28They were in the finals.
02:29Yeah, Luka went to the Lakers.
02:31They didn't win the first year.
02:32So, like, that's the other thing.
02:35I believe that this group, only Jimmy Butler being relatively new,
02:40smaller players like Horford are new,
02:43but this is largely a group that's been playing a lot of basketball together
02:47and appears pretty ready to go compete at a high level right now.
02:52And I think the big sticking point for me is Jimmy Butler.
02:57He doesn't really need to have the ball as much as Giannis does.
03:00Giannis is a better player, certainly,
03:02but I think that Jimmy has a better ability at this point to be the Batman.
03:06I mean, the Robin to Steph's Batman.
03:09And if you have Giannis come in, then I think it's going to be hard for those two
03:14to both be able to get their needs fully met when they're both on the court.
03:18And you're going to want them both on the court a lot.
03:205-1-0.
03:21Anybody that wants Giannis is not watching Kaminga this season.
03:25I mean, Kaminga's been great five games in.
03:27They're good.
03:28Yeah, and you can't trade Kaminga until January.
03:30So, the one trade I put in, it would be Moody and Jimmy.
03:35Like, if they made the trade before the game tonight,
03:37Moody and Jimmy for Giannis, that works.
03:40And then go ahead and give up four first-round picks,
03:43and we'll see how that goes.
03:44I don't, yeah, I don't, I mean, I think the Bucs would try to add another player in
03:49so that they could get Kaminga, not Moody.
03:51Right.
03:51That's what they would ask for.
03:52Moody has been upgraded to probable tonight.
03:55So, it looks like Moody will play with the,
03:56he was having some soreness in the thumb that was surgically repaired.
04:00Here's kind of another interesting take on it, 408.
04:03Giannis, call me old school, but just like Steph Curry is a warrior,
04:07I'd like to see him solely play for Milwaukee.
04:09Yeah.
04:10I mean, I don't really give a rip about that, but I get the sentiment.
04:14Yeah.
04:14You know?
04:14And he's got a long way to go.
04:16Giannis is not even 31, and if he plays another seven or eight years,
04:20I'd be quietly stunned if he finished out his whole career in Milwaukee.
04:25408, Willard, it doesn't matter what you think.
04:28Every GM and team will immediately trade for Giannis.
04:33A, no, that's not true, actually.
04:36Trades are hard, and so that would be very, very difficult to get done.
04:40And again, giving up all kinds of first-round capital, no.
04:44It's not just an automatic no-brainer that you go do something like this.
04:49And B, does it matter what I think?
04:51Like, no, it doesn't matter what I think, but that's what we're all doing here.
04:56Right?
04:56We're, like, offering up what we think.
04:58Right.
04:58You know?
04:59Like, if you want a couple of GMs to come in and do this show, you can.
05:02Your information might be better.
05:04I think your boredom would be higher, too.
05:05But whatever.
05:07Yeah.
05:07And...
05:08It doesn't matter what you think, Dibs.
05:09Yeah, and what's funny is it really matters what Giannis thinks,
05:13because he's got...
05:14That's another good point.
05:15He's got one year left on his deal next year, and then it's a player option.
05:19So, if he doesn't want to get traded somewhere, I don't think that he has a no trade,
05:23but he has the ability to say, I'm out.
05:26So, if you trade for him at the deadline this year, you might only get a year and a half.
05:30So, you give up four firsts and a couple of your key players,
05:34and you get a year and a half of disgruntled Giannis?
05:37No doubt this comes...
05:38Wherever he goes, it comes with an extension.
05:40Right.
05:41No doubt.
05:41No doubt.
05:42And, you know, the Warriors are in a little bit of a spot already as far as the financials,
05:46but...
05:47And if...
05:47Well...
05:48Well, Giannis is going to make...
05:49Let's just say this deal happens.
05:52It's Kaminga, and it's Butler.
05:53You take back a bunch of Antetokounmpo's, and he wants a new deal.
