00:00This program is rated G and considered acceptable for all ages.
00:15We're going to be doing a lot here.
00:16We got about 900 square feet of cabins, 650 square feet of decking, and we're touching every inch of it.
00:23We are ripping stuff out, opening the windows, putting it on the trailer so we can take it to the dumpster.
00:28So we've got to tear a deck down, we've got to take a ceiling out, we've got to reframe the inside where we're vaulting,
00:35we've got to put ceiling in all these bedrooms, we've got to redo sheetrock.
00:40What am I saying? We've got to do all this in eight days?
00:43This project was actually selected from NWTF members.
00:49Mr. Jones epitomizes the tradition of our hunting heritage.
00:53It was just absolutely fitting that he were chosen to have the bill done for himself.
01:00The basement flooding once in a while, our deck's starting to fall apart and that sort of thing.
01:06The biggest thing is with space for people to sleep.
01:10So we got this old CPVC pipe, and it's pretty well rotted.
01:15So I think we're going to go back and get every bit of it out of here, redo it, the peg's pipe.
01:21The excitement has worn off, the fatigue has creeped in.
01:25The crew is still right on track, but we also have weather coming in.
01:30So we've got to get some stuff done.
01:32Headed into day four.
01:45I feel pretty good, but I know that there's a lot of detail work to this build that's going to eat up a lot of our time.
01:53So we're trimming up the side of the door because the doors are a little bit big.
01:58The rough framing isn't going to work.
02:01So instead of deconstructing the rest of this cabin, we're past demo day.
02:05So we're just going to trim the doors.
02:07That's about a quarter of an inch to fit them in there.
02:10And yeah, so then we're going to hopefully get them in here without doing too much more damage to the cabin.
02:16So we've got all the house repiped, all the water lines renewed, fixed all the drain lines.
02:31I'm putting in a spigot right here.
02:33Hook it up, completely done.
02:36Next to the trim out.
02:38That'll be all we have left.
02:39Well, right now, we've got what I call back home a rat nest.
02:45This cord, we're getting ready to do with the deck out here.
02:48It'll take some time, but I know working together, we'll get in a rhythm and we'll get it knocked out.
02:55People are tired.
02:56You know, you're worn down physically.
02:59Health starts to kick back a little bit.
03:02You think you're ahead, and then you realize how far on behind you are.
03:05Tiny towns in the middle of nowhere
03:12You'd never hear about unless you've been there
03:16Little dogs on a big hat
03:18Keep in a train on the tracks
03:20Carrying the road on the back
03:23These tiny towns make the world go round
03:29Yeah, these tiny towns
03:32Renovation Hunters is presented by Baird Brothers Fine Artwoods
03:44They're wanting to make this kind of a little hunting staging area.
04:11I'm going to have the safe, a nice little wall control cart, put some stuff on, some tools.
04:16So, we've got plenty of the siding.
04:18We're going to run that in here, dress it up, paint it, and we'll be done.
04:23Here you go, buddy.
04:24Here's your 79 5X Alex.
04:26We're going to get on a shorty.
04:28Good, thanks.
04:28We're thinking we're on a pretty good pace.
04:34That midweek hits, you get a little slower, a little tired, and then you start doubting how far ahead you are.
04:42So, we're about at that point right now, a little worried about where we're going.
04:46And the weather has held off to this point.
04:49If it doesn't, we're in trouble.
04:50Another Forever Barnwood beam up.
04:57I only have seven more to go, and it looks great.
05:02I mean, the contrast between the Baird and the Forever Barnwood, they should be really happy with this.
05:09Let's see how many I can get up before lunch.
05:11All right, well, pal and I put these planks on, these deck boards on, and I'll tell you, it'd go pretty slow, wouldn't it, if we didn't have this quick drive?
05:32Yeah.
05:32Only way to go.
05:41What's happened is, where that window is at, I'll do my roof line.
05:58My roof is going to come down and break right over the top of that window.
06:02One cent and a half.
06:03I went the same as I did over there.
06:05Yeah.
06:06No, that's perfect.
06:07That makes everything a perfect 45 right now.
06:09But we will have to...
06:10Kevin just said that we did something perfect.
