00:07has been summoned to appear before a military court,
00:11accused of links to multiple coup plots, according to judicial and military sources.
00:16Pereira, head of the PAIGC party that led Guinea-Bissau to independence in 1974,
00:23was arrested during the November coup that toppled President Emero Sisko Mbalo.
00:30just days after presidential elections.
00:32Although released last month, he remains under house arrest
00:35over separate financial crime investigations.
00:39Now, the military says he's suspected of involvement in at least two coup attempts
00:42in late 2023 and October 2025.
00:47Guinea-Bissau has suffered five coups since independence,
00:49with chronic poverty, corruption and drug trafficking,
00:52fueling ongoing instability.
