Young Mazino talks to THR on the Emmys red carpet about 'Beef' winning big at the 2024 Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. Plus, he dishes on starring in 'The Last of Us' season 2.

00:00Beef has had a huge past couple weekends at the Golden Globes, at the Critics' Choice Awards, now you're at the Emmys.

00:05What has it been like for you?

00:07It's been a surreal wave that doesn't seem to have an end at the moment, but I'm just trying to keep surfing.

00:16It was also just announced that you're going to be on Season 2 of The Last of Us. Congratulations.

00:21How excited are you to take on that role?

00:24I mean, I'm so glad to be employed again and to have another job lined up after that long strike.

00:30And I'm so thankful to Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for their vision and allowing me to join a wonderfully crafted world.

00:37I've been a fan of the game. I'm a fan of their work. I'm a huge fan of the show.

00:43So this seems like a really miraculous next project to work on after Beef.

00:49I think that was my issue. After Beef, I was like, what possibly could I work on next?

00:54But I think I found a good comp, yeah.

00:56Have you gotten a chance to meet Pedro and Bella yet at any of these awards ceremonies?

01:01No, we've been in proximity, but it's madness at these awards shows.

01:06So I'm sure I'll see them around soon.

01:09Do you know when you start filming? It's sometime this spring, right?

01:13Yeah, it's ramping up pretty quickly.

01:15I'm heading out to Vancouver in a few weeks.

01:17And then I think February is when we start shooting.

01:20Amazing. And with Beef, many people are hopeful that there might be some sort of Season 2 with a new cast.

01:26It might become an anthology series. What are your thoughts on that and what have you possibly heard?

01:31Well, as far as I'm concerned, it is an anthology, so they will probably have a new cast.

01:36But I think the characters are still out there in that universe and they may return in later seasons.

01:42But I personally love the way Season 1 ended.

01:47I think that was one of the greatest ending scenes of all time, that finale episode.

01:51But I trust Sonny wholeheartedly regardless of whether he wants to do former seasons or different casts.

01:59He's a genius, so I trust him.
