00:00Venezuela's Vice President Delece Rodriguez defended the policy of sovereignty over the country's energy resources and denounced the United States' plans to control Venezuelan oil.
00:30Presidents in Maracastro assured that Honduras will hold free, transparent general elections backed by the sovereign will of the people.
00:43And in Guinea-Bissau, army officers seized control of the country on Wednesday after the November 23rd presidential elections.
00:55Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Habana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:08Venezuela's Vice President Delece Rodriguez defended the policy of sovereignty over the country's energy resources and denounced the United States' plans to control Venezuelan oil.
01:33Rodriguez stated that any country interested in Venezuelan oil must pay the prices set by the international market within the framework of cooperation and respect for sovereignty.
01:45The official also denounced that the historical objective of the United States has been to control the country's energy reserves with the support of extremist sectors of the opposition,
01:56which have entered into false agreements in order to head over the nation's natural resources.
02:03Finally, the Venezuelan Vice President urged young people to become the guardians of the future of the country's oil policy.
02:18And the Public Prosecutor's Office of Venezuela condemned the extrajudicial killings committed by the U.S. government in the Caribbean and Pacific seas.
02:26While offering a balance on the action of the Public Prosecutor's Office on its 56th anniversary,
02:32Attorney General Tarek William Saab assured as a public and widely reported fact that illicit substances do not pass through the Bolivarian nation.
02:42Moreover, he highlighted Venezuela continues its fight against drug trafficking and holds the record for the most cases prosecuted in relation to this activity in the world.
02:53In this context, the Attorney General further condemned the extrajudicial killings by the United States government in the Caribbean and Pacific seas,
03:00reiterating they constitute a violation of international law.
03:07In a special year, and also a special year of relentless attacks that the people have fortunately resisted,
03:23and the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, has said that we resist and are prepared for any scenario,
03:32but the first is dialogue, peace, and peaceful coexistence for the good of all Venezuelans.
03:40In that context, we are celebrating this 56th anniversary.
03:46Attorney General Tarek William Saab
04:06Likewise with the issue of drug consumption, that's impossible. Venezuela is relentless fighting drug trafficking.
04:14This is one of the countries in the world with the highest record of prosecuting, punishing, accusing and convicting people who traffic drugs. It has also been proven that almost 100%, pay attention, 100% of the drugs that leave Latin America for the United States, and the rest of the world come from the Pacific Coast.
04:38I will mention the countries, nothing to do with Venezuela, they are Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Brazil, particularly through the Parana River, nothing to do with Venezuela, less than 5% of that drug passed through the Colombian Guadira, seeking its transit to Venezuela, and they have been punished in the most severe manner by judicial and police cooperation, particularly with countries.
05:08such as France, the Netherlands, and Colombia, among others.
05:15And we stay in Venezuela. The President, Nicolás Maduro, met in Caracas with Japanese architect Regent Yamamoto, who was in the city attending the First World Symposium on Neighborhoods.
05:31At the gathering, the head of state expressed his gratitude for the proposals made by the architect and his team to strengthen the community movement in Venezuelan neighborhoods.
05:41For his part, the Japanese architect, who was awarded the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2024, highlighted the success of the urban model in Bolivarian territory and expressed his interest in collaborating to improve the well-being of the neighborhoods.
05:58In addition, Yamamoto remarked that the urban and community development project promoted by Venezuela is an example for the world.
06:05And in other information, Cuba commemorated nine years since the passing of the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
06:20At a ceremony held on the steps of the University of Havana, in front of the Alma Mater, at the very university where Fidel became a revolutionary, Cuban youth honoured the memory of one of the country's finest sons.
06:36During the event, several singers, dance groups and musical ensembles paid tribute to Commander Fidel Castro.
06:44The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic, Miguel DĂaz-Canel BermĂşdez, and other members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
06:52Fidel was considered by many as a father, advisor, friend, and the voice that provided reassurance when the people needed confidence in their leadership against the challenges and threats of U.S. imperialism.
07:05In this context, the diplomatic mission of Cuba in Colombia and members of the Solidarity Movement with the island paid tribute to Fidel Castro Ruz on the ninth anniversary of his passing.
07:25From the National University of Colombia, participants in the tribute, including young people and diplomats, highlighted how the principles and work of Fidel Castro focused on independence and the defense of Latin American identity continue to be a fundamental guide.
07:42In Colombian territory, his legacy is remembered not only for his leadership in Cuba, but also for his anti-imperialist vision.
07:50The tributes in Colombia join the events taking place in various parts of the world where he is remembered as a man who dedicated his life to the struggle for a more just and equitable world.
