00:00This program is rated G and considered acceptable for all ages.
00:30We made it brother. Here we are, about to put the final chapter on season three.
00:40My gosh, you think you got everything?
00:42I think so.
00:43You sure?
00:44I might have missed one or two things, but I think I got everything.
00:48All right, we might as well.
00:49Get her unloaded.
00:53All right, watch it. I don't know what's going to fall out.
00:57And we have everything.
00:59Long ride to Mississippi.
01:01It's getting a little stiff in there.
01:03Tiny towns in the middle of nowhere
01:06You'll never hear about unless you've been there
01:10Little dogs on a big hat
01:13Keeping the train on the track
01:15Carrying the load on the back
01:18These tiny towns may work around
01:24Yeah, these tiny towns
01:28Renovation Hunters is presented by Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods
01:44Well guys, here we are.
01:45We're about to put the final chapter on this baby.
01:48Time to make a clean sweep.
01:50Finish the season up right.
01:52And we've got the perfect family.
01:54The Jones family is amazing.
01:56This guy is 70 years old
01:58Has probably taken over a hundred people on their first hunt.
02:02I mean, that is exactly our story.
02:04That's what keeps us alive for generations to come.
02:07And there's no more deserving people than them.
02:09And this sweet little cabin out here in PA.
02:12Oh my gosh.
02:13What do you think, Kev?
02:14Beautiful place.
02:15I see a lot of potential.
02:16It's cute the way it is.
02:18But y'all know what we can do.
02:20We're going to knock this out.
02:25We're going to be doing a lot here.
02:27We got about 900 square feet of cabin.
02:29650 square feet of decking.
02:31And we're touching every inch of it.
02:33Cabinets.
02:37They're going.
02:40Trim.
02:41Ceilings.
02:42Center.
02:43Staircase.
02:44Trent, if you can go ahead and take care of any of the water supply lines,
02:48that would be great so we don't have anything leaking when we do the demo.
02:51Pick a room and just let's get into it.
02:54Be safe.
02:55Let's get to it.
03:01The team doesn't waste time.
03:04We are ripping stuff out, opening the windows, shooting it out,
03:07putting it on the trailer so we can take it to the dumpster.
03:10It takes no time to have a heaping pile of what a little house like this can hold.
03:15The hardest part about this job is also, I think, one of the most appealing factors structurally,
03:20and that's the vaulted ceiling.
03:21We're taking out the flat ceiling and we're going to give them some more headspace
03:25for mounts, for decor.
03:27It's going to be a challenge, but with everybody here, I think we can put it together and make it happen.
03:31This giant deck on this place, it's not safe, so we've got to tear a deck down.
03:36We've got to take a ceiling out.
03:38We've got to reframe the inside where we're vaulting.
03:41We've got to put ceiling in all these bedrooms.
03:44We've got to redo sheetrock.
03:46What am I saying?
03:48We've got to do all this in eight days?
03:50We've got a lot of work to do.
03:55I'm not saying it can't be done, but I've got a feeling there's going to be some really long days.
03:59Kevin's got a great idea of what he wants it to look like,
04:03really open this place up, have better views of the outdoors,
04:07expanding the windows, natural light.
04:09So it's going to be a totally different scene when this family comes back
04:13and sees what we've done with this place.
04:19Wow.
04:21I'm at the right spot.
04:23What's up, Santa Claus?
04:25Look at what, oh my gosh, this is so awesome.
04:28It's like Christmas.
04:30Wow.
04:31Carrie Tannoli is coming in from wildlife farming with all the fun toys.
04:36Kevin, you got all your fun little tools.
04:41Look at mine.
04:43What's up, Mr. Tannoli?
04:44How you doing, sir?
04:45Habitat management, equipment at its best.
04:48You got the tractors, we got the equipment.
04:50It's literally one-fifth the time for me to put food plots in all across this country
04:55than what it used to be.
04:56Listen, my time management, I've got to time manage this place.
04:59You guys get back to your room.
05:01We're going to go play.
05:02You go play, that's it.
05:04Good seeing you, buddy.
05:07The habitat is going to be pretty cool.
05:09What's nice about it is our main food plots are fairly close to the cabin, and they've
05:14done a pretty decent job.
05:15They've got fruit trees.
05:17You've got lots of apples, a small orchard, which is a big attractant to wildlife, but
05:22the browse area is not where it needs to be.
05:25So we need continual food year-round.
05:28You can't bait in Pennsylvania during season.
05:30You can supplement feed during off-season.
05:32So we've got to have food here year-round for not only deer, but for those old wily turkeys.
05:38We've got to open up some of the forest floor where these birds feel comfortable.
05:41Being able to see.
