00:00Venezuela held the fourth national public consultation in which various communities

00:05projects were chosen for the benefit of local communities.

00:08From the state of Tashira, our colleague Michelle Ramirez brings us the details.

00:15From the early hours of the morning, this electoral celebration began in the state

00:19of Tashira in the southwest of the country.

00:30This fourth public consultation was marked by active and leading participation from citizens

00:35who came out to choose their prioritized projects.

00:42Today we are gathered here specifically in Riveris del Torres for this electoral celebration

00:46where we are presenting seven communal projects.

00:49The people themselves will take part and choose the major project that will help address the

00:53problems in our communes.

00:55I am a resident of the Riveris del Torres commune and we are here in the process of consolidating

01:03popular power since this is an exercise in democracy in which we ourselves decide which

01:06projects can best help the commune.

01:11Youth made their presence felt in this electoral event.

01:13We are here in the municipality of Cardenas participating in the fourth public consultation.

01:20One of the projects under consideration is the reconstruction of a new wall for the Antonio

01:23Jose Super National High School and the Miguel Otero Silva National School which were damaged

01:27on June 13th of last year.

01:29We have been living with this problem since then and through this fourth public consultation,

01:32we seek to restore the proper functioning of our institution.

01:36Among the proposals presented was the repair and beautification of the facades and infrastructure

01:44of educational institutions.

01:48The project we are requesting right now is the construction of the school wall at the high

01:53school because our children and young people are currently affected by this situation.

01:58have been divided, they are no longer studying there.

02:02One group is studying here and another is studying down at the health clinic.

02:06That is why we urgently need this project.

02:13More than 1,500 projects were chosen across more than 200 communes in the Tashira region,

02:19highlighting the popular organization of the Venezuelan people.

02:22With this new act of popular participation, the participatory and leading democracy that

02:27characterizes the country is evident, along with the new model of popular self-government

02:31focused on building a true communal state.
