00:00...of Return to Paradise at 8. Your weekend starts right here.
00:17Hello there and welcome to your Friday One Show live on BBC One and I play with Clara Ampho.
00:22And Alex Jones and there is so much to celebrate tonight as we take you into the weekend.
00:26Yes, just two weeks ago she won the heart of the nation and raised over £11 million for children in need.
00:33And later on the incredible Sarah Cox will be hot-footing away over from a Radio 2 show,
00:39don't worry it's not far, to share how she's feeling after that epic challenge.
00:44She'll also be telling us why her new BBC show all about tiny handcrafted models
00:48is sure to bring out some big emotions. Think the repair shop meets the borrowers.
00:52It's really, really fun.
00:53Oh, it's so pretty. And Soap fans were celebrating early this year
00:58when EastEnders legend Jake Wood returned to the square.
01:01Well, he's here to tell us about Max Branning's very special New Year's Day episode,
01:06which sees the action flash forward an entire year into the future.
01:11Very exciting. So clever.
01:12And of course, we are continuing to shine a light on some wonderful teachers,
01:16support staff and schools for the National Teaching Awards.
01:19And tonight, we've got not one, but two awards to dish out.
01:22Yes. Matt Allwright was in Epson to give hairdressing lecturer Lisa,
01:26who works in further education, a heartwarming surprise with the help of her students
01:31and her favourite musician, Jules Holland.
01:34It's very, very good.
01:35And our second winner tonight doesn't even know he's won, and it is a big one.
01:40It's the Lifetime Achievement Award.
01:42Strictly star Amy Dowden is here to help us surprise headteacher Lynn from Kefilly,
01:47who is in London ahead of the teaching awards ceremony tomorrow night.
01:51And earlier, he arrived at a hotel just across the road with his wife, Katrin,
01:55where he's waiting right now.
01:57Exciting.
01:58So Amy's going to be heading over there very shortly,
02:01whilst his family and some of the other fabulous winners we've met this week
02:04are right here in the studio to join in the celebrations.
02:06So lots coming up, but let's say a proper hello to our first two guests tonight.
02:11It's Amy Dowden and Jake Woods.
02:16Hello, both.
02:17Hello, hello.
02:19Amy, fantastic to have you here to help us tonight.
02:22It was lovely as well to see you in Blackpool last week.
02:25So we've got this special mission.
02:27We've set it up there already.
02:29But we have to ask first, of course, we all follow you on Instagram.
02:33We know you've had another op.
02:35How are you feeling?
02:36You know, I'm feeling really well, thank you.
02:38Three weeks ago, yesterday, I had another mastectomy.
02:40The first week to ten days, a bit rough, but every day feeling better and stronger.
02:45And I'm just itching now to go back on the dance floor when I'm fully recovered, obviously.
02:50I'm not going to rush it.
02:51But, yeah, doing really well, thank you.
02:53You look at a picture of health, as always.
02:56Eyes are sparkling, so delighted to have you here.
02:58And there's also a really lovely connection between you and Lynne, the teacher,
03:02who we're giving an award to tonight.
03:03Yeah, absolutely.
03:04My cousin's children attend that school.
03:07So, yeah, really, really special.
03:09And obviously, being like a Philly girl, I'm very proud.
03:11Yeah, but obviously, you know, also as a dance teacher, celebrating teachers is important, isn't it?
03:16Yeah, absolutely.
03:17Philip Perry, to me, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
03:21I wouldn't have achieved half of what I have without him.
03:25And there are no words to describe or thank him enough for all he's done for me.
03:30So thank you so much, Philip, from the bottom of my heart.
03:33Yeah.
03:33Teachers have a massive, massive impact.
03:36Yeah.
03:36They really do.
03:37Every single person has got that one teacher who made a huge impact on their life.
03:41I mean, Jake, we need to hear about yours, because it's not just you.
03:44It's many people that we know from telly and theatre, right?
03:46Yeah, I went to a place called Anna Shears when I was 10 years old.
03:50And Anna Shear was like just an inspirational teacher who sort of started off teaching in Islington in the late 60s.
03:57And she went on to teach for over 50 years, got me into acting.
04:00I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Anna Shear.
04:02And so many of sort of, you know, people you see on TV all the time went through there.
04:07Nat Cassidy, Sido and Patsy Palmer.
04:10So, yeah, Anna Shear was just, you know, amazing.
