00:00This program is rated G and considered acceptable for all ages.
00:15The gentleman that owned this property just passed away in January.
00:19He says it's totally paid for.
00:21All you got to do is pay the taxes.
00:23It's here for generations to come.
00:25Hey, buddy.
00:26You ready for floor?
00:27I'm ready for floor.
00:29I'm ready for counters.
00:30I'm ready for shower.
00:31I'm ready for stone coat.
00:3312,000 plus pounds of lime is down.
00:36We are now moving on to the next phase.
00:39We are drilling seed.
00:40Hopefully a couple days we'll be out.
00:42A couple days?
00:43Yeah.
00:44We want everybody to be able to shoot from this, kids especially, right?
00:47This is where they're going to learn gun safety.
00:49Let's make them a shooting range.
00:51Can you get on line?
00:52We need shooting targets.
00:54Let's just do redneck Santa Claus and just load them down.
00:59Hold on, man.
01:01You said you had a celebrity coming?
01:03Yeah, look at him.
01:04Man, y'all are back off the meat path right here.
01:07Jackie Bushman.
01:08Jackie Bushman.
01:09I forgot my cowboy hat and my turtleneck.
01:10Oh, that's Jay Gregor.
01:11I'm here for anything that I can help Hal and the crew do from cleaning up, cooking, build
01:23target, run a tractor, or if anything else, maybe just a coordinator of morale or make
01:32it worse.
01:33Okay.
01:33All right.
01:34This looks like my station over here.
01:36Hey, and we got the man himself here, Mr. Chris Harris from Metabo.
01:40What's up, Chris?
01:41How's it going?
01:41HPT.
01:42Tell them what that HPT stands for.
01:43Hal's Powerful.
01:44Come on.
01:45Just long as we're clear.
01:46Long as we're clear.
01:47See what we're doing over here?
01:49Got a little treated lumber.
01:50Going to set these things out, and we're going to give them some targets to shoot.
01:54Holy cow.
01:54You can shoot to Alabama from right here.
01:57You got that right.
01:58I'm ready, man.
01:59I'm ready to put some benches together.
02:00All right?
02:01Yeah.
02:01You guys take him where he needs to go.
02:04We've got it.
02:05Tiny towns in the middle of nowhere.
02:08You never hear about unless you've been there.
02:13Little dogs on the big map.
02:15Keeping the train on the track.
02:18Carrying the load on the back.
02:20These tiny towns, man.
02:23The world don't rain out.
02:26Yeah, these tiny towns.
02:28Renovation Hunters is presented by Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods.
02:40We're moving the water over to here.
03:08Going back with the water heater here.
03:11That way it gives wall control more room on this wall.
03:14Kevin's going to put a panel over here.
03:16New panel.
03:17And we'll have a new water heater.
03:19Functioning washer and dryer.
03:22And the house won't burn down because it'll have a new electrical panel.
03:26My first task has been to help with the guys who build the cool tree stands to help build
03:42a nice, you know, shooting range to help build these frames and get these metal gongs hung up.
03:47So, Waddy, how did old Howell convince you to come over here?
03:53Well, because he realized Bill Jordan didn't know anything about this big thing.
03:56And it was all he had left.
03:59So he was desperate.
04:01This is right in my neck of the woods.
04:03So just a short drive over from Georgia to come over here and hopefully be able to help
04:08out a little bit, you know.
04:09Everybody, you can tell that have these camps like this.
04:11They got full-time jobs.
04:12So when are you going to have a chance to put together the team to come out and do this
04:16stuff?
04:16So to get it done and they can quickly start enjoying it.
04:19And even meeting a family, you can tell, man, what some great people.
04:23Just good folks, bro.
04:24Good old people.
04:25This was our touchstone.
04:27Our whole family's been in a state of flux since Daddy passed away.
04:30And Mama keeps saying, I want the land to be something that can benefit you all, that
04:35you can all have fun and be together.
04:37It's just a great, great place to gather.
04:40My boys and everybody, I think, loves to hunt, but they really love to talk about it more than
04:45the actual hunt.
04:46And then the fun talk about what happened.
04:48That's what a camp is all about, getting together, fellowshipping, eating the course, and
04:52then getting excited about the hunt.
04:55It's going to be wonderful to have a place where we can all be comfortable.
05:02My children don't live real close in the area.
05:05I think it's going to be wonderful to have a place where they can come and be able to
05:11stay for several days and, you know, make it worth their trip to come here.
05:15They didn't make that up in cardboard.
05:25All right, Alex, let me know if I can get that.
05:28Hey, buddy.
05:32Where did you get here?