08:01And now we have a short break coming up to go away. We will be right back.
08:13We will be right back.
08:14We will be right back.
08:20We will be right back.
08:30transparent general elections backed by the sovereign will of the people.
08:35The president highlighted her government's commitment to democratic principles and
08:38institutionality. The head of state also emphasized the guarantees that her
08:42government maintains regarding next Sunday's elections, which also coincided
08:47with the defense of the conduct of the electoral process before international
08:52organizations. Samara Castro underlined that after 16 years, Honduras has been
08:58eligible for the Millennium Account, a United Nations program that provides funds
09:03and support to developing countries that meet strict criteria for transparency,
09:09anti-corruption, human rights and economic management.
09:19And just days before the presidential elections in Honduras released audio recordings
09:24link key figures of Honduran political and business scene with an electoral scandal.
09:29On Tuesday, local media circulated seven of the leaked audio recordings that bring to
09:35light an electoral plot to secure the appointment of the presidential candidate for the Liberal Party,
09:41Salvador Nasrla, as president in the upcoming Sunday elections. The audio reveals conversations
09:48between business leaders and magistrates of the electoral tribunal, a presidential candidate,
09:54an electoral official and the head of the national party's congressional block,
09:58as well as other people whose identities remain unconfirmed.
10:02And we stay in Honduras, an election scandal, as we were informing, unfolds after the leak of seven
10:15audio recordings that compromised key figures in the national party, including Consular Cosette
10:21López and party leader Tomás Zambrano. Let's listen.
10:24I am only interested in things that benefit me and especially my daughter. That is what interests me.
10:38It seems to me that you are more interested in getting out of the business and saying yes, no,
10:45things take time. As I told you, you can't do anything with three million lempiras, nothing,
10:51then putting more. I don't know where you can get it, but if you can boast and increase it to seven,
11:00then we could talk about it. But three million pesos is no use to me. I can't even pay for the car with that.
11:13But I don't know how I'm going to justify that money going out.
11:17You're saying seven million, when we're already over five. Sorry, three, which is what's possible.
11:25You, no, no, no. You tell me exactly what you want and I'll solve it.
11:32Or let your friend, the former mayor of San Pedro, help you because he has the power to do that.
11:40We have found out what happened to your phone. We already have a report, but we do not recommend
11:49making that report public because, because what it would give us, well, I'm giving you this advice
11:55because there is an intervention and it is true and everything you made, you said would be discredited
12:03if you made a statement with that report. I don't know if you want me to shred it or if we should
12:10talk in person again because all you sent me was the phone number and you log in on another phone.
12:16So we didn't achieve what we wanted to achieve, which was a complete analysis.
12:21We are a little concerned because we saw the situation today and we were thinking about how to
12:50support you and how to give you direct coverage with the latest program sponsored by Televisensor
13:04where there was an approach to give you the last participation because Natalie Asfura wanted it
13:11and I spoke to him. I want to be very sincere with you. I met with him in an untraceable way
13:18through a third person and we are somewhat concerned about the electoral situation
13:27and he indicated to me that you don't have enough people for the polling stations
13:34and that you had a confrontation. A call with Contrellas. I want to know how we can alleviate that
13:41situation. You know that right now you can be fighting publicly and I don't want you to make
13:47statements like that because you undermine everything we've had built.
14:17The Trump administration, according to police sources, two national guard men engaged in gunfire with a
14:24suspected shooter prior to being shot. The suspect was reportedly detained and transported away from the
14:31scene on a stretcher. The White House and office buildings in the area were reportedly put under lockdown
14:38with workers told to leave by their door if they wish to leave the premises. The shooting questions security
14:46of military operations in Washington where more than 2,300 troops have proven ineffective in containing the violence.
14:54And we go to Mexico. During her daily morning press conference, Mexican President Claudia Sheyman discussed
15:07her Tuesday meeting with Honduran President Xiomara Castro highlighting the gratitude expressed by the
15:13head of state for Mexico's support during her administration.
15:16She came, among other things, to thank the support that Mexico has given her during her administration.
15:29Remember that there is the Planting Life program, which will now have a second stage.
15:37Young People Building the Future, which was a vision of cooperation for development.
15:40The best way to prevent immigration is by investing and supporting people in their places of origin.
15:53Agreements were signed with Pemex and the General Electricity Commission.
15:58So she came to express her gratitude. And we appreciate her gratitude. They have an election on Sunday in Honduras.
16:06So she was very interested in letting us know that it is very important to respect the will of the Honduran people.
16:13There should be no interference or intervention from anyone.
