00:00We were waiting for you because they're doing a lot of hugs, which I feel like is just a byproduct of doing a movie like this.
00:04I think so, yeah. We've all gotten quite close.
00:07And so tell me what that's like. I mean, you've been working for a while now,
00:09and everyone that I've talked to tonight says this is a singular experience, nothing like it, a brotherhood unexpected.
00:15So tell me, really, what it was like from the inside.
00:21How to explain it?
00:24Difficult to explain.
00:25I think Alex Garland, Ray Mendoza, you know, really curated a group of guys that they knew would care
00:36and, you know, would recognize what's important with the story and commit to it.
00:41And they did. It's really because of them.
00:44They put all of us together, and we all got along, and it was a phenomenal, phenomenal experience.
00:48Tell me what it was like to get sent to boot camp, do the head shaving together.
00:52Very fun.
00:56Yeah, extremely fun.
00:57It was extremely fun, hard work, good work, and learned a lot.
01:02You know, I certainly understand why Ray's the man to tell the story.
01:06And, you know, he instilled in us, you know, as many things as he possibly could in a very short time.
01:12And I hope we just, I hope we all received it as best as we could.
01:15And I was reading that Ray and Alex decided, like, for an actor to get cast in this movie,
01:20they were really looking for people with fire in their guts and actors with the right attitude.
01:25Tell me how that translated to the experience, and how do you feel?
01:28That's the group chat name.
01:29Did you change it?
01:30Did I change it?
01:31The internet boyfriends at Netflix.
01:32Oh, yeah, we already did.
01:33Yeah, that was me.
01:35I think you're lying.
01:36Are you lying?
01:36I am lying.
01:38What?
01:38Did you put them up to this?
01:39Are you trying to get them to do this?
01:41You were lying well.
01:42Oh, I didn't, though.
01:44This is, look at this man.
01:45Look at this man.
01:46This is what you saw in the motion picture.
01:48He is in there.
01:49We're all in the motion picture.
01:52What is this about the group chat?
01:53The title got changed?
01:55No.
01:56No, she tried to get me to change it to a title that had, that definitely didn't, you know,
02:02properly label all of us, and it was a joke, and then they, she was talking to them about it.
02:07But we do have a group chat.
02:08We have, every single day, we've all, like, engaged and been talking since we started
02:12the film, since we started boot camp, you know, all the way until now, and we continue
02:16to catch up with each other whenever we're in each, in a, there's more than one of us
02:22in a city we're usually hanging out.
02:23And listen, you've been in group chats before with other projects.
02:26Projects are always like a family.
02:27How is this one different?
02:31You know, sometimes they stick and sometimes they don't, and, like, if you're, you know,
02:34sometimes, sometimes people get busy and you're doing your thing, and it carries on for the
02:40duration of the project, sometimes a year, sometimes three, you know, all I'm saying,
02:44all I know is that we continue to speak daily, you know, most of us, and it's profound, it's
02:51very powerful.
02:51And are you tattooed?
02:53I am.
02:54Yeah?
02:54On your leg?
02:55Mine's here, yeah.
02:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:57Most of us, I think all of us except for two now.
03:00Yeah, that's what I heard.
03:01Yeah.
03:01I heard the pressure's on for tonight.
03:03We're trying to, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:05Hopefully we can.
03:06No, I'm so happy to see you, and I'm also so disappointed about the recruit getting canceled.
03:12Tell me how you're feeling.
03:14You know, it is what it is.
03:16Netflix, you know, they have a certain mandate that they need to fill, and I'm very proud
03:20of the show, very grateful to our audience.
03:24You know, we have a pretty strong cult following, and, you know, with Netflix, it just didn't really
03:29fit what it was that they needed, I suppose, and so on to the next, I guess.
03:32But we're all very, very, as a cast, we're all very, very happy that we were able to
03:37do the seasons that we did.
03:39And when you look back on that experience, what stands out to you about the show?
03:44I mean, I just, I learned so much from season one to season two.
03:49You know, I really got to see behind the curtain, you know, of how a show gets made,
03:53and that to me was probably the most, you know, educational part of it, without a doubt,
03:58and also having such a great cast.
04:01So nice to see you.