05:58He's going to get five years and probably $400 million.
06:01So, now you're paying him $80 average annual?
06:03But none of that would kick in.
06:05And, first of all, Butler would not be on the team anymore,
06:07and an extension would kick in after Steph is gone.
06:10Well, that's assuming Steph will be gone.
06:12Steph has the ability at the...
06:14I think at some point this year to tack on another year on his deal,
06:18and he'll probably want $70.
06:20So, quickly, you're going to be pressing up against that old second apron, Mark.
06:25Ooh, here's a fun one for everybody that's like,
06:27duh, of course you do whatever you can for Giannis.
06:31So, someone just said, would you include Steph?
06:34Right.
06:35I mean, sure.
06:37Sorry, Steph.
06:38You're a Bucs.
06:39You get to go play with Kyle Kuzma.
06:42You're a Bucs.
06:43Is that where Kuzma is now?
06:45I can't even keep track.
06:46Yep.
06:46That's where Kuzma is.
06:48Miles Turner's playing there now.
06:50Miles Turner.
06:50Steph, I know you've carved out a nice little life down there in Atherton,
06:54but I need you to call Aisha and the kids.
06:57Aisha.
06:58Packy things.
06:59You know who else is playing for the Bucs?
07:00The one warrior that got away.
07:03Ryan Rollins.
07:04Ryan Rollins.
07:04He's actually good.
07:06Oh, he's actually good?
07:07He is.
07:08Yeah, good.
07:09Let's get a look tonight.
07:10And let's go to the phones.
07:11How about Don and Barkley?
07:12Hi, Don.
07:13What's up?
07:15Hi.
07:16I'm with Willard.
07:17I want to see where this goes.
07:19And part of that is because, for me, following sport is like reading a novel
07:25or watching a good series on TV because there's stories and personalities.
07:31And the Kaminga thing is so interesting to me because he's finally doing all the
07:36things that if he had done them last year, we wouldn't have had a summer full
07:40of controversy.
07:42He would have gotten paid what he wanted.
07:44And now he's doing it.
07:46And he looks terrific.
07:47He's rebounding.
07:49He's hitting three-pointers at a high rate.
07:51He's hitting foul shots.
07:53He's making good plays.
07:54He's playing within the flow, whether it's the Butler influence or whatever it is.
07:59I just really want to see where it goes with Kaminga.
08:01Is he a generational talent like some people have justifiably thought?
08:07And, you know, Giannis is obviously a great player, but I think Kaminga and the
08:13chemistry that they have now, they have so many interesting storylines.
08:17I think Quentin Post is a fascinating storyline, somebody that they weren't
08:22expecting anything from.
08:23And then he goes out and he pops three-pointers.
08:25He's put on weight.
08:26He's defending at a high level.
08:29And I just really like the team as it is right now.
08:32I wouldn't break it up.
08:33Don, thanks.
08:34Yeah, that's interesting.
08:36Here's one thing that you said that I, let's spend a minute or two on this.
08:40The idea of, like, I want to see where Kaminga's stardom grows.
08:44And does he just become really good?
08:46And he said generational talent.
08:47That might be a little bit much for me.
08:49No, I agree.
08:50It's a little bit much for me, too.
08:52But I'm also, like, I'd love to say it this way.
08:54I'm not that interested in that.
08:58That's that individualism thing that I'm really just so done with.
09:02I'm so done with this whole individualistic thought process in the NBA.
09:09So every single one of you, for instance, who's ever uttered the phrase in this Kaminga
09:13conversation, let him cook, you're doing the individualistic thing.
09:17I have no interest in anyone cooking.
09:19I don't want anyone to clean.
09:21I don't need anybody to vacuum.
09:23I don't need anybody to do anything.
09:24I need the Warriors to be a good team.
09:27And what Kaminga's doing right now fits.
09:29So what I want Kaminga to do is this.
