00:00Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today. I'm Akshita Anandakopal.
00:04Hope all of you had a wonderful, lovely Diwali.
00:07And let's also get you over the next one hour. All the news that you've missed out on.
00:12Of course, the flavor of the season is elections because the Bihar election is coming up.
00:16So what's coming up on this edition of Super 6? Here's a glimpse.
00:20We'll be beginning with the big political showdown from Bihar to Karnataka.
00:24What's the link?
00:25Well, the BJP is alleging that the Congress is funding the election campaign in Bihar using funds from Karnataka.
00:33The BJP has leveled this big charge that there's an attempt by cabinet ministers to actually push bureaucrats to ensure more money is coming in
00:40because they've all been given a certain quota, a certain number to go ahead and achieve and hand over that money.
00:47The Congress has rubbished this particular charge.
00:49But we're going to be focusing on that big political battle that's now, as I said, moved from Bihar all the way to Karnataka.
00:56Also coming up on the show at 6.30 this evening, we're going to be getting you a live report from the city of Chennai,
01:03where an alert has been sounded by the Met Department for heavy rain for the entire week.
01:08And it's not just Chennai, but coastal parts of Tamil Nadu are going to be bracing themselves for extremely heavy rainfall
01:16as a low-pressure area is making its way into Tamil Nadu.
01:20We'll get you a live report on what to expect for all of you Chennaiites joining us on this broadcast.
01:26I'm Akshita Nanda Gopal.
01:27Let's begin with a look at the top 10 stories of the day.
01:30With less than three weeks to go for the Bihar elections, cracks are widening within the Mahagat Bandhan.
01:38The Congress and RGD are at odds over 12 key seats, while speculation grows over Nathish Kumar's post-poll plans.
01:47Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished the nation on Dipavali marking the second festival
01:52since the Grand Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya.
01:56So, in this letter, he has invoked Lord Ram's teachings, noting that Operation Sindhu reflected the same courage and valour.
02:07The BJP is alleged that Chief Minister Sidramaya's ministers are collecting funds from government officials
02:12to finance Bihar elections, claiming each minister has been given a target to go ahead and achieve.
02:19The Congress has dismissed the accusations as baseless, calling them mere shoot and scoot.
02:26And here's an interesting one.
02:28Biocon Chief Kiram Azumdar Shaw criticised Bengaluru's potholes and garbage a few days ago,
02:33calling for urgent action.
02:35At that point, you have the Karnataka government dismissing it as a conspiracy to tarnish the image of Bengaluru.
02:41Today, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shiv Kumar met with Shaw,
02:44discussing infrastructure, public amenities and the city's growth.
02:47She also met with the Karnataka Chief Minister.
02:50Meanwhile, Karnataka CM Sidramaya's economic advisor, Baswaraj Raya Reddy,
02:55has alleged a powerful nexus between the Sand Mafia and state officials,
02:59according to him, bleeding the state of over 400 crores in royalty revenue.
03:03Delhi's AQI has plunged to the very poor category as Azad's smog blanket shrouded the capital city this morning.
03:14And this, despite grab-toe implementation, the political blame game is intensifying,
03:18BJP accusing Arp of ignoring pollution for years.
03:21BJP workers led by Rajasabha MP Medha Kulkarni protested and performed a purification ritual
03:30at the Shanivarwada in Pune after burka-clad women were seen offering namaz on its premises.
03:36Opposition parties condemned the move, calling it an attack on the country's secular fabric.
03:40A case of abetment to suicide has been registered against CEO Bhavisha Agarwal,
03:49against the senior officer of Ola and the company in the suspicious death of an engineer.
03:56Ola, however, was denied the allegation, stating the engineer never raised any complaints.
04:00A stark hypocrisy in Iran's hijab policy implementation on your screens,
04:08with a top aide's daughter hosting a lavish Western-style wedding,
04:12while Iranian women continue to face jail for dress code violations.
04:18And Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Patnaik says he's under protection in Canada
04:23and questions why, highlighting perceived threats to Indians abroad, particularly in Canada.
04:30All right, let's get to our top story this evening.
04:35We're weeks away from the big Bihar battle, the Mahadangal,
04:39and the Karnataka BJP's levelled a big, big allegation,
04:42claiming that Congress ruled Karnataka is funding the Congress's campaign in Bihar.
04:48Here's what the BJP is saying.
04:50This is, in fact, B.Y. Raghavendra Yadirapasun,
04:53who's alleging that state ministers have been given a certain target, a quota,
04:57and they've been pressuring officials and bureaucrats to meet that target,
05:01because that's money that cabinet ministers have to hand over to the Congress to pump into Bihar.
05:07This is an allegation that the BJP has put forth.
05:09But mind you, there's no proof that's been published by the BJP to back any of these claims,
05:15which is what the Congress is highlighting,
05:16saying, where's the evidence to back any of these charges being levelled against us?
05:21We'll run you through all of the reactions coming in first in our report,
05:23and then we'll be joined by our political panel.
05:32As poll-bound Bihar gets ready for the Mahadangal,
05:35the Congress government in Karnataka faces fresh accusations of a new scam from the BJP.
05:42BJP claims Congress ministers are pressuring bureaucrats to collect funds
05:46and are effectively turning the state into an ATM for Bihar polls.
05:50The BJP has alleged that every minister has been given a target now to raise money,
05:56making fundraising for Bihar elections their main focus.
05:59The Congress has denied these allegations,
06:19calling it student-school strategy by the BJP
06:22and challenging the party to produce proof backing their claims.
06:25The Congress has also released off-BSE at Europa,
06:29in which they allege there was a conversation about money being collected to fund an election.
06:35I think Vijayendra and Raghavendra,
06:39all of them were in a practice of doing it.
06:43So I think to just make a statement, some hit and run.
06:47Where is the evidence?
06:48If he has any evidence, let him show it.
06:51Nothing is connected to it.
06:52They are afraid of our Congress party.
06:55India bloc will come back to power.
06:57With both parties gearing up for the state of war in Bihar,
07:01Karnataka finds itself caught in the crossfire of election battles beyond its borders.
07:06With Sagaraj in Bengaluru, Puru Report, India Today.
