00:00It's here folks, the Total Gym. This is about 87 pounds. I just came today from New Jersey.
00:12Bought off eBay. This wasn't from a company, so I hope everything's okay.
00:18Anyway, let's open it up. It is heavy. Let's open it up and see what it has.
00:33Okay, so it actually looks like it was taped up. It was sold as new.
00:40So, um, here's the CDs, DVDs, owner's manuals, left and right, left and right, hand grips, pads, straps,
00:58and in the center there are all the screws, I guess, and the hardware, and then like a, one of the foot rests.
01:10There's the unit itself.
01:14Pretty heavy, so they say watch out for any pinching.
01:20And I got the owner's manual open and I'm going to set this up.
01:25So you're going to want to, they say, take it from here to set it up. There's the legs down there.
01:31But just watch this will fall off if you bring it too much this way.
01:36So you push it all the way towards the, the feet, and then you lift, and there's the two stands on the bottom.
01:46Now, using your feet, it says, open it only about 12 inches.
01:58Okay.
01:59There must be a reason for that.
02:02Because you don't want it to fall on you.
02:04So as you see, I have, uh, this pushed all the way over.
02:09Watch your feet if this thing tries to fall on you.
02:13But the next thing is you have to pull this up.
02:16Now to do that, uh, there's a green and a black one.
02:19You pull the black one out.
02:21So, okay.
02:24So you pull the black one out.
02:26And then pull up the column, they call it.
02:30And until it snaps in place.
02:33And you have the one through 12 levels here.
02:38Okay.
02:38And you'll see the pin sticking out.
02:46So you don't want to use this before that pin is fully engaged.
02:50Just take the, uh, once that snaps in place, that pin will pop out right like that.
02:55That's on the black one.
02:57Now, so I set it on level four.
03:00Now I was able to slide the unit back.
03:04Because, uh, you have to have plenty of room on both sides.
03:08Now let's see what happens when I just push this up.
03:13So I imagine there'd be something down here you have to do next.
03:16Because, like the feet connector thing.
03:20Um, I'm sure there's, once you get into it, um, there'll be more, uh, instructions on how to get those hand cables going.
03:34So let's look for the next, uh, number.
03:38On the, uh, owner's manual.
03:42Also, I was able to get the, uh, packaging.
03:45You know, those nuts and bolts.
03:47From underneath the unit.
03:49They'll be all over the place.
03:50Uh, maybe tied to the railings.
03:52So make sure you don't, uh, break anything when you take the, uh, packaging out.
03:58You want to make sure everything is, you see, uh, clipped to the side.
04:03Or, that's how it was anyhow.
04:05All the insulation and the hardware was, uh, all wrapped, wrapped together.
04:10So there is that piece.
04:16The foot thing just pops in.
04:18Easy enough.
04:19Now let's go up towards the, uh, hand cables with the hand grips.
04:29A left and a right.
04:33I guess they're arm rests.
04:35So let's, let's see if we can hook those up.
04:40Um, so the idea here is you have the handle, which is going to face towards the vertical column.
04:50And that says left.
04:52And then you've got the left on this.
04:54So the idea here is just find the hardware.
04:58And this will go, uh, just like this.
05:06And then we'll find the right screws for that.
05:09Um, and then.
05:13That'll, uh.
05:15Let's see, they pick either this one or that one, I guess.
05:20Um.
05:23These are called the ab crunch pads here.
05:28Okay, so all the hardware is out.
05:31There's this one came, uh, separate.
05:34Then you have this, um, chrome, uh, bar here with the bend in it.
05:41You have four pins.
05:43The tool they gave you.
05:45One longer pin.
05:48And then, uh, I believe that might have something to do with the straps.
05:52We'll see.
05:53I haven't read that far yet.
05:55Um, and you have the.
05:56Eight washers.
05:59Flat washers.
06:01Okay, and then you have the.
06:03I think they're lock washers.
06:05Or it's got the cut in it.
06:07Eight of those as well.
06:09And the eight, eight bolts there.
06:13Okay, let's find out what they're all about.
06:15And just so you know which hole to use, uh, they mentioned something about the, uh, uh, your height.
06:23So you would use that if you were shorter or you could use that.
06:26Just don't use that, uh, last hole there.
06:29Now you'll see how this goes.
06:34You have the spring washer.
06:37That's the one with the cut in it.
06:39The flat washer.
06:42And the big part of the, um, big part of the ab crunch board will go towards, um, the back.
06:54So the smaller will go towards the column.
06:57Um, you can see.
07:00There's the column there.
07:01All right, so let's do that.
07:05So there's the, of course, the left and right.
07:07You got the four, uh, bolts on the left and the other four for the right.
07:14Okay, so the hitch pin will go in from this outside and pop in like that.
07:25Once again, this is the left side and, uh, handle curves in towards the column.
07:32So we'll take one of these bolts here and we'll put it through the spring washer first.
07:41Then the flat washer.
07:46And now that's going to go up through one of the holes into the left side.
07:55Because we're starting with the left.
07:56So you finger, finger tighten these screws and put the tool on they give you.
08:04Just tighten them down.
08:06Four, four on each side.
08:08I'm starting to see how I remember seeing it on TV.
08:20As much as your hands go on the bars, you lay face down on that.
08:29But, uh, this is just, um, how to set it up.
08:34Or maybe, guys, you could use your little sockets that just don't go too tight on them.
08:47So it says once these holes are stripped, you're not going to be able to fix them.
08:56If you have any issues with this, just take it off and you can see, see what you're doing.
09:05Because, uh, if you tighten three of these, I just found out, uh, you might not be able to get that last one in.
09:12So, even though there's three in, they should be loose, be, put all four in.
09:19And then these hand grips go just like that.
09:26Put one of the pegs in left and right side.
09:30And the pulley bracket with the longer pin goes there on the top.
09:40And you have that swing chrome thing there.
09:45That goes right in there.
09:47Okay, so you can see that pulley comes down.
09:52Okay, so we're pretty much all set there.
09:56And that could go up a little higher.
10:02Just, or you could take them off completely.
10:04They say take them off.
10:08If you want to, uh, depending on your height or if you're not using them.
10:14They're just pins.
10:16Just the four pins.
10:18Kind of reminds me of the Silboflex because, uh, that had pins too.
10:23But it's definitely good quality.
10:26We'll see how long it lasts and maybe make another video when I am used to some of the exercises.
10:33Okay, thanks.
