00:00What? Have you lost your mind?
00:03CMT has announced that Nashville's sixth season, which begins on January 4th, will be its last.
00:08All of us on Nashville are so incredibly grateful to the show's fans who convinced CMT
00:12to give us a chance to keep telling the story of these remarkable characters,
00:15producer Marshall Herskovitz said.
00:17And we want to return the favor with a final season that celebrates all the joys and passions,
00:21twists and turns and amazing music that made Nashville such an exciting journey for the last six years.
00:27Produced by Lionsgate Television and Opry Entertainment, Nashville, which stars Hayden Panettiere and Charles Esten,
00:32will wrap with more than 100 episodes, millions of singles and albums sold and multiple music tours
00:37in the U.S. and U.K. After more than 120 episodes of unforgettable television, we believe that
00:43creatively it is time for the series to come to its triumphant close at the end of the upcoming season,
00:48said Kevin Beggs, chairman of Lionsgate Television Group.
00:51We're very proud of our incredibly talented cast and crew, the creative brilliance of our showrunners,
00:55and the loyal support of our great partners at CMT, Hulu and ABC Studios. Most importantly,
01:01we owe a special debt of thanks to the Nashville fans who propelled the series to an incredible run.
01:06We owe it to them to make the sixth season the most exciting and memorable of all.
01:10Once Nashville wraps its run on CMT in 2018, the cable network will exit the scripted original space.
01:15It had included Billy Ray Cyrus' Still the King and miniseries Sun Records, which aired after
01:20Nashville's fifth season. CMT is still home to syndicated repeats like Last Man Standing, Reba,
01:25Roseanne, Raising Hope and New Arrival, Mom. CMT will be the latest cable network to stop airing scripted
01:31originals as competition continues to rise in the so-called peak TV era of more than 500 shows.
01:37Nashville's final 16-episode season will be split in two, with the season finale airing in the summer.