05:34A little while ago, just in here enjoying the AC, doing some installing.
05:38Good to see you, man.
05:39I didn't think there was room for another person in here, but we're fitting them all in.
05:42Come on in, man.
05:43No.
05:43What you think?
05:44Yeah.
05:45Perfect.
05:45We got a laundry room set up going on over here, and we got your traditional renovation
05:50hunter set up over here for power tools, streamlight charging, whatever they want to do, man.
05:55They'll have it all.
05:56Okay.
05:56This is the true use of utility closet right here.
05:59Why don't the two of you work on that electrical then?
06:01I'm going to go back inside where the AC is working.
06:03I know.
06:03Yeah.
06:03Well, I'll put that in next.
06:05All right.
06:05No, this will be great, man.
06:06I think the family will really enjoy having the utility of it all.
06:10They can use that.
06:11They can hang their hunting gear up in here, everything.
06:13Yeah.
06:13Absolutely.
06:14All right, guys.
06:15Let's go, boss.
06:15Good job.
06:21My buddy, Benny Bostic, turned me on to a lady called Angie Cole.
06:26She's a world-renowned painter.
06:28One of her paintings was just on display in Times Square in the same spirit that all these
06:35people around here have deep in their souls.
06:38She offers to do a painting for this build, and I was, like, blown away.
06:43I'm really excited about being a part of the family's future.
06:46For myself, we try and get our children outside and spend a lot of time, and amazingly, three
06:53hours will go by, and it seems like 30 minutes, and we have all those memories, so I'm glad they're
06:58getting those.
06:59She actually took dirt from the creek banks and grass from the creek banks and actually
07:04blended it in with the paint and the trees.
07:08I'm adding a little bit of texture here by using some of the brush from the area, and
07:14I'm mixing it with a gel medium and some paint.
07:20Well, look who it is.
07:21This has got to be Miss Angie Cole.
07:24Hi.
07:24Oh, what do we got?
07:28Woo!
07:28This is absolutely amazing.
07:35This is one of the favorite places that this family shares with the kids.
07:39They actually go down there, they fish off the bridge, and then they do a shore lunch.
07:43They cook right there on the bridge, and the kids eat fish straight out of the creek and
07:48river, and they've told me a hundred times it's one of the kids' most favorite thing to
07:52do, and you captured it amazingly.
07:56So, Kev, what do you say?
07:57Let's find a place to put this.
07:59I really enjoyed getting to meet the cast and crew.
08:01Everybody has been great.
08:03It's been a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see the looks on the faces of the family when
08:07they first see the painting.
08:08There's only one yard, right?
08:25Man, that looks good.
08:27Yeah.
08:28But yeah, if you can just pull more of that side, you're doing a great job.
08:34Oh!
08:34Come on.
08:36Look at that.
08:37Look at that.
08:38I knew y'all.
08:39I mean, they don't get Dead Center more than that.
08:41That's better than county work right there.
08:43I don't want to take credit for this, but I mean...
08:45Your guidance has been key to this whole project.
08:50I can only imagine how excited and appreciative this family is going to be, and I think that
08:55that is what this show is all about, and it was as cool as I had to choose to be a small
08:58part of it just for a couple days to help out over here.
09:04All right.
09:06Sweet.
09:07So we've got to cut sink, cut trim.
09:17Yeah.
09:18And then we're done.
09:18And then we're done.
09:19We're done.
09:19I'm going to cut in the sink, cut.
09:31I'm going to cut in the sink, cut.
09:43Okay, so we're on Friday, day seven of the build here.
09:51We're at a point where it's time that Stephanie here gets to fulfill her dream of running the
09:56brush monster.
09:57Let's see what we can tear up with this thing.
10:06Now what?
10:07Keep going.
10:07All right, stop.
10:08All right, now curl out and drop down.
10:12Push to the window, and now drop down.
10:15Now go down.
10:15She needs a little more work.
10:31She'll eventually get there.
10:34She's gotten better as it went on, but we've been out here for at least two and a half hours
10:38now to cut down one small sapling.
10:42Hey, the bright side is the machine has held up wonderfully.
10:50Yeah, just creepy down there on that.
10:52These are big enough.
10:53It should roll all right on there.
10:55Just turn the brakes off.
10:56We can muscle it around.
10:58You're good.
10:59We got time to rebuild it.
11:00Come on.
11:00All right, right there.
11:05Yeah, we're good.
11:06Go for it down.
11:07Yeah, go ahead.
11:08There we go.
11:10There's a patent pending on it, so this is a micro version of what we do with our commercial
11:15offsets.
11:15With the big ones?
