00:00How about tonight? I don't know if we get the six, Joe Clippers and the Lakers out there in Tinseltown, a five and a half point number across the board, a two twenty nine and a half total in this one.
00:08What's a quick spread line here for the Battle of Los Angeles?
00:11I'm crazy enough, Donnie. This series has been owned by the Clippers, except for the first time that they played earlier this year.
00:19But that didn't include LeBron James. Maybe just maybe the Lakers could be looking for the L.A. sweep here.
00:27So we'll have to watch and find out.
00:30Quick little NBA recap here. Breaking news from Yahoo Sports.
00:34Trailblazers head coach Chauncey Billups pleaded not guilty to charges of wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy on Monday during his appearance at a federal courthouse in Brooklyn.
00:45Has anybody ever just showed up and said, you know, I'm guilty.
00:48Like we always not like you can have you could be caught in 4K with years of evidence.
00:52And you're like, what would you say? Not guilty.
00:55At least you say not guilty on purpose, Joe.
00:57Yeah, not guilty.
01:00Just long enough for us to see exactly in discovery what it is you have on my client.
01:06And then we'll work on some sort of plea deal.
01:08And then with the guilty, we'll come out.
01:10But first and foremost, no, I am innocent of charges until discovery happens.
01:16And then you're like, ooh, maybe not.
01:18Yeah, taking sick days in the NBA, taking sick days in the NFL, it happens.
01:24How about some personal days out here?
01:25Look at Houston star Kevin Durant.
01:28He's going to miss Monday's game in Phoenix and Wednesday's contest in Golden State, tending to a family matter here.
01:33I wonder if he's still going to get paid for those personal days.
01:35No.
01:35And how many do you get a year in the NBA?
01:36Get at least five or six personal days where he's just like, I'm not sick.
01:39I just don't feel like being here and I want to get away.
01:41Well, Kevin Durant's, you know, how much he gets paid an hour, I'm pretty sure they can do whatever he wants to do there.
01:50But the Rockets didn't miss him last night, Donnie.
01:53I mean, 114-92 over the Red Hot Suns there.
01:57And it just goes to show you how deep this Rockets team is.
02:01And, you know, keeping in mind that they lost Fred Van Fleet before the season started.
02:07And a lot of these young guys are stepping up in a big way for the Rockets.
02:11Another fun team, well-coached.
02:14I think they'll be able to get by with a couple of games without Durant.
02:18Let's see what happens here.
02:19How about 13 straight victories for those Detroit Pistons here?
02:22The longest active streak in the league has the Pistons on top of the East.
02:2615-2.
02:28With Larry Brown, Chauncey Billups, and Tayshaun Prince back in the house.
02:33Yeah.
02:33I mean, there's nothing not to like about what you're seeing here.
02:36I mean, Cade Cunningham, again, another 24 points, 11 boards last night.
02:42I mean, kudos to them.
02:44They didn't cover it, though.
02:45And I think, Donnie, we're getting to that point where it might be time to sell high on the Detroit Pistons here in a couple of spots.
02:53They're very good.
02:54They're depth.
02:55They're getting healthy.
02:56They got Jay Nivey back, Harris Levert's back.
02:59But I think we're getting to the point where it's time to sell high here at some point with Detroit.
03:04How about selling high on those Miami Heat?
03:0612-6 now in the season after a four-point win over the Dallas Mavericks, who sink to 5-14 in this one.
03:13P.J. Washington dropped 27 points.
03:14Tyler Hero, welcome back.
03:1624 spot.
03:17Yeah, no Norman Powell, no Wiggins, no Jovich.
03:23They had a lot of guys missing the heat on the second of a back-to-back there.
03:27But it didn't make a difference because they got Tyler Hero back.
03:31So they played a little bit slower last night, Donnie, in that game than they have been in the past.
03:37Usually we're used to seeing 140 points in those games.
03:41But, no, they still had more than enough.
03:43So the depth showing to be a positive here for the Miami Heat, who quietly now have become one of the most fun teams to watch in the NBA.
03:53Who's in?
03:54Who's out in the NBA?
03:55Always fun tonight.
03:56The Orlando Magic going to take on the Philadelphia 76ers.
