00:00Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today. I'm Akshita Nandakopal back in the studios from Bengaluru, even as the politics continues in Karnataka.
00:11Over the next one hour, I'll be getting you a roundup of all the big stories coming in from the southern states.
00:17Here we begin with what to expect over the next 60 minutes.
00:21We'll be focusing, of course, on what's happening in Karnataka. I may be back in Delhi, but our focus remains on what's happening in Bengaluru,
00:27where you're going to see round two of a breakfast meet between D.K. Shivkumar and Sidramaya, this time in D.K. Shivkumar's residence.
00:35So what exactly is being discussed? What's cooking literally? What's on the table?
00:40We're going to be telling you all about that. Why has the second breakfast meet been called as the High Command demanded it?
00:46We'll break down all the details we have for you.
00:49But also coming up on the show, we'll get you horrifying footage that's emerged from Hyderabad of a four-year-old being beaten up,
00:58being stamped, dragged by a nanny.
01:02These are extremely disturbing images, but important for us to put out, important for us to highlight,
01:07to talk about how we're constantly seeing these unregistered preschools,
01:11these non-trained nannies, being given charge of little children and the price.
01:16Little children are paying for that.
01:18I'm Akshita Nanda Gopal. Let's begin with the top 10 headlines we're tracking today.

04:05One picture shows Raj putting a ring on Samantha's finger.
04:08The ceremony took place at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore.
04:19And let's begin with the latest breaking updates coming in on the Karnataka Game of Thrones.
04:24As always, here on India Today, we're getting you exclusive news breaks.
04:28D.K. Shivkumar speaking to India Today has confirmed the breakfast meet with Sidra Maya
04:32at 9.30 tomorrow morning.
04:34Remember, this time around, it's at D.K. Shivkumar's residence.
04:37D.K. Shivkumar to India Today has reiterated that they are a united force.
04:41There's no question of any sort of differences.
04:43Priyank Kargay, meanwhile, also speaking to the media,
04:47has dismissed all possible speculation over his meeting with Rahul Gandhi,
04:50saying, all is well.
04:52Listen in to D.K. Shivkumar speaking exclusively to India Today's Anika Kishas.
04:56Joining us for a conversation is Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Mr. D.K. Shivkumar.
05:01Sir, when is your Delhi visit schedule, sir?
05:03You said that Mekedatu issue should be...
05:06No, I want to meet the Water Resources Minister and the Environment Minister, both of them.
05:16So I'm seeking a time with them.
05:18When they give time, I'll just go and come.
05:21Sir, you also made a statement saying that a lot of BJP MPs from Karnataka are not cooperating.
05:26No, no. See, they all have to fight for the sake of Karnataka.
05:29We have gotten order.
05:31They have to cooperate and they should represent.
05:33Mr. Kumar Swamy has said that the Delhi-related delegation will be a part of that.
05:38So I'm discussing with the Chief Minister tomorrow morning on that issue.
05:43You see, before the assembly session, we should go one day and come back.
05:47We should give them the responsibility.
05:49They have to cooperate because they have been telling, no, you come, we are going to help.
05:54Let us see. Let us give the responsibility to them.
05:56Sir, while all this is happening, the BJP is making an allegation,
05:59saying that the governance is taking a back seat in the CMT.
06:02There is no tussle. Nothing to worry on the t-shirt.
06:06Sir, what time is the breakfast tomorrow, sir?
06:08Sir, what time is the breakfast tomorrow, sir?
06:109.30.
06:12Okay, sir. Anything apart in the menu, apart from natu koli?
06:15Apart from natu chicken, anything on the menu, sir?
06:17Don't worry.
06:20Are you and CM united, sir, on this?
06:22The entire state is united.
06:24They should not have breakfast also, no.
06:27No.
06:28If I have a breakfast with my colleague or dinner with my colleague,
06:33why does it have to make national headlines?
06:35I mean, the CM and DCM have mutually agreed that they will go first to the CM's house
06:45and then the DCM's house to quell all the speculation that's going around in this media.
06:49And if they dine, you have a problem.
06:52If they don't dine, you have a problem.
06:54What can we do?
06:55You have a problem meeting, me meeting Mr. Gandhi also.
06:59Who else will I meet?
07:00Will I meet Mr. Dattatre Osmale?
07:03Will I meet Mr. B.L. Santosh?
07:04Will I meet Mr. Mohan Bhagavad?
07:06Okay, so that's Priyank Kargay saying,
07:09who else will I meet if not Rahul Gandhi?
07:10Will I meet with Mohan Bhagavad?
07:12The Congress, of course, has been maintaining that there's nothing to worry about.
07:15There's no sort of controversy
07:17and there's no question of any sort of differences
07:19between DK Shiv Kumar and Sitramaya,
07:21which is why we're going to see a second breakfast meeting
07:24taking place tomorrow.
07:29But joining us here on this broadcast
07:31is A.S. Pondanna Legal Advisor to Chief Minister Sidramaya.
07:35Mr. Pondanna, namaskara.
07:36Thank you for your time.
07:37I'd like to highlight that Mr. Pondanna was there on Saturday
07:40for the breakfast meet.
07:41He was actually standing outside the Chief Minister's residence
07:43when we got those first pictures
07:45in which you could see Mr. Pondanna with DK Shiv Kumar
07:48and Sidramaya for that breakfast meeting.
07:50Mr. Pondanna, I'd like to begin with
07:52what transpired exactly on Saturday.
07:54There was a message clearly from both leaders
07:57that all is well.
07:58But we know that this was a meeting
08:01that was mandated by the High Command
08:03because of tensions.
08:07No, what happened or transpired between them
08:10was just between the two of them.
08:12I was not party to that meeting.
08:15Obviously, it's a very high-level interaction
08:17and I have no business also to be there.
08:21But of course, when the Honourable Deputy CM came in,
08:23I was there with the Honourable Chief Minister
08:26and that is why in the first visuals you will see me.
08:29Then after breakfast, the two of them were closeted
08:32and they had a long discussion.
08:36And after which, they addressed the media
08:38and said exactly what transpired.
08:41So I know as much as you do about what they spoke.