04:12But like you say, it just takes that one teacher, doesn't it, to change the course of your life.
04:16Yeah.
04:16What an amazing gift to be able to do that and affects people's lives in a positive way.
04:21It's incredible.
04:23Absolutely.
04:23Well, we don't want to keep our winner waiting too long, do we?
04:28So, Amy, if you wouldn't mind, off you go.
04:31Good luck.
04:32Thank you.
04:39Now, whilst Amy heads across the road to prepare for the surprise, let's chat to Jake as it's been a really busy year after he made his shock return to EastEnders four years after leaving the soap.
04:49Now, before he tells us all about being at the heart of the unmissable New Year's Day special, let's take a look at some of that, we can say this word, the chaos.
04:57Yes.
04:58That Max Branagh has caused since he rocks back up on the square.
05:01Must be my lucky day.
05:08Max Branagh to you?
05:09Yeah!
05:10Listen to me, all right?
05:11You're going to be okay.
05:12I've just seen her with her tongue halfway down.
05:14Wait, that's enough, all right, Stacey?
05:15No, it ain't enough.
05:16You are a disgusting liar.
05:18I just want to be a good dad, mate.
05:20That's all I want.
05:20It's too late.
05:22I will end you.
05:25Bye, Max.
05:26So, Max arrived.
05:32Go on, Max, indeed.
05:34So, Max arrived back on the square last month for a few episodes, but now he's returning full-time, just ahead of what's set to be, surprise, surprise, it's EastEnders, a very dramatic Christmas.
05:43So, lots of questions coming in for you, Jake.
05:45Hello to Dawn, who says, me and my daughter Amelia love watching EastEnders and every storyline leaves us wanting more.
05:53What went through your mind when you were asked to return as Max?
05:56It's very exciting.
05:57You know, I was there for 15 years originally, then had a five-year break and had a lunch with a new boss in January, Ben Wadey, and one of the writers, Simon Ashtown, who sort of outlined the plans to come back.
06:09And that's when I started to really think about it seriously and get excited about coming back.
06:12And then, yeah, came back a couple of months ago, did a few eps, and I think Max is back on screen December the 16th.
06:18And then, so, obviously, you've got to build up to Christmas, there's lots of drama at Christmas, it's always never a settled time.
06:23Never, never.
06:24And then we've got New Year and this really exciting episode that we've just finished filming.
06:30Yeah, it's amazing, it's incredible.
06:31Yeah, well, let's talk a bit about that, because this is a groundbreaking flash-forward episode that we will see as viewers on New Year's Day.
06:39Yes.
06:40What can you tell us, then, of course, without spoiling it?
06:43So, I think it's the first time that EastEnders have done anything like this.
06:47So, they've got a whole episode, which is on New Year's Day.
06:50So, you've got, obviously, New Year, you've got Max is in a lot of trouble, there's a lot of drama.
06:55There's a surprise.
06:56Yeah, leading up to that.
06:57Those episodes are amazing.
07:00And then, suddenly, on New Year's Day, we cut to the Vic, and it's not New Year's Day 2026, it's New Year's Day 2027.
07:06We see Max, he's obviously had a very busy year, he's been in lots of drama, there are lots of events that have happened, and, yeah, I think the audience are really going to love it.
07:17I think there's going to be so much speculation, and it's just a really interesting way of telling the story, because over the next year, we're going to build up to what we've seen.
07:25So, yeah, we've got a whole half an hour episode of the flash-forward, and it's just, it's jammed, honestly, it's so jammed, packed, full of questions that...
07:33Well, giving little clues to what might come.
07:36Yeah, so we see stuff where Max is, he's obviously in some sort of trouble, we don't know what.
07:41There are, yeah, lots of things happening that is just intriguing and confusing, and, yeah, I mean, I think the speculation's off the scale.
07:52We already, as a cast, are all guessing and trying to work it out, so I don't know what's going to happen over the next year.
07:57It's going to be fascinating, but, yeah, so, yeah, just so excited about that.
08:01See, that's a sign of great writing. Now, before that special episode goes out, Max, you know, he's got his hands full because he's going to be reuniting with his former lover, Linda Carter.
08:11Now, Linda's got a secret, hasn't she?
08:13Yeah, she has. Yeah, when Max left, obviously, he was having an affair with Linda, and then she went on to have a baby, Annie, that Max doesn't know about.