09:33Yeah, keep fitting.
09:34Wherever that goes next, that's where that goes next.
09:36That's a different conversation for a different day in a post-Steph world that may or may not
09:41be on this team.
09:42But I'm not, I'm just not that attached to that process.
09:47Can he become a generational talent?
09:50Can he be exactly what this basketball team needs him to be?
09:54Because that appears to me to be what he figured out this summer.
09:58So far, the answer is yes, he can be that.
10:01And I do think sometimes about the post-Steph future.
10:05And if you still have Kaminga, and he continues to be this type of a productive and positive
10:11player, and you think about the other young guys you have, assuming you keep the majority
10:15of them, in three or four years, you could have a nice group of guys in their mid to late
10:1920s.
10:20I'm not saying any of them will be superstars or all-stars, but you would have a nice foundation
10:25to then add a piece like a Giannis at 33, a real top flight guy to come in and lift this
10:32good solid core over the top.
10:34But I told you this a month ago going into this season.
10:37And I'm just going to focus on enjoying Steph and enjoying what we have.
10:43And four and one is, it's awesome.
10:45I mean, they could be five and oh, they could be oh and five, whatever.
10:48I'm just enjoying watching that guy play basketball still and watching this team around him.
10:53And yeah, Giannis, it's always a topic whenever Milwaukee is going to be around and you play
10:57him twice.
10:58Thank God you don't play him more often.
11:00Otherwise, we'd be talking about this a ton.
11:02But yeah, I'm with you as far as interested in training for him.
11:06I'm not.
11:06I'm not interested.
11:08Yeah.
11:08And like I said off the top, by the way, if that sounds silly, I totally get it.
11:13Like, I'm willing to be the guy that two years from now, you know, like puts his palm
11:20on his forehead and is like, what the hell was I thinking?
11:23I'm just telling you where I'm at mentally and emotionally right now.
11:27I love what I'm seeing in terms of warrior basketball, these first five games.
11:34And I'm not, I don't want to trade anyone for anyone.
11:37So you could replace the Giannis name with whoever you want.
11:41I mean, maybe Wemby, but you know what I'm saying?
11:44Like you could put any name in there and I'm like, I don't know, dude, I'm kind of in the
11:48process of falling for this team and I just want to watch it right now.
11:52So like, it's more even just the mind frame I'm in right now.
11:58They've played some really interesting basketball stylistically.
12:03They played great basketball.
12:04They were 12 and three last year.
12:06So I'm not sitting here going for one start.
12:07Ooh, I'm going to win the whole thing.
12:09I'm talking about stylistically and the answers they have to the problems that get presented
12:16on an NBA floor.
12:18Like, Ooh, I am very intrigued.
12:21So that's all.
12:22I just want to watch this thing go.
12:24Yeah.
12:24And it's interesting because I was just looking at the Twitter page and our engagement poll
12:29brought to you by Shane Co.
12:31The votes are coming in and right now it says if it meant losing Jimmy and first round picks,
12:37would you still want the Warriors to trade for Giannis?
12:39It's run 53, 47.
12:41The no's are barely ahead.
12:44So there's a lot of yes.
12:45I mean, the yes, but there's more no's than I thought there'd be.
12:48Uh, people who would not be interested in trading Jimmy as a part of a package.
12:54I think people are excited.
12:55Yeah.
12:55I think people are excited about warrior basketball right now.
12:58Why wouldn't you be?
12:59They've won different styles.
13:01They've won against high level opponents.
13:03They've already beaten the Lakers, the Clippers, and the Nuggets.
13:06Draymond Green was on his podcast the other day and he named five teams in the West who
13:12he thinks are the true contenders.
13:13Well, they're one of them.
13:15That leaves four other teams.
13:16They've played three of them already and they've beaten them all.
13:18They held the Clippers to 30 points?
13:21In the second half.
13:21In the second half.
13:22Exactly.
