Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov dismissed media reports claiming that Russian and U.S. officials met secretly in Abu Dhabi, calling them “leaks designed to undermine Donald Trump’s peace initiative.” Speaking in Moscow alongside Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, Lavrov accused European leaders—especially France and Germany—of destroying the Minsk agreements and now trying to derail new diplomatic efforts. Lavrov praised Turkey, Belarus, and Hungary as credible mediators, while sharply criticizing the EU, OSCE, and Western media for spreading rumors aimed at sabotaging Trump’s proposed Russia–U.S. summit in Budapest. He also said Europe has “legalised Nazism” in Ukraine and continues to weaponize institutions like the OSCE for geopolitical dominance. Lavrov refused to confirm whether the Abu Dhabi talks ever took place, insisting Russia prefers confidential diplomacy over public speculation.
