00:06Thank you for having me. Oh, you're amazing. I heard that Sylvester Sorrell discovered you for this film. Can you tell us about this a little bit?
00:15Well, that's not entirely true. So Ryan Coogler discovered me. He had seen me in a film called Dear White People and we met at the Sundance Film Festival and Ryan was excited about me potentially.
00:24I came to meet with Mike. We had a chemistry test, which went well, I guess. And then Sly happened to see me on BET. I don't know why he was watching, but I'm glad he was because he immediately called Ryan Coogler and said, she's our girl. I think it's got to be her.
00:40And so I'm so lucky that little extra push, I think maybe sealed the deal. And this legend picked you and you said you weren't a musician.
00:46No, but I just, I had dabbled a little bit, but this was certainly my first foray into it. And so I'm so excited that they took the risk on me.
