00:06David Davidson is the king of Staten Island.
00:08The trailer for The King of Staten Island debuted on Thursday,
00:11starring the Saturday Night Live breakout comic as a character loosely based on himself.
00:15The dramedy, which was directed by Judd Apatow, follows Davidson growing up on Staten Island,
00:19dealing with the death of his firefighter father during 9-11,
00:22and pursuing a career in stand-up comedy.

00:31The semi-autobiographical film was co-written by Apatow and Davidson,
00:34along with former SNL writer Dave Cyrus.
00:37For Apatow, this is his latest film as a director since 2015's Trainwreck.
00:41The King of Staten Island stars Marissa Tomei as Davidson's mother and ER nurse,
00:44and also features stars such as Maude Apatow, Pamela Adlon, and Steve Buscemi.
00:49The Universal film was previously stated to open theatrically in June,
00:52but the release was canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
00:55But the pic will still be available to stream on demand starting June 12th.