13:23Like, and so yes, it's just a start and it's all of those little things.
13:28I get it.
13:29But at the same time, I don't know, man.
13:32This is a very, very interesting start and I just want to go on the ride.
13:38That's my mood right now.
13:41Let's go to Austin in San Jose.
13:43Hi, Austin.
13:43Thanks for the call.
13:44What's up?
13:46Hey, fellas.
13:47Hey, Will.
13:48How are you guys doing?
13:49What's up?
13:49I want to push back a little bit as I like to do.
13:53So, for me, I would do the deal.
13:57For sure.
13:58I would do it.
13:58No problem.
14:00You know what I mean?
14:00Bring Giannis here.
14:03Don't want to be prisoner of the moment.
14:07I think that Jimmy, while he's fine, Jimmy always feels like a rental to me.
14:11I would go get, if you want to go ahead and do the KD thing, absolutely go get Giannis.
14:18And I don't see any of the young guys that I wouldn't trade to get Giannis.
14:23That's kind of where my thoughts are today, guys.
14:25Thanks.
14:25Yeah.
14:25I mean, again, I'm not going to sit here and call it crazy for anybody who's like,
14:29yes, you get Giannis by any means necessary.
14:34I don't think that's a crazy opinion.
14:36It's just not where I'm at.
14:38And then, I also love to dive into the analytics of these things.
14:42Take this, for example.
14:44And I bet you'll get this right away.
14:46The second Jimmy Butler arrived, what was the stat that immediately went from,
14:53you guys are terrible at it, to you guys are great at it, almost overnight when he arrived
14:59last year.
15:00What was the team thing that they couldn't do well, that all of a sudden they did really
15:06well?
15:07Shoot free throws?
15:09Exactly.
15:10Who sucks at it?
15:11Not Jimmy.
15:15Giannis.
15:15Yeah.
15:16Well.
15:16Under 65%.
15:18His field goal percentage this year is higher than his free throw percentage.
15:21Understood.
15:22He's shooting 68 from the floor.
15:24Yeah.
15:24Yeah.
15:24He's 65, so.
15:26He's 64 this year.
15:27He's 69 for his career.
15:29Yeah.
15:29But he's also, things are out of whack this year.
15:31He's shooting 57% from three so far.
15:34He's a 28% career shooter from three.
15:38So he's off to a hot start.
15:39Good for him.
15:40He's averaging.
15:40I mean, 57%.
15:41He's probably six for 11, I would guess.
15:44I can tell you exactly what he is, actually.
15:48Five for nine would be 55.5%, so I thought six for 11 would be about 57%.
15:53Let me pull up the game log here.
15:56Three points.
15:57He is, ooh, almost really, really good.
16:01Seven for 12?
16:02No, he's four for seven.
16:04Oh, wow.
16:05Yeah?
16:06Okay, there you go.
16:06Yeah.
16:07Yeah, he's four for seven.
16:09Yeah, he's averaging, I think, 36 and 14.
16:1136 points a game.
16:12He has not been held below 31 in the first four games.
16:16And if you look at scoring in the association, scoring has been bananas.
16:21The Heat are leading the league, averaging a buck 31 a game.
16:27So, I mean, defense is kind of passe now in the association early on.
16:31Yeah.
16:32Look, I mean, there's no rational way we can sit here and be like, well, here are the parts
16:38of Giannis' game that I don't like.
16:40Like, dude, he's one of the top five players in the league.
16:42This is not arguable.
16:44So, I fully understand that.
16:46I just think that when you are in the mood for a trade, it's because you're not really
16:52thinking that what you've got is special.
16:56And by the way, the Giannis idea, I don't think most people even think about it in terms
17:01of what it would do for the Warriors this year.
17:03They think it's a smart move because it would ensure the Warriors have a star for the next
17:08six or seven years.
17:10And let me tell you something I don't care about today.
17:122020, 2029, 2026, I don't care.
17:17Exactly.