07:11Okay, let me bring in Sagaraj, who's joining us live from Bengaluru,
07:15with a quick update on this.
07:16Sagaraj, it's not the first time that these kind of allegations have been, you know, leveled.
07:21I remember during the Telangana election campaign too,
07:24there were allegations that time by the BRS
07:26that the Congress was using funds from Karnataka to fund the Telangana campaigns.
07:31It's not the first time the Congress has faced these kind of charges.
07:35Absolutely, and if you see, during the Telangana election,
07:38there was also ED rage, which was created Bellari.
07:41And at that point of time, they have also founded the network of money
07:45which has been transferred to a few people in Telangana.
07:48And even Enforcement Directorate had arrested Minister Nagyendra in connection with that.
07:53And when it comes to Bihar election,
07:55many of them are alleging that they were trying to use one of the emeliers,
07:59who is known as Poppy, who owns casinos in Goa.
08:04And there are allegations from the BJP stating that
08:07they are trying to root the money through him,
08:10selling the gold or transferring the gold from Bengaluru to Bihar.
08:14Whereas the Congress government has said that
08:16rather than making all these allegations without any proof,
08:19give the documents.
08:20You cannot just hit and scoot from these particular allegations that they are making.
08:26And they claim that if you have any documents,
08:28you can go ahead and produce to your higher authorities,
08:31including Prime Minister Modi, ERI, CBI, anything agencies that you have,
08:35and go ahead and conduct an investigation
08:36rather than making these kind of baseless allegations against the government.
08:40All right, Sagai, thanks very much for joining us with those details.
08:44Let's open this up.
08:45Joining us here on this broadcast is Surabhi Hodigeri,
08:48spokesperson of the Karnataka BJP.
08:50We also have Shatabhi Shivanna,
08:52spokesperson of the Karnataka Congress.
08:54Namaskara.
08:55Thank you both very much for your time.
08:57Happy Deepavali, first of all.
08:58So thank you for joining us, despite it being a rather festive day.
09:02But let's get right down to it.
09:03Surabhi, to you first.
09:05The question that's constantly asked is,
09:06where's the evidence?
09:07You're levelling very, very serious charges.
09:09Where's the proof?
09:11Well, you know, Akshita,
09:13when the allegations comes from the other side at a national level,
09:16with something with respect to the ECI,
09:18and we ask the same question,
09:19it gets, you know, completely muffled out.
09:22In this case, there's circumstantial evidence for sure,
09:25and that's right in front of the public.
09:27Because when the Telangana elections happened,
09:29when the Walmi Ki Nigam scam happened,
09:31the link was established,
09:33not just for the Telangana elections,
09:34but also for Baldari elections.
09:36Having said that,
09:37this is the same government
09:38whose economic advisor today has come out
09:41and said that there's a 400 crore sand mining scam
09:45that's been going on
09:46and causing 400 crore loss to the exchequer in Karnataka.
09:49It's the same government whose MLAs,
09:51whose contractors have also come out
09:53and said that we have a significant amount of unpaid dues,
09:56not just,
09:57and let me remind you,
09:58this is the same Congress government
09:59that came into power
10:00to hit and running the 40% scam,
10:03which has gone fallen flat.
10:05That same contractors association
10:06has said that the corruption has doubled
10:08under the Congress government
10:09as per their claim.
10:11Where is the, you know,
10:12these are all the circumstantial evidence
10:14that are in play.
10:15And with respect to Papi,
10:16that you mentioned,
10:17you mentioned the report on,
10:19150 kgs of gold,
10:21is that a joke in any way?
10:23Corruption is rising in this state
10:24and it's a fair question to ask.
10:26Where is all of the money going?
10:28The fact that administrators,
10:30bureaucrats are saying
10:31that we are being extorted,
10:33ministers being given targets,
10:35the onus to come up with evidence
10:37is not on us.
10:38As the opposition party
10:40to bring light to the issues
10:41is on us.
10:42I'll put forth your question
10:43on corruption to Shivanna,
10:45but before that,
10:45Surabhi, I come back.
10:46You know,
10:46if you're leveling an allegation,
10:48there must be proof.
10:49The onus very much is on you
10:51to also establish
10:52what you're alleging here.
10:54I mean, Akshita,
10:55if the circumstantial evidence
10:57points towards
10:57a whole bunch of things,
10:59it is not for us
11:00to come up with
11:01and show photographs
11:02of money being taken
11:04from one place.
11:05No, because right now
11:05it seems like hearsay.
11:07Right now it seems like hearsay.
11:09Within the Congress,
11:10it shows very clearly
11:11that the Congress
11:12has something to hide.
11:14Whether the proof
11:15comes out or not
11:16is for investigative agencies
11:18who are, by the way,
11:19doing a job.
11:20And once that happens,
11:22once the ED comes into play,
11:23CBI comes into play,
11:24what is the Congress'
11:25first line of defense?
11:27Is that we are being targeted.
11:28It is our right
11:29as the opposition
11:30to bring forth
11:31these issues
11:31and to make it clear
11:33to the public,
11:33look, our money
11:34is being looted
11:35for so and so reason.
11:37Okay.
11:37Shivana...
11:38Why does the Congress
11:38get so triggered?
11:39All they have to do is...
11:40Shivana, your opening comments,
11:43you've heard there
11:43from the BJP spokesperson.
11:45She's listed out
11:46allegations of corruption
11:48against the Sidramaya government
11:49and said,
11:50why can't we ask
11:51these questions?
11:53Now, my advice
11:54to the Bharatya Janata Party
11:56is, first decide your story.
11:58Is Karnataka broke
11:59or is it an ATM?
12:01In one breath,
12:02the BJP says
12:03the Congress
12:03has bankrupted
12:04the state's treasury
12:05with all our welfare schemes.
12:07And in the same breath,
12:08they say Karnataka
12:09is funding the Bihar elections.
12:10You can't be bankrupt
12:12and an ATM
12:13at the same time
12:14unless you're auditioning
12:15for a comedy show.
12:17Now, let's get serious.
12:18If the money
12:18is really being sent to Bihar,
12:20how?
12:21By way of
12:22Aladdin's magic carpet
12:23or is it being
12:24wire transferred?