08:20So, yeah, so that would be interesting if and when Max finds out. I think also his family are keeping it secret from him, so that's obviously, that would be a big betrayal for Max.
08:29Yeah, we'll see what happens. I mean, that's the beautiful thing about Max Browning.
08:33He's got so much drama and so much history with so many of the characters there, so you've got the Beals.
08:38Obviously, we saw him with Zoe Slater. He had a relationship with her in the flashbacks, then he came back, and he wanted to get back with Stacey, but she's now on a break, so she won't be there.
08:50Yeah, you've got the Beals, the Mitchells, there's just so much.
08:53Well, he's been involved with so many.
08:54He has, yeah. So, you know, if I think back, it's been 20 years, really, since I first started on the show, so, yeah, you've got all of that history, and, yeah, it's just, it's a real gift, and I'm so happy to be back.
09:07It's great. There's a great atmosphere there at the moment.
09:10Speaking of history, I mean, we've got to talk about the Christmas specials, because everybody always looks forward to them every year.
09:15We've got to take you back to 2007, Max and Stacey's Affair.
09:19And we're in 2025 now, and to this day, it hasn't seemed to have left people, right?
09:24Well, it's amazing that those characters are still really connected.
09:28So when we saw Max come back a couple of months ago, yeah, obviously, you know, he still had the longing to be with Stacey, and, yeah, they've still got that history 18 years later.
09:36Yeah, so to be, to play a character for that long and that is that rich, yeah, is a real testament to the writing.
09:43And people are still talking about it.
09:44Yeah.
09:45Yeah, so it's just, it's beautiful to be sort of in the middle of iconic stories and moments like that in a show that's been, you know, 40 years they celebrated this year.
09:54And EastEnders, it's an amazing year, so, yeah, and I think, as far as I can see, it's just going from strength to strength, so.
10:01That's a sign of good television, that, isn't it?
10:03And you didn't give anything away as well.
10:05Nothing.
10:05Very good, Jake.
10:07Very good.
10:07Thank you so much.
10:09And EastEnders continues on Monday at 7.30 on BBC One and iPlayer, and you can watch that special flash-forward episode on New Year's Day.
10:17Still to come, the wonderful Sarah Cox is going to be dashing over from her Radio 2 studio to tell us why good things do come in small packages with her brand-new BBC show.
10:25Oh, it's so pretty.
10:27And Amy Dowden will be helping us give an extraordinary head teacher the surprise of his life live on the show.
10:33Mm-hm, but he's not the only teacher we're celebrating tonight because, first, it's the turn of lecturer Lisa, who's been making a huge difference to her students in further education, as Matt found out.
10:49At Nescott College in Epsom, Lisa Charles teaches hairdressing to students of all ages.
10:56And you're going to blush up towards the roofs.
11:01She keeps her students a cut above the rest with an innovative approach to learning, combining technical excellence with compassion.
11:09Because of Lisa's unique approach to what she does, I'm about to hand her a Pearson National Teaching Award, Lecturer of the Year in Further Education.
11:20But she knows nothing about this.
11:21That's why I'm a little bit undercover.
11:23Of course, the college knows.
11:26I feel a disguise coming on.
11:27For many adult students, Lisa's classes represent a second chance.
11:35As an adult learner, it's always scary thinking, oh, God, we're going back to college.
11:38But it has actually been a breeze.
11:40Lisa has just been so supportive and, like, it's really changed how I've seen education.
11:46She's more than a teacher, isn't she?
11:48Yeah.
11:48She's a cheerleader, a counsellor, a therapist.
11:51And Lisa's results speak volumes.
11:56Last year, her classes had a 93% pass and an 88% achievement rate.
12:03Her dedication doesn't stop at the college doors.
12:06Lisa creates pop-up salons for young cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, bringing dignity and hope when it matters most.
12:14Her coming every month with students and being able to run these beautiful pamper sessions, and not just for our patients, but for their families too.
12:21And actually, it makes such a huge impact for them.
12:23Tell me how the patients respond to her as a person.
12:26We had a wonderful family whose little boy was being treated for acute myeloid leukaemia.
12:32Parents were due to get married, and so they moved their service and their ceremony into the hospital.
12:36So I contacted Lisa, and she came in, did a full makeover, and honestly, I don't think she'll ever realise what that meant to them.
12:44Craig is one of the students who volunteers alongside Lisa at the Royal Marsden.
