Fox News will lay off staff in a reorganization and restructuring of its businesses.

00:00Fox News has been hit with layoffs amid a reorganization and restructuring of its businesses.
00:06A Fox News spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement,
00:09As Fox News media has evolved into a streamlined multi-platform organization,
00:13we are realigning several functions and restructuring various divisions
00:17in order to position all of our businesses for ongoing success.
00:21No on-air talent are expected to be impacted by the changes,
00:24and less than 3% of staff will lose their jobs in the reorg.
00:27Fox News' parent company Fox Corp. employs about 9,000 people
00:32and has been reorganizing its businesses by division.
00:35In July, Fox Sports laid off between 50 to 100 people in a similar move to streamline operations.
00:41The layoffs at Fox News are not related to the novel coronavirus pandemic,
00:45with the exception of the channel's hair and makeup department,
00:48which was heavily impacted by the pandemic.
00:50A source familiar with the matter tells THR that going forward,
00:53only anchors and contributors will get their hair and makeup done, not on-air guests.
00:58The restructuring comes as Fox Corp. employees continue to work from home due to the pandemic.
01:03Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch told staff in a memo last month
01:06that non-production staff should expect to continue working remotely until 2021.