12:25Because we are talking
12:26about tangible cash.
12:28You control
12:28the income tax department,
12:30you control
12:30the enforcement directorate,
12:32you control
12:32the Central Bureau
12:33of Investigation.
12:34Use them,
12:35conduct raids,
12:36collect evidence,
12:37don't fire empty bullets
12:38in thin air.
12:39If the money
12:39is flying out,
12:41then give us
12:42the flight number.
12:43Stop whining
12:43and start investigating.
12:45And now,
12:45since we are in the business
12:47of leveling
12:47baseless allegations,
12:49let me put mine on record.
12:50The governments
12:51of Maharashtra,
12:52Uttar Pradesh
12:53and Madhya Pradesh
12:54are funding
12:55the Bihar elections
12:56for the BJP.
12:57And if you talk about
12:58the biggest misuse
13:01of public money,
13:02the union government
13:03is footing the bill
13:04for Mr. Modi's
13:05political roadshows.
13:072,000 crores
13:08for his travel,
13:095,000 crores
13:11for other advertisements,
13:13600 crores
13:14for his SPG security.
13:15All this is
13:16taxpayer's money
13:17that is conveniently
13:18being synced
13:19during the BJP's
13:20election calendar.
13:22So,
13:22please stop
13:22sermonizing us
13:24about morality
13:25if the Bharatiya
13:26junta
13:27wants to debate
13:28elections.
13:29Let's talk about
13:29unemployment.
13:30Let's talk about
13:31price rise.
13:32Let's talk about
13:33governance,
13:34not WhatsApp
13:35fantasies.
13:36Surabhi,
13:37your response.
13:37If we're going
13:38to be linking
13:39states ruled
13:41by certain parties
13:42to an upcoming
13:43election state,
13:44then the list
13:45will be endless
13:46on both sides.
13:47The Prime Minister's
13:48official work
13:49is not to be related
13:50to any election
13:51related activities.
13:52Please also
13:52visiting other states.
13:53Please do not
13:54try to demean
13:54the office
13:55of the Prime Minister.
13:55One,
13:56you want to talk
13:56about price rise?
13:57Karnataka offers
13:58multiple examples.
13:59One price hike
14:01after the other
14:01that's burdening
14:02the people here
14:02in Karnataka.
14:03On the initial argument
14:04that you thought
14:05was incredibly funny,
14:06if the government
14:07is going in a
14:08revenue deficit
14:10right now
14:10and corruption
14:11is going hand in hand,
14:12then you can add
14:132 plus 2
14:14and tell me
14:14where the money
14:15is going.
14:15Especially when
14:16the Walmiki Nigam
14:17scam happened
14:18and you scammed
14:18people from the
14:19most marginalized
14:20of communities
14:21and the ED
14:22established a link.
14:23Let me finish.
14:24Let me finish.
14:25Hold on.
14:25Hold on.
14:25Please let me finish.
14:28The ED
14:28established a link
14:30that Lamborghinis
14:31were bought,
14:32an auto dealer
14:32was used,
14:33fake accounts
14:34were created
14:35in Hyderabad
14:36during the
14:36Telangana election
14:38and if you are
14:39going to tell me
14:40that that is,
14:40you know,
14:41give us proof,
14:41investigate,
14:42the investigative
14:43agencies will
14:44do their job.
14:45When they do
14:45their job,
14:46like they have
14:47with the
14:47puppy case,
14:48please accept
14:49that your party
14:50is incredibly corrupt
14:51and using Karnataka
14:52as a APM.
14:52Let's refer
14:53to what you are
14:54speaking of,
14:55to that one
14:55particular point,
14:56Shivanna.
14:57What's your response?
14:58That this is
14:58allegations that have
15:00been leveled before
15:01which the ED
15:02has also investigated?
15:04No,
15:05insofar as the
15:06Walmiki thing
15:07is concerned,
15:07100% of the money
15:09was recovered.
15:10Their allegation
15:10was that we used
15:11it for Andhra
15:12or Telangana's
15:13election.
15:13How can the money
15:14be recovered
15:15if we have
15:15already used it?
15:16And insofar as
15:17puppy is concerned,
15:18the Honorable MLA,
15:19it is his individual
15:20money that is being
15:21investigated,
15:22not money of the
15:23state government.
15:24Now,
15:24let me make it
15:25absolutely clear,
15:26Karnataka,
15:27madam,
15:27is not your ATM.
15:28It is India's
15:29growth engine.
15:30And every rupee
15:31spent is spent
15:32for its people,
15:33not your propaganda.
15:34And we all
15:35saw the video
15:35of Mr. Yadurapa
15:37and Anant Kumar
15:37discussing how
15:38much was paid,
15:39to who it was
15:40paid.
15:40Maybe that's why
15:41the BJP thinks
15:42that every government
15:43operates in this way.
15:45Sorry to disappoint
15:45you, Surabhi,
15:46but we don't do
15:47cash and carry
15:47politics.
15:48Don't project
15:49your past sins
15:50onto a government
15:51that's actually
15:52delivering and
15:53not laundering.
15:54Surabhi,
15:54your quick response
15:55to...
15:56Let me remind you,
15:57you want to bring
15:57in the...
15:58Let me also say
15:59that the real idea
16:00is a Israeli
16:01industry.
16:02You have brought
16:03a video...
16:04No, you've raised
16:04issues,
16:05I'll give you a chance
16:06to come back.
16:07I'll give you a chance.
16:08One at a time.
16:08Have Surabhi your response.
16:09Officers,
16:10water man,
16:11you know,
16:12dying by suicide
16:13day to day.
16:14Your government
16:15has the breath
16:16and wit to talk
16:17about anything
16:18other than what
16:18is exactly happening
16:19in their backyard.
16:20Priyan Kargay's tweet
16:21on the conversation
16:22between...
16:23No, let's...
16:24One second,
16:25let me clarify.
16:26Was a diary
16:27of a Congress
16:28Chief Minister.
16:29They were talking
16:30about corruption
16:31of a Congress
16:31Chief Minister
16:32with initials
16:33scribbled out.
16:34There's a clarification
16:35tweet that's put out.
16:36I don't know
16:36if you were active
16:37in the same time,
16:38but I was
16:39and I remember
16:39this diary very well.
