00:00This program is rated G and considered acceptable for all ages.
00:18So here we are, south of McCool, Mississippi, they call it Four Corners.
00:23Beautiful place.
00:24You know, we can't seem to go wrong with finding the locations.
00:27It's comforting knowing that so many families still hold on to these cabins, cherish them, and more preserve them.
00:36Hey, hey boy, I think it's time to ring the bell.
00:38Yeah.
00:38It's getting, it's that time.
00:40Hey guys, gather around.
00:43Come on.
00:44Hey guys, welcome to build number two, McCool, Mississippi.
00:48What a beautiful place, isn't it?
00:50Tell you what's even more beautiful, the family.
00:53This family is amazing.
00:55The gentleman that owned this property just passed away in January.
01:00The last thing he told them, he said, don't ever take out a loan on this.
01:05He says, it's totally paid for.
01:07All you got to do is pay the taxes.
01:09It's here for generations to come.
01:11Right there, Kevin?
01:12That's our mission.
01:13We want to do things that affect generations.
01:15Tiny towns in the middle of nowhere.
01:21Never hear about unless you've been there.
01:24Little dogs on the big mat.
01:27Keep in the train on the track.
01:30Carrying the loan on the back.
01:32These tiny towns make the world go round.
01:38Yeah, these tiny towns.
01:41Renovation Hunters is presented by Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods.
01:52Y'all got the schedule that I sent out.
01:59So it's minimal demo.
02:01We can get in there, get started.
02:03Carpets, all that stuff has to come out, cleaned up.
02:05I want to get paint on the walls today.
02:08Alex, I'm going to have you start with Chad and Forever Barnwood prepping this to do our
02:13barnwood garage refit, repair, whatever you want to call it, but it's going to look awesome
02:19when we're done.
02:20Adam, if you can start that kitchen, because I know Stone Coat has a ton of work in there.
02:25The rest of us will get started on those carpets.
02:29Dumpster did not show up.
02:30So, you know, we either have a dumpster that doesn't show up, gets stuck in the mud, or catches
02:35fire.
02:35You know, it's always something.
02:37But Mike had a good idea, lays some carpet out back here, throw everything on top of
02:42that.
02:43When the dumpster does come, we'll roll it all up, throw it in there.
02:48The house is actually probably one of the best houses we've been in so far.
02:53It's brick.
02:54The carpets actually are just old.
02:57When you rip them out, it's probably going to be solid underneath.
03:01I don't foresee seeing a lot of rot and mold, but who knows until you get into it.
03:06I mean, you just don't know.
03:07But it looks pretty solid.
03:10It's still plush for being as old as it is, but it's definitely dated, and it's seen a
03:15few lifetimes worth of muddy boots and wear.
03:18So we had to get that out, which involved us getting covered in kind of dry rotting carpet
03:23padding, which is sort of gross.
03:25But not the worst carpet we've seen on Renovation Hunters.
03:29This location here, it's a little different than some of the other ones we've done.
03:33It's sort of like a grandma house, pet work converting.
03:35There's a lot of cosmetic stuff we're doing, so that means we've really got to make the
03:38inside pop, because otherwise you're just talking square rooms with paint on it, and
03:41we need to make sure this man was impressed.
03:51You know, one of the unique things of Renovation Hunters is the mission that we have, and it's
03:56one of the things that attracts so many partners.
03:58Renovation Hunters, and another great one is Forever Barnwood.
04:03Chad, thanks for coming out, man.
04:04Happy to be here.
04:06So you have an assortment of things for us on this build.
04:10We have some shiplap on the bottom for the ceiling here, Kevin.
04:12We got a couple of porch wraps here.
04:14We got some trim boards, the box beams for the ceiling.
04:17We brought a table.
04:18We brought some chairs.
04:19We brought a lot of stuff here.
04:20These are the shutters for the front windows.
04:22We are consistently inconsistent, which makes our product, that's the beauty of it.