17:18I mean, I care about 2026 because that's the second half of the season.
17:21You know what I mean, though?
17:21Yes, exactly.
17:22I don't, I'm not, I don't, I'm not worried about that right now.
17:27There's a long way to go with, uh, with Steph and Jimmy.
17:30There's a lot of basketball games left to go this year, next year, and then who knows
17:35what happens after that.
17:36And so to me, those of you who really would want Giannis, you're basically saying like,
17:42yeah, I, I need you to secure 2027 and 2028 for me.
17:46I'm just like, maybe I'm not, I'm not there.
17:50My mind's not even on those years.
17:51My assumption is that when those days come that they will do what is needed to be done
17:57to secure that.
17:58I don't think that post-Steph, Joe Lacob will step back and say, you know what?
18:03God, what a run that was.
18:04Let's go ahead and just draft really smart and build with this young core and we'll wait
18:09three to five years before we hopefully make it back to where we were.
18:13No, as soon as they no longer have a $62 million a year star because he retires, he's going
18:20to go out there and find a guy making 70 million and go trade for that player and do everything
18:24in his power to keep this baby rolling.
18:27Completely.
18:27That's Joe Lacob.
18:28Yep.
18:28Absolutely.
18:29Joe Lacob.
18:30707.
18:30Willard, I get you're excited about the team this year, but let's take it easy and enjoy
18:34the ride.
18:35Warrior started off 12-3 in their first 15 last year.
18:38I'd argue that's exactly what I'm doing.
18:40That's actually my point.
18:42Like, can we enjoy this ride?
18:45I want to enjoy this ride.
18:46I don't want to create a new ride.
18:48I'm not done with this one yet.
18:50We just got started.
18:51Right.
18:51We haven't even gone up the first incline on this roller coaster.
18:54On chapter one of the book, I really like it.
18:56I'd like to read the rest of it before I pick up another one.
18:59That's all.
19:01Nobody's jumping ahead to conclusions.
19:02I just think that this is a super interesting team that's got a lot of answers, but let's
19:07see what happens.
19:08Omar in Oakland is next.
19:10Hi, Omar.
19:10Thanks for the call.
19:13What's going on?
19:13And I want to make a couple points.
19:15I want to say that Warrior fans got to stop being delusional because you're not going to
19:18get a KD type of player every year.
19:20That situation happened because the salary cap was way weird back then.
19:25And KD took a less deal than he should have took on the market.
19:29And he also did a solid when he left in 2019 because he did a signing trade, which turned
19:33into D'Angelo Russell, which then turned into Andrew Wiggins, who obviously helped the Warriors
19:37win a final in 2022.
19:40Which then turned into Jimmy Butler, by the way.
19:42And it also turned into Jonathan Kaminga.
19:44We might.
19:44Exactly.
19:45Yep.
19:46I agree.
19:46But what I'm trying to say is, why would the Bucks even do a trade for...
19:50Giannis is 30 years old.
19:51They could get way better offers from Orlando, Atlanta, Chicago, New York Knicks, Brooklyn,
19:58Boston.
19:59Why would they even want to take a 36-year-old Butler and all these guys?
20:03They're trying...
20:03They're not in a situation of trying to get older.
20:05Giannis is 30.
20:06He's in his prime.
20:07If he is going to get traded, I think it would be a team like OKC or Minnesota, if we're
20:12being honest, or the Spurs.
20:13Well, Omar...
20:14Where they have young pieces.
20:15Yeah, you could be right, but remember, Giannis is the one who ends up having a lot of say
20:19in this, for the reason that Dibs just brought up earlier, which is he's not going to re-sign
20:23with a place that he doesn't want to be.
20:25So, these are never conversations that include all of the teams.
20:29Milwaukee will not be...
20:30If this were to come to be where they were having trade conversations, Milwaukee's not
20:35in control.
20:36Giannis is in control.
20:38So, there's that aspect.