16:40The conversation
16:41was about a Congress
16:42Chief Minister.
16:43Please do not try
16:44to distract
16:45people's attention
16:46just as you have
16:47in the last couple
16:47of weeks and days.
16:49Your own
16:49economic advisor,
16:51Mr. Basavraj
16:52Raya Reddy,
16:53has come out
16:54today and said
16:55there is a 400
16:56crore loss
16:57to revenue
16:58because of the
16:59sand mafia.
17:00Your own
17:01Deputy Chief Minister
17:02has come out
17:02and said he is
17:03unable to control
17:03the garbage mafia.
17:05Your own
17:05party MLAs
17:06are alleging
17:07there is a
17:07housing scam.
17:09Your own
17:09contractors under
17:10this government
17:11are seeing that
17:11contracts are not
17:12being paid off.
17:14These are the
17:14allegations and
17:15suicide.
17:16Please let me
17:17remind you because
17:17public attention
17:18has not been
17:19drawn towards this
17:19as much.
17:20a waterman,
17:21a poor waterman
17:22has been
17:22You have given
17:23a long list.
17:24Surbhi, you have
17:25given a long list.
17:26Give Shivanna
17:26a chance to
17:27respond to each
17:27one of those.
17:28All of this is
17:28happening.
17:29Let us try to
17:30solve the issue.
17:32Okay, Surbhi,
17:32hold on now.
17:33Let Shivanna
17:33respond to each
17:34one of those
17:35points that you
17:35have mentioned.
17:36See, we are,
17:38Surbhi has spoken
17:39about everything
17:39apart from the
17:40real issue.
17:41Now, if you are
17:42saying we are
17:42sending money to
17:43Bihar, give us
17:44some evidence.
17:45We have evidence
17:46of Sri B.S.
17:46Yadurappa and
17:47Anant Kumar
17:47Hedde saying
17:48No, she's
17:49clarified.
17:50She's clarified
17:50on that.
17:50Shivanna, she's
17:51spoken on that.
17:52Thank you, BJP
17:53high command.
17:53We are not
17:54going to discuss
17:54that.
17:55At least give us
17:55a video.
17:56Video that some
17:57money is being
17:58sent to Bihar.
17:59But the real
17:59ATM is the
18:00union treasury.
18:01Every Modi
18:02rally, every
18:03billboard, every
18:04helicopter, right,
18:05is funded by
18:06our taxes, not
18:07by BJP's
18:08donations.
18:09How can
18:09PM Modi's
18:10political road
18:11shows conveniently
18:12No, but what
18:13do you want?
18:13Shivanna, come on.
18:13Do you want the
18:14prime minister not to
18:15campaign in Bihar
18:16without SPG
18:16cover?
18:17Let him campaign
18:18but not his
18:20political rallies
18:21must be distinct
18:22from official
18:24government programs.
18:25How?
18:25Please tell us how.
18:27There is a report
18:27that indicates
18:29that the BJP
18:29and the union
18:30government
18:30Has that been
18:31followed in
18:32previous governments?
18:33Has that been
18:33followed in
18:34previous governments?
18:35No, no.
18:36Shivanna, come on.
18:36That's not been
18:37followed in
18:37previous governments
18:38either.
18:39Official protocol
18:39for the prime
18:40minister's travel
18:41is something that's
18:41covered by the
18:42PMO.
18:43Madam, that is
18:43what?
18:44If you are doing
18:44a political road
18:45show, that is
18:46completely different.
18:47If you are doing
18:47a government
18:48program, that is
18:49completely different.
18:50Now, Bihar election
18:51has been announced.
18:52Prime Minister Modi
18:53will conduct union
18:54government programs
18:55at least 10 times.
18:57And in these
18:57programs, he will
18:58give election
18:59speeches.
19:00Now, isn't this
19:01using and abusing
19:02Now, if you are
19:03telling me...
19:03No, Shivanna, come on.
19:04Shivanna, let's
19:05focus on Karnataka.
19:07Let's focus on
19:07Karnataka and Bihar.
19:08Because if you are
19:09going to suggest to me
19:09that previous prime
19:10ministers didn't do
19:11this, then I'd
19:12buy this argument.
19:13If at all, if at
19:14all, they did.
19:15If at all, they did.
19:16That doesn't give
19:17them a leeway for
19:18the present
19:19government to do
19:19so.
19:20Once again, once
19:21again, it's very
19:22convenient to attack
19:24the prime minister on
19:24absolutely anything
19:25because you don't
19:26have any real
19:27substance to attack
19:28him with.
19:28Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka
19:30Wadra, her children,
19:31her husband, everybody
19:32is owed SPG
19:34protection.
19:35But when the prime
19:35minister of this
19:36country...
19:37It's not about
19:38SPG protection.
19:39Why did you spend
19:395,000 crores on
19:41government ads?
19:42Please tell me.
19:44Why did you spend
19:455,000 crores on
19:46government ads?
19:46I'd like to bring it
19:47back to what's
19:49happening in
19:49Karnataka because
19:50I'm running out of
19:51time.
19:51Surubh, Shivanna...
19:52I will bring a
19:55pointed question.
19:55Surubh, to you, a
19:56pointed question because
19:57I don't want to go
19:58into who's funding
20:00the prime minister's
20:01campaign, who's
20:01funding Rahul
20:02Priyanka's campaign
20:02because then we're
20:03going about in
20:04circles.
20:04Focusing again on
20:05what's happening in
20:06Karnataka.
20:06What Shivanna has
20:08highlighted here is
20:09that, look, this
20:09leaves space for the
20:10Congress to come out
20:11and say, oh, it's
20:12the UP government
20:13that's funding the
20:13BGP campaign in
20:14Bihar.
20:15Oh, it's the
20:15Maharashtra government
20:16that's going ahead and
20:17funding the election
20:18campaign in Bihar.
20:19What stops them from
20:20leveling these
20:20allegations without
20:21any proof?
20:22Well, they have in
20:23the past.
20:24The entire vote
20:25chori campaign has
20:25been mere allegation
20:26against one of the
20:27treasured institutions
20:28of our country.
20:29But that's not the
20:29point here.
