00:00I don't know, man, if you're a Niner fan, it's hard, like we were just talking about,
00:04it's hard not to dream in this moment.
00:07It's hard, I think, to look at the standings and realize you've got nine wins.
00:13Oh, that's tied for the tops in the entire NFC, and it's hard not to dream a little bit.
00:22And I wonder, the fans out there, we wonder, 888-957-9570,
00:29there is total parity, there is not a team that stands out.
00:33I guess you could still say the Rams, that's kind of what it had looked like,
00:37but all it takes is one late blemish to get people kind of questioning what you're doing,
00:43and that was a weird one on Sunday.
00:46So, is this a good thing?
00:47I could give you ten teams, at least, and you almost feel like they've all got an equal shot
00:53at ending up in Santa Clara with the confetti coming down.
00:57Again, I think later in the week, before we get fully into Week 14,
01:00you and I can do a way-too-late prediction game of,
01:05go ahead and predict all eight divisions right.
01:07I dare you.
01:08Go ahead and take all eight divisions, and we don't have to do it today,
01:11we can do it tomorrow or Thursday, but I think that all of us,
01:15Lucas and Grandy and yourself and me, I doubt we'd all go eight for eight,
01:19because you've got seven of them that are up for grabs.
01:21The Patriots, I think we'll all go ahead and lock that one up,
01:24although they still could be vulnerable, but last night, it's one part the Giants are an embarrassment,
01:31and it's two parts.
01:32Like, the Patriots, they're a complete team.
01:34Their quarterback is amazing.
01:36They can run it.
01:37They can stop it.
01:38Turns out they have a good special teams unit as well.
01:41That's the most complete team in football right now, but beyond them,
01:45it's wide open in the other seven.
01:47You don't want to lock in the Broncos 10-2?
01:49Not yet.
01:50No, I mean, the Broncos are a little wonky, too.
01:53Well, they're this year's Chiefs from last year.
01:57I mean, here we go again on Sunday night football.
02:01You end up in overtime against a team that had been looking hapless,
02:05and then they go for two in overtime, and they don't get it,
02:08and off you go with another one-point win.
02:10Like, that's been their year.
02:12They play the Raiders this weekend.
02:15God figured they're probably going to be 11-2,
02:17but then, here's why I'm with you.
02:20Look at what happens then.
02:21Rest of the way, Packers, Jags, Chiefs, Chargers.
02:24That's the end of the Broncos schedule.
02:26Super, super hard.
02:28Yeah, that's what we're looking at.
02:30You could do this outside.
02:32And even the Patriots, I mean, the Bills are there, right?
02:34But they've probably got it.
02:36Like, I love this.
02:38I love this.
02:38We were talking about the games that are coming up this weekend alone.
02:41The Bears play the Packers.
02:43The Colts play the Jags.
02:46You know, the Steelers play the Ravens.
02:49The Lions and Cowboys play in 48 hours.
02:52Like, there are phenomenal games.
02:55And I know that people, we used to do this every year
02:58when the Patriots were in the Super Bowl every year,
03:01and people would go, kind of Cheryl Bosa-esque,
03:04no, not the Patriots.
03:05Right, not the Patriots.
03:06Like, I don't want to go to the Super Bowl party with the Patriots again.
03:10And then the ratings would say, yes, you do.
03:13The Warriors have, like, we would hear this in the NBA.
03:16Yeah.
03:16Outside of this area, oh, I'm so sick of the Warriors.
03:20No, you're not.
03:21No, you're not.
03:21The ratings say otherwise.
03:23So I actually don't know if what we're looking at is great for the ratings,
03:28the interest.
03:29All I can speak for is me.
03:31I love this.
03:32I love this.
03:33And if you're a Niner fan, with what they've gone through,
03:36you have to love it.
03:38Because it is the thing that is giving, I think, the Niners a little bit of hope.
03:43Yeah.
03:43And the hope comes from the parity,
03:45and it also comes from the fact that even though you've lost players,
03:48you've done it in a certain way.
03:50And I do think we can do a little bit of a deeper dive on the coaching staff,
03:54not just the head coach and the coordinators,
03:56but the coaches below the coaches.
03:59They've all done great.
04:00And you look at, you know, the defensive linemen.
04:02So Cleland Furrell comes in, and he has a two-sack game.
04:05And Keon White, who was a cast-off and a healthy scratch in New England,
04:09and now he's come in, and now he is a dude.
04:12So did he suddenly get better on his own,
04:15or is he being coached and put in a spot where he can actually play better?
04:18And I think it's obviously parts of both.
04:21Some of both, for sure.
04:22You can't help but look at this coaching staff.
04:23And Ross Tucker had a great answer with Steine and Goo earlier to that very point,
04:27and it had me thinking.
04:28It's not just Shanahan and Salah and, you know, Brant Boyer and special teams.
04:33It's the coaches below them, and the coaches below them.
04:36It's the whole staff.
04:37Look, look, they've been phenomenal.
04:40And I don't know how to say otherwise.
04:42All I know is that you and I host an afternoon drive show in San Francisco,
04:48and we are starting to get very few I'm mad at Kyle Shanahan calls this year.