11:16So this is actually, there's 2,500 degree insulation in here.
11:19So these are full pork bellies from Colorado boxed beef.
11:24We're going to make y'all some meat candy today.
11:26Pork belly burn in.
11:30Pork's out of the way.
11:58Yep.
11:58I know you're not good enough.
11:58What'd you go and do it?
11:59We have never been so ready, and I can't wait to get this family into this new cabin
12:07and see all the amenities and everything that's been created.
12:17Well, hello.
12:18Hi.
12:19How's everybody doing?
12:20Awesome.
12:21We need to get you guys blindfolded.
12:24Give me our lucky six that is coming with us.
12:28That's us.
12:29All right, Kevin.
12:30Let's get them wrapped up.
12:31Put them blindfolds on them.
12:33Come on.
12:34Little step, little step.
12:35Big step up here.
12:36Get in the door.
12:37Come on in.
12:38One, two, three.
12:46Wait, look.
12:47We're all away.
12:52For a minute, I was, like, stalled.
12:54I was like, ooh, they don't like it.
12:55But it was obviously shock.
12:59Look how bright it is.
12:59This is your house.
13:01Gosh.
13:02Look at the floor.
13:02First of all, though.
13:03Look at the floor.
13:03Oh, my gosh.
13:04Not carpet.
13:04Look at the floor.
13:05It's not carpet.
13:07They couldn't take in all the changes.
13:09Several of them said, I'm lost.
13:11I don't even feel like I'm in the same place.
13:13Look at the fireplace.
13:14You've got a completely working, functional fireplace that was totally destroyed.
13:20Look at Mama's picture up there.
13:22Oh, Mama, look at your picture.
13:23There's your picture fishing up there.
13:26Why don't y'all turn around.
13:27Angie Cole painted a picture of the bridge.
13:30Oh, look at that.
13:32That is so cool.
13:34That's awesome.
13:35That's amazing.
13:36Is it not?
13:37One of the most exciting things was seeing my mother so excited about her home place being
13:43renovated and so many of her special little mementos that were incorporated so well into
13:49the design.
13:50Look, Mama, this is the thing that Papa made for you.
13:54Papa Spears made this for Mama.
13:56We thought that this room would be super sentimental to you.
14:00It is.
14:01And all this stuff come out of your attic.
14:03There's a book in there from 1914.
14:05Yeah.
14:06And then look here for the guys.
14:07We've got a shed shelf with all the sheds that we got from your family.
14:15Oh, I see what this is.
14:19How do you like that shower?
14:20Come on down here.
14:21Come on in and look.
14:22Oh, gosh.
14:23So now the girls are going to be all up in this place.
14:26Oh, wow.
14:27Gosh, look at this counter.
14:30How do you like that?
14:33You think it's an upgrade?
14:34We went and stole it from the Waldorf.
14:37Look, and a shower.
14:38A real shower.
14:39That is awesome.
14:40Oh, my gosh.
14:41I love it.
14:41Oh, my word.
14:54What do you think of that?
15:00Come on in here.
15:01Dang, we have that 1945 vent stand.
15:05What do you think of that?
15:06I think we're going to fist fight.
15:07How do you all like that air conditioning?
15:09That's awesome.
15:09Oh, my gosh.
15:10Yeah.
15:11Oh, my gosh.
15:11Look at this.
15:12Wow.
15:12Look at that.
15:13Look how clean the windows are.
15:15Wow.
15:16Y'all like that picture?
15:17Yeah.
15:18That's awesome.
15:19Courtney spent many hours trying to figure out what to put in here.
15:26Look at here.
15:27It's so crazy.
15:28That's cool.
15:28And it complements the two rooms.
15:31Oh, my gosh.
15:32It complements each other so well.
15:35Look at this.
15:36This may be my room.
15:39Using the things that were already there, I mean, who would have thought that that wood
15:42paneling would be so pretty painted?
15:44Everything just came together, and we're just so surprised and just so thankful, so grateful.
15:51This was my wife's favorite room.
15:54This one.
15:54Oh, that's cool.
15:55Wow.
15:56Oh, my gosh.
15:56Man, y'all are not doing y'all stuff.
16:00Oh, mother.
16:01Okay, this is nice.
16:02I called this one.
16:04I called this one.
16:05Is that him?
16:10It's just so good.
16:10Oh, both.
16:11They are going to die.
16:14Oh, and look at Finn.
16:14Oh, my gosh.
16:15Look at that.
16:15Two kids.
16:17Two kids in each one.
16:18Courtney?
16:19Yes.
16:19Man.
16:20Oh, nice.
16:21That's awesome.