08:45And the message is clear that we are prepared
08:48and geared up to face the Assembly from the 8th in Belgaon.
08:51We are prepared to fight the false propaganda
08:53and narrative being built by the BJP in Karnataka.
08:57There is no division.
08:58We are united and we shall stand united,
09:01continue to be united
09:02and fight all the forthcoming elections together.
09:07I think what's very clear is that Mr. D.K. Shivkumar
09:09and Mr. Sidra Maya have a great working relationship.
09:11That was evident in the pictures and videos
09:13that we've seen in which you're there too, Mr. Ponnanna.
09:15But beyond that, the biggest difference remains
09:18that both perhaps have the same ambition.
09:20And that's something that wasn't addressed
09:22in the press conference either.
09:25No, there is nothing wrong.
09:26See, we have always maintained that the Congress Party
09:28is a party that believes in collective leadership.
09:31It is a party which believes in internal democracy.
09:34Debate is integral to a democratic setup.
09:39And we welcome every kind of debate.
09:42And of course, when we go together jointly
09:45under the collective leadership of several tall leaders in the party,
09:50there is bound to be ambition and there is bound to be claims.
09:53So there is nothing wrong with it.
09:54As long as everything is within the institutional discipline of the party,
09:59it is welcome.
10:01But then I also tend to wonder, Mr. Ponnanna,
10:04in these kind of differences when they come up,
10:06clearly at this point the leaders are maintaining
10:08that it's not coming in the way of governance.
10:10The BGP continues to maintain that when you have a chief minister
10:14and his deputy fighting it out for the same position,
10:17how can there be any work that's really being done?
10:20Because in any meeting, that's the top issue that will be discussed.
10:22Now, I can assure you that both the chief minister
10:26and the deputy chief minister are attending there
10:29to their regular work of the departments.
10:32Chief minister is the head of the state.
10:33The deputy chief minister is holding two portfolios.
10:36They are continuously attending meetings
10:38and working till late hours in the night.
10:41So administration, there is absolutely no problem.
10:44Of course, the opposition will want to believe
10:45that there is some problem with the administration.
10:48There has been no interference in the administration
10:51as far as these discussions go.
10:52This is a party matter.
10:54This decision will be taken by the High Command,
10:56if at all, as in when the time comes.
10:59So therefore, there is nothing to it except great hype
11:02and hope of the BGP that something will come up.
11:05But would you concede that there has been an inadvertent delay
11:08in a decision being taken on this matter,
11:10that this could have been nipped in the bud
11:12if there was a clear decision that was taken?
11:14There wouldn't be so much fodder for the BGP
11:16to kind of constantly question governance in the state.
11:20Do you think BGP needs any valid reason?
11:23Well, if this was nipped in the bud,
11:24they wouldn't have this.
11:26They are constantly finding reasons,
11:29creating reasons, creating stories,
11:31creating narratives.
11:32They are experts at it.
11:34This is also a creation of their own narrative.
11:36I was telling somebody today in the media
11:38that look at the bench stand of the Congress party.
11:40We have tall leaders across the board.
11:42We have people like Parmeshwar, M.B. Patil,
11:46Satish Jarkioli, Kriste Pyragoda,
11:49Ishwar Kandre.
11:50You name them,
11:51we have all of them in our party.
11:53So it is time for the BGP to introspect,
11:56look at their own strengths,
11:57look at the leadership that they have or they lack,
11:59and build from there,
12:01rather than focusing on what the Congress must do.
12:03No, but they are in the opposition,
12:05you are in the government,
12:06there will be questions about
12:07how the government is functioning.
12:08My only point is that you are saying
12:10it is a figment of imagination.
12:11Is it really of the BGP?
12:13Because as you also said,
12:14these are two leaders with the same ambition.
12:17I am not saying that it is imaginary,
12:22I am not saying it is a figment of anybody's imagination.
12:24All I am saying is,
12:26they have hyped it beyond reality.
12:28So because, you know,
12:30the real facts,
12:32the actual scenario is not sensational.
12:37So nobody wants to know what actually is happening.
12:39If you say that it is great bonhomie
12:40between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister,
12:43they are really good friends,
12:45they have high regard and respect for each other,
12:47it doesn't make news.
12:49But if you say they are fighting,
12:50then everybody wakes up early in the morning
12:52and watches television.
12:54But Mr. Pondana,
12:55the reality is that
12:56they were taunts on social media too.
12:58You know,
12:59this fight
13:00or, you know,
13:01these jibes taunts were made up.
13:03It happened,
13:04which is why the High Command intervened.
13:06Now, let's be honest.
13:07The social media post,
13:10there was a,
13:11you know,
13:11there were people reading between the lines.
13:14If somebody,
13:14if the Deputy Chief Minister,
13:15in fact,
13:16I was there in the program,
13:17in fact,
13:17addressed to my name and said it,
13:19that world power is world power.
13:22Now, this is some,
13:23this is a slogan of our government.
13:26In Kannada,
13:26we've been saying that
13:27which is that
13:30we have stood by our word.
13:32It is a government
13:33that has delivered
13:34what they've promised.
13:36And this is exactly
13:36what the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister
13:38said that day.
13:39But the media went,
13:40you know,
13:41I don't want to use Berserk,
13:43but yeah,
13:43they did go Berserk in a way
13:46and the started point.
13:47Then the Honorable Chief Minister said
13:49that,
13:50you know,
13:50it is a word to the people
13:51that we have lived up to.
13:5424 hours later.
13:55You can read so many things into it
13:57or else,
13:59you know,
13:59there is nothing to it.
14:00It's a perception
14:02and it's also
14:03individual opinions.
14:06Okay.
14:06Mr. Pundana,
14:07we leave it at that.
14:07Thank you very much
14:08for joining us.
14:10And tomorrow,
14:11of course,
14:11there's round two
14:12of the breakfast meat,
14:13so I hope you get a chance
14:13to be a part of that breakfast
14:15with the amazing
14:16idli, sambar and upit
14:17that I saw on the plates.
14:19Breakfast is everyday.
14:21Everyday breakfast.
14:22It's an everyday.
14:23And they have met for breakfast
14:24even before so many times.