04:57Very few.
04:58Very few.
05:00I don't know what's in the arsenal anymore against the coaching staff.
05:05I won't make it about Kyle because I know he triggers a lot of you.
05:08Oh, his press conferences.
05:10Like, whatever.
05:11I don't know what's in your arsenal this year about the coaching staff.
05:16Cross the board.
05:17They've been fantastic.
05:19They have been given, I don't know if I could argue they've been given the worst hand
05:23because some coaches get bad teams, and the Niners aren't that.
05:27But they've probably been given the worst circumstances for a team.
05:32Injury-wise?
05:33Yeah, that's trying to win.
05:35And, my God.
05:38Sure, sure.
05:39Schedule's easy.
05:40I get it.
05:41I get it.
05:41And that's the remaining arrow in everyone's quiver.
05:43And you can fire that, especially if they go out and they lose two of the last four.
05:47If they limp to the finish line.
05:49But still, if you wind up with 11 wins and you go to the playoffs, that means you're one
05:52of the 14 best teams regardless of schedule.
05:55For sure.
05:55That's how it works.
05:56And 5-1-0, we have yet to beat anyone.
05:58Relax.
05:59The Rams and Seahawks say otherwise.
06:02Like, I don't know.
06:04I think those are, you could easily argue those look right now like the two best teams in
06:08the NFC.
06:09Perhaps.
06:09Niners have beaten them both at their places.
06:11They both look like they're heading toward the playoffs or they will be playoff teams.
06:15And so, that actually counts and it matters.
06:18And nobody's saying that about New England, by the way.
06:21And you look at the Patriots schedule, and Grandy and I did this yesterday.
06:24Grandy did such a great job filling in for you as you were making your way back.
06:28But the one thing that the Patriots and the Niners have in common is they both play the
06:33NFC South.
06:34So, the Patriots have gotten New Orleans and they've gotten Carolina.
06:38They've gotten to fatten up against that division too.
06:40But nobody talks about New England's schedule having the Jets twice.
06:43Are you kidding me?
06:44And the South.
06:45And they're playing a last place schedule.
06:48And this year, if the Niners win the West and the Bears win the North, you're going to
06:53have three teams go worst to first.
06:55Which, according to my brief research, that's never happened.
06:59You've never had three in the same year.
07:01So, yeah, parity's awesome to me because you can be the Schmitz one year and you can come
07:07back and win the division the next.
07:08I love what you just brought up.
07:10I love what you...
07:12I haven't thought about this.
07:13No.
07:14If I read the Patriots schedule to you all, you would laugh.
07:17It's easier than the Niners.
07:20Well, yeah.
07:20I mean, they have a lot of common opponents.
07:21They have a lot of common opponents, but they don't have two other good teams in the
07:25division.
07:25They've won.
07:26Yep.
07:27They've won.
07:27The Niners have four...
07:28The quarter of their schedule is against the Seahawks and Rams.
07:32The Patriots have two games against the Bills.
07:34Yep.
07:35Listen to it.
07:36Raiders, Dolphins, Steelers, Panthers, Bills, Saints, Titans, Browns, Falcons, Bucks, Jets,
07:42Bengals, New York Giants, then the Bills again, the Ravens, the Jets, and the Dolphins.
07:48That's the Patriots schedule.
07:50Nobody out there is being like, well, easy schedule.
07:55The NFL's hard.
07:56I don't care who you're playing.
07:57Yes, that is a part of the Niners story, but we knew that before the year started.
08:02We knew that before the year started.
08:04And I wonder what the Patriots record would be if they had played eight games without
08:09Drake May.
08:10Well, they kind of caught a little bit of a break because their other crossovers, the
08:14AFC North, and Pittsburgh's been struggling to find it.
08:18Their coach may be leaving.
08:19The Bengals didn't have Burrow for basically three months, and the Browns are the Browns.
08:23No winning records in the whole division.
08:25And for the Ravens, maybe by the time they play them, will.
08:27Buffalo's not as good as we thought.
08:29The AFC North is certainly not as good.
08:31And they got to play the NFC South.
08:32Baltimore is not as good as we thought.
08:34Even I, when they were one and five, I'm like, they're still going to win the division.
08:38And they might, but let's be real.
08:39We've all now had an extended look at Lamar.
08:42I don't know who sat down and unbuckled their belt and watched that crap the other night
08:46against the worst defense in football.
08:48Oh, that was a good one.
08:49That was an Ottoman cover for your boy.
08:51He is dust until next year.
08:53I'm sorry.
08:54He's hurt.
08:55He's hurt.
08:56He can't run away from defensive linemen.
08:58This is not the Lamar Jackson I know.
09:01No.
09:01So they are not that challenging.
09:02The backup is Cooper Rush, right?
09:04Correct.
09:04I believe still.
09:05And when he played and he was awful.
09:06He couldn't function.
09:07So they moved on to Snoop Huntley.
09:10That's right.
09:10And brought him back.
09:11Like, yeah.
09:12The fact that they're six and six is, well, yeah, that's just a sign of their division
09:18too.