12:48If I'd never met Lisa, I probably wouldn't like college as much as I do, and I'm back for my third year just so I can save Lisa for another year.
12:56I'm going to need your help.
12:58We're going to spring this surprise on Lisa.
13:00What I definitely am going to need is a new hairstyle.
13:04We can do that.
13:05Today, Lisa is teaching hair colouring using dolls' heads, but she also runs classes with live models, and that's given me an idea.
13:16Now, of course, what Lisa doesn't know is that she is, in fact, the gold winner.
13:22She is the Further Education Lecturer of the Year.
13:26So we've gathered together some current students, and we're going to surprise her.
13:31I have a feeling she's going to wig out.
13:36Do the knock, Craig.
13:39As Lisa's lecture hits full swing, Craig tells her that her client models have arrived.
13:46Lisa, you've got some clients outside.
13:48I'm going to let them in.
13:49Clients?
13:50Yeah.
13:51I haven't got any clients.
13:52And that's my cue.
13:58Lisa, it's not Claudia Winkleman.
14:01It's me, Matt Allwright, from The One Show.
14:05Did you not know about this?
14:07Because, Lisa Charles, you are the National Teaching Awards Further Education Lecturer of the Year!
14:18How do you feel about that?
14:27I know it's...
14:27I wish I'd done my hair.
14:29I'm just absolutely blown away.
14:31And I love you!
14:32Oh, bless you.
14:33Thank you so much.
14:36And I'm not her only surprise, because we have a message from a celebrity traitor star.
14:42It's her favourite programme.
14:44Hello, Lisa.
14:45Stephen Fry here.
14:46I'm someone who really values education, and so I'm overjoyed to see your efforts recognised
14:52so magnificently.
14:53Congratulations.
14:54And her favourite musician.
14:56Hello, Lisa.
14:57It's Jules Holland here.
14:58I love Jules Holland.
14:59I'm really pleased to hear that all of your incredible hard work, and I just wanted to
15:04say, as a thank you, if you'd like to come as my guest to the television programme,
15:09it would be lovely to meet you.
15:10I would love that, Jules.
15:12Congratulations.
15:12Congratulations, and well done.
15:14You've really done a fantastic job.
15:20Absolutely fantastic, and I appreciate you.
15:23You know I love all of you lot, and I do.
15:25I love who I work with, but I love Jules Holland more.
15:35Oh, thank you so much to Matt, and I'm with Lisa now.
15:39That's the first time you've seen that.
15:40I feel a bit emotional.
15:41Has it sunk in?
15:43No.
15:43I'm still extremely shocked.
15:46Oh, it was so lovely.
15:47Are you happy with your hair tonight?
15:49Because I know that was a big concern.
15:50Well, I did have to get off the tube, so it might not be as it was when I came out.
15:54Congratulations.
15:55Thank you.
15:56Thank you.
15:56It's thrilling for you.
15:57Well, Lisa's in great company because you will recognise some of these faces as the fantastic winners we've been celebrating all week.
16:05And soon, there'll be one more person joining the Gold Winners Club, and that's the Lifetime Achievement winner, Headteacher Lynne from Ysgol Gymrae, Carphilly.
16:14Now, Lynne really has dedicated his life to his school.
16:17Starting as a teacher over three decades ago and working his way up to headteacher, not only has he ensured that the school is regarded as one of the leading Welsh medium primary schools in South East Wales,
16:29he's also made a huge impact on the wider community, mentoring so many senior leaders in the region.
16:35Now, the judges described him as an inspirational leader who cares deeply for each and every pupil.
16:42And two people who know him very well, of course, are his children, Tom and Alice.
16:45Hello.
16:45Welcome both.
16:47Lovely welchi.
16:48Croeso.
16:49Now then, Tom, obviously your dad, this is a huge achievement, isn't it?
16:54Why do you think he's so deserving?
16:57And we've heard what the judges have said, but you personally, you've seen him on this journey.
17:01Yeah, his work ethic, his dedication, he's passionate, he's been in the school since he was 28, over 30 years, and he goes above and beyond at Escochmark, Carphilly.
17:11So, very proud.
17:12We can't wait to see you, Lynne.
17:13And then, Alice, as it happens, you're both teachers as well.
17:17You know, watching your dad must have been quite an inspiration.
17:20What did you learn from him?