14:26Okay.
14:26All right.
14:26So nothing to read into it,
14:28you're saying.
14:28Thank you very much,
14:29Mr. Pundana,
14:29for joining us.
14:32Let's take a look
14:33at all of the updates
14:34that have come in
14:34in the last 24 hours.
14:36The power tussle
14:37in Karnataka.
14:38There are efforts,
14:39apparently,
14:40to diffuse the crisis
14:41because you're seeing
14:42one round after another
14:43of breakfast discussions
14:45taking place,
14:45all happening in Bengaluru.
14:47Where the decision
14:48should be taken in Delhi,
14:49nothing's happened.
14:59So what time's the breakfast
15:07tomorrow is?
15:089.30.
15:10After the first round
15:12of breakfast meeting
15:13between Karnataka
15:14Chief Minister Sidramaya
15:15and his deputy
15:16D.K. Shivakumar,
15:18it is now time
15:21for True Stocks 2.0.
15:25Shivakumar has invited
15:26Sidramaya to his residence
15:28and on the breakfast menu
15:29this time
15:30is naati chicken.
15:33Sir,
15:33tomorrow you have
15:34bought chips for breakfast.
15:36What is on the menu, sir?
15:38Naati chicken.
15:41Nothing political, sir.
15:43When are you visiting Delhi, sir?
15:45Still last night.
15:46Still not late, sir?
15:48Ahead of the crucial meeting
15:50in Bengaluru,
15:51Shivakumar has claimed
15:52there is no groupism
15:53in Karnataka Congress.
15:55Of course,
15:56I have to go there.
15:57I have to discuss with CM.
15:59I want to have
16:00an all-party meeting
16:01in Delhi
16:01on various issues.
16:03So I'll discuss with CM.
16:05If it doesn't,
16:07I think I'll have to go
16:08and brief them.
16:09I have to meet the minister.
16:10I don't know.
16:11I have to just
16:11take out some time.
16:13What is the menu
16:13for tomorrow's breakfast, sir?
16:15Tomorrow may have breakfast.
16:16We'll inform you.
16:17Don't worry.
16:18The chief minister,
16:19who has accepted
16:20the invitation,
16:21has asserted
16:22that Congress
16:23in Karnataka
16:23is 100% united.
16:25P.J.P. says
16:28they bring a
16:28no-confidence motion
16:29against you.
16:29No-confidence.
16:30The peace talks,
16:47notwithstanding much,
16:49depends on
16:49the Congress'
16:50high command.
16:50The party-top brass
16:52is likely
16:53to summon the duo
16:54to Delhi
16:54to defuse the situation.
16:57The power crisis
16:58in Karnataka
16:59has given
17:00fresh ammunition
17:01to the BJP.
17:02Amid the all-out war
17:24in the southern state,
17:26all eyes are now
17:27on the Congress
17:27high command.
17:28Utsa Gairaj,
17:31Anagar Keshiv
17:32and Apoorva Jai Chandran.
17:34Bureau Report,
17:35India Today.
17:39Okay, let's bring in
17:40our reporters
17:40for the latest updates.
17:42Moshmi Singh
17:42is joining us
17:43live from Delhi.
17:43We have Anagar Keshiv
17:44joining us live
17:45from Bengaluru.
17:46Anagar, to you first.
17:47On the breakfast meet tomorrow,
17:49you had a conversation
17:50with D.K. Shrifkumar
17:51where he confirmed
17:52that 9.30 a.m.
17:53is when he's invited
17:54the chief minister over.
17:56But what's on the agenda,
17:57Anagar?
17:57Besides what's on the menu,
17:59what's really going
18:00to be discussed?
18:05Well, in fact,
18:06D.K. Shrifkumar
18:06told us that
18:07he will be bringing up
18:08the issue of
18:09Mekhya Datu as well
18:10with chief minister.
18:11But we all know
18:12what the main course is.
18:13The main course is
18:14regarding the optics management.
18:16Because remember,
18:17it was after
18:17the high command's push
18:18that CM first invited
18:20DCM
18:20and now the deputy
18:22has invited
18:22chief minister over
18:24for breakfast.
18:24So, the main issue
18:26is going to be
18:27regarding the optics
18:28management
18:29and to send
18:29a signal of unity.
18:31In fact,
18:32D.K. Shrifkumar
18:32is trying to score
18:33a meeting with
18:34Congress High Command
18:35before Belagawi
18:36winter session starts.
18:37Because now,
18:38the parliament session
18:39has already begun.
18:40Which means,
18:41Rahul Gandhi
18:41and Sonia Gandhi
18:42are going to be busy.
18:43So, D.K. Shrifkumar
18:44is trying hard
18:45to ensure that
18:46he scores the meeting
18:47before the Belagawi
18:48session starts.
18:49That starts on
18:49December 8th.
18:51Because after that,
18:52even he and the
18:52chief minister
18:53are going to be
18:53held up in that.
18:55So, D.K. Shrifkumar's
18:56main intent right now
18:57is to score a meeting
18:59with Congress's
19:01high command.
19:02And number two,
19:03when he also told us
19:04that he is trying
19:05to meet the
19:06water resources minister
19:07in the centre
19:08regarding the
19:08Mekedatu issue.
19:09So, his plan
19:10is if he ends up
19:11scoring a meeting
19:12on the Mekedatu issue
19:13in Delhi,
19:14then he can somehow
19:14make his way
19:15to meet Rahul Gandhi
19:17and Sonia Gandhi
19:17is what D.K.'s plan is.
19:19So, that seems
19:19to be the main agenda.
19:21Okay, I'll bring in
19:22Moshmi Singh
19:22who's joining us
19:23live from Delhi
19:24because Moshmi,
19:24you're seeing all
19:25of this action
19:25in Bengaluru.
19:27We're wondering
19:27when it'll happen
19:28in Delhi.
19:29Ultimately,
19:29look, you can see
19:30all these breakfast,
19:31lunch, dinner,
19:31meats, nothing matters.
19:33The decision has
19:33to be taken in Delhi
19:34by the high command
19:35which we were hearing
19:37would happen over
19:38the weekend,
19:38which we were hearing
19:39would happen by December.
