Cebu 'icons,' emerging leaders cited for contributions to city's growth

Cebu’s established icons and emerging leaders in business are recognized for their significant contributions to the city’s growth as the Philippines’ Queen City of the South. Their innovations, leadership, and vision continue to shape the city’s dynamic business landscape. Each received plaques of recognition during the event that featured in the newly launched 'Men In Business' magazine, a 74-page publication highlighting the movers and shakers who have strengthened Cebu’s economy and inspired the next generation of industry leaders. The Freeman’s general manager Melandro Mendoz said the magazine continued the legacy of previous recognition projects, noting that it aims to celebrate the province’s most influential business personalities. The launch took place at NUSTAR Resort Cebu, bringing together the magazine’s featured personalities in a celebration of Cebu’s thriving business community.

00:00Now everyone, let's smile for our friends from the media.

00:30Once again, it's awardees!
00:46Punahan kaayong salamat for sharing your inspiring stories.
00:52Three, two, one.
00:54Sir, good afternoon po.
00:56Bakit po natin nag-come up itong magazine po natin for today?
01:01Actually, yung plan ko talaga for Primac, nag-come up kami ng mga magazine.
01:09Pero nag-start ako nung 100 years ng Primac.
01:11Supposedly, it's a milestone every five years.
01:14But last year, hindi ko nag-up because nag-launch ako ng another project, which is yung Progressable.
01:19So, nalate ko ito.
01:21Nag-come up ako because, like Progressable, ang goal ng Primac, ang takbo ng Primac si Carl, is to promote Cebu.
01:28In every aspect, ipopromote natin yung Cebu.
01:32In terms of tourism, and out in business.
01:35Because, yung mga nag-feture man natin, or the business industry, kasabi man sila sa nagehove para mag-grow yung Cebu, di ba?
01:44Ang Cebu pa, paganda ng paganda, since nag-start ako in 2004, nakita ko yung growth ng Cebu.
01:51And, yung growth na yun, hindi lang naman, ah...
01:54Dibaga, lahat ng mga Cebu na natulog ko, for that.
01:58Or, para maka-reach natin yun.
02:00Di ba, parang, kung tutusin tayo, next to Metro Map.
02:03Gusto ko lang i-honor yung mga people behind sa pag-grow ng Cebu.
02:10So, how important it is, o ano yung impact Cebu na pumirecognize their efforts in building Cebu?
02:17Kung baga, kung mag-happin pa yung recognition for them, parang ang ano yun ay parang appreciation to them.
02:24Parang, na-appreciate natin yung ginagawa nila.
02:27And then, magtutuloy-tuloy sila sa pag-gawapan na, para makatunog sa pag-grow ng Cebu.
02:34Sir, this is the maiden issue of MIB.
02:37What is the setup of this? Is this the next publication of the magazine?
02:42Actually, it's not naman na serious na siya.
02:44Actually, ang plan ko talaga is to have a magazine every month to years ng kulman.
02:51Mag-start kami yung 100th personality Cebuano personality.
02:54That was 2019.
02:56So, supposedly last year, maglo-launch kami ng isa pa, which is ito.
03:00But the thing is, medyo naglo, ano yun, naikip na yung time.
03:03So, pero, yun nga, gusto namin mag-makapagmagasin every five years.

03:23And then, is there any, anong, possible repercussions?
03:26Especially, yung number one.
03:27Yung number one.
03:28Yung number one.
03:29Yung number one.
03:30Actually, yung women palaga.
03:33Mas una pa kaming may project ng women.
03:36Kasi, ah, for 13 years, meron kaming power women.
03:39Nala konteks sa social media.
03:42Yung power women, nag-evolve na rin.
03:44From social media, nag-stream kami sa newspaper.
03:47And then, noong 2018, nag, ano kami, nag-exhibit.
03:53So, yun yung pina-plan namin.
03:56Another magazine for women naman.
03:59It's power women.
04:00Karo, nasa staging.