16:23Anything I thought about, that's not what happened.
16:25But it's so great, it's amazing is what it is.
16:29How do you like your new stove, your new oven, your new sink?
16:32Oh, look.
16:33That kind of move.
16:34A coffee nut.
16:35A coffee bar.
16:36How do you like that?
16:37Oh, we got a coffee maker that works.
16:39Yeah.
16:39And our friends at Baird Brothers Fine Hardwood made y'all some great cutting boards.
16:44This team comes from your barn out back.
16:46I want you to take a look back here.
16:49Oh, my gosh.
16:51This was built on site out of Red Oak.
16:54We got all from Baird Brothers and made you guys a gun cabinet.
16:58So when you walk in from outside, you put your gun up.
17:01So hoping.
17:01You put your boots up.
17:03Oh, boy.
17:04Yeah.
17:05You got nuts underneath.
17:06And I really want you guys to see this because I know this picture.
17:10Oh, look.
17:12Oh.
17:13The kitchen, everything is just so much more functional.
17:16Everything seems so much bigger.
17:17Just so much more usable.
17:19I feel like we're just going to really enjoy it so much more.
17:22And this is your crew.
17:23Oh, my gosh.
17:25Oh, Lord.
17:26Yes.
17:27Come on out.
17:28Oh, man.
17:28Oh, my God.
17:29Oh, look at this.
17:34Unbelievable.
17:34This is a handmade table.
17:39And every one of these chairs were handmade by Forever Barnwood.
17:42Wow.
17:43Awesome.
17:44I can foresee Thanksgiving meals there, Christmas meals.
17:47I've already visualized how we're going to set the table and how we're going to decorate.
17:52And then also a Hue 2E for SEC football.
17:55So you can't hardly beat that.
17:58So here's your new utility room.
18:00Our wall control friends put all the organization you want here.
18:05And it's on this wall, too.
18:08Now you know where your tools are.
18:10Yes.
18:10Right here.
18:11You got a brand new hot water heater.
18:13And our friends at Graybar supplied you with a brand new electrical panel.
18:17We got breakers now?
18:18You got breakers.
18:19Graybar hooked you up.
18:21And then we got the epoxy floor from Stone Coat.
18:26Yeah.
18:26This floor is going to make life a lot easier.
18:28Absolutely.
18:29Let's go outside.
18:30Oh, God.
18:31Okay.
18:33Oh, my God.
18:34Look at this.
18:36Our friends at M&M BBQ brought you guys the most amazing smoking grill.
18:41It's the first one of its kind.
18:43It is brand new.
18:44And they actually put some food on it, too, y'all.
18:46We're going to bring it out.
18:47So you're ready.
18:48Oh, my God.
18:49That's better.
18:50That's better.
18:51Drew, you think you can use that?
18:52I think I can use that, though.
18:54That's a well-built grill.
18:56That grill will be here for 100 more years from now.
18:59But we're not done yet.
19:02There's more.
19:02Your own hand-built custom shooting bench right here.
19:09And look out through there.
19:10Every 50 yards out to 300 yards, you've got a big target that will go dong when you hit it.
19:19And that was brought by our friends at On The Spot Outdoors.
19:23Hello, guys.
19:24Hello.
19:24You said you wanted a blind, right?
19:26Yeah.
19:27That's what we do.
19:28We got you a blind.
19:29We really concentrated on the kids.
19:40We got a lot of different things to get them set up, to get them training on shooting.
19:45There's a little bit of everything for you guys.
19:47Thank you so much.
19:49And Rob at Ginger Woodworks helped design, build everything on the workbench.
19:55But this is a little booster seat for the kids because they're going to be a little short.
19:59Perfect.
20:00Oh, I could just see Bowel in there.
20:02That's awesome.
20:03That is awesome.
20:12I just want to thank Renovation Hunters for sure.
20:14It's amazing.
20:15My expectations were high, and it just went even.
20:19I mean, it's just absolutely amazing what they've done.
20:22They gave us stuff from not only habitat, planting them green patches, deer stand advice, making
20:29a whole outline of what we need to do from inside the house to outside cooking.
20:34It is unreal.
20:35I really cannot find the words to tell y'all how much I appreciate this.
20:39In eight days, I don't know how you would be so physically and mentally tired to accomplish
20:44something, a feat that they just accomplished.
20:47There is no way that I or anybody in my family can express our appreciation for what y'all have
20:52done.
20:52We are going to utilize this so much more, and not just us, but our friends and the community.
21:02I'm astounded.
21:03It has just gone over any expectations that I had.
21:07I can't even think about what my favorite part is.
21:10I love it all.