19:40We were hearing
19:41it could happen
19:41three months from now.
19:42What's actually happening?
19:45So, clearly,
19:46Akshita,
19:46there's too much
19:47on the platter
19:48of the Delhi
19:49high command
19:50as far as
19:51politics is concerned.
19:53The first day
19:53of winter session
19:54just happened.
19:55There's a lot of
19:56ruckus in the house
19:57and surely
19:58the next two weeks
19:59are going to be
20:00very action-packed.
20:01So, one will have
20:02to wait and see
20:03whether the details
20:04can actually get
20:06that time
20:07that he is
20:08wanting from the
20:09party high command
20:10before the winter
20:12session is over.
20:13It's unlikely
20:13that Delhi
20:15would want
20:16the entire
20:17pitch to play out
20:18in Delhi
20:20during the winter
20:21session.
20:22That will give
20:23a fresh order
20:24to the ruling
20:25party,
20:25the BJP,
20:26about how,
20:27you know,
20:28Sarnataka,
20:29that is a model
20:29state for the Congress.
20:31As Congress
20:31would like to put it,
20:33it's turning out
20:33into a big ruckus
20:35and pandemonium.
20:36So, clearly,
20:37I think that
20:38the optics are
20:39playing out
20:40in Bangalore.
20:41The big chat
20:42and the command
20:44that has been
20:44given from Delhi
20:45is that you have
20:46to stay united.
20:48You have to
20:48limit the media
20:50for fighting
20:52in the media
20:52and in public glare.
20:54You have to stop
20:54that and put up
20:56a united fund
20:56though there's
20:57lots of viewing
20:58within the surface.
21:00Sure,
21:01but you could also
21:01address it
21:02by just ending
21:04all of the suspense
21:04and ending the drama.
21:06That somehow
21:06doesn't seem to be
21:07the ideal solution
21:08for the high command.
21:08Thanks, Moshmi.
21:09Thanks, Anagar,
21:10for joining us
21:10with those details.
21:11Let me bring in
21:12on this broadcast
21:13BS Arun,
21:13senior journalist
21:14and RK Upadia,
21:16senior journalist.
21:17Mr. Arun,
21:18I'd like to begin
21:19with you
21:19of what we're seeing
21:20right now in Karnataka.
21:21A second breakfast meeting
21:23while there's
21:24pin-drop silence
21:25in Delhi.
21:26We all thought
21:27that over the weekend
21:28Akshay would shift
21:29from Karnataka to Delhi
21:30that the high command
21:31would kind of get
21:31the wheels turning
21:32to take a decision.
21:34None of that happening,
21:35sir.
21:35It's only optics management.
21:38Well, it shows
21:39that the Congress
21:40high command
21:41is in no hurry
21:42to resolve
21:43the Karnataka power crisis.
21:45They have shown it again
21:46and asked Shukumar
21:48and Sidhra Mayer
21:49to hold a breakfast meeting.
21:51Now, there is not just one
21:52but two breakfast meetings.
21:54There was no breakthrough
21:55in the first meeting.
21:56I don't think
21:57there will be any breakthrough
21:58either in the second.
22:00But as you rightly pointed out,
22:02the decision
22:03has to be taken
22:04in Delhi.
22:05The Congress high command
22:06has given
22:08sort of an indication
22:10for quite some time
22:11that it's not too concerned
22:13about the developments
22:15that are happening
22:16in Bangalore,
22:18in Karnataka.
22:18because, you know,
22:21the statement war
22:22had been going on
22:23for quite some time.
22:24We saw a tuto war
22:25just before
22:26the two met
22:28for breakfast.
22:29Correct.
22:30You know,
22:30about the world power
22:31and the world power.
22:32So, this is sort of,
22:34you know,
22:34the cold war
22:36happening between the two.
22:37But the high command
22:38has not opened its eyes.
22:40All that happened
22:42was Karge
22:43coming to Bangalore
22:44and meeting
22:45some of the leaders
22:46and Sidhra Meya
22:48going to Delhi
22:49and meeting
22:49Rahul Gandhi
22:51while in.
22:52D.K. Shukumar
22:52got sort of,
22:53you know,
22:54a loss of face for him
22:55that although he
22:56went to Delhi,
22:57he could not meet
22:58the Congress leadership.
23:00So, to that extent,
23:01you know,
23:01there is some sort of
23:02a setback
23:04for Shukumar
23:05both in Delhi
23:06as well as in Bangalore
23:07in the sense
23:08that the breakfast meeting,
23:10you know,
23:11turned out to be
23:12a damn squib.
23:13There was no
23:14major development
23:16as regards
23:16the leadership tussle
23:18that they,
23:20you know,
23:20repeated the mantra
23:21of being united,
23:23you know,
23:23fighting the elections
23:24together and,
23:25you know,
23:25it was more of a blah-blah
23:27than anything
23:28that was concrete
23:29that was told
23:30to the media at least.
23:31We don't know
23:32what exactly
23:33they discussed,
23:34whether they agreed
23:35to anything
23:36or whether they disagreed
23:37to anything.
23:39But the fact is
23:40the leadership tussle
23:43has remained
23:44unresolved
23:44as of today.
23:45Let me turn this around,
23:46Mr. R.K. Upadhyaya.
23:47Are we reading too much
23:48into these breakfast meats?
23:50This is the chief minister,
23:51the deputy chief minister
23:52getting together
23:53for a huddle.
23:54Maybe they're discussing
23:55governance.
23:56Maybe they're discussing
23:57administrative issues
23:58in the state
23:59of Karnataka.
24:00At the end of the day,
24:01do they have a great
24:02working relationship?
24:03And so,
24:04therefore,
24:04as a result,
24:05governance isn't really
24:06taking a hit.
24:06They're being patient
24:07with whatever
24:07the high command
24:08will decide.
24:11Actually,
24:12that two of them
24:12can have as many
24:13breakfast meetings
24:14as they want.
24:15I mean,
24:16after all,
24:16one has to have
24:17a breakfast in the morning.
24:18So,
24:18you know,
24:19instead of just
24:20to eat li,
24:20vada and puri,
24:21they could have
24:21a naughty chicken
24:22as Shukumar has promised.