20:39The second part of it is, what teams actually want, and thank you so much, Omar, what teams
20:43actually want when they're forced to trade a star, because what they really want is to
20:47just keep their guy, but when they're forced to trade a star, what they really need is a
20:52lot of draft capital in return.
20:54So, like you mentioned the Knicks, and I know that the Knicks have been mentioned as where
20:57Giannis, that's his first choice of where he wants to go.
21:00Well, all of their first-round draft picks are gone, because they thought Mikael Bridges was
21:04a superstar.
21:05So, what do you do?
21:06What do you, like, that's the problem.
21:09Could they get a better player from the Knicks?
21:11Sure.
21:11But they could get a lot better draft capital from Golden State or many other places.
21:17And then, yeah, you have to answer the question of, where does Giannis want to go, and does
21:22that place also want to bring his brothers along for the ride?
21:25I mean, for the ride, sure.
21:26You guys, you two, Thanasis and Opasas, I can't remember.
21:31That's Thanasis and Opasas.
21:33It is Thanasis and Opasas.
21:35I know it's Thanasis.
21:35I don't know what the other dude's name is.
21:37Yeah.
21:38I mean, Agassis.
21:40It's something like, there's a sis in there.
21:42Huh?
21:42Kostas.
21:43Yeah, there you go.
21:43That's a good, proper Greek name.
21:45Kostas?
21:46Kostas.
21:47And Alex?
21:48And Alex.
21:48Wait, there's four of them?
21:50Yeah.
21:50There's actually five Antetokupos.
21:52But there's only three.
21:53There's another one named Francis.
21:54But there's only three on the Bucs, right?
21:57Yeah, there's only three.
21:58I don't think Alex is a Buc.
21:59Alex is a Buc.
22:00Oh.
22:01I'm looking at the roster right now.
22:02I don't know where Kostas is.
22:03Kostas is not a Buc.
22:05Yeah.
22:06Yeah.
22:06He's not.
22:07There's too many to keep track of.
22:08Get the Buc out of here, dude.
22:10That's a four.
22:11Thanks.
22:11Yeah, Thanasis is a 6'7", small forward.
22:14And Alex is a, he's on a two-way.
22:16So, wherever you go when you're not in Milwaukee, he's going there.
22:20But the other piece of it is, if you're the Bucs and you trade Giannis somewhere,
22:26just all hypotheticals, of course, but you want that team to be no good, so when you get
22:32their picks, they're actually high picks.
22:33So, you're not going to trade them to the Warriors knowing that, okay, now Giannis is
22:37a Warrior and I get their picks in 29, 31, 33, and 35, whatever it is, but the odds are
22:44the Warriors are still going to be good.
22:45Yeah.
22:46Because they've been good.
22:47You're forced, though.
22:48Your hand is forced.
22:49You know what I mean?
22:49When Dallas sends Luka to the Lakers, you're going to get the Lakers' first-round draft
22:53picks or whatever, and it's like, those are going to be lottery picks?
22:57Probably not.
22:57Probably not.
22:58You know what I mean?
22:58But you're stuck.
23:00Again, what do the Bucs want to do?
23:01They would like to keep Giannis.
23:03This is the point you made.
23:06You're right.
23:07It's what Giannis wants that's going to happen.
23:09Yeah.
23:11I'm just coming at it from the fan perspective of, I don't give a rip right now.
23:15I don't give a rip.
23:16I know the Bucs are on the schedule tonight, so this is bringing everyone, oh,
23:20who would trade for Giannis?
23:21I don't care.
23:22I do not have any interest in discussing Giannis' trades right now.
23:27I want the Warriors to beat Giannis tonight.
23:30That's where my head is.
23:31Favored by two and a half.
23:33The Warriors are.
23:34Interesting.
23:34And Bucs are a home dog.
23:35You know we love them home dogs.
23:37We've got a couple of them here on a Thursday night.
23:38Yes, we do.