20:30The point is there
20:30is circumstantial
20:31evidence pointing
20:32towards the fact
20:33that Congress in
20:34Karnataka...
20:34May I please
20:35complete...
20:35And this is an
20:38MP who has come
20:38out from the BJP
20:39and shared a
20:40personal anecdote
20:41that he's had to
20:41encounter.
20:43And it's not just
20:44coming from the BJP,
20:45it's coming from
20:45the Congress.
20:47It is the Congress
20:47MLEs who have
20:48alleged corruption
20:49within the state.
20:50It is the Congress
20:51administration...
20:51Corruption within
20:52the state, yes,
20:53Surabhi, but what's
20:54the link to Bihar?
20:55What's the link to
20:56Bihar?
20:56Where's the link to
20:57Bihar?
20:57Akshita, Akshita,
20:58I come back again
21:00to the Walmi Ki
21:01Nigam Mandali
21:02scam.
21:03Did it happen or
21:04not during the
21:04Telangana election?
21:06Was there not a
21:07link?
21:07Is there money
21:08from Karnataka
21:10to Telangana?
21:11Was there...
21:12For Lamborghini's...
21:13Shivanna has
21:14responded to that
21:15saying 100%
21:16accountants...
21:17And at the same
21:17time they say...
21:18Those were the...
21:19These are the same
21:20doubts that are
21:21in the...
21:21Shivanna, I've
21:22mentioned your
21:22point.
21:23Shivanna, hold on.
21:24I've mentioned
21:25your point.
21:25Surabhi, Shivanna's
21:26highlighted that
21:27you know, the
21:28point that you've
21:29made, 100%
21:30accounted for money,
21:31he says.
21:32No, no, no.
21:32Hang on.
21:33It is a scam
21:34that we know
21:35happened.
21:36It is misappropriated
21:37money that happened.
21:38What is this?
21:38This is like the
21:39Muda scam all
21:40together again.
21:41Yeah, just like
21:41the Muda scam
21:42where in all the
21:43courts have
21:44incongrupled
21:45the online
21:45Okay, quickly.
21:46Shivanna, your
21:46response and
21:47then I have to
21:47wrap this up.
21:48Shivanna, your
21:48response quickly.
21:49Actually, I just
21:51want to say this.
21:52If Surabhi is
21:52going to rely on
21:54personal anecdotes
21:55as evidence...
21:56One at a time,
21:57one at a time.
21:58Surabhi, just
21:59hold on.
22:01If Surabhi is
22:02going to rely on
22:03personal anecdotes
22:04of a member of
22:06parliament, then
22:07this is a recipe
22:07for disaster.
22:08Please give us
22:09some evidence.
22:10Please connect
22:11this evidence
22:11to the heart
22:12and then we'll
22:13return.
22:15Surabhi, hold on.
22:16CBI.
22:18Shivanna, go
22:19ahead.
22:20No, it's as
22:20simple as this.
22:21Personal anecdotes
22:22are being equated
22:24to tangible
22:24evidence.
22:25Is this the
22:26way democracy
22:27is going to
22:27be run?
22:28Is this the
22:29way our
22:29dialogues are
22:30going to be
22:30reduced to?
22:31And the
22:31member of
22:32parliament must
22:33lose his
22:33time more
22:34judiciously and
22:34wisely on
22:35things that are
22:35important.
22:36Let him
22:37question the
22:37prime minister
22:38on where the
22:39tax...
22:40bank against
22:4040%...
22:41Why is
22:42injustice being
22:43done to
22:43Karnataka?
22:43No, no.
22:44Wait.
22:44As opposed to
22:46making baseless
22:47allocations,
22:48archery allocations...
22:50Okay, I'm going
22:50to wrap this up.
22:52I'm going to wrap
22:53this up.
22:53I've run out of
22:54time.
22:54Surabhi and
22:55Shivanna, thank
22:55you for joining
22:56us.
22:57The BJP, look,
22:58as you heard
22:59there from
23:00Surabhi, is
23:01continuing to
23:02allege that
23:03there is a
23:04need for an
23:04investigation to
23:05look into whether
23:06money from Karnataka
23:07is going into
23:08Bihar.
23:09But at this
23:09point, the
23:10Congress maintains
23:11that there's no
23:11evidence.
23:12So, till there's
23:13no evidence, what
23:14really can we push
23:15for of an
23:15investigation?
23:16We're going to
23:16continue tracking
23:17this because there's
23:18no doubt this
23:19political controversy
23:20is going to
23:20continue to
23:21snowball.
23:22But let's talk
23:22about the other
23:23big headline that
23:24emerged from
23:25Karnataka.
23:25Over the last
23:26few days, we saw
23:27a rather public
23:29spat over
23:30Bengaluru's
23:30infrastructure.
23:32You had
23:32Biocon chief
23:33Kiram Azoom
23:33Darshaw, and
23:34there was this
23:34huge argument about
23:35whether she was
23:36a Bengalurian or
23:37not to speak
23:38about this,
23:38whether she's
23:39an outsider.
23:39I'm going to
23:39go ahead and
23:40call her a
23:40Bengalurian because
23:41she stayed in
23:42Bengaluru for
23:43decades.
23:43And to me, that
23:44warrants for her
23:45to be referred to
23:46as a person who
23:47belongs to the
23:47city.
23:48She was someone
23:49who criticised
23:50the Bengaluru
23:51infrastructure,
23:52questioned the
23:53administration,
23:54questioned the
23:54government, which
23:55every citizen has
23:56the right to do.
23:57But she was met
23:57instead with a
23:58whole lot of
23:59criticism, in
24:00fact, claims by
24:01the government
24:02saying this is a
24:02conspiracy to
24:03defame, malign
24:04Bengaluru's image
24:05and whatnot.
24:05Interestingly, today
24:07the Biocon
24:08chief met with
24:09the Karnataka
24:09chief minister
24:10Sidra Mayan and
24:11the deputy chief
24:12minister D.K.
24:13Shivkumar.
24:14Is this a Diwali
24:15truce?
24:15Was there an
24:16olive branch?
24:16Is there damage
24:17control?
24:18Because there was
24:18considerable criticism
24:19that came the
24:20government's way for
24:21taking on Kira
24:22Mazumdar.
