Shuttered since last March, Disneyland will host a massive POD or large Point-Of-Dispensing COVID-19 vaccination site, Orange County and park officials announced Monday.

00:00Disneyland is reopening, but not in the way we're thinking.
00:04The Anaheim destination of the theme park resort has been shuttered since last March,
00:09but it has been announced that it will reopen to serve as host to a massive vaccine super site.
00:15According to ABC7 News, County Supervisor Andrew Doe explained that the Disneyland resort has
00:21undertaken a monumental task in the vaccination distribution process.
00:25Dr. Pamela Himmel, Chief Medical Officer of Disney Parks Experiences and Products added,
00:30after a year in which so many of our community have faced unprecedented hardship and uncertainty,
00:36there is now reason for optimism with the administration of a vaccine.
00:40The Disneyland pod or large point of dispensing COVID-19 vaccination site
00:45is expected to be in operation later this week.
00:48As of now, doses are only being administered for those in the phase 1A of the vaccination distribution,
00:53which is currently law enforcement, first responders, and those over the age of 75.
00:59Those eligible to receive a vaccine are expected to expand as the rollout continues.
01:04Most of the Disneyland resort has been shuttered since last March due to the pandemic.
01:08Last summer, the downtown Disney shopping and dining district was able to reopen,
01:13and in the fall, a portion of California Adventure was able to reopen as well.
