'Barry' star Anthony Carrigan tells THR on the SAG Awards red carpet about reuniting with the cast for the last time. Plus, he dishes on the first table read for James Gunn's 'Superman: Legacy.'
Transcript
00:00We've come to the end of awards season.
00:02Does it feel bittersweet being with the Barry cast tonight for maybe the last time in a while?
00:06It does feel bittersweet. More sweet than bitter, for sure.
00:10Getting to kind of celebrate this show over the years has been such an honor.
00:16And so to be able to kind of, you know, do it tonight, I mean, we're just going to have the best time ever like we always do, you know.
00:23Now, you have some really exciting times coming up.
00:25James Gunn posted a photo from the Superman Legacy table read.
00:29What was that experience like, sitting down with the cast, going through the script?
00:33I mean, very special. Very special. Very cool.
00:37We all had such a good time. I think we're on to something very cool.
00:42And, yeah, I'm just excited to keep going with it.
00:45Now it starts filming in March, right?
00:47I don't know.
00:48I think that's what Rachel told me.
00:49Does it? Does it? Rachel? Rachel? Who knows? Yeah, we'll see.
00:53I've heard such things, but you never know.
00:58Now, of course, we're here tonight at the SAG Awards, like I was saying.
01:01And I want to know, what role got you, your SAG cart?
01:04Okay, I did Law & Order Criminal Intents.
01:08I played the bad guy.
01:10No big deal, you know, started young.
01:14And, yeah, that was the first time that I got my SAG cart.
01:17That was when I got my SAG cart.
01:19It was my first time on Law & Order.
01:20I got it. I was so proud, so honored to just be a part of the Screen Actors Guild.
01:26And I've cherished it ever since.
01:28It's been a hard year for the Screen Actors Guild, given the strike.
01:32What's the biggest lesson you learned from the strike?
01:34And how have you implemented it, you know, in your return to work?
01:38That we're very powerful.
01:40That we, you know, that we demanded the respect.
01:43That we really made our voices heard.
01:46And that countless people just, you know, made a ton of sacrifices to, you know, to make it be known that we deserve what we deserve.
01:54And I'm really proud of the Guild and proud of everyone here.
01:58Everyone who, you know, was supportive.
02:00And, yeah, we did it.
02:02And given that we're celebrating acting and actors, do you remember at what point in your life you started claiming being an actor as your job?
02:09Like if a form said, write down your job, you put actor.
02:12I don't know.
02:13I feel like I probably, like, started doing that in high school, I think.
02:16Like, I was not there yet.
02:18But fake it till you make it.
02:20I don't know.
02:21Probably just in my early 20s, I suppose.
02:23For real.
02:24I love that.
02:24That's how you manifested, I think.
02:26That's how you manifested, you know.
02:27You know, you vision board that stuff, you write down, I'm an actor, and then you are.
02:31And who was someone early on in your life who championed your love of acting when you were in high school and made you feel like you could do this as a job?
02:38My dad.
02:39My dad was a big inspiration to me.
02:41He actually did act as well.
02:43And, you know, I think unconsciously just wanted to do him proud.
02:48And so hopefully I'm doing that for him, you know.