04:28We don't want everything to look like it came off of a printing press, but we can duplicate
04:32that project next year, the year after, forever, hence the name Forever Barnwood.
04:41I'm going to be gutting the bathroom, pulling the sink out, pulling the toilet out.
04:48I've got to pull the old tub out.
04:50It's cast iron, so I've got to bust it out.
04:53I'm going to be putting a new valve in and pretty much prepping, putting the shower pan
04:57back in, just getting ready for foam coat.
05:00So this old paneling, old ceiling, you know, this is, what, 50-some years of smoke residue.
05:21We're just going to prime everything, get a nice clean color in here, brighten this place
05:26up.
05:27So we'll get this good layer of primer down and then let that dry.
05:31Hopefully this afternoon we'll get some finished coat on the wall, but it's going to take at
05:35least two coats of finish.
06:05So we're still on target with the original plant in here?
06:15The painting's taking longer on the inside.
06:20This room isn't doing too bad.
06:22We should have doors and everything ready to set to do this epoxy floor from Stone Coat
06:27in here starting Monday.
06:29Okay.
06:30I want to concentrate.
06:31Flooring's coming Tuesday morning, 8 o'clock.
06:34Okay.
06:34I want to be done with at least three of the bedrooms in there.
06:38We're going to do the same thing across the top here?
06:40Same thing across the top here?
06:42Yeah.
06:42And then that whole wall gets barnwood there.
06:44That'd be good.
06:45Door and door?
06:48Two, five-hinged patio doors, 72-inch wide, and then people can just come and go freely
06:55because we're going to have a fire pit right out there, the grilling area where the trailer's
06:58at.
06:59Well, we were going to go with a new fire pit, but there's some sentimental value to Sam Strong
07:05out there.
07:06Okay.
07:06It's an effort they did for a guy that passed away here, so we're going to leave that,
07:10but I love what we're seeing here.
07:12So, on Target, we're on schedule?
07:16For a first day Target, yeah.
07:17Okay.
07:18Whatever you want me to say.
07:24Hey.
07:26Hey.
07:27How?
07:28And you are?
07:29Daniel, Little Camper.
07:30Oh, my God.
07:33So, this trip, I got a little tag along.
07:36Some people may call him Little Camper.
07:38Some people may call him Daniel.
07:40I just call him my brother.
07:41Did somebody give you a contract?
07:43Did we agree to this?
07:45You got two of them on site.
07:46Good to have you on site.
07:47Thank you, sir.
07:48Really appreciate it.
07:49Thank you, sir.
07:49Nose to the grindstone, man.
07:51Anything you can help us with, we'd greatly appreciate it.
07:53Absolutely.
07:54I'll be here for you, sir.
07:55I'll be here.
07:56Once again, I'm so sorry.
07:58When I was younger, I did a lot of framing houses.
08:01Then I started supervising for a contractor for a few years.
08:05I worked for Camper doing remodeling of a lot of his homes that he had built in Florida.
08:09I hope we bring a lot of good smiles and tears to this family.
08:14They definitely deserve it.
08:16It's a generational property.
08:17Hopefully, they will enjoy everything that they do receive.
08:21The only reason we're here is because of my new good buddy, Tyler Hardy.
08:27Tyler Hardy is not a member of this family blood-wise, but he's ingrained with this family
08:33as much as any blood member there is here.
08:36Me and Drew grew up together from playing ball at the park, football.
08:41Went to school together, went to college together.
08:43I came hunting with him a lot when I was young.
08:45Once we got to college, as much as we could, we could slip away up there.
08:49I'm Drew Breeland, and this is Bo Harrell Breeland.
08:54He was named after my grandfather, Lanoi Adcock.
08:57He was a Harrell Lanoi Adcock, and this is his namesake right here.
09:01My dad, Lanoi Adcock, was the owner of the land.
09:04He passed away back in January.
09:06This land has been in our family, we have figured out, for eight generations.
09:10So I grew up in this area and enjoyed every minute of it, and now my kids come back.