17:21I think he's just taught us the importance of hard work and dedication,
17:25and I think that this award really does, is a testament to how hard he's worked throughout his career.
17:30Oh, my God.
17:31I just hope he's not going to be too shocked and surprised, that's all.
17:34Well, fingers crossed that he's pleased to see us all, because the time has come.
17:39Amy, it's over to you.
17:43Hiya.
17:43What an honour it is to be surprising Lynne, who has literally just sat around the corner with his lovely wife, Catherine, and Kate, from the National Teaching Awards.
17:54Now, they're in on a surprise, but Lynne actually thinks he's here, ahead of the awards tomorrow, and he's been invited here by Kate to celebrate all that he's achieved with his school, which is in my hometown of Carphilly.
18:07But little does he know, I'm about to surprise him, and I think we need to do it sooner rather than later, just in case he's about to leave.
18:14Right, are you ready?
18:17Hello, Lynne.
18:18Hello.
18:19You are live on The One Show.
18:23Please do not swear, and whatever you do, do not faint.
18:27Now, I know this must be a little bit of a surprise for you, but your lovely wife, Catherine, and Kate have brought you here.
18:34They've been a bit naughty, a bit on a false pretense, because actually, The One Show studio is just across the road, and we've got quite a big surprise waiting for you there.
18:44So, will you join me?
18:47Yes.
18:47Please don't let me down.
18:48Oh, fantastic, oh, brilliant, thank you, Lynne.
18:53Right then, ladies, we will be over there in a second, get those studio doors open, and I'll be bringing Lynne across.
19:02Deal can bow.
19:03Ready, Lynne?
19:04Oh, yes.
19:05Got a special surprise for you.
19:06Come on, let's do this.
19:08The studio doors are open, we are ready for you, Lynne.
19:12What a moment, the shock on his face.
19:13I mean, Lynne doesn't know what's going on, does he?
19:16That was perfect.
19:17Wait until he finds out he's won.
19:20Now, whilst Amy and Lynne make their way here, look who's joined us from her Radio 2 show.
19:24It's only Sarah.
19:25Hello.
19:28Now, Sarah, we're going to be chatting to you about your brilliant new BBC show, but first, it's been a couple of weeks since your epic Children in Need Challenge.
19:36I mean, what a woman.
19:37We just looked on in awe.
19:39Yeah.
19:39How are the legs?
19:40They're okay, thank you very much for asking.
19:42The feet are a little bit poffy.
19:44I just said on air, no, that they weren't happy being zipped up into lady boots for regular weeks of Crocs and trainers.
19:51But, yeah, thank you.
19:52We're definitely getting there, feeling much better.
19:54And it was worth it for, you know, £11.5 million for Children in Need from the brilliant Great British public and the Radio 2 listeners.
20:01We're so grateful, so it was worth every ache and pain and tear along the way.
20:06Oh, my gosh.
20:07Honestly, I still can't believe you did it.
20:09But Jude came from our Challenge squad and you were kind enough to have him with you.
20:14And he said how much you lifted him.
20:16And, you know, hopefully did the same for you because it was at that moment when things were getting really tough.
20:21Yeah, I mean, he was kind enough to put up with me.
20:24We should put it that way, really.
20:25And it was on the Thursday, fourth day in, fourth marathon.
20:30I knew I'd be struggling by then and I couldn't wait to see Jude.
20:33And the minute we met, we just really clicked.
20:36We got on so well right away.
20:38He's such a lovely lad and we had a real giggle.
20:40So, yeah, and then as it did a lot during the week, the heavens opened.
20:44So, we had to pause and put on waterproofs because, obviously, Jude's got to look after his legs, make sure he's safe.
20:49And, yeah, he was an absolute superstar.
20:51It was lovely coming together.
20:53Good.
20:53Well, congratulations.
20:54And, again, thank you.
20:55Oh, my God.
20:56It's such an achievement.
20:57Beautiful work.
20:58Thank you.
20:58Well, it's not just big physical challenges.
21:00Sarah's been taking on recently.
21:02She's also been celebrating the smaller things in life for her brand new show.
21:05And when we say small, we really mean it.
21:06We're talking like tiny, teeny tiny.
21:08We're stepping into a world where cherished places from the past are brought back to life in miniature.
21:15Each tiny model tells a big story.
21:18It's a beautiful project because it's all about love.
21:22The craft and skill of our team of miniaturists, yeah, I'll make it happen.
