00:00I thought you'd have fangs or horns or something.
00:04I had them filed down.
00:07The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill,
00:09has turned out to be a huge hit for Netflix,
00:11breaking the streaming platform's series viewership record.
00:14But there is one big catch.
00:16Netflix, in announcing its fourth quarter earnings,
00:18has revealed viewership data
00:19for its recent TV launches of The Witcher
00:22and new seasons of the hits The Crown and You.
00:24But it was The Witcher that broke TV viewership records.
00:27The streamer says the show is on track
00:29to have the biggest first season ever
00:31for a Netflix original.
00:32Through four weeks of release,
00:3476 million member households watched the fantasy drama.
00:40It's all the same.
00:41However, there is a catch.
00:43Netflix has changed the way it reports of View.
00:46Previously, the company counted of View
00:48as a member account watching at least 70%
00:50of one episode of a series or 70% of a feature film.
00:54Now it is touting that viewers, quote,
00:55chose to watch a given title,
00:57meaning that subscriber watched for as little as two minutes,
01:01AKA long enough to indicate the choice was intentional,
01:04according to Netflix.
01:05The new metric is now more similar
01:06to Views on a YouTube video.
01:08Meanwhile, the second season of the stalker drama You
01:10has been seen by 54 million member households
01:13during its first four weeks of release,
01:15under the new metric.
01:16Maybe I should run, but I don't want to.
01:21And the third season of the royal drama The Crown,
01:23its first with its new cast,
01:25was seen by more than 21 million households.
01:27This country was still great when I came to the throne.
01:30All that's happened on my watch
01:31is the place has fallen apart.
01:33On the film's side,
01:33the Michael Bay feature Six Underground,
01:35starring Ryan Reynolds,
01:36has been seen by 83 million member households
01:39during its first four weeks of release.
01:41Here's the fun part.
01:43From now on, you're dead.
01:45It's all erased.
