00:00Our coverage of the National Popular Consultation in Venezuela.
00:04For the first time, condominium boards are taking part in this participatory democracy process.
00:09Our correspondent, Denise Arabi, has more details on the matter from El Encantado Residential Complex in Macaraquay, Miranda State.
00:19Yes, exactly. Voting continues underway in the second National Popular Consultation across Venezuela.
00:25We are at the El Encantado Residential Complex in the Macaraquay Municipality, in the Miranda State,
00:32where the local condominium board, comprising 4,600 housing units, is joining the Bolivarian government popular initiative
00:39and exercising its right to vote for projects that range from the construction of a drainage system
00:45to the installation of ramps for disabled people.
00:48Precisely, this second National Popular Consultation of 2026 introduces a new dimension to grassroots democracy,
00:55with the incorporation of the condominium boards into the community-led decision-making process.
01:01A total of 428 condominium boards are participating in the consultation,
01:06expanding the scope of a model that brings together communal councils, communes, and other forms of popular organization.
01:13The initiative seeks to strengthen community participation by giving residents an active role in identifying their needs,
01:21selecting priorities, and deciding which projects should receive public funding.
01:25Across the country, more than 37,000 projects are being put forward for the popular vote,
01:31with the winning initiative set to receive resources through the Federal Council of Government.
01:35The incorporation of condominium boards extends the reach of the Bolivarian Revolution's participatory democracy model.
01:42Rooted in the communal councils promoted by Commander Hugo Chavez in 2006,
01:46the model continues to develop new channels for popular participation through this consultation.
01:52Venezuela advances this model in which communities take a direct role in defining their development priorities,
01:59strengthening local organization, and building solutions from the ground up.
02:04Stay tuned as we continue touring the Miranda State to bring you more of how this process is unfolding across
02:11Venezuela.
02:12We go back to you now.