16:21And the citizens of San Vincent and the Grenadines prepare for general elections on November 27th,
16:27while the main candidates carry out their electoral campaigns.
16:31Prime Minister Ralf Gonsalves is running for re-election,
16:34and polls show that he has a dominant lead of almost 70% over opposition leader Godwin Friday.
16:41During his campaign act, Gonsalves invited Jamaican artist Bob Kahn to attract younger audiences to his party,
16:49action that was imitated by his rival, who received harsh criticisms on social networks.
16:55If Gonsalves' coalition wins, the Unity Labour Party would be heading for its sixth consecutive term.
17:04And we have us a control break coming up.
17:10Then go away, because we will be right back with more information from the South.
17:25Welcome back to From the South.
17:26In Guinea-Bissau, army officers seized control of the country on Wednesday after the November 23rd presidential elections.
17:33Military officers from the West African nation appeared on state television, saying they had suspended the electoral process,
17:42closed borders and would be in charge until further notice.
17:45In this context, President Mourou Sissoko confirmed his arrest along with other senior officials,
17:52including the chief of staff of the armed forces, and described the action as a coup d'etat led by the army commander.
17:59The uprising comes after Sunday's presidential elections, before results could be unveiled next Thursday.
18:06In this scenario, let's recall, clashes near the Electoral Commission have been reported in the capital, Bissau.
18:19And the Democratic Republic of the Congo will launch a vaccination campaign against rubella and missiles to protect children aged 6 months to 14 years old.
18:29The President Feliz Tsikisedi welcome a delegation from the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization to launch the vaccination campaign that will benefit more than 17 million Congolese children.
18:42The missiles and rubella vaccination campaign will run from November 27th to December 1st, 2025, in various provinces of the country.
18:52In this context, the Democratic Republic of the Congo will also hold a polio vaccination week,
18:58joining forces to strengthen immunity, prevent epidemics and provide reliable and accessible protection to every child.
19:28And the Gazan Ministry of the Interior announced that Israeli forces killed more than 1,100 Palestinian civilians near distribution points of the so-called Gazan Humanitarian Foundation.
19:41The government party informed that the victims include 225 children and 884 adults, of which 32 are elderly people.
19:51The ministry also announced that 2,600 Palestinians were killed and 19,000 were injured between the end of May and the beginning of October.
20:01The Gazan Humanitarian Foundation is a U.S. organization comprising former military personnel and private security companies.
20:10And Palestinian journalists condemned the Israeli Supreme Court's ruling to once again delay the entry of international media into the Gaza Strip.
20:25The Palestinian Center for the Protection of Journalists indicated that since the petition was filed in September 2024,
20:33the Israeli regime has violated international law and freedom of the press by delaying access for foreign media.
20:40The Palestinian body points out that the entry of journalists into the enclave is essential to cover and show the humanitarian situation experienced by Gazans.
20:50On the other hand, the Israeli Supreme Court decided to grant the Tel Aviv government a 10-day extension to deliberate on the entry of journalists.
20:59The session will take place on December 4th.
21:09In compliance with the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, Israel identified the latest remains recovered from Gaza.
21:15In this scenario, meetings have begun to review the second phase of the deal.
21:19The identification of the remains took place while Turkish, Qatari and Egyptian officials met in Cairo to discuss the details of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
21:29The next phases include the development of an international body under the mandate of the United Nations that will be responsible for oversighting the reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave.
21:41Meanwhile, almost the entire Palestinian population remains displaced and dependent on humanitarian aid, which is becoming more and more insufficient every day.
21:51In other topics, China criticised Taiwan's leader, Lai Hsing Teh, on Wednesday for publicly siding with Japan regarding its recent statements.
22:09The spokesman for Taiwan's Office of Affairs from the State Council, Peng Qing En, accused Lai Hsing Teh of feeding off flattery towards Japan and engaging in acts of treason against Taiwan.
22:23He also warned Democratic Progressive Party authorities that any actions relying on external forces would only lead to disgrace, and anyone who betrays the nation would inevitably face justice.
22:36The statements followed recent Japanese remarks about Taiwan that have sparked sustained protests across the island.
22:43And we stay in China, but in other information, at least 36 people were dead and almost 300 remained missing after a fire that took place on Wednesday on several apartment buildings in Hong Kong, China.
23:03The fire spread across a complex of eight buildings where almost 5,000 people lived, many of them senior citizens.
23:10According to preliminary reports, the fire started on the exterior scaffolding of one of the towers, spreading rapidly to nearby structures.
23:20Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and called for rescue operations to act fast.

23:36As that it is considered the incident to be the most deadly blaze in Hong Kong in nearly three decades.
