00:44they really are extraordinary they do it all there's 15 other things they do that
00:48I didn't I didn't have time to mention yes can I just just dominate the entire
00:59thing I'm just gonna dominate yeah um well there's two actors on our show that
01:05are so phenomenal and and add so much bring so much to the table Kevin Pollack
01:11and Caroline Aaron they play Moish and Shirley Maisel and they are they're
01:17just phenomenal I get to do a lot of my stuff with them and it is total joy I
01:25was so happy to see Luke Kirby recognized I think he's phenomenal when he's on it's
01:30not like anyone's doing a performance it feels like Lenny Bruce that's so tricky to
01:35portray someone who really existed and such an icon and I think he embodies him
01:40but isn't doing an impersonation and it's so phenomenal and Jane's amazing yeah I
01:46just the whole cast everyone's amazing and our crew our crew our crew I get to
01:50come and go but they're there first thing in the morning and last thing at night I
01:53don't know how they do it and I don't know why they do it
01:56slow down everyone one at a time one at a time I think I think it's working oh sorry sorry hi over
02:08here canic Margaret Crowe canic radio congratulations to both of you absolutely
02:11love the show just gonna speak to why you feel it resonates so much this show with
02:16the people who are watching I think it has a lot to do with Alex Borstein yeah and me
02:28why does it just have my name and not your name that's true yeah why does it
02:37resonate I don't know I think because it's kind of a refreshing respite from the
02:43present day and our current situation and it's a little bit of a you know
02:47there's a little element of nostalgia to it and yet it's sort of the themes and
02:52everything are are relate to to present day it's relevant and and it's just full
02:57of full of great characters and and great writing that's that's everything I would
03:05agree I think it's um it's like a musical without singing it's it's it's it's
03:10fantasy and it's an escape and I think people want it right now Alex the story you told at
03:17the end of your speech was very moving can you share a little bit about why you chose to tell
03:23everyone about your family and share that story tonight I'm not sure I don't know just just talking
03:31about the strength of a woman and and and my grandmother was the strongest woman I knew and I
03:36get choked up every time I talk about her but yeah she's she's an amazing person an amazing story
03:42and we keep focusing on the strength of women now and how we've come a long way and it's it's bullshit
03:48they've always been there these these women have always run the roost and I come from a long line of
03:55bulldozers and I'm proud
04:00good
04:02anyone else okay oh one more Tony Alex congratulations it's Jeannie Wolfe um Alex were were you're the strong
04:17women in your family saying yeah go be an actress or were they you know honey have a something to fall
04:25back on or no absolutely my my grandmother used to say why don't you make your own show make a show
04:34why don't you make a show um they have a my mother and grandmother always said be an actress and my
04:40father said go to college and have something to fall back on and so I followed all of their advice
04:45Tony how does it feel to be surrounded by all these strong women on the show well actually it
04:53feels very I feel like I'm very much at home I grew up in a large family have six sisters I am married to
05:00a fabulous woman I have two daughters I I'm just I'm in that world all the time and and it's uh it's
05:06it's it's it's it's fed me and it's nurtured me and it's uh it's made my life fantastic are any of
05:13your daughters interested in acting well I'm happy to say no my older daughter actually did go to uh to
05:21Cal Arts and she in the acting program did really well but when she got out she had the good sense
05:27to to uh become a writer and uh she just chose a totally different path and we're incredibly proud
05:33of her can we have time for one last question
05:37yes
05:41why do you hide like why do you hide on the red carpet when lots of people wanted to talk to you and you and Brooke are kind of sneaking in
06:01sneaking in uh don't look at me we love what you have to say Alex told me to do that that's
06:12I just I just I'm I'm obedient and I I just follow orders you know I don't know I mean I just I never
06:19get the sense that people are clamoring to there's so many great high profile people you know on that
06:25carpet and so um I prefer to you know um recede rather than rather than be pushed out of the way
06:33and Alex I think that every year I learn something new about you and I think I I mean in a professional
06:39sense that you can do so much and I feel like there's something that you're working on maybe at
06:45your desk that you're going to write and do yourself is there a secret project in your life
06:49oh yeah there's always a secret project um but my the biggest project is my kids I I when I'm not
06:58working for you know we work for five to six months and then I go and just have fun with my kids and play
07:04with them and take them to school but yeah I'm always writing I'm working on a feature and we'll see
07:08what happens comedy drama horror uh it's it's kind of a porn
07:13why is that funny it's the first laugh of the night I'm offended uh yeah it's a hardcore porn it's
07:22a snuff film you're gonna get in trouble over that am I no I'm gonna get rich I'm gonna get rich