03:58Vijay Edgecombe missed his last game here.
04:00We'll see if he reappears.
04:01How about you, Ellen Bede?
04:02And that quirky need to say he's close to returning.
04:04But if we look at the line here, I don't know if the anticipation is that.
04:08The Orlando Magic in town to take on the Sixers.
04:10The look-ahead line was a slight favor towards the Sixers.
04:12Now you see a graphic that's going to pop up at plus one and a half.
04:15Even, Joe, some plus twos in the market for the Philadelphia 76ers.
04:19And a total of 227 and a half.
04:21Max, you'll get his 40.
04:23But who else can help him out tonight?
04:25Well, that's exactly it.
04:28I mean, the way I've counted, Donnie, it looks like Philadelphia has now alternated losses and wins, I think, in the last nine games.
04:36So they never lose two in a row, but they never win two in a row.
04:40It's kind of crazy.
04:41And they're still trying to get some guys healthy here, right?
04:45They're still trying to work back McCain, who looked pretty good last time out against the Heat.
04:50Paul George did not.
04:52But it seems like both those guys might be on minutes restrictions.
04:56It's tough.
04:57It's got to be Maxie right now carrying the team.
04:59And I'm worried you're going to burn them out.
05:01But they did lose to the Heat.
05:02So if the trend continues, they'll beat the Magic tonight.
05:06Bounce back effort here.
05:08How about the Battle of Tinseltown?
05:09The Clippers and the Lakers run a five and a half point line across the board at 229 and a half.
05:14Who's playing in this game?
05:15Again, up in the air, which is always the fun part about the NBA.
05:18But 75% of the tickets, they're coming in on the Lakers tonight.
05:21Yeah, well, they finally got Kawhi back last game.
05:26That didn't help them.
05:27But they are getting healthier, the Clippers.
05:30Will it be enough?
05:32Yeah.
05:32I don't know, Donnie.
05:34I don't know that it'll be enough.
05:36Take it to the bank, or at least take it out to the crypto bank out there.
05:40We'll see what happens in those games.
05:41Three games on the card in the NBA tonight.
05:43And again, as we wait for Thanksgiving Day, the NBA Cup.
05:47And much more, hour number two is on the way.
05:49Those hot topics, they never stop rolling in.
05:53It's Feast Week, baby.
05:54Right here on the Sports Grid Network, particularly at the early line.
05:57We've talked a lot of action already.
06:00NFL getting you ready here.
06:01Obviously, college football coming up.
06:03College basketball.
06:04And you know it.
06:05The NBA.
06:06Let's get to the coach.
06:07It's Donnie Wright's at N. Joe Waniere.
06:08Coach James Young, we need you this morning.
06:10You got to get the updates in here.
06:12It's Thanksgiving week.
06:12How we feeling?
06:14Feeling good.
06:15NBA full swing.
06:17Some good performances.
06:17Some big time forwards hurt.
06:20And we're getting to that time, guys, as the NBA Cup kind of gets towards the end of its
06:24group play, where NBA starts to take over a little bit as football comes to an end of
06:29their season, obviously, once the turn of the year.
06:32Absolutely, it does, Coach, here.
06:34But I want to get to the hot topics right away with you.
06:36I'm going to play your clip.
06:37Clay Thompson on Ja Morant.
06:40And then with Ja, he's a funny guy.
06:42He has a lot to say all the time, especially for a guy who rarely takes accountability.
06:48But you know what?
06:49That's for another day.
06:51What did Ja have to say on this occasion?
06:53Nothing of intelligent depth.
06:59It was really just his, just running his mouth.
07:05And he's been running his mouth for a long time.
07:09And it's funny to run your mouth when you're on the bench.
07:13It's kind of the story of his career so far just leaving us wanting more.
07:18You know, we all want to see him out there and do his best, but he's just been letting
07:25a lot of other stuff get in the way of that.
07:29And we need that in the NBA.
07:30We need our best players to be out there.
07:32And when you're a star, it comes with a great responsibility.
07:36And I hate to see that go to waste.
07:40Ah, little Meg Thee Stallion right there, James Young.
07:43Come on, Coach.
