00:13In 2018, Netflix created a spin on their popular psychological suspense drama, Black Mirror,

00:18called Bandersnatch, which let audiences choose their own storyline within the film.

00:23Netflix subsequently won an Emmy for the Charlie Brooker film,

00:26but also got sued by the children's book publisher that owns the trademark to Choose Your Own Adventure.

00:32Earlier this year, a federal judge refused Netflix's motion to dismiss the case.

00:36Then Netflix got aggressive with a bid to cancel the Choose Your Own Adventure trademark.

00:41On Monday, at a status conference before U.S. District Court Judge William Sessions III,

00:45the parties revealed that they had reached a settlement.

00:48In Bandersnatch, a video game designer prepares to pitch something he wishes to create.

00:53The character explains to his father that the game is based on the work of a fictional book,

00:57specifically mentioning it's a Choose Your Own Adventure book.

01:00Later, when Bandersnatch was released and audiences got the chance to take its story in different directions,

01:05commentators also noted the similarity in Gimmick to Choose Your Own Adventure.
