00:00On September 17th, 2023, Lake County deputies in Florida got behind a stolen Toyota Corolla.
00:05The felony stop wouldn't go as planned, and Deputy Corey Labreck, along with his K-9 Murphy,
00:10would take the lead in the moments ahead.
00:12Nelson, let's take it to the intersection. Let's block it in.
00:19What?
00:20We are on South Street. Eagle One's going to call it. I'm number one.
00:50We are on South Street.
01:20At this point, officers back off. Eagle One, Lake County's helicopter, has the suspect in view from above.
01:27For the next several minutes, the chase goes quiet.
01:29Eventually, Eagle One spots the vehicle turning into a dead-end neighborhood.
01:32Deputies close in, setting up stop sticks and preparing to box him in.

07:55Not yet.

08:15He's doing his pants.
08:17Good job, Murphy.
08:19Good job, buddy.
08:21Here, Murphy.
08:27You worry about yourself, man.
08:29Okay, the one-man hair closed.
08:30You don't need my rights to nothing.
08:32You just put the lights on.
08:33Passing your side?
08:34Yeah, I see.
08:35I can't do a whole lot of damage.
08:38I can't just scrape the side.
08:43The suspect, 26-year-old Henry Lee Gamble Coleman,
08:46was taken into custody after a K-9 apprehension.
08:49He was charged with grand theft auto, aggravated battery on law enforcement, and fleeing to elude.
08:54His bond was set at $16,000.
08:56While records don't show a sentencing for this incident,
08:58he was booked again in May 2024 on charges including resisting without violence,
09:03possession of a controlled substance, and sexual battery.
09:05All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
09:08You ever wonder what kind of mindset makes someone hit the gas in broad daylight while sitting in a stolen car?
09:12Sun's out, and life is normal, and the person still decides the smartest thing to do is play a game with cops that they weren't built to win.
09:18Thieves rarely plan their escape.
09:19They improvise on the fly.
09:20And these people driving away, they tell you they're not thinking ahead even five seconds.
09:24Daylight makes every choice louder, every mistake clearer, and every decision they make impossible to miss.
09:28You can see it in the way they maneuver the car.
09:29No plan, just reacting to whatever's in front of them.
09:31But this is what's good about day work because it doesn't hide anything.
09:34It shows you every bad decision as it happens.
09:36After a while as a cop, you can spot when someone's just trying to outrun the mess they made.
09:39Even with the tires shredded down to nothing, this guy still tried to drag that car forward
09:43like a few more feet was going to outsmart with probably a lifetime of bad decisions.
09:46Now he jumped out of that car like he had one last genius move left in him,
09:49but that move lasted about 10 seconds.
09:51Because the canine didn't hesitate.
09:52That dog locked onto him the way a well-trained partner does.
09:54No confusion, no doubt, just purpose.
09:56And watching this guy go from I got this to I'm done is one of the reasons cops do this job.
10:00The way these criminals are wired is truly something to be studied
10:02because they'll risk a car, a dog bite, and their own freedom
10:05long before they'll risk being honest about the life that got them here.
