00:00Well, let's just jump right in and tell me about your two new spots with AutoTrader.
00:06I absolutely think they're hilarious.
00:08And I love that smart kitchen you got.
00:10Well, thank you very much.
00:11Everybody loves the smart kitchen.
00:15The whole kitchen thing is just, you know, kind of a reference to, you know, how technology is making our lives so much easier.
00:23And I mean, that's exactly what AutoTrader is, you know.
00:26So we have a couple of spots going.
00:29Hopefully, it'll lead to many more.
00:31But I guess I'm excited because I just think it's very cool.
00:36It's cool to take the car shopping experience and personalize it like that, you know, and bring it pretty much into the palm of your hand, you know.
00:44So I think, you know, they're doing pretty amazing things with the way that they have kind of reinvented the car buying experience, especially for a first-time buyer.
00:55You never know, you know, what you want, you know, what you're looking for.
01:00And it takes a lot to get out there and run that strip of dealerships, you know what I'm saying?
01:04Definitely.
01:05So if you can kind of, like, minimalize that before you go out there, that's only advantageous.
01:10So I just, I think it's cool.
01:13Definitely.
01:14Especially after the year that we've had, like, it's so nice to just kind of have things in the palm of your hand when you don't really want to go out and do too much.
01:22Absolutely.
01:23I mean, there's a lot of risk out there still.
01:26There's just, you know, a lot of mystery, you know, and we don't want that to impede any further on, you know, our everyday lives and happiness.
01:37We just have to figure out a different way to go about it.
01:40And I think Auto Trader is providing an opportunity to do just that.
01:44You know, you can still go get what you want and maintain a safe experience doing it as much as you can, I think.
01:51Definitely.
01:53Now let's jump into some SNL talk.
01:56Obviously, the new season just started, and I'm loving it.
02:02Kim Kardashian was such a great host.
02:05What was it like just working alongside the queen, in my opinion?
02:11I mean, just hearing the thought process that Lauren was going through to get her on the show.
02:17And, like, I knew by the time he was telling me it was already a done deal.
02:21But he has a way of being, like, you know, you feel like you're involved in the process.
02:27And he's like, so we're thinking about this, and we're thinking about maybe Kim Kardashian.
02:30I had a lunch with her and her mom and blah, blah, blah.
02:32And once I'm hearing that, I'm like, oh, it's a done deal.
02:35Like, she'll be on the show.
02:36And it's all about whenever they set the date and tell everybody else, basically.
02:40So I'm always really impressed by his summer hustle.
02:46You know, like, a summer or two ago, it was the Eddie Murphy Christmas show announcement.
02:51And then before that, it was Sandler, you know.
02:54And those were, like, the two goats that hadn't come back to do it yet.
02:57And it was, like, this mystery of will they ever.
03:00And all of a sudden, Lauren just, you know, pops up with, like, yeah, I made those phone calls.
03:05And they agreed.
03:06And it's happening.
03:07So in the summertime, I'm always looking forward.
03:10Yeah, I'm always looking forward to how he's going to, like, just jump back in with the big, giant, like, move for the show.
03:17And, yeah, Kim was great.
03:18You know, she spent all the time we needed her to spend with us.
03:23And she couldn't have been into it.
03:25Absolutely.
03:26And your Skims dog was hilarious.
03:31It was great.
03:32I mean, shout out to our writers.
03:34You know, like, I thought that the show was incredibly funny from top to bottom.
03:39So it was very well written and very well taken care of, in my opinion.
03:44Definitely.
03:45Is there, are there any guests that you're really looking forward to coming on in the next, you know, several weeks on the season that you really are excited to work with?
03:53I mean, everybody.
03:54I'm sad I'm missing, you know, the days with Rami this week.
03:57You know, I think he's an uber-talented individual.
04:00And I think there's a lot to learn from a guy who can, you know, develop character like that.
04:05You know, especially since I have to do it, you know, multiple times a week if you're good at it for a season.
04:11And, you know, just, it'd be interesting to kind of watch his process and conversate with him about that.