09:16And I love it when my kids come here because they don't have a phone in their hand.
09:20They don't have a tablet in their hand.
09:22They come here to play.
09:23They come here to hunt.
09:25And to me, it's just coming home.
09:27I've been hunting and working on this place since I was big enough to walk.
09:31Deer hunting, squirrel hunting, turkey hunting, rabbits.
09:35Anything that can be hunted, we hunted up here.
09:38I came for Ms. Joanne's breakfast.
09:40The only reason, a lot of times I slept in the truck, Drew went hunting, and I just can't make breakfast.
09:44We call it the deer camp.
09:46Actually, it was my grandmother's house.
09:48They built that house in the 70s, and I remember helping to move them into the house.
09:52Since then, we've had multiple family gatherings there.
09:56We always have a big Easter celebration, fry catfish, bull crawfish.
10:00And in the past, when we've had family gatherings, there's probably been 150 people there.
10:04So it's just we wanted a place that people would feel comfortable coming to, but just a little bit nicer than what we had.
10:10Dad was sick with Parkinson's disease right before he died.
10:13That was sad.
10:14It's very sad since he passed away in January.
10:17So this is something exciting and happy and something for us to focus on and to sort of recognize his and mom's hard work.
10:26They worked so hard to accumulate land and to teach us all the value of land and of having it and of taking care of our resources and using it generationally.
10:37Their focus has always been not for now, but for the future.
10:40Jeff, what are you doing with the clothes hanger?
10:57Are you trying to find a closet?
10:58Witching for water, buddy.
11:00Hey, we got too many holes to drill around here, and there's two abandoned well lines and public water coming in.
11:06So we don't want to hit that, but that's all right.
11:08We got Trent.
11:09Yeah.
11:11No.
11:11We got the plumber.
11:12It works.
11:13We didn't hit any yet.
11:14All right.
11:15So I wasn't around the crew.
11:16Didn't get a chance to ask you.
11:17I wasn't putting the pressure on you, but where are we at?
11:19We're on schedule right now, but, you know, we're only first morning of day two.
11:23Yeah.
11:24And we got weather coming in.
11:25That's the thing.
11:26So if we have weather, is everything going inside?
11:29As much as we can get inside, but, yeah, it's...
11:32Today was my day to start Habitat a little bit, but we're going to have to wait until this impending weather gets off.
11:38Hopefully, that doesn't mess us up too bad.
11:40Alex and Chad, they're going to finish up that barn wood in there today, and then we can move everything in.
11:45But we've got to have that floor ready for Stone Coat to come in there and seal that.
11:49Have you met our new team member?
11:51I want to introduce you to him.
11:52Okay.
11:52Pretty good guy.
11:53Let's go take it away.
11:56Hey, Kyle.
11:58Hey, good morning.
11:58I know you flew in late last night.
12:00You have a chance to meet the mad scientist himself.
12:02I have not had the pleasure yet.
12:03This is Kevin, the one and only.
12:04Good to meet you.
12:05Nice to meet you, buddy.
12:06Guy knows his way around a saw and a hammer.
12:08One of the best trim guys I've been told that there is in the state of North Carolina, and he's already found a bear glumbered.
12:13I hear you got him a helper.
12:15I got him a helper.
12:17So, you know, send everybody...
12:17So he's in charge of him.
12:19He's in charge of Trent, the plumber.
12:20I got stuck with the plumber.
12:23Until our Pfister stuff arrives.
12:24Hot on the left.
12:25Cold on the right.
12:26And we know the rest of that story.
12:28But this is how we roll, man.
12:30I'm sorry.
12:30I know you came in late.
12:31We threw you right in here.
12:32But enjoy the storm.
12:34We're going to go inside and see what's happening in there.
12:35You got to get to work.
12:37Yeah, this build here, it's a little bit of everything.
12:39We're adding some new construction outside, a lot of remodeling inside.
12:43I've done pretty much both my whole life since I was in high school.