24:24And some politics.
24:24So that is good for them.
24:26I mean,
24:26but that apart,
24:27I don't think
24:28any substantial issues
24:29are being discussed.
24:30And it cannot happen
24:31just between the two.
24:33There has to be
24:34central mediators,
24:35you know,
24:35who can sit down
24:36with them
24:36and then work out
24:38a solution.
24:39Otherwise,
24:39you're just,
24:40you know,
24:40getting nowhere.
24:42My hunch is,
24:43you know,
24:43Rahul Gandhi
24:44is least interested
24:45in change of leadership.
24:47You know,
24:47it goes against
24:48the grain of his
24:49social justice agenda.
24:51And he feels
24:52that Siddharamaya
24:53is the best person
24:53right now.
24:54And if he's
24:56removed from power,
24:57it will go against
24:58his own policy.
24:59Because after all,
25:00Congress has only
25:00three chief ministers
25:01and Siddharamaya
25:03belongs to the OBC
25:03and replacing him
25:05with somebody
25:05like Shukumar
25:06will send out
25:07a bad,
25:08you know,
25:08wrong message
25:09across the country.
25:10That could be
25:10one thinking.
25:11But then,
25:12you see,
25:12I'm also looking
25:13at what could happen
25:15if, you know,
25:16Shukumar gets a chance.
25:18See,
25:18after all,
25:19if at all
25:19he has been given
25:20a promise,
25:21then, you know,
25:21that has to be
25:22honoured sometime
25:23or another,
25:23probably in a couple
25:24of months
25:25or three months
25:25or whatever.
25:26But then,
25:27what is Shukumar
25:28going to bring
25:28to the table?
25:29I mean,
25:30as citizens,
25:31we are not really
25:33enthusiastic
25:33about Shukumar
25:34taking off
25:35because we know
25:36what he is capable
25:37of or not capable
25:38of.
25:38So,
25:39you're suggesting
25:39you're looking for
25:40Sidharamaya
25:40over a DK
25:41Shrivkumar?
25:42Yeah,
25:42see,
25:43looking at that,
25:44see,
25:44Shukumar has been
25:45very undemocratic
25:48in his style
25:49of functioning
25:49and, you know,
25:50he's very rude
25:51with his own
25:52MLAs
25:52and he's not
25:53very polite
25:54with the people
25:54who go to meet him
25:55and then,
25:56when it comes
25:57to the projects
25:57that he has taken
25:58up,
25:58he doesn't even
25:59like,
26:00well,
26:00meaning criticism.
26:01Look at the tunnel
26:02project he has
26:03taken up.
26:03I mean,
26:04he has been
26:04passionately
26:04following it
26:05and then,
26:06look at the cost
26:07that is involved
26:07and every expert
26:09has criticised it
26:10and then,
26:11from 18,000 crores,
26:13now it is going
26:13up to 42,000 crores
26:15and yesterday
26:16there was a meeting
26:16of experts
26:17across the board
26:18from Indian Institute
26:19of Science
26:19and so many organisations,
26:21all of them said
26:22this is ill-advised,
26:23ill-conceived,
26:24unscientific
26:25and financially
26:26ruining everything
26:27but this man
26:29doesn't want to
26:29listen to anybody,
26:30doesn't want to
26:31listen to anybody
26:31and everybody
26:32has pointed out
26:33the best way
26:33to solve
26:34the traffic problem
26:35in Bangalore
26:36is have more
26:37mass transport,
26:38have more metros.
26:39No,
26:39but are you suggesting
26:40then,
26:41Mr. Upadia,
26:41that you believe
26:42that Sidra Maya
26:43is the better
26:43chief minister
26:44of the two?
26:45No,
26:46I don't think,
26:46yes,
26:47naturally,
26:47I mean,
26:48you know,
26:48as it stands,
26:49he's at least
26:50more,
26:50you know,
26:51balanced,
26:52he has carried
26:52everybody along
26:53and Sidra Maya,
26:55you know,
26:56that's the reason
26:56why,
26:57you know,
26:57MLAs like him.
26:58Mr. Arun,
26:59what do you think?
26:59Kumar is not able
27:00to get the support
27:01from the MLAs.
27:02Mr. Arun,
27:02what do you think?
27:03Do you think
27:03that ultimately
27:04it comes down
27:05to the fact
27:06that Sidra Maya
27:06is someone
27:07who the MLAs
27:08prefer,
27:08that he has the support
27:09of most number
27:10of MLAs
27:11because of the
27:12administrator that he is?
27:15Well,
27:15it's not just
27:16administration,
27:17it's because,
27:18you know,
27:18he is the leader
27:19of the minorities,
27:20of the backward classes
27:21and of the Dalits.
27:23That's the reason
27:23why he commands
27:25the respect
27:26as well as
27:27the support
27:28of a majority
27:29of the 135
27:30Congress MLAs.
27:32And that was
27:32the reason
27:33why
27:33when there was
27:35power tussled
27:36at the beginning
27:40of when the Congress
27:42came back to power,
27:44it was Sidra Maya
27:45who made it through
27:46and not Shukumar.
27:48It was because
27:48of the strength.
27:49It was because
27:50he is the mass leader
27:52in Karnataka.
27:53He commands,
27:54you know,
27:54that sort of a support
27:55among the masses
27:57in the interstate.
27:58Which Shukumar doesn't.
28:00Shukumar's popularity
28:01or base
28:02is confined
28:03to a specific region
28:04and his support base
28:06among the MLAs
28:07is mainly
28:08from the vocal ligas.
28:09So that's
28:10sort of a narrow
28:11support base
28:12that Shukumar enjoys
28:13and that's the reason
28:14why
28:15Sidra Maya,
28:17you know,
28:18scores over Shukumar.
28:20That's one reason.
28:21And as far as
28:21administration
28:22is concerned,
28:23you know,
28:24recently
28:24the caste census
28:26took place
28:27in Karnataka
28:28and that was
28:29mainly because
28:29of the two reasons.
