00:00Russell Crowe is sharing his thoughts on Ridley Scott's Gladiator sequel and it's not too positive.
00:07The actor who's not part of the sequel film is saying he's slightly uncomfortable with it being
00:11made. During a recent interview with Kyle Meredith, the Oscar-winning actor said,
00:15"...I'm slightly uncomfortable with the fact they're making another one. Because, of course,
00:20I'm dead and I have no say in what gets done. But a couple of the things I've heard,
00:24I'm like, no, no, no, that's not in the moral journey of that particular character.
00:28But I can't say anything. It's not my place. I'm six foot under. So we'll see what that is like."
00:32Crowe played Roman General Maximus in 2000's Gladiator. The film, also directed by Scott,
00:38follows his character as he sets out to exact vengeance against the corrupt emperor
00:42who murdered his family and sent him into slavery. The actor continued, noting,
00:46"...this is just me being purely honest. There's definitely a tinge of melancholy,
00:50a tinge of jealousy." In the sequel, Paul Meskel takes on the lead role of adult Lucius,
00:55depicted in the original movie by Joaquin Phoenix. He told Esquire last year that,
01:00"...the film is definitely the biggest one I've done."
01:02When asked if he had spoken to Crowe regarding the original Gladiator,
01:06the Normal People star responded, "...I don't know what we would talk about. Like,
01:09I'd love to hear his stories from filming, but the character is, like, totally separate."
01:13The film, also starring Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington,
01:16Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen, is set to hit theaters on November 22.