24:23Shaw, let's get
24:24you all the
24:24details.
24:26After non-stop
24:28social media
24:28jibes and
24:29taunts, it
24:30seems a Diwali
24:31truce has been
24:32called.
24:34We are talking
24:35about this
24:35meet between
24:36Kiran Mazumdar
24:38Shaw and
24:38CM Sidra
24:39Maya, as
24:40well as his
24:41deputy, D.K.
24:42Shivkumar.
24:43The Biocon
24:44chief met with
24:45CM Sidra
24:45Maya and
24:46Shivkumar just
24:47days after a
24:48rather public
24:49spat over
24:50Bengaluru
24:51infrastructure.
24:52And this
24:53meet was
24:54clearly more
24:55than just a
24:55Diwali
24:56courtesy greeting.
25:18The Karnataka
25:19deputy CM's
25:20statement, after
25:21meeting
25:22Kiran
25:22Shaw, was
25:23a sharp
25:23contrast from
25:24his earlier
25:25comment, days
25:26ago, when he
25:27had criticised
25:28the Biocon
25:29chief.
25:29Kiran Mazumdar
25:48Shaw repeatedly
25:49questioned the
25:50government over
25:51the state of
25:52affairs in
25:52Bengaluru and
25:54was targeted by
25:55even the CM for
25:56doing so.
25:57And how the
25:59optics of
26:00targeting someone
26:01like Kiran
26:02Mazumdar
26:02Shaw simply
26:03for questioning
26:03the government
26:04wasn't ideal and
26:06whether this
26:07particular meeting
26:08with the ministers
26:08was damage
26:09control or an
26:11olive branch,
26:12hopefully it
26:13will lead to
26:13addressing her
26:14concerns rather
26:15than brushing
26:16them aside as a
26:18conspiracy.
26:18With
26:19you,
26:19Sagaraj,
26:21reporting for
26:21India Today,
26:22Bengaluru.
26:22There is a
26:30heavy rain
26:30warning that's
26:31been issued by
26:32the Med
26:32Department for
26:33parts of
26:33Tamil Nadu.
26:35Starting tomorrow,
26:36for those of
26:37you living in
26:37the state,
26:38brace yourselves
26:39for heavy to
26:40very heavy
26:41rainfall.
26:42Several coastal
26:42districts particularly
26:43are on alert.
26:45Chennai too is
26:46expected to be
26:47hit by extremely
26:48heavy rainfall.
26:50It is not just
26:50a 24-hour alert.
26:51The Med
26:52Department has
26:53warned that in
26:54a matter of
26:55the next 3-4
26:56days, there's
26:57going to be
26:57extreme rainfall
26:58in most of the
26:59coastal districts
27:00of Tamil Nadu.
27:01In fact, just
27:02today, over 100
27:03mm of rainfall
27:04was recorded in
27:05many Tamil Nadu
27:06districts, including
27:07in parts of
27:08Chennai, where we
27:09understand that
27:09there are some
27:10pockets in Chennai
27:11that have received
27:12extreme rainfall
27:13today, but
27:14fortunately, there
27:14have been a few
27:15gaps that's helped
27:16for the water to
27:17drain off.
27:18This is just the
27:19beginning of the
27:19monsoon, and
27:20we're already
27:21seeing low
27:22depressions
27:23moving towards
27:24coastal parts
27:26of Tamil Nadu.
27:26In this
27:26particular case,
27:27it's not a
27:28depression, it's
27:28a low-pressure
27:29system that's
27:30moved closer
27:31to the coast.
27:31to the coast.
27:37to the coast, to the
27:38coast.
27:39to the coast, to the
27:39coast.
27:40So the government is saying we are fully prepared for the monsoon, I want to bring in Pramal
28:10Madhav, who is joining us live from Chennai with poor details on this, Prabod, extremely
28:15worrying, I understand today also was an extremely rainy day in Chennai, but going by what the
28:21med department says, it's going to be worse in the coming days in Chennai and other parts
28:25of Tamil Nadu, take us through what really the alert says.
28:31Sir, this is the beginning of the monsoon in the state of Tamil Nadu and it like, you know,
28:35categorically we can say from October 16 to almost December 16, we can expect maybe depressions
28:40low depressions and also the low pressure depressions and cyclones as well, but at the beginning
28:45this is the first phase or like the rainfall that we've received today and for tomorrow
28:50also like, you know, extremely heavy rainfall has been predicted for five districts, that
28:53is below Chennai, a couple of districts and also the delta regions are also expected to
28:57get a good amount of rainfall.
28:58In the past two days, Teni district in particular and Virdanagar and all those districts like
29:02Coimbatore, which falls on the foothills of the western guards, they have received good
29:06amount of rainfall that has led to a flooding situation as well.
29:09Now, the deputy chief minister has said that all measures have been taken and earlier the
29:13chief minister also held a meeting with the chief secretary and everybody along with the
29:16district collectors to find out the exact situation, now the preparedness and such and
29:20when put forward the question as to what is the preparation that's been done for the
29:23monsoon, the chief minister MK Stalin said that preparation did not just begin now but
29:27for the past two months as well, all preparations have been done.
29:30DMK government also claims that many canals and everything has also been desilted and cleaned
29:35to make sure that this monster will be dealt properly, Akshita.
29:39We'll get a reality check for our viewers in just a bit but Pramod, thanks for those details.
29:48Chennai, it's brave, brace yourself for heavy rains in the next 24 hours.
29:53It's been a rather damp Diwali in Chennai this time after 14 years but the next few days, it could be worse.
30:00The Met Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in the city for not just tomorrow but the entire week.
30:07It's going to therefore be a long, long week for all of you in Chennai as the forecast for heavy rain is from October 22nd all the way up to Friday.
30:15So this is to give all of you a heads up on what to expect this week and also the advisory that's been issued for your safety.
30:22There's no school shutdown or office shutdown announced as of now but a general advisory to stay cautious, to avoid flooded roads and of course follow us as we will tell you what the situation is because the low pressure area is moving further inland.
30:36Also mind you, this is just the beginning of the monsoon and so Chennai is in for a rough, rough ride over the next few months.