05:42They can't get ambushed by predators.
05:44There's a lot of work to do, but I've got my buddy, Kerry.
05:47Baird is right on time.
06:05It's great to have them as our partner and sponsor.
06:08And day one, we're ready for Baird products.
06:12Dylan.
06:13How you doing?
06:14Good to see you, buddy.
06:15Good to see you, too.
06:16Welcome back.
06:18Did you bring Mr. Steve Stack with you?
06:20Why, hello, friend.
06:21The man, the myth, the legend.
06:23How you doing, babe?
06:24You guys leaving any demo for me?
06:25We are ready for you, believe it or not.
06:27We are ready to start putting some of the ceiling product up.
06:30I know you took some time off, but it's great to have you back on the set.
06:34Oh, it's great to be back, friend.
06:36This season started, and I had to step back a little bit.
06:39Wasn't able to participate in the first two builds, and I was able to come back up here to Pleasantville,
06:44and we've had some great cabin-changing experiences, and this one's no different.
06:51Supporting an NWTF, Baird Brothers Renovation Hunters shirt.
06:56That's awesome.
06:57Right above.
06:58No?
06:59Perfect for our build, right?
07:00Yeah.
07:01It's a little bit special.
07:02We're affiliated now with National Wild Turkey Federation, NWTF, and this project was actually selected from NWTF members.
07:13We're excited to be on the ground level as the first conservation organization to partner with a company like Renovation Hunters and provide this opportunity for a family.
07:23The NWTF's mission is the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of our hunting heritage.
07:30Out of the hundreds of submissions, we chose Mr. Ron Jones.
07:35I've been turkey hunting ever since I can remember.
07:40It's an obsession.
07:41There's some seasons because I like to take people turkey hunting.
07:44I like to see people get their first turkeys.
07:47Well, maybe I'm involved with five different hunts and five different gobblers get killed.
07:51Now, sometimes it's tough to find another bird.
07:53If I had to pick a number to the amount of people that he has introduced to the outdoors, it's got to be well over 100 people.
08:01When I see the grandkids or somebody new to turkey hunting getting one, it's not so much the fact that they shot the turkey.
08:08I just love hearing their talks afterwards.
08:11That's the good part because I know then that they're kind of hooked like I am.
08:16Mr. Jones epitomizes the tradition of our hunting heritage.
08:21It was just absolutely fitting that he were chosen to have the bill done for himself.
08:28In our cabin over the years, I know we have a problem with the basement flooding once in a while.
08:34Our deck's starting to fall apart and that sort of thing.
08:37The biggest thing is with space for people to sleep.
08:40There are times where we've had as many as 15 people here for a weekend and things are pretty tight.
08:46Renovation Hunter's improving that camp means a lot because the camp will last a lot longer than perhaps we anticipated.
08:55Hey! All right. What's in there?
09:01Demo time, day one. We get the ceiling ripped down and we're about to take out these windows.
09:07And as we're pulling out the windows, ants are coming out.
09:11Woo!
09:12So we demoed a little bit more window than we had originally planned.
09:17There they are. I won't play anymore.
09:24Hey, boss.
09:25What's going on, kid?
09:26We're playing wild animals with these carpenter ants.
09:29Carpenter ants mean we have water. Water means we have some issues on the outside.
09:35So now we've got to figure out what's happening, where it's coming in, and fix whatever's gone wrong.
09:42The good thing is we're putting new windows in here.
09:44So when we put the new windows in, we can flash properly across the top.
09:49That'll stop that.
09:50So the worst thing now is just to kill these things off.
09:53I have some spray in the truck.
09:55I'll pull the insulation down so you don't get all itchy.
09:58Thanks.
09:59And I'll let you spray to them. How's that?
10:01I love murdering ants.
10:02Okay.
10:03Let's do it.
10:11I was extremely nervous about 2 o'clock, but now we're coming to the end of day one,
10:16and I feel like I can relax a little bit.
10:19The crew absolutely turned it out.
10:22They always impress me on how much work they can get done.
10:28Hey, guys.
10:29Let me have you for a second.
10:31Come on in.
10:34Listen.
10:35It's hot.
10:36I'm tired.
10:37I know y'all are tired.
10:38I say we're going to get all the windows set.
10:40I'm saying we set those two.
10:42We board these two up tonight.
10:44Any objections?
10:45Nope.
10:46All right.
10:47I'm all in.
10:48I'm good with it.
10:49Let's get those two set.
10:50We're going to go eat something.
10:51We'll do a 7 o'clock start tomorrow.
10:53It's going to be another long one.
10:54We've got some catching up to do, but, I mean, we did awesome.
10:58Be proud of yourselves.