28:30One,
28:31Sidra Maya himself
28:32wanted it
28:33and number two,
28:34the Congress
28:34High Command,
28:35Ms. Rahul Gandhi
28:36in particular,
28:37pushed for it.
28:38So,
28:39it was the message
28:41that they sent
28:42that,
28:42you know,
28:43to the Ahida group,
28:46the minorities
28:47and Dalits
28:48that we are
28:49with you.
28:50So,
28:51because...
28:52The biggest setback
28:53really for the Congress
28:54if they upset
28:56Sidra Maya
28:56will be that
28:57particular vote bank
28:58and that's why
28:58it's a hard decision
28:59for them to take.
29:00There's a possibility
29:01though,
29:02that they are ensuring
29:03a truce between
29:03D.K. Shivkumar
29:04and Sidra Maya
29:04because they see
29:05this dragging on
29:06in the sense
29:07that they don't think
29:07a decision will be
29:08possible right now.
29:09Perhaps in March,
29:10once Sidra Maya
29:11manages that record
29:12of being the longest
29:12serving chief minister
29:13of Karnataka
29:14is when they will
29:15ensure that he has
29:16a graceful exit
29:17and bring in D.K. Shivkumar.
29:18That is one
29:19of the many possibilities.
29:20Thank you very much
29:21Mr. Arun and Mr. R.K. Upadia
29:22for your time
29:23for joining us here
29:24on India Today.
29:27Bengaluru
29:28is freezing
29:29and I'm not exaggerating.
29:31I was in the city
29:31over the weekend.
29:32The usual nip in the air
29:34that we're so used to
29:35is actually replaced
29:36by a cold, cold wind
29:38that swept
29:39through the city.
29:40And clearly
29:40it wasn't just me.
29:41There were endless posts
29:43and memes about this,
29:44sample a few,
29:45that even compared
29:46Bengaluru
29:47to London.
29:49But let's talk about
29:50why Bengaluru
29:52was so unusually cold.
29:53That's one of the memes
29:54that was put up there.
29:55It was a combination
29:56of factors really.
29:57Cyclone Ditwa,
29:59the impact of that,
30:00plus the usual
30:00cloudy mornings
30:01in Bengaluru
30:02coupled with light rainfall.
30:04All three of these
30:05meant that for
30:06OG Bengalurians
30:07it was a reminder
30:08of what Bangalore was like.
30:09Not Bengaluru
30:10with the crazy traffic,
30:12but the city
30:12that it once was.
30:14So is this weather
30:15going to continue?
30:16Is this what the city
30:17will be like
30:18in the coming days?
30:19Well, for now, yes.
30:20Later in the week
30:21it could become warmer
30:22as a cyclone impact
30:23disappears.
30:24But right now,
30:25Bengalurians,
30:26enjoy the cold air.
30:28Layer up
30:28when you step out.
30:29And speaking of Cyclone Ditwa
30:43and the impact it's had,
30:56let's take a look
30:57at what the situation
30:58is in parts of Chennai
30:59where there has been
31:00rainfall reported
31:01in the last 24 hours.
31:02Water logging
31:03in some parts of Chennai
31:04has been reported.
31:06But as a precautionary measure,
31:08holiday has been declared
31:09in Chennai schools
31:10and colleges tomorrow.
31:12That's because
31:12the Med Department
31:13has issued
31:13an alert for rain.
31:15This is because
31:16the outer cloud bands
31:18part of, in fact,
31:19that particular storm
31:20is coming further
31:22and further inland
31:22into Chennai,
31:24which means that
31:24there will be areas
31:25that could see
31:26heavy rainfall tomorrow.
31:28Pramod Madhiv
31:29is joining us
31:30live from Chennai
31:30with more details on this.
31:32Pramod, what's the situation
31:33currently in this city
31:34and what's the forecast
31:35for the next 24 hours?
31:36Certainly, Akshita,
31:41the Cyclone Ditwa
31:41has already wakened
31:42to a deep depression
31:43and it is actually
31:44very close to the coast
31:45of Chennai
31:45and that's what you could see
31:46that it's been rained
31:47since morning
31:48for this particular day.
31:49In fact, yesterday,
31:50the Cyclone Ditwa
31:51was supposed to
31:51cause more damage
31:52but it did not do so
31:53as it was travelling
31:54towards Puticherry.
31:56But however,
31:56as it reached Chennai,
31:58it had gathered
31:58more cloud bands,
31:59especially rain cloud bands
32:00and because of that,
32:01we have received
32:02a good amount of rainfall
32:03today,
32:04leading to this.
32:04Today, there was no holiday
32:05for any schools
32:06or colleges.
32:07However, considering
32:08that there are possibility
32:09for rain for tonight
32:10as well,
32:11holiday has been declared
32:12for Chennai,
32:13Chengalpatri
32:13and Tiruvallur districts
32:14for both schools
32:15and colleges
32:16over this.
32:17And NDRF
32:18and all other teams
32:19claim they are
32:20on eye alert and such.
32:21For Chennai,
32:22we saw localized flooding
32:23in some,
32:24I mean, localized
32:24water stagnation
32:25in certain areas.
32:26However,
32:26in the outskirts of Chennai
32:27like Tiruvallur
32:28and Abedi and such,
32:30water level,
32:31localized water stagnation
32:33was quite high
32:34and the officials
32:35claim that like pumps
32:37and other things
32:37have also been brought
32:38to make sure
32:39that the situation
32:40is kept under control,
32:41Akshita.
32:41All right.
32:42Pramod, stay safe.
32:43We will continue
32:43to track the updates
32:45that come in
32:45over the next 24 hours.
32:46There is a warning
32:47for heavy rain tomorrow.
32:49So Chennaiites,
32:50remember that as of now,
32:52schools, colleges
32:52in Chennai
32:53have been shot tomorrow.
32:54Let's now move on
32:59to a horrifying story
33:00coming in from Hyderabad.
33:02These are extremely
33:03disturbing images.
33:04We will advise
33:05viewer description,
33:06but it's important
33:06for us to put it out here
33:08of a four-year-old girl,
33:09a four-year-old,
33:11viewers,
33:11being slapped,
33:13stamped on
33:13and dragged
33:14by a 55-year-old nanny.