06:14Well, I don't have a lot underneath it, because I don't know what it would.
06:17Just take note of that.
06:19So I'm inside trying to put these beams up.
06:21Came out here to get some of our Simpson flags and get caught up in a deck conversation.
06:26Which is good, because, of course, we've run into a few little situations along the way that aren't as we had planned.
06:33But between Camper, Mike, Mr. Howe Schaefer, we got this resolved.
06:39They have a game plan.
06:40They're going to shuffle some material, move the trailer, bring the auger in here, and avoid the water line to the well.
06:47So keep your fingers crossed that we won't be doing any plumbing from the well or electric.
06:51You know, if you would have showed up to this, and I wouldn't have known who you were, James, I would have said, this is Jethro's lunchbox.
07:01Come on.
07:01This whole effort behind Renovation Hunters just continues to grow with all of our partners.
07:09Man, on this trip, we have the ultimate communications out here, thanks to our friends at Graybar and Jethro.
07:16That is awesome.
07:17So inside of here, we've got our Jethro gateway, which runs our smart blending technology.
07:23We basically take wireless or wired IP signals and blend them together to create a virtual network of networks that we manage for you to provide wireless connectivity from just about anywhere.
07:34We're out here where there's very little service, and they just brought some equipment to us that we get to keep on site that creates the greatest Wi-Fi, the greatest cell phone coverage.
07:46It's just stuff like that that these people want to get involved in to help us logistically.
07:51When we need something, we can get a hold of somebody.
07:55Eric, so I'm the kind of guy, I've got to get it fixed in my head first, and then we'll go figure out what the application is going to be.
08:00So my gathering, you were telling me there's an inside cone, this is that, right?
08:05Correct.
08:05So this is going to flush mount to the ceiling.
08:07Yes.
08:08Right?
08:09And this is going to be our exterior one, and this needs to be as high as possible.
08:12High as possible.
08:13On a peak, or at the very least, the peak, if not more than that, put it on a mast and get it up even higher.
08:19The higher, the better in a remote location like this.
08:21We're trying to get as clear a line of sight to a cell tower as we can.
08:24So here's the inside, and I believe for our main brain right here, we'll come over here to this little pantry.
08:35We'll build out something nice, mount that up in there, up towards the top, so that it makes pretty much maintenance-free cable running for the coaxials.
08:45And this is the main brain.
08:46This is amplifying the signal that came in from the tower outside.
08:50I think even I can figure this out.
08:51Inside antenna, outside antenna, I mean, it's all simply laid out.
08:55It is.
08:56It is.
08:56It's pretty simple.
08:57That is cool.
08:57So about anybody can do it.
09:00Got some more up.
09:01You got some more?
09:02Yep.
09:02Okay.
09:03Let's get them up.
09:04Grab this bottom one down there.
09:05Sir.
09:06Got a really good cut, man.
09:11Well, you learned from them.
09:15So we're throwing the Forever Barnwood up here in the bathroom.
09:20So this is a new look in the bathroom for us.
09:22We've got the red barnwood.
09:25Yep.
09:26So I think that's their color.
09:28So I think this is going to be kind of a signature bathroom for all the guests that come out here.
09:40Come on.
09:41What are you doing?
09:42All right, everybody.
09:42Come and get it.
09:44Food is ready.
09:47It is Taco Tuesday.
09:49We got sour cream.
09:49We got sour cream.
09:54What is that, man?
09:55It's been day four.
09:56It started out really rough.
09:58But I can't say enough, Dan.
10:00The crew just pushed through it today.
10:03Everybody's hurting.
10:04Some of us aren't feeling well.
10:05It could have been worse.
10:06We could have gotten rain today.
10:08But it was a good time just stopping here.
10:10We got a lot of stuff to do.
10:12But I tell you what, this place is looking fabulous.
10:19You know, most people would think, oh, it's just a simple deck, no big deal.
10:38But the little details and things that we put in and that Kevin designs into these builds,
10:43the way he designed this deck to come in together at a 45-degree angle
10:48is something that no one does.
10:50And most people would just square it, go fast, be done with it.
10:54Not renovation hunters.