10:59Just found out that we're short at half the kitchen cabinets, but we'll worry about that
11:04tomorrow.
11:05We'll figure it out.
11:06Thank you, guys.
11:07Heck of a day.
11:08You guys really turned it out, man.
11:09We're proud of you guys.
11:10Turn around and look at what y'all did.
11:12Man.
11:13Awesome job, guys.
11:14Good job.
11:15Mr. Kev.
11:16Hey, ma'am.
11:17So, uh, how bad a place are we with these cabinets?
11:22Until I can get a hold of somebody and find out what they have in stock, that's at a standstill,
11:29which means I can't set the window because I want to set the window centered on the vanity.
11:37And if they don't have the upper cabinets that I need to match the lower, yeah.
11:42Logistically, we got any more problems that need to be worked out?
11:44I mean...
11:45We've managed to solve everything so far, but it's only 7 a.m. second day.
11:49Oh, yeah.
11:50Yeah.
11:51We've managed to solve everything so far, but it's only 7 a.m. second day.
11:54Yeah.
11:55Yeah.
11:56Yeah.
11:57We've managed to solve everything so far, but it's only 7 a.m. second day.
12:00Yeah.
12:01Yeah.
12:02Yeah.
12:03Yeah.
12:04Yeah.
12:05Yeah.
12:06It's gonna be a long one tomorrow.
12:08All right.
12:09I'll check back in.
12:10All right.
12:11Hey, two things.
12:16We're lucky, because we're gonna put a lot of seed in the ground really quick, get that
12:20green cover seed in there.
12:21It's got all that sorghum, millet, all that, you know, good seed, head tops on them.
12:25So, I think we'll keep up with the plan you started on yesterday.
12:30I'll start planning, if you'll get in there, and start opening up some of the bottom here,
12:34just so the turkeys can see better coming through this timber, it's gonna make for a more conducive
12:38area for them when it comes to hunting.
12:40Right.
12:41They left us a good footprint.
12:42Let's just make it bigger.
12:43Yeah, absolutely, brother.
12:44What caught me right away with this build was the amount of draw.
12:47What I mean by that is the amount of land that draws into these areas that we created down here.
12:52You're pulling from gigantic woods.
12:54There's not a lot of food.
12:55There's a lot of ferns.
12:56There's a lot of probably nuts and berries, but there's not a lot of crops.
13:00So, by creating a food plot in the area that these people had mowed out with the apple trees
13:04that are already existing, I think the draw is gonna be huge for all the game, deer, turkeys,
13:10even some of the game birds that they have here.
13:13Typically, we just wanna come in and clean out the shooting lanes, take out any trees that
13:18might be obstructing views of existing stands.
13:21You don't wanna come in and change everything that these people have.
13:24We kinda selectively cut out stuff and make it as simple as possible.
13:30We got one 88 and a half.
13:33We got one coming.
13:34I'll take it.
13:35Please.
13:36It's day two now, and Adam, myself, and Stephanie are gonna jump on the kitchen ceiling.
13:41So that has to get done so that then Kevin can put cabinets in.
13:45Meanwhile, on the other half of this large open floor plan that we've created by taking out that
13:50middle space, another three or four guys in the crew are vaulting the ceiling in the living room.
13:55106-3-8.
13:57They have to finish that, so when we finish the kitchen ceiling, we can jump on the ceiling on the new vaulted ceiling.
14:05It seems like on the spot boys, camper, myself, little camper, and Mikey, we usually get those heavy-duty jobs,
14:11and we knock them out pretty quick.
14:13All windows, all doors are put in, and here we are, day two.
14:17We moved right along to building a vaulted ceiling.
14:21Oh, vaulting this massive ceiling today, it's real easy, guys.
14:26Super technical.
14:27Cut, rip, take all the heavy crap out.
14:31Turn around, carry all the heavy stuff back in, bang, hammer, screw, put it back up, done.
14:40Easy.
14:41It comes with the on-the-spot guys, you know.
14:45They're Florida boys, so don't hold them against them.
14:48But you think they're heavy lifters?
14:50My shoulders are tired if you catch my drift.
14:53The smartest move is to stay off the ladder.
15:00This way, everything that's wrong up there, and they get blamed for, you just become the major guy.
15:06You just run nails and wood, and you're in the safe zone.
15:10Is that gun heavy or something?
15:12Right away, I hopped in with Kyle.
15:29We instantly got to work on getting these new stairs put in, cut out, and filling in and repairing the old stairs where they used to be.
15:37And so far, it's going pretty smooth.
15:40We've got a block wall.
15:41Here we go.
15:42We need to go that way, about about six inches.