21:26Perfect.
21:28Shines through in every delicate detail.
21:33Oh, it's fabulous.
21:38Oh, Sarah, I mean, it's so pretty, the show.
21:46I just want to dive into all of the little buildings.
21:48It's so intricate.
21:49You've brought an example for us.
21:51There's even you out the front here.
21:54And it's exactly like you.
21:56Yeah, that's a little marvellous miniature workshop.
21:58The show itself starts Monday, two o'clock, BBC One.
22:03It's absolutely beautiful.
22:04And it's all about the miniaturists who recreate these incredible buildings.
22:09But not just any buildings.
22:10They are places where something really important happened for someone.
22:14And it could be just one little simple moment that changed their life.
22:19Or it could be decades living somewhere or going, visiting somewhere like a community centre or a library or a teaching hospital or a mine.
22:31So it's a really, really special show.
22:33The stories are gorgeous.
22:35Oh, so, so, so cool.
22:37It's so impressive.
22:38I mean, all this week we've been celebrating teachers for their teaching awards.
22:41One of the episodes that you do is dedicated to a teacher, isn't it?
22:45Oh, it's so good.
22:46So it's Kareem and we are recreating.
22:48When I saw the outside of the school, I was like, are we sure about this?
22:52Because it was like a 1970s grey brick sort of comp, sort of London comprehensive.
22:59And it was like, no, we're going to go inside.
23:01We're going to recreate a classroom.
23:03And what was lovely was that Kareem, in the 70s and 80s, growing up in London, he experienced a lot of racism.
23:08And he'd get chased on his way to school.
23:11He felt under threat.
23:12But school was the one place where he felt accepted and where he felt safe.
23:16And all the teachers were great.
23:17But there's one teacher in particular that he loved.
23:20And it was his maths teacher.
23:22And we recreate the maths classroom.
23:24So for everybody watching, there's that lovely nostalgia.
23:28There's history in there.
23:29There's personal stories.
23:30It's really emotional.
23:31But also, it's lovely nostalgia for us to look back at what a school would have looked like then.
23:36You know, with the blackboard and the chalk and the overflowing paper bin and all the posters on the wall.
23:42I mean, the miniaturists are such skilled artists there.
23:44They recreate these places.
23:46Yeah, the craft is incredible.
23:48You could just look for hours at it.
23:49But if you were to choose, Sarah, somewhere to be recreated for you in a little model, and it's hard.
23:56I've got a top five I've come up with this afternoon.
23:59What would you go for?
24:01Well, there's a couple of places.
24:03Maybe me dad's little whitewashed farmhouse, which, well, I said, it's still standing.
24:09I thought, I hope it's standing.
24:11He lives there still.
24:12As far as I know, it's fine.
24:14So this little house where I grew up on the farm.
24:17Or maybe I worked behind the back of my mum's pub, the pineapple in Bolton.
24:22And I think that would be great to recreate the main room because you've got a pool table.
24:27You've got a jukebox.
24:28You've got a fruit machine.
24:29But also the little packets of nuts on the cardboard.
24:32Yes, well remembered.
24:34Yes, exactly.
24:35The pork scratchings, all of that.
24:37Yeah, yeah.
24:37So, yeah, maybe that would be more fun.
24:39That's a good one.
24:40But you are actually given your own miniature to take home from the show, right?
24:43Yeah, I was given, Lee, one of the miniaturists, just made me a little sort of Christmassy shed, it was.
24:49It was absolutely good.
24:50I mean, on set, like, I was just scared.
24:54I just couldn't help messing with stuff because it really is something.
24:56It brings alive that bit of your childhood where, you know, playing with doll sets and just fascination with tiny things.
25:02And I was constantly like, oh, nearly knocking stuff over because I'm quite clumsy.
25:06So luckily I'm not in charge of any of the making.
25:09They need so much patience, don't they?
25:10Oh, my goodness.
25:12Well, do you know what now then, Jake?
25:13In Babacom Model Village in Torquay, right, they've done a miniature Albert Square.
25:18Wow, look at that.
25:19It's unbelievable.
25:20The detail is fantastic.
25:22There's the Queen Vic there, Minimar, the laundrette.
25:27Look at that.
25:27Look at his cafe.
25:28I think Ian Beale is there somewhere, isn't he?
25:30He's standing outside.
25:31He'll be there.