10:56We do these things to the max.
10:59And that takes longer, takes more hours, but it's definitely done right.
11:05Kevin wouldn't have it any other way.
11:08We've had the floor guys come in.
11:10Thank goodness we were able to get a crew out of Meadville,
11:14come in there and knock out that floor, which is huge,
11:16because when you get somebody that comes in and does something with us,
11:21you know, it takes so much off our plate.
11:23If it's just one item.
11:25Yeah, it's raining.
11:44Renovation rainmakers at your service.
11:48So, we're tired, we're sick, and now we're wet.
11:52Don't you know it?
12:04Sky opens up, lightning coming down.
12:07It is a torrential downpour.
12:09I don't know how many inches of water in the basement.
12:11All the guys on the deck kept a stop.
12:13We're trying to push water out of the garage.
12:15You want to talk about a setback?
12:16That's a setback.
12:17This is going to put us back, boys.
12:18We're already hustling.
12:21We're already behind, and we had about a two-hour setback where it just started pouring.
12:27We got it into the basement, and that seemed like a good idea until there was four inches of water in the basement.
12:33All in all, it stopped raining.
12:34We were able to get the tools back up on the deck, and the efficiency kept going.
12:38So, the silver lining is, now we know why it stays wet in the basement.
12:43We have a grade issue, and it's probably from years of people riding four-wheelers through it and everything else.
12:49There ain't but one thing I've got to do, and I've got to get my son-in-law, Joseph Falk, on the phone.
12:54He is a wizard when it comes to grades.
12:57He can fix this problem, and he can fix it fast.
13:00Just got here, and it looks like I brought the weather with me, but that's not a problem for me.
13:16I'm down here in the basement knocking out the wall control section.
13:19It's going to be really cool.
13:20Got a setup going here.
13:21I have all this up.
13:22I got one more panel to put up to have that wrapped up.
13:25And then we got the masterpiece workbench here.
13:29We're going to get fully assembled tomorrow and have everything ready to go.
13:35We just got the flooring done.
13:38So, now we can get back in here doing some trim.
13:41Bad part is, I'm looking at the time and our schedule, and we've fallen a day behind.
13:47So, we have a lot of ground to make up.
13:50The crew's done with the deck, but now we get into the more complicated stuff.
13:56The roofing sits outside.
13:58Stephanie's been working on the trim here and painting.
14:01We need to get these bedrooms established so that we can start staging these,
14:05and then all hands on deck through the living room.
14:08And I've got a ton of electrical work to do here.
14:10So, we're behind them.
14:13You know we're behind.
14:14We're all exhausted.
14:22You know, five, six hours of sleep each night.
14:25Early mornings, late days.
14:26We're hustling.
14:28There's a ton of work yet to be done.
14:30But really, tonight we're going to get a chance to hang out with the family.
14:33That always kind of gives us a little bit of a boost heading to finish out the week.
14:37And then on Saturday, it'll be all worth it.
14:44Hey, guys.
14:475.30, man.
14:49Time to wrap it up.
14:51All right.
14:51Meet the family tonight.
14:53Early quit.
14:55Early start.
14:56Early start.
14:57But you guys deserve it.
14:59All right?
14:59What?
15:00The early start?
15:00Both of them.
15:02A good meal tonight.
15:03All right.
15:04Thanks, guys.
15:04Let's get cleaned up.
15:05Lock up.
15:06We got two.
15:07I got two pieces.
15:07Two more pieces.
15:08Way to stick with it.
15:09All right.
15:14We get to go to Cougar Bob's.
15:22Good food.
15:23Good fun.
15:24Lutzes are coming from season one.
15:27The Clears are coming.
15:28And the new family from this season, it's going to be awesome.
15:32I can't even tell you the excitement that I feel.
15:37My family, my kids, my grandkids, everybody is super excited.
15:41What a sense of humor these guys have.
15:43Not only are they working hard, but they're happy, and they're making it so much fun.
15:49I just envy.
15:49I wish I was there.
15:50Got the opportunity to sit down for about an hour and speak with the Joneses.
15:57Try not to reveal too much to them.
15:59Try not to slip on anything.
