00:00The ACOWA's mission, led by its chairman and the president of Sierra Leone, Julius Maderbio,
00:06arrived as the junta which seized power last Wednesday banned all demonstrations,
00:11strikes and activities deemed a threat to peace and stability.
00:15In a statement late Sunday, the military authorities also ordered public institutions and ministries to reopen.
00:22Soldiers seized power in the West African nation three days after a closely contested presidential race,
00:28which the two main contenders claim to have won.
00:32During the coup, Guinea-Bissau's president, Umaru Sisoko-Embelo, told French media by phone that he had been deposed and arrested.
00:40He has since sought exile in the Republic of Congo.
00:44Nigeria said its president, Bola Tinubu, has granted protection for Guinea-Bissau opposition candidate,
00:50Fernando Dias de Costa, in response to an imminent threat to his life.
00:55A letter from Nigeria's foreign ministry said Dias de Costa was being housed at its embassy in Bissau.