33:17This happened
33:18inside a school
33:18in Hyderabad.
33:20That's the footage
33:20right there.
33:21Why are we showing this?
33:22Because we see this happen
33:24far too often in India.
33:26That these untrained women,
33:28teachers, men, etc.
33:30claim to be nannies
33:31and then are given
33:32complete care
33:33of little toddlers
33:34having no training
33:36whatsoever
33:36until they physically
33:38abuse the child
33:39in a court doing so.
33:40This woman, police say,
33:42held a grudge
33:43against a child's mother,
33:44took it out
33:44on that little child
33:46till she saw the camera
33:47and then she stopped.
33:49This incident
33:49sparked outrage,
33:51raised serious questions
33:52about school safety,
33:53about accountability
33:54and the kind of checks
33:55that are actually done
33:56for these teachers
33:57and nannies
33:58who so closely interact
34:00with little children
34:01who are given
34:01complete care of them.
34:03They accused
34:03that woman
34:04has been taken
34:05into custody.
34:06Shocking case
34:16of child assault
34:17inside the Hyderabad school.
34:19A four-year nursery student
34:20brutally assaulted.
34:22The incident took place
34:23on the premises
34:24of Purnima School
34:25in Jidhimetla.
34:27The accused
34:28of 55-year-old
34:29Aya Lakshmi
34:30is seen on video
34:31slapping,
34:32stamping
34:32and dragging the child.
34:34She stops
34:36only when she realises
34:38someone is recording.
34:40The police say
34:41Lakshmi held a grudge
34:42against the child's mother
34:43who also works
34:44at the school.
34:46An FIR
34:46has been filed.
34:50Lakshmi has been arrested
34:51under multiple sections
34:52of the Juvenile Justice Act
34:54and the Bharatiya Niaya
34:55Sanhita.
34:56There are laws,
34:59there are guidelines,
35:01there are set of norms
35:02and every state
35:04has to implement it.
35:06In this particular incident,
35:08there is a need
35:09to lodge an FIR
35:10under Section 75
35:11of the Juvenile Justice Act
35:13which is much required here.
35:18If we want to
35:19proper implementation law,
35:23a deterrence
35:23needs to be created
35:24and in such kind
35:26of incidents,
35:28one should not tolerate
35:30and not FIR
35:31in take proper action
35:32against the school.
35:34The Hyderabad incident
35:35is not an isolated case.
35:38Just weeks ago
35:38in Noida,
35:39another chilling video
35:40emerged from
35:41a residential complex
35:42daycare.
35:44A 15-month-old girl
35:45slapped,
35:46dropped on the floor,
35:48hit with a plastic bat,
35:49even a pencil
35:50shoved into her mouth.
35:51The accused
35:53a 16-year-old
35:54attendant
35:55was arrested.
35:57Two horrifying videos,
36:00one big question,
36:01who is regulating
36:02the schools,
36:03daycares
36:04and preschools
36:05mushrooming across India?
36:08Bira Report,
36:09India Today.
36:13Actor Ranveer Singh
36:14recently at an event
36:15mocked the
36:16bhuta kola ritual
36:17shown in
36:18the film
36:19Kantara.
36:19Maybe it came
36:20from a good place
36:21of wanting to
36:22praise actor
36:23Rishabh Shetty.
36:24But Ranveer Singh's
36:26mockery of a practice
36:27that's actually
36:27revered by lax
36:28was just honestly
36:29embarrassing to see.
36:30First,
36:31he calls the deity,
36:32the deity
36:33a female ghost.
36:34Then he contorts
36:35his eyes,
36:36sticks his tongue out
36:37and screams,
36:38clearly mocking
36:39what Rishabh Shetty
36:40had done in the film.
36:41Take a look at
36:41what Ranveer had done.
36:45What shot that he gave?
36:47That one.
36:49Just plain disrespectful.
37:00The spiritual
37:00and cultural traditions
37:02depicted in Kantara,
37:03the daiva ritual,
37:04the idea of possession,
37:06the reverence
37:06for ancestral guardian
37:07spirits,
37:09it belongs to
37:09real communities.
37:10These are not
37:11fictional monsters,
37:13ghosts,
37:14cinematic set pieces
37:15to be caricatured
37:16for laughs.
37:17And so when someone
37:18like Ranveer Singh,
37:19a high-profile actor,
37:20calls the daiva
37:21a ghost,
37:22performs it comically,
37:24it strips away reverence
37:25and reduces sacred belief
37:27to a joke.
37:27You can see Rishabh Shetty
37:28laughing,
37:29but previously
37:29he tried to stop him
37:30from doing that.
37:32But Ranveer Singh,
37:33if the goal was
37:33to honour the film,
37:35clearly that's
37:35failed miserably
37:36because the only takeaway
37:37from that tribute
37:38is insult.
37:39Let's be clear,
37:40this is insult
37:41to so many
37:42in Tulumadu
37:43who believe
37:44in the daiva
37:44and in Bhuta Kola.
37:46Again,
37:47this isn't a fictional film
37:48for Ranveer
37:49to be making
37:49exaggerated faces
37:51and to call a daiva
37:52a ghost.
38:05Ranveer Singh
38:06has found himself
38:07at the centre
38:07of a heated
38:08social media storm.
38:09following his appearance
38:11at the closing ceremony
38:12of the International
38:13Thurn Festival of India
38:14in Goa.
38:26Although he received
38:27applause for his
38:28energetic tribute
38:28to Kalaiva Rajnikanth.
38:30The presence of
38:30the great man himself,
38:32the biggest superstar
38:33of all time.
38:34It's an honour
38:34to simply be
38:35in your presence, sir.
38:40The actor
38:41simultaneously
38:42drew criticism
38:43for his comments
38:44on Kantara.
38:46I saw that
38:47in the theatres,
38:48Rishabh.
38:48It was an outstanding
38:50performance,
38:51especially when
38:51the female ghosts
38:52get inside your body.
38:55That performance...
38:56And his onstage
38:57imitation
38:57of a character
38:58from the film
38:59just weeks ahead
39:00of the release
39:01of his upcoming
39:01action thriller,
39:03Durandar.