30:42So for all you Chennaiites, if your locality is already underwater or you see basic in from missing to deal with these rains, let us know here on India Today and we'll ensure we bring our cameras to you and let the government know what's to be done.
30:56So based on some of the SOSs from residents that we've received here at India Today, we stepped out to find out what exactly is the situation in some parts of Chennai.
31:18The government says we're fully ready for the monsoon but is that actually the case?
31:23People are struggling right now because the infrastructure is simply not holding up.
31:29There are massive potholes in parts of Chennai, roads that no longer exist and some areas which are deemed as IT hubs.
31:37Anagar Kesh have travelled to many parts of Chennai to get you this ground report.
31:41Mind you, this is part one of a reality check.
31:44Over the next few days, we're going to continue getting you such ground reports.
31:53This is the state of affairs in Chennai.
32:06This is the state of preparedness for the monsoon.
32:09As part one of a reality check, we visited Medha Vakkam in Chennai, where potholes pose as death traps and residents risk their lives every day to make it home.
32:23I'm just going to drive through and show you how difficult it is.
32:29This entire stretch of road is riddled with huge potholes.
32:33This is how difficult it is for me to drive.
32:35I can feel my vehicles shaking as I drive.
32:37Just imagine the safety of citizens that has been jeopardized by the Chennai's civic administration.
32:45This is nothing but a occur, lack of apathy and disregard for the citizens of Chennai.
32:51In fact, I just had a word with one of those citizens who are residing in this road.
32:55And they told me that this particular patch of road has been like this for the last many, many years.
33:00Has this been the road's condition for many years?
33:02Very, very worst year.
33:03The last four, five years, this is the very worst road.
33:07It's not the one bit only.
33:09Others, all road is good.
33:11This one bit is very worst.
33:13Has the area's authority come here ever to inspect the road?
33:17Have you ever told?
33:18Come and see, come and see.
33:19And some little bit in the building, rashes, we can clear this.
33:24After that, it will be again a real problem.
33:28Residents say their pleas for better infrastructure have fallen on deaf ears
33:31and they are not the only ones.
33:38Our next stop is Pallikarani, the IT hub of the city,
33:42where we decided to conduct a reality check
33:44after multiple requests from residents on social media.
33:47And here's what we found.
33:52We're reporting from Pallikarani, which connects Welicheri to Meda Wakam.
33:57This is one of the most popular Chennai's IT hubs, the IT corridor.
34:01And you can see the kind of roads that we are talking about.
34:05It's half cobblestones, half tar roads.
34:07In fact, the civic anger among the people is palpable.
34:11After wasting months of sunny days,
34:13it is now too late for the government to do any fixes
34:17as the rainy season has finally arrived.
34:20Tall claims have been made by the government
34:24that they are fully prepared for the monsoon.
34:27But is this really their sense of preparedness?
34:30Or broken roads and death traps for residents?
34:33With Anaga Keshav in Chennai, Bureau Report, India Today.
34:42And already we're seeing heavy rainfall being reported
34:45in several parts of Tamil Nadu.
34:47Let's give you a sense of what the situation is in these areas.
34:5117 villagers who'd visited a temple for Diwali
34:58were stranded after heavy rains.
35:01The fire and rescue teams responded swiftly
35:03using rope harnesses to safely bring all of them back.
35:07Heavy rains battered Polachi nearby areas
35:14and the Nilgiris over the weekend triggering flash floods,
35:17traffic snarls, landslides and the uprooting of trees
35:20and electric poles.
35:21These are images where you can see water
35:23essentially flowing right through a temple area.
35:30The northeast monsoon wreaking havoc
35:32across Tamil Nadu, forcing villagers to move to safer areas.
35:35Many were seen carrying dead poultry,
35:38salvaging whatever remained of their livelihoods.
35:40This was in Taini of Tamil Nadu.
35:45Taini right now is one of the worst affected.
35:48Rescue teams have been working round the clock
35:50to evacuate those stranded in flood-hit areas
35:53as water levels rose to dangerous levels.
36:01Moving on, let's get you the latest updates
36:04coming in from Tamil Nadu politics.
36:07Remember, we're months away from an election in the state.
36:10The war of words between AIA-DMK and the rebels continues.
36:14We've got you an exclusive conversation
36:15with TTV Dhinakaran, where he speaks out
36:18against EPS, unsurprisingly there,
36:21saying that from the AIA-DMK,
36:23it's now become the EDMK,
36:25Edipadi-DMK.
36:26Listen in to what TTV had to tell us.
36:28EPS is claiming that there is so much issue
36:31between DMK and Congress as alliance parties.
36:35Do you agree with that?
36:36There may be disagreements
36:41between two parties,
36:42like the ruling party, Congress and all.
36:45But here, after entering into India alliance,
36:52he made us to go away from India alliance.
36:58He's weakening the alliance.
37:01India alliance.
37:01Yeah, he doesn't want to come back to power.
37:04He wants to retain the party.
37:06He wants to defeat.
37:07He wants to finish me and punish him.
37:09That is his only motto in this election.
37:12He doesn't want to come back to power.
37:14He thinks that he will become opposition.
37:15At this time, surely it will not happen.
37:18Sir, just to gain some clarity,
37:20you were with NDA
37:21and you just said that he was a person
37:24who asked EPS
37:25and that time EPS said that it was Delhi's decision
37:28and he showed a weird kind of way
37:30to show that you had to be removed.
37:32Then you joined NDA.
37:33You were part of NDA
37:34and now what is happening is that
37:36why do you think EPS does not want to be there?
37:38I mean, you exited claiming that
37:40he should not be the CM candidate.
37:42It was...
37:42See, he expelled us
37:44in order to compromise them
37:47or keep them in good works.
37:49He has told that.
37:50We don't know whether it is correct or not.
37:53It's true or not.
37:55But he has betrayed us
37:57in order to have the power
38:00and enjoy the power.
38:03So why we...
38:05How can we take his words?
38:07See, he is telling that
38:09BJP only protected us
38:12to run the government for four years.
38:17Then what happened to him?
38:18Why did he run away from BJP Alliance?
38:21So we cannot take his words
38:23and we will not believe him.
38:27That is the...
