Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman chat with THR at the 'Deadpool & Wolverine' red carpet premiere and reveal why they love working with each other. Plus, hear why they have absolutely no regrets from 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.'
Transcript
00:00Ryan, what was that final selling point to Hugh to get him to join the film?
00:04I never ever sold Hugh on, he auditioned like everybody else and, you know, got the part.
00:09Six auditions.
00:10Yeah, did really well. That last one, though, really blew it, but we looked at the fifth again.
00:13I didn't understand why I had to be naked for the last audition.
00:15Yeah, that's just the process.
00:17Are you going to cash in on anything for you, a project that you want Ryan to work on in the future?
00:22Oh, yeah, every project he's working on.
00:25We do quick-poco around here.
00:27Yeah, no, he's not as an actor or a writer or a producer, but he's wonderful, like, support for me.
00:32Yes.
00:33And he carries my bags, and he's really, really helpful, and it'd be great to have him there.
00:36I'm going to be Hugh Jackman's valet.
00:38And looking back, any regrets of X-Men Origins, Wolverine?
00:41Because without it, we wouldn't get to this.
00:43No.
00:43Regrets. No, the best, man.
00:45No, zero. Come on.
00:46That's a terrible thing to ask, because it's, like, given birth to this incredible friendship.
00:52You know, that movie, a lot of people don't realize, was shot in the middle of a writer's strike.
00:55One of the hardest ways to shoot a film you can ever imagine.
00:59And I think, like, the perseverance that you showed and everybody else.
01:03Also, I got to watch the most classy, like, kind, intelligent, you know, wickedly disciplined movie star at the time.
01:13Welcome me onto a set.
01:15And I got to have that behavior modeled for me at a pretty formative time in my life.
01:19And I'm always grateful to Hugh for that.
01:21What is different about working together in this movie?
01:25Oh.
01:25I don't know.
01:26I mean, you know, usually it's like we can, you know, be pretty relaxed hanging out.
01:31But I got to be in sort of awe the whole time.
01:33So it's kind of cool.
01:34It's like looking at your friend who suddenly becomes a rock star or something.
01:36It was wild.
01:37It's insane.
01:37How did the collaboration with Stray Kids come about?
01:40Well, Korea is like a hub of culture, cinema, music, everything.
01:44So, you know, I met with them years ago and I love them.
01:47Yeah.
