00:00Brian Cox thinks cinema is in a very bad way and says movies like Deadpool and Wolverine are to
00:05blame. The legendary actor who earned critical acclaim for his role in HBO's Succession spoke
00:11at an Edinburgh International Film Festival panel and cited the latest MCU installment
00:16Deadpool and Wolverine as a great example of cinematic quote party time. What's happened is
00:21that television is doing what cinema used to do. I think cinema is in a very bad way. I think it's
00:26lost its place. He cited Marvel and DC Studios as examples adding I think cinema is beginning to
00:32implode actually. You're kind of losing the plot. He discussed Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman of
00:37Deadpool and Wolverine while referencing how films are making a lot of money that'll make everybody
00:42happy. But in terms of the work it becomes diluted afterwards. You're getting the same old I mean I've
00:47done those kind of projects. Coincidentally Cox starred as William Stryker Jr in X2 X-Men United
00:53a military scientist who persuades Logan to become Wolverine and admittedly said he forgets about the
00:59fact that he quote created Wolverine. He added so it's just become a party time for certain actors
01:04to do this stuff when you know that Hugh Jackman can do a bit more Ryan Reynolds but it's because
01:10they go down that road and it's box office. They make a lot of money. You can't knock it. For more
