00:03Talk to us first, Coach, about the game itself,
00:05what it means for the state of Alabama on Iron Bowl Day.
00:09Well, there's nothing like, you know, the state of Alabama,
00:11there's really nothing that state hangs its hat on but college football.
00:15There's three sports.
00:16There's football season, there's recruiting, and there's spring football.
00:19Nothing else matters.
00:21They don't even number their years, they name them.
00:24Bow over the top, you know, the reverse, the kick.
00:27The biggest play of this game will be what they call that year
00:30for the rest of their lives, and when Auburn plays at home,
00:34they've played 17 of these Iron Bowls in Auburn.
00:37They've won 10, mostly as underdogs.
00:40As an example, 1993, 95, and 97, I beat Alabama.
00:45All three of those years at home, we were underdogs twice.
00:49I just think it's going to be a walk-off field goal for Auburn.
00:52I just think, and I was there last week.
00:54They are so excited.
00:55Both quarterbacks have played well.
00:58The new coach is coming.
00:59I don't know who it is, but there's an excitement that's there right now
01:02because of the future, and I just think it's an uplifting atmosphere.
01:06Not that Alabama's not a great team and Alabama can win,
01:09but I just feel like this is a year that Auburn's going to knock them off
01:12and add a little more mystery to what's going to go on in the SEC
01:16and postseason play.
01:17Coach, what has been the biggest change for Auburn,
01:20obviously releasing and getting rid of Hugh Freeze to what we see this offense now
01:26because they seem like they have more continuity?
01:30Well, they've been able to mix the run with the pass.
01:33Now, they lost against Fandy, but they had a ton of offense.
01:36A couple of hundred-yard rushers.
01:38They threw for a ton of yards.
01:39They didn't turn the ball over.
01:41Then they played the next week.
01:42It's just a bursar college, but they used the backup quarterback who hadn't had any reps.
01:48He runs for 176 and throws for a million in a game that really was not a tough game to play.
01:53I just think the play calling, the difference in the way they approach their offense,
01:59they'll go back to Ashton Daniels at quarterback against Alabama.
02:02He's the more mature, experienced quarterback.
02:05And I think because of the way they mix their plays up, they run in pass.
02:09I think that's what gives them a chance to move the ball a little bit versus Alabama.
