00:00Unfortunately, my kids also went into this with a thought, and that thought was,
00:04you are not going to get anything done around the house.
00:07In the latest installment of his coronavirus-themed mini-log,
00:11Jimmy Kimmel is blasting the president and the Texas lieutenant governor
00:13and still has time for a little FaceTime with Dave Matthews.
00:17Kimmel kicked off his YouTube series by updating everyone on how quarantine has been going.
00:21The host explains that stories about Shakespeare and Sir Isaac Newton have been making the internet rounds,
00:25saying how some of their greatest ideas were invented while under quarantine during the plague.
00:30So far, all I've discovered is you can slide a laundry basket down the stairs, but congratulations to them.
00:37Later in the show, Kimmel touched on an idea that Texas lieutenant governor Dan Patrick floated around recently,
00:42quote, that old people are willing to go to an early grave in order to help boost the stock market.
00:47In a clip with Tucker Carlson, he's seen saying,
00:49No one reached out to me as a senior citizen and said,
00:51Are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for keeping the America that all Americans love
00:57for your children and grandchildren?
00:59And if that's the exchange, I'm all in.
01:01That doesn't make me noble or brave.
01:03No, it makes you an idiot.
01:05Kimmel noted how the Texas lieutenant governor isn't alone in this, quote, moron-a-thon,
01:09citing the fact that President Trump is also pushing for a back-to-work movement,
01:13referencing Trump's plan to have the country up and running by Easter.
01:16By Easter? That's in two and a half weeks.
01:20Even Jesus is like, Jesus, calm down. Let's think this through.
01:25Later in the show, Kimmel had a chit-chat with none other than Dave Matthews,
01:28who's currently at home in Washington.
01:30Matthews revealed that he's been getting used to this strange time and, quote,
01:34updates of our fearless leader putting both his feet and both his hands in his mouth
01:38and bouncing around the room like a spectacular monkey fool.
01:41Among the things Matthews has learned in quarantine is his patience.
01:45The fuse is shortened for everyone, but we all come back, thankfully.
01:49Matthews adds that the whole experience of being in home isolation has been testing,
01:53but cites his amazing family for managing to make it work.
01:56Nobody has run out of the house screaming with their heads on fire.
