00:00I mean it's a big night for you guys how are you feeling the excitement I feel
00:03like this is a cool premiere too you can kind of like see the vibe like from the
00:07carpet as well we actually it's funny we've uh we've been here the last few
00:12days doing press so we've seen this built up around here and it it it it was
00:18already intimidating when we were like walk by it and be like oh wow that's a
00:21lot and seeing it full of people is like man we've had our nose so in there's
00:27making the show and and loving the show and wanting to respect the legacy of
00:32everything to do with it one day you look up and there's a gigantic gigantic
00:36billboard it's kind of wild have any of your friends or family been able to see
00:42it yet or is this going to be the big night oh this is the big night for
00:45basically everybody you know in some ways it's the big night for us because we
00:50come from an indie film career so you know most TV shows don't have a premiere
00:54in a theater but in our indie film career we'd have a like a premiere at a
00:58film festival and that's there's this weird feeling that happens when you see
01:01it in a theater for the first time even though you've already watched your film
01:04400 times and you're sick of it you your emotions just start to become exactly
01:09like what the audience is feeling and you you experience it anew so we're an hour
01:15out from for us feeling like we're seeing it for the first time and of course we've
01:19never seen it in a big packed theater so yeah sure it's such a crazy feeling and I
01:23know for this project there was a big creative overhaul midway through the
01:26season I know they brought you guys in as well so what were some of the
01:30challenges if any that you kind of had to work through when you were brought on
01:33midway through oh you know what in all sincerity it's probably a weird way to
01:41put it but like this is our fifth TV show we've done I think and our third one
01:45with Marvel but TV shows are always as you when you come in as a director they're
01:49always as big Rubik's Cube depicted Rubik's Cube to figure out and our
01:54memory of coming on board of this was like oh my gosh this is so strong and
01:59what and what an honor to get to to also work on it and participate was there
02:06anything different that you were looking to explore or do or flush out even in
02:11terms of the previous iteration when it was on Netflix yeah I mean one of our
02:15favorite things I think we talked about this the other day is is we really like
02:20that Matt is a Catholic superhero because that lets us kind of explore really large
02:25questions of someone's place in the universe right and something happens in
02:31the first episode that makes him really wonder about that and so both in in you
02:37know directing and shaping the scripts and and and the cinematography and all of
02:42that we just wanted to make it feel like this this reckoning with his faith and and
02:48with himself as a human being was being talked about you know so so one example we
02:52give is the the camera work has this kind of omniscient feeling of doom as if
02:57someone something invisible is watching like an angel or a demon or a deity you
03:01know yeah I really love that I know something else that fans are hoping for
03:05looking for looking out for is the Defenders we're missing some you know Iron Fist
03:10Jessica Jones so I was kind of wondering your take on if we can't get them this
03:15season maybe the next season what are your hopes for that so this is what is
03:20called digging for spoilers and I can see it in your eyes
03:24nothing what's great is I love giving spoilers and I'm gonna tell you
03:29everything after the show is out I knew it's too good to be true well how would
03:34you feel about a Defenders movie if we were to kind of round up the truth I mean we
03:40would love yeah we're totally watching we would love Defenders movie these uh we
03:46really gravitate towards these street level characters that are like they hurt
03:54like we hurt whether whether that's whether that's emotional or that's
03:57physical and there's for us there's just an additional layer of tension there and
04:01it's a and it's also a world that we're always been more comfortable playing in
04:06given our background in indie film yeah and finally we do something called the
04:12question where every week we ask a different question to everyone that
04:14walks through the carpet this week since it's Oscars week I wanted to ask you guys
04:18what is one project that you're really rooting for for best picture oh okay I'm
04:24I'm I'm well no it's not there's there's so many good options I'm gonna say a Nora
04:30Sean has been a friend for a while he's the best filmmaker in the world and it's
04:35time for him you know and also of course a Nora rules it's not even just about Sean
04:39uh for me it's a tie between a Nora and uh the substance because uh poor ally the
04:52director we met her at a film festival in 2017 and quickly became friends and um she's
04:58just such a cool nice humble person and she made this just punk rock wild movie that somehow
05:05has been embraced by um by by pop culture at large cinephiles and it's so singular in a in a world
05:16where we're all worried about like that like the dying box office of independent film or all films
05:21you know but but it's uh you see something like the massive success of the substance and the massive
05:26success of a Nora two completely different movies one's a genre film and one is like a human you know
05:32uh uh uh drama and it just shows that like the audience has a thirst for exploring the human condition
05:42even if it's in the form of extreme gore or or it was what Sean's doing yeah