39:03Anybody here
39:04want to see me
39:05in Kantara 3?
39:07Tell this guy!
39:08Tell him!
39:09Tell him!
39:10The event
39:11was attended
39:12by Kantara
39:12director-actor
39:13Rishabh Shetty,
39:14whom Ranveer
39:15warmly acknowledged
39:16onstage.
39:17Praising the
39:18franchisee,
39:18he referred to
39:19Shetty's portrayal
39:20in Kantara
39:21Chapter 1
39:21and described
39:22the character
39:23of John D.
39:23Gulliga Daiva's
39:24sister as a
39:25female ghost.
39:26It was an outstanding
39:27performance,
39:28especially when
39:29the female ghosts
39:29get inside your body.
39:32That performance,
39:33that one shot.
39:34He then mimicked
39:35the character,
39:36crossing his eyes,
39:37sticking out his tongue
39:37and delivering
39:38his trademark
39:39Primordial Scream.
39:47The act also left
39:49Rishabh Shetty
39:49laughing in the moment.
39:51I saw that
39:52in the theatres,
39:53Rishabh.
39:53It was an outstanding
39:54performance,
39:55especially when
39:56the female ghosts
39:57get inside your body.
40:00That performance,
40:01that one shot.
40:03Did you see
40:03Kantara, sir?
40:05You saw it?
40:06What shot
40:06that he gave?
40:07That one.
40:16Anybody here
40:17want to see
40:17me in Kantara 3?
40:20Tell this guy!
40:21Tell him!
40:22Tell him!
40:23While the audience
40:23at the venue
40:24responded with amusement,
40:25the clip quickly
40:26went viral online,
40:27sparking intense criticism.
40:29Get inside your body,
40:32that performance,
40:33that one shot.
40:35Did you see
40:36Kantara, sir?
40:37You saw it?
40:38What shot
40:38that he gave?
40:40That one.
40:40many viewers
40:49felt that
40:50Ranveer's portrayal
40:51was insensitive,
40:52arguing that
40:53the description
40:53of daivas
40:54holds deep cultural
40:55and spiritual significance
40:57in Tulunad traditions.
40:59Within minutes,
41:00reactions began
41:01pouring in on X,
41:02with several users
41:03expressing anger
41:04and disappointment
41:05over the actor's behaviour.
41:13As the debate
41:14grows louder
41:15and conversations
41:16around cultural
41:17sensitivity continue,
41:19both Ranveer Singh
41:20and Vishap Shetty
41:20have yet to issue
41:21a public response
41:22to the controversy.
41:24Especially when
41:24the female ghosts
41:25get inside your body,
41:28that performance,
41:29that one shot.
41:31Did you see
41:32Kantara, sir?
41:32Entertainment Bureau,
41:33India Today.
41:34What shot that he gave?
41:36That one.
41:44And there,
41:45he refers to
41:46a goddess,
41:47someone who
41:48lacks of people worship
41:49as a ghost.
41:51Lots of demands
41:52for Ranveer Singh
41:53to apologise.
41:54Alright,
41:55before I wrap up
41:56this edition
41:56of Super 6,
41:57I'm leaving you
41:58with pictures
41:59of Samantha Rudh Prabhu's
42:00wedding to Raj Nidimuru.
42:02And there are pictures
42:03which have gone viral.
42:04The couple tied the knot
42:05in a ceremony
42:07at the Isha Yoga Centre
42:08in Koenbatora
42:09away from the spotlight.
42:11Samantha was seen
42:12wearing a beautiful
42:13red saree
42:14with her now husband,
42:15Raj,
42:16in some of these pictures
42:17that she's shared
42:18on social media.
42:19I'm leaving you
42:19with this report.
42:22If love truly prefers
42:44quiet corners
42:45over glittering stages,
42:46then Samantha Rudh Prabhu
42:47and filmmaker
42:48Raj Nidimuru
42:49have just given the world
42:51its most tender proof.
42:53No fanfare,
42:54no orchestrated photo shoots,
42:56just two hearts
42:57choosing each other
42:58in silence
42:58after years of
43:00weathering private storms
43:01beneath the public eye.
43:02What began as whispers
43:07of a blossoming romance
43:09has now bloomed
43:09into a confirmed union.
43:11Soft, real
43:12and deeply personal.
43:14The duo tied the knot
43:16in an intimate ceremony
43:17that felt more spiritual
43:18than ceremonial.
43:19The wedding took place
43:20early in the morning
43:21at the Lingabairavi temple
43:22inside the Isha Yoga Centre.
43:25Samantha wore
43:26a simple red saree,
43:27traditional,
43:28understated
43:29and quietly stunning.
43:32Their love story
43:36too unfolded gently,
43:38where rumours
43:38first surfaced
43:39in early 2024
43:40when the two
43:41were spotted together,
43:43always discreet
43:44and grounded.
43:45From subtle
43:45red carpet appearances
43:47to a trip to America
43:48and even Samantha
43:49spending time
43:50with Raj's sister,
43:51the signs were there,
43:52though their romance
43:53remained protected
43:54and unspoken.
43:54Our intel suggests
43:57there's an unexpected
43:58coalition.
44:00Many believe
44:00their connection
44:01deepened after
44:02The Family Man Season 2,
44:03where Samantha delivered
44:04one of her strongest
44:05performances
44:06under Raj and DK's
44:07direction.
44:08And what began
44:15as creative admiration
44:17gradually evolved
44:18into a deeper bond.
44:23Samantha's past
44:24included a much
44:25publicised separation
44:26from Naga Chaitanya
44:27in 2021,
44:28a chapter lived
44:29under relentless scrutiny.
44:31Their four-year marriage
44:32ended amid
44:32intense media attention,
44:34turning their personal
44:35heartbreak
44:35into endless fodder
44:36for speculation.
44:38Naga Chaitanya
44:39has since moved on
44:40and is now married
44:41to actress
44:41Shobita Dulipalia.
44:44And now,
44:45in a serene,
44:46temple at dawn
44:46surrounded only
44:47by love and silence,
44:49she's chosen
44:49companionship again
44:50quietly,
44:51gracefully
44:52and entirely
44:52on her own terms.