12:47So this is right in my wheelhouse, a little bit of everything, so I can kind of help out wherever I'm needed.
12:52Now, when I talked to Tyler, this was his number one complaint and his wife's complaint.
12:59She would not take a bath or a shower in here.
13:01He was pretty rugged.
13:02Yeah, thank you.
13:03Hunting camp special.
13:05But you know what?
13:06We got a new shower base in.
13:07The walls from Stone Coat are going to make this thing just look amazing.
13:11It'll be bright.
13:12It'll make it look bigger, even though it's such a small space.
13:14There was plenty of water damage.
13:16We're still working through some of that.
13:18Trent has the trap installed.
13:19We'll get that new Pfister valve in there, and then we'll be ready for Stone Coat.
13:23I sprayed some mold prevention in there behind that to get that.
13:26But now, let's go look at the sponge walls and see what they're doing, because I have some concerns here.
13:34Hey, Kent.
13:35Hey, what's up, guys?
13:36Just spraying, huh?
13:38Wrapping up coat number 147.
13:40I'm thinking...
13:41How many gallons, actually?
13:42How many gallons on this little bitty room?
13:45I mean, we're five gallons of room.
13:48In each room?
13:49I think so.
13:50I think we're up to three coats of finish, four coats total, and that paneling still is not the way I want it.
13:58When are you going to be done painting?
14:00Definitely by next week sometime, no problem.
14:02Oh, my God.
14:03All right.
14:04Let's go, Kent.
14:05It's a minor glitch, but it is a timely glitch.
14:08Maybe coats five and six will work.
14:11Hey, we'll use 30 gallons of paint here.
14:14Or more.
14:14Oh, I have 30 gallons already.
14:17We have flooring crew coming in on Tuesday, and I got to have these rooms done so that they can get their flooring done so that we can start doing our final setup.
14:27I'm really excited about what we're doing to the outdoor experience.
14:33And our friends at Simpsons Strong Ties provided us with the best tools that we could have to make this backyard into something special.
14:41And Steph is here doing such a great job laying all this stuff out in order.
14:46This is awesome.
14:47So how are you organizing all this?
14:49Kevin gave me the planner.
14:51Oh, so you have the planner.
14:52Yeah, I'm not just making this up.
14:55Oh, I thought you was just shooting from the hip kind of girl.
14:57So they sent us the list of all the parts we need for each category of the pergola.
15:03And you can design anything you want for your backyard custom right here on this planner.
15:09Yeah, it tells you what to buy and everything.
15:11Anybody can use that.
15:12Even me.
15:13Come on.
15:13All right, guys.
15:14I'm going to leave this in your hand.
15:15All right.
15:15By the time we throw that M&M grill underneath that pergola top and we make them a custom grilling area,
15:24well, I don't think the people are going to leave here and go home very often.
15:32So when I go and look at these builds, I get an idea of what to do in here.
15:37But I usually have to have a plan B.
15:39Well, of course, that's what we've run into with the kitchen already.
15:42But Adam has worked out, I think, all the bugs.
15:46So I'm excited to see what he can do.
15:48And with Stone Coat countertops coming in, they have the versatility to change the way we have to change on the fly.
15:55Well, Catherine and I were running to the kitchen trying to figure out what to do here.
15:58And I was supposed to tear out these built-ins there on the side.
16:02That's a cabin tree that had a cooktop in there.
16:04And we were going to move it to the other side of the kitchen.
16:06When we started trying to rip it out, I was in there for hours.
16:09We could not rip this thing out.
16:11And usually when you touch these things, they just collapse around you.
16:14So we're going to keep it there.
16:15And rather than do a cooktop on the other side of the sink, we're going to do a coffee bar, whiskey bar, whatever you want to do.
16:20It's an added feature, and it's a happy accident.
16:26Hey, Kev.
16:27Yeah, bud.
16:28Got an idea here.
16:28So, Lil' Camper and I are talking.
