00:00Barikata Nacional has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to probe PKR's
00:05Shamsul Iskandar Akin following allegations raised against the former senior political
00:09secretary to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
00:12PN Chief Whip Takiyuddin Hassan cited Shamsul's letter of support for contractors involved
00:17in a hospital project and claims that the Melaka PKR chief received over RM600,000 from
00:22controversial businessman Albert Tay, who was at the center of the Sabah mining scandal.
00:27In a statement, Takiyuddin said failure to investigate will lead to massive implications
00:32that could potentially undo the government's initiatives and pledges to combat corruption,
00:37abuse of power, and money politics.
00:39The past secretary general also urged all parties involved in both issues to cooperate with the
00:43graft busters, saying any wrongdoing should be met with impartial legal action.
00:48Shamsul announced his resignation as Anwar's senior political secretary yesterday, citing
00:53attempts to attack him through controversies which he said could have a negative impact
00:56on the government's image.
00:58The former Hang Tuajai MP had drawn backlash for penning a letter of support for a hospital
01:02project, which also earned him a reprimand by Anwar, as government regulations do not permit
01:07the issuance of such letters.
01:10Following Shamsul's announcement of his resignation, Malaysia Keeney quoted Tay as claiming he had
01:15spent 629,000 Regan on Shamsul, including on renovations for properties linked to the PKR Man,
01:21as well as premium cigars and custom suits.