07:44What do you think about those comments?
07:45A little shade.
07:46Well, he ain't wrong.
07:50He's not wrong about anything he's at.
07:52I mean, this guy, John Moran, is, let's see, whether he's, let's see, brandishing guns
07:56on social media, or he's picking on fights with high school kids, or he's talking trash.
08:03Listen, we looked at this Memphis team years ago with that whoop that trick and that big
08:08matchup that they had with Golden State.
08:10We were like, oh my God, this team, the excitement, the city, the atmosphere.
08:15The atmosphere at the FedEx Forum, and it all feels like it was 15 years ago.
08:20Guys, it was like three years ago.
08:22But John continues to do dumb stuff.
08:24And at what point, if you're Memphis, you have to look at this situation and say, him
08:30or Triple J?
08:31You already moved Bain.
08:33Right?
08:33You already moved Desmond Bain in the offseason.
08:34So at some point, you got to move one of these two guys.
08:37But listen, I know Clay has not put up Clay numbers in his careers coming towards the end,
08:43but he's not wrong in anything he says about John.
08:45John's got to grow up.
08:46John's got to be accountable.
08:48And John's got to be on the court.
08:49Simple as that.
08:51Mm-hmm.
08:52Not hard to figure out, Coach.
08:54You got to grow up at some point.
08:55But when your father's getting banned from arenas and your best friends, it's just not
09:01good there.
09:02Not good Washington either, Coach.
09:05But they get Atlanta, who is still trying to figure some things out there with Quinn
09:10Schneider.
09:10That's the first game up here tonight.
09:12I'm still seeing 10 and 237, 237 and a half.
09:17I don't know if I can sweat out and under in this game.
09:19But what are you thinking?
09:20Listen, one thing that's been apparent with the play of Atlanta, winners of seven of the
09:25last 10, is there needs to be a, ready, a Trey Young conversation.
09:30Because since he's been hurt, you move Dyson Daniels to the point, Nikhil Alexander-Walker
09:35to the two, and the essential of Jalen Johnson, and Jalen Johnson has seven or more assists
09:39in every game that Trey Young has missed, you need to start looking at Atlanta and saying,
09:44you know, that's another team that has switched around the coach, that got rid of,
09:50Capella, that got rid of, got in De'Jounte Murray, got rid of De'Jounte Murray, got rid
09:54of John Collins, right?
09:55They've treated all these pieces, and now they're playing their best basketball here
10:00without Trey Young.
10:01Washington is a hot mess.
10:03It's a lot of points to lie.
10:05Maybe that's an in-game bet.
10:07You may want to wait, let the game start.
10:08Maybe Washington hangs around, because they do have some veterans on that team.
10:11But Atlanta's been a sneaky good story.
10:14And like I said, if they keep winning without Trey, and Trey comes back, and he kind of
10:20messes it up, guys, there's going to be a conversation about, could Trey beat a guy
10:24move for a team that's ascending with other players playing well?
10:29Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, Coach, from Philadelphia.
10:33This line opened up as a look ahead of the Sixers minus one.
10:35It's now a favorite towards the Orlando Magic, which might lead us to believe who's
10:38actually available tonight.
10:39What's using Maxi every single night?
10:41Is it Embiid?
10:42Is it Paul George?
10:43Is Edgecombe going to be able to come back?
10:44What are we seeing tonight?
10:45Magic and the 76ers?
10:47Well, right now, it's like Vijay Edgecombe is out.
10:50Joel Embiid, Paul George is GTDs.
10:53And we're not talking about Kevin Walsh's show.
10:55That will be on later tonight.
10:56Make sure you tune in at 630.
10:57Maybe Coach will be on that one as well.
10:59But anyway, you have to look at the other side.
11:00Apollo Bencaro is out as well.
11:03But you have the play to me of Wagner playing really great basketball.
11:08Sox is starting to find its way a little bit.
11:10Philadelphia is another team.
11:12Ready, guys?
11:12That they need to have a, ready?
11:14Ready, a conversation.
11:16When Vijay Edgecombe is back, the offense has got to go through Maxi and Edgecombe.
11:21I think you have to make, realize that Embiid is your number three guy.