38:27His nature is like that.
38:29Sorry, it's not A-NMEK now.
38:32It is only E-DMK.
38:33ERA Party DMK only
38:36because he has completely
38:38went against MGR's
38:42basic fundamental bylaws.
38:46So we cannot say it is A-NMEK.
38:48It's only Pallani Chami DMK.
38:51Yeah, everybody is laughing
38:53at Pallani Chami's activities.
38:55He's not behaving like a leader
38:56of a party
38:57or a seasoned politician.
38:59His behaviour is totally selfish
39:05and he doesn't want anybody
39:07to grow in politics
39:10and especially people
39:11who has made him
39:13as the chief minister
39:15and who helped him
39:17to continue the government.
39:19He doesn't want them
39:19to exist in the politics.
39:22So why surely this election,
39:25he will reap the fruit
39:26in this election
39:26because for the last 80 years,
39:29he is ditching everybody.
39:32Even Delhi, they have ditched.
39:35See, in 2024,
39:36it's an very important election
39:38for the BJP.
39:40At the time he ditched,
39:42BJP came out.
39:44Now, once again,
39:46he came and joined the alliance.
39:49Do you think that in 2029,
39:51he will go with BJP?
39:54Surely he will not.
39:56That is his nature.
39:57He will betray everybody.
39:59So this time,
40:01he will be taught a lesson
40:03because in 2021,
40:04we made him not to come to power.
40:08This election,
40:10totally,
40:11he will be defeated in politics.
40:13Let's get you the latest update
40:21coming in on the fight
40:22to get back the Asia Cup trophy
40:24from Pakistan.
40:25The BCCI has now got support
40:27from Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
40:30But at this point,
40:32the Asia Cup chairman,
40:34Nakwee,
40:34has refused to budge,
40:35refused to hand over the trophy
40:37to Team India,
40:38to BCCI.
40:39Reportedly,
40:40Nakwee has insisted
40:41that a BCCI representative
40:43collect the trophy from him
40:44at the ACC headquarters
40:46in Dubai.
40:47The Indian board,
40:47however,
40:48has rejected
40:49that particular demand.
40:51And this,
40:52even as the BCCI
40:53has confirmed to us
40:54here on India today,
40:55that a letter
40:56has been written
40:56to the ACC
40:58to give the trophy
40:59to the champion team
41:01fairly,
41:02and that there's been
41:03no response yet
41:04from the ACC.
41:06But the BCCI
41:06making it clear
41:07that if there's a need,
41:08they will escalate
41:09this to the ICC as well.
41:11Nitin Srivastava
41:11is joining us
41:12with more details
41:13on this.
41:13Nitin,
41:14this is a fight
41:14the BCCI
41:15hasn't forgotten
41:16and is continuing
41:18to push for the trophy
41:19to be brought home,
41:20to be brought to India.
41:21But the hurdles continue
41:22because it's clear
41:23that Nakwee
41:24is refusing to cooperate.
41:27Well,
41:27absolutely.
41:27You know,
41:28the day India
41:28became the champion
41:29of Asia Cup,
41:30we all know
41:31how Indian team
41:32refused to take
41:33the trophy
41:33from Mosin Nakwee
41:34who is
41:35Interior Minister
41:37of Pakistan,
41:38ACC chief
41:39and also PCB chief.
41:41But Team India
41:42came back
41:43to home
41:45without the trophy
41:46and this is the first time
41:46when any team
41:47who won the championship
41:49came home
41:51without the trophy.
41:52But as of now,
41:54the story we broke
41:55in the afternoon
41:55that BCCI
41:56has an official email
41:57to Mosin Nakwee
41:58saying that
41:59the trophy
42:00should be handed over
42:01as soon as possible
42:02and if there will be
42:03no response
42:04or no update
42:05within certain time
42:07of period
42:07then BCCI
42:08will take this matter
42:09up,
42:10they will definitely
42:11escalate this issue
42:12to ICC
42:12and there is a meeting
42:14of ICC
42:14next month
42:15around 6th or 7th
42:16so we can expect
42:18that all these issues
42:20will be heard
42:21and discussed
42:22over there
42:22with all board members
42:23of ICC.
42:24Alright,
42:25thanks Nitin
42:25for joining us
42:26with those details.
42:27Let's see
42:27if there is any
42:28sort of clarity
42:30with the backing
42:30that India is now
42:31getting.
42:32The likes of Sri Lanka
42:33and Afghanistan
42:33have also backed
42:34the BCCI's demand
42:36to hand over
42:37the trophy.
42:38So there is pressure
42:39no doubt
42:39piling on the likes
42:41of Nakwee
42:41and the ACC.
42:43The BCCI
42:43are making it clear
42:44otherwise there is
42:45always a possibility
42:45that they will also
42:47move the ICC.
42:49In other big
42:49cricket news,
42:51let's also tell you
42:52about Rishabh Pant's
42:53comeback date.
42:54It's been confirmed
42:55the wicketkeeper
42:56batter will be
42:57leading India A
42:58in two four-day
43:00matches against
43:01a visiting South

43:02ahead of the
43:03much-anticipated
43:05test series
43:05between India
43:06and South Africa.
43:08Pant has been
43:08out of action
43:09since suffering
43:10a foot fracture
43:11during the
43:12Anderson Tendulkar
43:12trophy in July
43:13earlier this year.
43:15The wicketkeeper
43:15batter consequently
43:16missed the home
43:17test series
43:18against the West
43:19Indies as well
43:19as the White
43:20Ball Tour of
43:20Australia.
43:21Pant has been
43:22in constant
43:22contact with
43:23the medical
43:23team in
43:24Bengaluru
43:25where he's
43:25been undergoing
43:26rehabilitation as
43:27well.
43:28He's been also
43:29active on social
43:30media.
43:30His activities
43:31suggest that he
43:32has fully
43:32recovered and
43:33is now ready to
43:34get some game
43:35time.
43:35The upcoming
43:36A-series will
43:37be the first
43:38cricketing assignment
43:39for Pant since
43:40the England
43:41series.
43:44And that's all
43:45we have time for
43:45in this edition
43:46of Super 6.
43:47Thanks very much
43:47for tuning in.
