The former 'SNL' castmember was punched by an unknown individual Wednesday night after exiting a vehicle outside the Comedy Cellar, according to police.

00:11was punched by an unknown individual outside the comedy cellar in New York City after arriving at the venue.
00:18The assault took place after Redd exited a vehicle outside the front of the club
00:21where the performer was approached by an unknown individual and punched in the face.
00:26According to the NYPD spokesperson, the individual fled the location and Redd was left with a laceration to his face.
00:34After EMS arrived on the scene, Redd was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and then released.
00:40Redd was scheduled to perform at the comedy cellar for three shows on Thursday, October 27th.
00:45He's next scheduled for an October 30th show at City Winery.
00:49Earlier this fall, Redd announced his departure from Saturday Night Live ahead of the premiere of its 48th season.
00:54His new HBO Max comedy special, Chris Redd, Why Am I Like This?, is set to debut November 3rd.
