Netflix Secures Rights to 'Pokémon' Animated Franchise | THR News - video Dailymotion

The streamer will be the sole U.S. home for new episodes of the long-running franchise beginning in June.

00:09Netflix has caught them all.

00:11The streaming giant has secured rights to be the exclusive home of new episodes of the Pokemon animated franchise in the United States.

00:17The agreement with the Pokemon Company International will make Netflix the sole home for future episodes of the show,

00:23beginning with the first 12 episodes of Pokemon Journeys, the 23rd season of the show on June 12th.

00:29New episodes will be added quarterly.

00:31Pokemon Journeys follows Ash and his faithful Pokemon, Pikachu, as they head to the opening of the Cerise Laboratory,

00:37a research facility dedicated to studying Pokemon from all over the world.

00:40There, he meets Go, another boy who's as enthusiastic about the subject as Ash is,

00:45and both are overjoyed when Professor Cerise asks them to be research fellows.

00:49What I want is to catch a Pokemon that nobody has seen before.

00:53Meow!

00:54Will you do me the honor of becoming research fellows at my laboratory?

00:58The new episodes will join several other seasons of the show, currently on Netflix,

01:01along with the most recent movie in the franchise, Pokemon Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, which premiered in February.
