00:00This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmys, period!
00:08The Emmy Awards are finally here!
00:10On Sunday night, before any awards could be given out,
00:13host Stephen Colbert took to the stage with a musical number.
00:16It featured Anthony Anderson, Allison Janney, and a slew of handmaids.
00:20They all saying that everything is better on TV,
00:23especially in these politically charged times.
00:25Chance the Rapper joined in at one point, suggesting that it also might be helpful
00:29to get people involved.
00:31Hey, why not?
00:33After the host sang and danced, he had the audience cracking up.
00:38Literally.
00:39Look at Sarah Hyland. She couldn't even catch her breath.
00:42Some of his biggest moments were when he called out President Trump.
00:46In the beginning of the monologue, he joked,
00:48Hello sir, thank you for joining us.
00:50Looking forward to the tweets.
00:52Colbert pointed out that the Academy needs to shoulder some responsibility
00:56for the Trump presidency.
00:57He said,
00:58We all know the Emmys mean a lot to Donald Trump.
01:00Why didn't you give him an Emmy?
01:02If he had won an Emmy, I bet you he wouldn't have run for president.
01:06This is all your fault.
01:08And it didn't stop there.
01:09He added,
01:10Unlike the presidency, Emmys go to the winner of the popular vote.
01:14Where do I find the cards to tell that joke in this room?
01:16And the icing on the Trump chocolate cake was when he brought out
01:20former press secretary Sean Spicer.
01:22Colbert introduced him by asking,
01:24Is there anyone who could say how big the audience is?
01:27Spicer rolled out on a podium and reassured everyone that,
01:31This is the largest audience to witness in Emmys. Period.
01:34Both in person and around the world.
01:37The stunned crowd clearly couldn't believe that Spicer made a cameo within the first five minutes of the show.
01:43Colbert thanked him by saying, Melissa McCarthy, everybody give it up.
01:48The actress who hilariously has played Spicer on Saturday Night Live also couldn't believe it.
01:53Neither could we.
01:54Other standout moments from Colbert's monologue include him making fun of Oprah for being snubbed this year.
02:00And pointing out that Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown has proven that there are roles for actresses above the age of 12.