16:31We're trying to get this adhesive off.
16:32They sprayed all that over here for the cover on here.
16:35I mean, it's just not going to come off.
16:37So, if we do some of the, like, the Stamp 10, like, a metal backsplash, we can just cut it, slab it on, and be good to go here.
16:44Because otherwise, I mean, we've got damage that's coming off or it's pulling off, and it's just going to be a pain.
16:48There's no point in painting it, like, the walls or anything.
16:50You know what?
16:51They got an old barn out back.
16:53Let's see if they got some old barn metal.
16:55Oh, we can do that.
16:56Put it right there.
16:56Bring something up there.
16:57Yeah.
16:58Yeah.
16:58I'm with you.
16:59Okay.
17:00We'll put that out.
17:00That'll look good.
17:01No, I think that'll be a nice feature.
17:03Okay.
17:03All right.
17:04Perfect.
17:05Put it on the list.
17:06Call me when you have another problem.
17:07All right.
17:07We'll do.
17:08Tomorrow.
17:19We got it delivering.
17:21Hey, Rob.
17:35Yo, dude.
17:36Can I steal you for a little mission?
17:38Let's do it.
17:39I got a minute.
17:40Yeah, grab some gloves.
17:41We're going to go hunting for some metal.
17:42Let's find some snakes.
17:44Oh, I see you didn't ask Camper.
17:45No, Camper's afraid of snakes.
17:46Okay.
17:48For this coffee bar, we're going to bring in some metal.
17:51We're going to bring in some rustic look here and find some sheet metal.
17:52So there's an old barn back there.
17:54Rob and I are going to go check it out and see what we can find.
17:56Hopefully we can find some useful stuff back there.
17:58This top piece right here is probably going to be one.
18:06Grab that little piece underneath there, too.
18:07That's a nice one.
18:08This guy?
18:09Yeah.
18:09All right.
18:10All right.
18:12Now we're going to hold this stuff back.
18:13I got an idea.
18:15While we're looking at the sheet metal, I look into the barn, and I see this little razor side-by-side.
18:21But I wasn't sure if the key was in there or if we could even get this thing started.
18:26Oh, my gosh.
18:27That's a little tight, though.
18:28I'm not fitting in there.
18:31It didn't really fit me.
18:33I was a little big for it.
18:34Adam was too tall, so he couldn't even get in.
18:36But we had a little fun.
18:37Let's try this.
18:39Do you think Hal's going to fire us?
18:41No, but Kevin might.
18:43Oh, that's true.
18:44We put the sheet metal on top of this side-by-side, and we hauled it up.
18:54And it seemed like a good idea until we got to the top of the hill, and Kevin was standing there waiting for us.
19:04Hey, boss.
19:05Your truck's in the way.
19:07We got a delivery.
19:08It's not a great fit, but...
19:09It's a good look for the two of you.
19:11I'm glad they're having fun, but I don't know what else this week is going to have in store for us, really.
19:17He'll break his leg.
19:41So we're building a pergola on this build.
19:47And if you've never heard of one of these before, they're very popular with designers and wives right now.
19:54Basically, it's a beautiful wood structure that has absolutely no purpose.
19:59There's no shade.
20:00It will not protect you from the rain.
20:02But it looks awesome, and it makes your wives happy.
20:06So definitely research how to build one of these.
20:11So we're taking advantage of no rain right now.
20:14Had a little bit early this morning, but we're going to work on all this exterior stuff, at least get everything started.
20:20We're actually waiting for paint to dry inside, as crazy as that sounds.
20:24The way things are progressing out here, we might have just about all this structure up.
20:28We're going to keep plugging along as long as we don't have any rain falling down on us.
20:3224 and 8.
20:34Had you in.
20:36Separate from the house, we're building an actual 10 by 12 little shelter roof type deal for M&M barbecue.
20:43We're going to lay down some pavers.
20:44We're going to smooth it all out.
20:45So this way you can go out there and grill and not get soaking wet.