16:01But they're going to be excited on what we are doing here.
16:05There are special kind of people to do this sort of thing.
16:09I'm on a receiving end.
16:10I'm not sure they can truly feel what we feel, but it's amazing.
16:14It's amazing.
16:15It just takes a load off my mind.
16:17I don't have to worry about the future.
16:18I know it'll be a nice place, and I know that that will attract our kids to come to it
16:24and our grandkids to come to it because they're coming to a nice place.
16:28Meeting the Clears again, seeing them again is just great.
16:32Howe is so serious when he says we're not friends anymore, we're family,
16:35because you are stuck with us.
16:37If you're going to be on the show, get ready for us in your life forever,
16:41because if we see you again, you're getting a hug.
16:48Day six, and counting, we got too much to do.
17:03We still don't have paint on the inside living room.
17:06We still don't have trim up.
17:07We still don't have electrical done.
17:10Plumbing's not done.
17:12Deck is not done.
17:13Outdoor features are not done.
17:15There's a lot that's not done.
17:17It's not looking good.
17:20You know, we joke about it, but seriously, I don't see this happening.
17:29We're at that point now that we really don't even know what day it is,
17:32but we got a lot to do.
17:35Probably going to be pushing hard for the next two days, working late.
17:39We'll probably make it, but it might not be fun getting there.
17:43We got to clear some of this out so we can get this grade right,
17:46because we don't need another flooded garage.
17:48And now we're moving dirt.
17:50We have to build archery targets, a hanging station, so it doesn't stop.
17:55You've got the renovation, but now you've got excavation.
17:59Okay, so yesterday all that rain hit, and it all,
18:04there was four inches of water inside the basement in the garage.
18:06So we've got to divert that water.
18:08As you can see, that whole thing kind of drifts that way, even in the flat.
18:13But then you've got this that compounds the problem.
18:17Yeah, we'll burn it up, swell it, and then we'll regrade that,
18:21make sure that water's going away from that garage door to that ditch.
18:25Sounds like a plant.
18:26I think it'll work.
18:26Joseph's here, and he's not showing off, but he's showing off.
18:36To watch him run a piece of equipment, it's like watching a ballet dancer.
18:42He is so gentle on everything around him, but so quick and so efficient.
18:48It's unbelievable what he can do with just a bucket on a skid steer.
18:52Blows my mind.
18:53All right, down about an inch.
19:01Keep going.
19:03Hold still.
19:04One more.
19:05One more.
19:07A little bit more.
19:08Not on my head.
19:09Okay.
19:11You out?
19:11I'm out.
19:13All right.
19:15No.
19:16Let me see your light.
19:17You know what the problem is?
19:18It's the fitting.
19:19Let me see your light.
19:20I don't think everybody realizes how much electrical is still yet to be done in this house.
19:30Kevin has got a lot on his plate.
19:33He gets to a point on these builds where you see Kevin walk by, get something, work on this,
19:40work on that, and he's just got that thousand-yard stare.
19:43And you really don't want to ask a question, but you have to.
19:47You can tell he's zombied out right now.
19:50It's not just working on something.
19:52You've got people saying, Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, myself included.
19:55And you have to filter through questions and do the work at hand.
20:01Yeah.
20:02Yeah.
20:02Yeah.
20:09Now I see the reinforcements are here.
20:12The rain really set us back yesterday and our friends from the NWTF.
20:16Scott, you brought some of your friends.
20:18Brought a couple buddies today.
20:20Boy, when we needed an army, the NWTF, the National Wild Turkey Federation, came through.
20:26We have got a crew here with us, and the great thing about them is they've got a work ethic
20:31to them that matches our team, and they are hard at it.
20:35This could be the thing that saves the day for this build.
20:38The NWTF does a lot with hunting heritage and conservation.
20:44What a way to give back to the outdoors and create a lasting impression on a family so they
20:49can pass the heritage down to their next generations.
20:52And I encourage all those that are outdoorsmen to get back in some form of capacity.
20:57We want to do more renovations, and we need more volunteer help.
21:00We'd love to have you on one of these shows.
21:01So become a part of this NWTF volunteer army, and maybe have an opportunity like this to participate in.