25:31But there's even a little Max Bramman.
25:35Yeah?
25:35He's there?
25:35Selling cars.
25:36Oh, look on a car lot.
25:37There you go.
25:38You've made it at last.
25:39Look at that.
25:40They've got the stance just right.
25:42I love the Model Village.
25:44Yeah, it's cute, isn't it?
25:45If they do a celebrity version of the show, get this one on there.
25:48I think you'd be fantastic.
25:49Happily come.
25:50I think you'd be great.
25:51Jake, a lot of people don't know.
25:52You've got an artistic side yourself.
25:54Not making miniatures, but you paint beautifully.
25:57Look, there we go.
25:57Yeah, thank you.
25:58Wow.
25:58Projects made O'Connor, you did that.
26:01So when it comes to artistic practice, do you think you would have the patience to have a go at model making?
26:05No, possibly not on that scale.
26:06No, my canvases are quite big.
26:08They're sort of like a metre square and I throw a lot of paint around, so I wouldn't have the patience for that.
26:12But, no, I love doing the canvases.
26:16Yeah, I started in lockdown and, yes, it's just a real passion, yeah.
26:20You've got a real talent.
26:22Yeah, it's perfect.
26:23Incredible.
26:23Oh, don't forget, you can catch Sarah's brilliant new show, The Marvellous Miniature Workshop, on Monday at 2pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
26:31Right then, it is time our VIP guest has arrived, so let's not keep them waiting any longer.
26:36Please give a huge round of applause for Headteacher Liz.
26:40Thank you very much, it's all about you now, congrats, oh lovely.
27:06Well, this is it, Lynn, it is all about you, a lot has happened in your life in the past 20 minutes alone, and this must be quite overwhelming.
27:13You're on a sofa with the wonderful Sarah, the wonderful Jake, you're live on The One Show.
27:17It's like a weird cheese dream.
27:18Exactly.
27:18You're all right.
27:19I am flabbergasted, I'm shocked, oh really am.
27:23Yeah.
27:23Well, you're really here.
27:24Well, you're in London, of course, because you've got the National Teaching Awards tomorrow night.
27:28Now, you know that you've been nominated for a big award, the Lifetime Achievement Award.
27:35Well, the thing is, Lynn, you don't have to wait until tomorrow night, because we can say to you this evening, congratulations.
27:45You have won gold.
27:47Well, Lynn, congratulations, this must be a real moment for you.
28:04Well, I am, I'm not usually lost for words, but at this moment in time, I'm absolutely lost for words.
28:09I've been watching the show all week, and watching you promote these Pearson Teaching Awards, and the one thing that's always struck me is, how do these people not know that they're going to get an award?
28:22Absolutely, and now I know how they don't know how they're going to get an award, because the way it's been done, I am shocked, but I'm immensely proud.
28:39I've been a headteacher for 22 years, I've been in our school for 31 years, and it has been a journey, and I've loved every minute of it.
28:50I'm so proud to be a headteacher of our school for Micah Philly, it's a great school, we've got great staff, and Amy was asking me if I'd been on television before, and I said yes, I was on television on Tuesday, because the school were heavily featured, we're the best attended school in the whole of Wales, with 98% attendance.
29:11Aww.
29:12Well, guess what, Lynn, it's the one show, we've got one more surprise for you, just one more surprise.
29:18One more surprise.
29:18Amy, who have you got with you?
29:19Lynn, we couldn't let your family miss out on this amazing moment, so I've got Alice and Tom, what would you like to say to your dad?
29:29We are so proud of you, Dad.
29:31Sian gafiach yadai en baos.
29:32Sian gafiach yadai.
29:34Oh, my God.
29:36Well, you know, Tom is a primary school teacher in a school, Derry Sant, and he's very happy, I'm very impressed with the headteacher in Derry Sant, looking after my son, and Alice is a humanities teacher in a school, Gartholog, and again, she's, well, she tells me she's an outstanding teacher, and I'm sure it feels.
29:56Lynn, lost for words, you are not.
30:00Congratulations, we've got a wrap for tonight, that is all we've got time for.
30:04Thanks so much to Sarah, Jake, and Amy, and of course, to Lynn.
30:08Yes, Lynn.
30:09Next week, we're going to be back with loads more brilliant guests, including Timothy Swald, Tommy Fury, Kylie, and Lee Mack.
30:15Have a lovely weekend, bye-bye.