04:18You know what I mean?
04:19That guy has won an Oscar and has continued to build amazing characters.
04:24And before that, he was in the Need for Speed movie.
04:27You know what I'm saying?
04:28So he's got so much versatility.
04:30And I feel like he's still a very, like, you know, feet on the ground kind of guy.
04:35So I'm just, you know, really anxious to get there and spend some time with him.
04:40And, you know, of course, my brother Sudeikis next week, I cannot wait.
04:44You know, he's one of the funniest people on the planet.
04:46So it's going to be a good time.
04:49It really is.
04:50I love Jason Sudeikis too.
04:52That's going to be a good one for sure.
04:54Absolutely.
04:55Absolutely.
04:55Now, I know, you know, every season there's always a question, like, is Keenan going to return?
05:01What is the future of your career at SNL?
05:05You know, just looking ahead.
05:06I mean, the only thing I can see, like, as far as goals that I have is to try to get to 20 seasons.
05:13And, you know, I'm inching, inching, you know, really close to it.
05:17This being like 19 and we're already off and running.
05:20So it's like, I would love that.
05:23And then past that, I don't really know.
05:25You know, it's already such a nuance to stay on the show this long.
05:30You know what I'm saying?
05:31So I don't know what makes sense past wanting to keep, you know, people happy or if, you know, time allows or whatever.
05:41And, you know, things start getting busy outside of SNL and stuff like that.
05:45So that's kind of all I know.
05:47Right.
05:47And, you know, comedy has really changed in the past several years.
05:51I would even say in the past, like, six or seven years.
05:56What are your thoughts on just kind of where we are today and the, you know, making people laugh and just being able to tap into your artistry, but not also, quote unquote, offend people?
06:10I mean, it's tough, you know, the more, you know, the more you should know, you know what I mean?
06:17So the level of responsibility on on comedians is very high.
06:22You know, it's not just, you know, gesturing anymore.
06:26There's like real consequence in people's lives when you kind of demean their existence.
06:32So I don't know.
06:35When I was growing up, it didn't seem like so detrimental to be the butt of a joke.
06:41Right.
06:42Right.
06:42Nowadays, it's just like, I don't know if it's sheer numbers or just violent, you know, violent, accessible kind of whatever it is.
06:51You know what I mean?
06:52But it's just a much more dire kind of feeling to it right now, you know, and I think, you know, a real artist is supposed to adjust to the times, you know, and also on the other side, there should be not so much, you know, jump to try to just get rid of people as opposed to teaching people.
07:13Like a lot of people are more so on the, oh, this might be a less than opportunity kind of a page.
07:19And I kind of prefer that page.
07:21You know, I don't like butting heads and I don't think a lot gets done that way.
07:25Me too.
07:26And then just your own show that you have, Keenan.
07:31Yes.
07:32I love Taylor Louderman.
07:33I have interviewed her multiple times through Broadway.
07:38She is awesome.
07:39What is next for that sitcom that you have?
07:42I think just that, displaying what an amazingly talented cast we have.
07:48I mean, our writing is definitely tight, you know, and we have great showrunners in place and stuff like that.
07:54And I think everybody knows their character now.
07:57So I think this season is going to be much less like fishing and what is the show going to be and, you know, what's it really like looking like and more so of a just now we're in, you know, fifth gear, basically.
08:11It's time to, like, you know, cruise the highway and see where we're going.
08:14Speaking of cruising, AutoTrader.
08:17Yeah.
08:18There you go.
08:19That's why they pay you the big bucks.
08:21Yeah.
08:22Did you know that they have a feature that allows you?
08:25No, I'm just kidding.
08:25But, no, it really is legit.
08:28I don't know what else I need to tell you.
08:30But if you don't know, like, all the prices are based on the Kelley Blue Book.
08:34So everything is, you know, pretty much everybody knows what they're getting.
08:38That's all.
08:39That's my job.
08:40I love it.
08:41You're great at your job.
08:42Thank you for taking the time to chat with me.