11:24And Paul George, I don't care what his contract says.
11:28Make him come off the bench.
11:30I like him off the bench.
11:31Let Kelly Oubre play that spot.
11:33And let those guys cook.
11:35And bring him off the bench for some scoring punch.
11:38Where he can get the ball in his hands as other guys get breaks.
11:41What about the AARP game tonight there?
11:46Clippers taking on the Lakers.
11:49Kawhi is back.
11:50LeBron is back.
11:52What are we thinking we're getting here?
11:54You know what's amazing, guys?
11:56And we need to talk about, you know, the fact that if the Lakers are going to be successful,
12:00I'm going to say something.
12:01I'm all about hot topics tonight.
12:04LeBron can't be your number one scorer.
12:06Ready?
12:07LeBron can't be your number two scorer.
12:09LeBron's got to be your number three guy in their facilitator.
12:12The way Luka and Austin Reeves have been playing.
12:15Those two got to carry the load.
12:16But much respect.
12:17I know he has a knee contusion.
12:18I don't know if he played tonight.
12:20Before that, DeAndre Ayton had to put 20.10 rebounds in the games.
12:23Back to back to back.
12:24And DeAndre Ayton could be a 14.10 rebound guy.
12:29And put him in that lineup.
12:31With Reeves and with Luka, then LeBron doesn't have to get to 30.
12:34He can't get you anywhere between 16 to 21 points, get assists, get rebounds.
12:40And then all of a sudden, the Lakers have something.
12:42As for the Clippers, it's problems.
12:44Bradley Beal, gone.
12:46Derek Jones Jr., hurt.
12:47Brooke Lopez, why is he still in the league?
12:50There's a lot of problems in Clipper land.
12:51You start to wonder, when does Steve Ballmer look at Lawrence Frank and say,
12:55you are fired?
12:57Mm, heavy talk there coming from the coach, James Young, here.
13:01The NBA season rolling on as we get up towards Turkey Day and the NBA Cup.
13:05Coach, thanks for rising and grinding us with this morning.
13:08Have a happy Thanksgiving, coach.
13:10Send us to the break.
13:11Give us a fadeaway.
13:12Eating it up.
13:13Goodness.
13:15Questions show.
13:16We ask them each and every morning, Monday through Friday, right here on the Early Line.
13:20Those questions are our Fade the Public Poll.
13:27Follow us on X at SportsGrid.
13:32Each and every morning, we ask a question.
13:33Today's question was, who will win the NBA Cup this season?
13:37OKC, Los Angeles, that's the Lakers, the Nuggets, or the Pistons?
13:40I have no idea about anybody's records here, but I just took the Lakers at 8-1.
13:45I have no idea who's going to win the Cup.
13:48Well, yeah, it's going to be hard.
13:50I mean, OKC apparently is not interested in losing any games at any time to anybody so far this year.
13:57So I get it, but I wouldn't be – I'd keep an eye on the Miami Heat, too, as well.
14:04But to me, I'd have to be a little chalky and go with OKC because they are a machine,
14:11and they're about to get more reinforcements that will be healthy enough to play, like Jalen Williams.
14:17So, yeah, look out for OKC.
14:19Here they come.
14:20For me, I'm going back to the association.
14:22You know me, Joe.
14:23Fade in the public.
14:24I can't get enough of the Lakers and Luka Doncic here.
14:26Ooh, the Clippers got to travel from Inglewood over to downtown Los Angeles.
14:31That ain't going to be no issues tonight.
14:32How about the opening line, Joe?
14:33Listen, at minus six.
14:34It's now dropped to five and a half despite 75% of the ticket count on the Los Angeles Lakers.
14:40Let's go with the Clippers today, baby!
14:42Plus five and a half points against those Lakers in the Battle of Tinseltown.
14:46Can we start this week, Joe?
14:484-0 for the people?
14:50Sounds like we can.
14:51It's going to be great.
14:53I'm looking so forward to seeing a bunch of 40-year-olds play basketball tonight.
14:57That's great stuff, Donnie.
14:59Great game coming up.
15:00Let's go.
15:01I want to watch.
15:07Let's go.
