00:00Paul Meskel is saying he won't necessarily be happy if Gladiator 2 makes him more famous.
00:06The Oscar-nominated actor is already very well known in Hollywood,
00:10starring in popular projects such as Normal People, Aftersun, All of a Stranger's, and Foe.
00:16During a recent interview, he admitted that while he doesn't know what fame the Ridley Scott
00:20directed sequel will bring, he will get profoundly depressed if it negatively impacts his personal
00:25life. I don't know what the difference will be. Maybe that's naive. Is it just that more
00:29people will stop you in the street? I'd get profoundly depressed if that's so, and hope
00:34it isn't true. I'll have an answer next year, but if the film impacts my life in that way,
00:38I'll be in a bad spot. I'd have to move on and do an obtuse play nobody wants to see.
00:43The Oscar-nominated star noted that he takes his job as an actor very seriously and feels a certain
00:48way when social media following plays a part in casting. Acting should never be reduced to
00:53numbers of Instagram followers. Meskel is starring opposite Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph
00:59Quinn, and Connie Nielsen in Gladiator 2, which is set to hit theaters on November 22. For more on