15:46I've done a lot of staircases at home, but it's always new construction.
15:49Got a blueprint, got something to go off of.
15:51But now that we've already got the old staircase out, we're starting to get into this new one.
15:55It's coming together a little bit.
15:57We had a few things to deal with, some electrical stuff, some plumbing, HVAC.
16:01We couldn't move all that stuff because it's gas, it's vented to outside.
16:04We kind of finagled a few things, moved it around a little bit, made a few adjustments.
16:09But they're going to be really happy with it, and it'd be actually functional for them to be able to use.
16:20So we've got this old CPVC pipe, and it's pretty well rotted.
16:26So I think we're going to go back and get every bit of it out of here, redoing the PEG's pipe.
16:32We won't have to worry about the water lines busting.
16:35Our goal is to make it last for generations for kids to get out here and be able to do their thing.
16:47Hey, stranger.
16:48What's up, buddy?
16:49Wow.
16:50Let me tell you the good news before I get to this good news.
16:53Habitat's done.
16:54Already?
16:55Yeah.
16:56So you get five days of me now?
16:58Already?
16:59Oh, wow.
17:00This looks so good, that vaulted roof.
17:03And then the staircase disappeared here, reappeared there.
17:08No obstruction.
17:11Oh, the windows make the whole thing look a lot better.
17:14Yeah.
17:15They really do.
17:16So we're going to make sure that they see a lot of animals because there's plenty here.
17:19This is Pennsylvania.
17:20Yeah.
17:21Hey, take a look.
17:22This deck is going to disappear tomorrow.
17:24We're going to strip this off tomorrow.
17:26Our Simpsons stuff is going to show up so we can properly attach this deck because it's a little loose.
17:31Yeah.
17:32It's loose and I'm hungry.
17:33I'm hungry too.
17:34Let's go get something.
17:35All right.
17:46Morning.
17:47Morning.
17:48Morning.
17:49Y'all look good this morning.
17:50I always look good.
17:53Hey guys, Kev's out getting some cabinets, we hope, to solve our problem in the kitchen
17:59that we have from our supplier.
18:00What's your two jobs this morning?
18:02Rip down the deck.
18:03Okay.
18:04I want two people working on the ceiling in the living room, starting to put that back
18:09together.
18:10Make your captain happy when he gets back.
18:12Well guys, let's get rocking.
18:13Time to go.
18:14Let's have a great day.
18:15All right.
18:16Day three chaos here.
18:25Porches are coming off, more trim and ceilings going up, there's stairs going in the basement
18:30and there's some bad weather coming in too.
18:33And we know we got to get outside stuff done so we can get everybody inside here real
18:36soon.
18:37Whoa, whoa, whoa.
18:38Hey, you can't rush this.
18:39Easy, easy.
18:40All right, go.
18:42Y'all see Kerry on here all the time.
18:45But what you don't realize is this ain't his job.
18:48He's not supposed to be hauling off deck materials, fixing roads, working on the driveways, removing
18:55stumps, whatever the case may be.
18:56But it's the kind of guy he is and it's the kind of company Wildlife Farming is.
19:01They pitch in, they know this is a great humanitarian effort and that it is a great cause.
19:06They're all outdoorsmen, they're all sportsmen, so they get it.
19:10Wildlife Farming, teaming up with Renovation Hunters has been probably one of the best
19:17matches made in heaven.
19:18We fit with what they're doing and what we offer.
19:21And I think it also has shown the guys at Renovation Hunters that having the right equipment
19:27does speed the job up.
19:29It does free up extra bodies to move on to other projects.
19:36We're on day three and day three is one of those points where people are already starting
19:40to get tired.
19:41But the thing that keeps us going, especially me, is thinking about what we're going to do
19:47for this family and the look on their face when we reveal it to them.
19:52When we were selected, we pulled over and we talked to Hal and what he was saying, we just
19:59got so emotional.
20:00We both started crying and we got off the phone with Hal and we're just looking at each other
20:04like, do you believe this is going to happen?
20:07But just the anticipation of what they're doing and how we're going to feel when we see
20:11it.
20:12I mean, we just can't even imagine.
20:15I would just be happy to have a new deck or maybe a new window in the kitchen.
20:20But I'll be happy with whatever I see and it'll be a blessing to all of our family.
20:25The excitement has worn off.
20:27The fatigue has creeped in.
20:29The crew is still right on track, but we also have weather coming in.
20:34So we got to get some stuff done.
20:36This place is really starting to excite me on what the finished product is going to look
20:48like.
20:49Are you ready, Alex?
20:50Yep, I'm ready.
20:51Guns on.
20:52Yeah.
20:53It just goes over top of that one.
21:13Wow!
