00:00From getting left at the altar to facing her mental health struggles head-on,
00:11we've seen Rebecca Bunch's life dramatically evolve through a series of wacky musical numbers
00:16on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. But the end of the road for the CW show is in sight.
00:21On Monday, the network announced that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will return for a fourth run
00:25in the 2018-2019 season. And according to its star and co-creator Rachel Bloom,
00:31that fourth season will be its final season. She tweeted Monday,
00:34But the CW declined to comment on if season four will indeed be the show's endgame.
00:45A formal announcement on that is expected to come closer to May's upfronts when the broadcast
00:50networks pitch their schedules to ad buyers. Bloom later tweeted,
00:53But the fact that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend would end with its fourth season should come as a little surprise.
01:13Following the season one finale, Bloom told The Hollywood Reporter that her ideal number of seasons
01:17is a round four. Bloom said,
01:19We're a show about a very specific journey in a person's life. And it's not really a sitcom
01:24meant to spit out copies of itself. She added,
01:26Very early on, we called it a 50-hour movie. I think we're beyond that now.
01:30There's always going to be plot movement, so there's only so far I think that you can go with that.
01:34It could be five, but I think a round four would be ideal for us creatively.
01:38Now, what Crazy Ex-Girlfriend lacked in overall viewers, the series made up for with critical
01:42and awards season love. The show has been an Emmy player for its original music and choreography,
01:48and Bloom won a Golden Globe for her starring role, among other accolades.
01:51Next season could also see the CW rap Jane the Virgin after star Gina Rodriguez recently said
01:57the series would return for a final season. A formal announcement on that could also come in May.
